I have been teaching for years. Finally a shoe that looks like a ballet shoe when I teach preschool. But has the heel so I can teach all levels all day.
I am pleasantly surprised by how much I like these shoes because I have tried and been unsatisfied with most other teaching shoes. They were a little stiff at first, but broke in nicely after 2 days of teaching ballet. I usually wear them for 2-3 hours in a row and they are very comfortable. I change my shoes periodically throughout my night of teaching because my feet feel better when I do. So these fit into the rotation well. I bought them in black and I think they're pretty and feminine. I followed the size chart when ordering and they fit perfectly.
My teacher wore something like this shoe and I've been searching for YEARS to wear a slipper around the house and help relieve heel pain. I cannot review the shoe as an instructor or dancer as I no longer dance, however, the fit is exact. I wear a 8.5 in street shoes and ordered per the chart. The heel feels a little hard so I would think that it may hurt if you hit your ankle with it while doing frappe. The slipper fits as a proper ballet shoe should with no extra leather at the toe, yet not too tight. I am usually bearfoot in them but wearing tights would still be a proper fit. Elastic is pre-sewn across the arch back toward the heel ( it was a little tight for me as my arch is high-I may cut it off). Ordered in black and pink, I am pleased with my purchase.
Good support for a teaching shoe. I teach ballet class several days a week and this shoe gives good support, however, the heel is hard and sharp! Not good for frappes or coupes of any kind! My other ankle gets jabbed and scratched! The heel is a little high, too, and I do lose my balance sometimes. I highly recommend the Bloch Elastosplit Grecian teaching sandal, if you're looking for the support of a heel. Their heel is soft and rounded and there's a full leather sole on the bottom so they don't wear out hardly at all!
