My daughter and I both have very thick, heavy hair, and while we can make pretty, full buns with it, getting them to stay up is hard and takes a million ouchy pins. Then I found this Whirl a Style at our local dance shop. Miracle! For her to go to dance class and for me to wear to work, I whip it up in a quick bun and cover with bun covers I crocheted. For nicer styles and performances, it takes a couple extra minutes to get it perfect but it holds tight for as long as you need with only a ponytail band and this contraption. No pins needed! The jumbo medium was perfect for our just-past-shoulder thick hair until it's gotten a bit longer lately. So I just bought the jumbo large and now it's super easy again. If your hair is heavy, you need the jumbo.

minimama05/27/2013GREAT IF YOUR HAIR IS NOT TOO LONG
I have 2 daughters that have been in dance since age 3 and they are now 11 and 13. When they were little, this hair styling thing was the only thing that got me through recitals. I swore by them. Now that they are older, the oldest daughter has super thick long (mid-back) hair, and this appliance is not useful for her anymore. The younger daughter has regular thickness of hair and it is just over shoulder length and it is still perfect. It takes getting used to - but it is so worth it. Thanks DDS for carrying this!

123403/24/2013FAST HAIR BUN
This product was great. When i first got it my hair was about half way down my back and extremely difficult to put up. Now it's 6 inches shorter and much easier to use. Personally I believe that if you have longer hair, just do a normal bun with pins because otherwise it takes 3-6 tries just to put it up.

frazledmom501/25/2013WORTHLESS
This item is described as a "jumbo medium" Whirl-A-Style, but in reality its more like an extra small toddler size. It would probably work if they advertised the size correctly....I bought it for my 12 year old daughter and its so small we can,t close it. Completely worthless for us.

Sweatpea08/20/2012A HANDY ACCESSORY
I have very long, thick, spiral(if I dont dry it) hair. Trying to find a device to hold my up is a challange in itself. So I bought this Whirl and thought Id give it a try. It does takes some practicing with.
I have started to get the hang of it, and when I take complete time to do it it turns out wonderful. I have used it for a high bun and a low bun, and both turned out very well.
When in a real hurry, I put my hair in a ponytail holder and then use the Whirl. But roll it tighter. Still makes a great bun.
My neice wanted to try it and her hair is as long as mine, but a lot thinner. I tried it on her hair and it was beautiful, and I was wishng my hair was thinner at that moment. :-)
Overall it is worth the money, have patience, practice, use a ponytail for faster application and u will have a very handy hair device.

BunHeadMomma06/07/2012GOOD IDEA BUT DOESN'T WORK
I bought this for my 2 daughters and they do not work. When you're rolling it up you get to a point where its too tight if you continue going, and too loose if you clip it. then when you cover it up it doesn't have a good form (maybe if your hairs thicker it might). If it was cheaper I might just buy it for a messy fast bun, but if you go to a strict school or need it for a recital this is not the way to go. Im sticking with those meshy foam bun molds you get from beauty supply stores for now. Disappointed.
