These shoes were an absolute bargain (3.20 on clearance!) so I had to jump on them. They have elastic laces and elastic around the ankle, as well as a detachable, adjustable elastic strap that can be attached at four different sites to offer extra arch or ankle support. They are different than any jazz shoes I have ever owned, and I look forward to dancing in them. I will say, after only just opening them, that they are quite tight right now. I wear a street size 6.5-7 and ordered a small (recommended for sizes 6-7), and they are pinching my toes, but I hope that with a little wear, they might relax a bit, especially considering the upper is made of leather. I have very narrow feet, and the width is perfect for me, providing plenty of support around my high arches. They have a split sole, as well as split padding on the ball of the foot to give support under the big toe joint, as well as the joints connecting the rest of the toes to the metatarsals. There is padding on the sole under the toes as well, for even more comfort. The upper is made of sheepskin leather, the padded part of the soles are made of suede, and the non-padded part of the soles are made of a stretchy, elastic fabric. I hope that these prove to be durable over time, because I have had my long big toe poke through the tip of jazz shoes before. All in all, I am reasonably happy with my purchase, especially for the very low price, and would recommend these shoes to a friend, as long as that friend has narrow feet and high arches like me, and is careful about what size they order, possibly trying these on in a shop before ordering them for less online.
I am street size 7 and ordered an S, and love it. It is unfortunately a little tight as my big toes are longer than the rest of my toes by a lot, so with any dance or ballet style shoe, I will have a hard time finding a snug fit or one that doesn't hurt my big toe. Other than that, these are amazingly comfortable, beautiful and functional. I wear them to teach but also like to pair them with outfits for a night out that requires walking around since I enjoy being barefoot. These protect my feet while keeping them safe and comfortable. (I ordered two pairs so one is reserved for indoor use only!) I hope larger sizes for black will come in again soon as both mine are nude and I really wanted the black ones - they look so chic!
I just got these in today. I tend to wear a 6.5 to 7.5 shoe, so I ordered the small and they are a little tight. I can still wear them, but they are slightly tighter than I would have liked. Other than that, they look good and are pretty comfortable.
I am a dance teacher. I size a lot of shoes. As for sizing on these January 2014 Lot from actual experience with size:
XL: Fits Ladies Street Shoe 8-8.5M to W or 9M to N
XXL: Fits Ladies Street Shoe Size 10-10.5M to W or 11M to N
I can't speak from experience for the smaller sizes, but based on the way these run, I suggest:
L: Fits Ladies 6-6.5M to W or 7M to N
M: Fits Ladies 4-4.5M to W or 5M to N
Hope this helps. I've added a photo of the XL on 8M feet.
