12/13/2015I got this for our daughter. When she opened up the package, I was shocked at what we had paid over $30 for. It should be 1/3 the cost for what it is.

08/27/2015I have been dancing for about 4 years now, and turns were never my thing. I was lucky if I could do one pirouette. So after hearing so many great things about this board I decided to buy one just to she if it would help, and wow did it ever! I went from not being able to do a double pirouette, to now being able to do able 4-6 with out the board. This board really does help you learn to find balance! I would defiantly recommend to anyone that has struggles turning.

08/27/2015I have heard mixed reviews of this but I personally love it! Before I bought this I could barely do single pirouettes but on this I can do triples and occasionally quadruples!!!! I can now do doubles regularly in class! It definitely helps me with my spot which is what has always thrown me off. *** You do need to be very careful with this if you are using it on a hardwood floor!!!*** I was using this on hardwood and I lost my balance the slightest bit and it slid right out from under me and I fell flat on my face! I would definitely recommend using this on marley or laminate floors but it will work on wood if that is your only option. Once I got used to the feeling of it I didn't fall anymore. I am definitely impressed with the amount this has improved my technique!

06/24/2015I myself have to work extra hard with turns. I bought this board hoping it would help me advance, however I don't like it because it teaches you to center your wait differently than if you were doing a normal ballet pirouette. By this I mean you center your weight different flat footed on the turn board than on releve in a pirouette. Its still good for spotting and torso alignment though! Lastly, its alot harder to balance on the board than it is to steady your self in releve passe. Just keep that in mind before you buy this:)

04/03/2015Very slippery! I only used it 3 times since i bought it, but im sure if i used it on anything but hardwood floor it would be better.

02/05/2015This turn board has helped a lot with my turns. I had used a friends turn board before and loved how fun and easy to use it was. Just make sure that when you use it the floor is not slippery and don't use it on a wood floor that is slippery or it will make you feel a little unstable. I was wondering before i got my turn board about the color, i had seen other people using a turn board purchased from discount dance a while ago that was blue(and the picture on the discount dance website of the turn board used to be blue as well) but then was changed to pink as the picture on here...When I received the turn board it was pink(and I'm really glad:) just if you were wondering. Overall I'm super happy with it and it is really worth it!

01/21/2015I suppose I'm a natural turner, but the turning board still significantly helps me anyway. I find it the most helpful with spotting, but also with balance and getting used to the feeling of doing many pirouettes. I've had it for around half a year and still works just the same; however, the curve of the plastic flattens after a while, which is to be expected. I loved this product so much I bought another to keep in my dance bad to practice with at my studio. It was challenging at first, but soon you get used to it and it seems like a toy- when you are actually improving your turns:) Great buy!!!

01/21/2015What a cool item! I love practicing my turns on this really neat little board! Everyone should consider purchasing one of these! I wish they came in more colors or patterns, but regardless, they are pretty neat!

01/05/2015This is amazing. I love how you can focus on spotting and and getting a high passe. I don't like how the foam started to peel a little. orther wise its amazing :)

09/10/2014The foam insert had a crushed area & was glued improperly to the base when it arrived. My daughter had been waiting for it and did not want to take the time to send back. Very disappointed in the shipment of an obviously defective product.

08/07/2014I ordered this online with regular shipping and it came 2 days later! The turn board is and amazing way to make sure you have the right form while not having to think about your foot!

06/04/2014I bought this for my daughter a few years back and she just recently dug it out and started to use it. She likes how it is helping her, and for that it earns 5 stars. However, I discovered that it is scratching my floor!! And for that it earns 1 star. Hence the rating of 3 stars. If you buy this, be cognizant of where you'll use it.

05/29/2014I got this on Monday for my birthday and it's a lot of fun. I was confused on how to use it, but I have found a youtube channel called Ballerinas by night(amazing channel by the way) that gave a review on it and how to use it. This is a lot of fun!

05/22/2014I received this today in the mail and have been playing with it for an hour or so. I love it! The place where you put your foot is very squishy and cushiony and comfortable. The blue plastic on the bottom was scratched after a few turns… Any way, I can do 7 turns on this turn board. I am a generally good dancer, I can do three pirouettes on a good day in ballet flats. This is good for my arms and spotting, and since it is a curved design i know if i put my weight too far forward or backward. Make sure to IMMEDIATELY apply the corrections to your regular turns after you use the turn board, or otherwise it will damage your turns. I am mostly using this for play, and will not become dependent on it for turning, hopefully! Other the that, good product and i really like it.

04/29/2014This turning board is great!
I received it for Christmas, and I had been wanting one for FOREVER!
When I got it, at first it was kind of hard to use. It was tricky to balance on, and for a while I wasn't able to do more than one because it just felt strange.
But after you get used to it, its great and It really helps you to focus on arms, foot position, and spotting!
My dance friend and I were messing around with it one night and it was amazing how many turns we could do with this durable piece of plastic.
It is easy to fall off of this, and I bruised my tailbone once, but other than that its amazing!
Very durable material, and it doesnt scratch the floor.
:) Love this!

04/10/2014This turning board is contraversal. Lots of girls say it's great but tha's only because it's practically a toy. It will improve your turns somewhat but let's just say sometimes your turns will be great and sometimes after using the board for a period of time they will crash (your turns). My teacher always tells us the right way to improve is to do it yourself with the basics.

03/23/2014Our daughter was struggling with her turns and asked if she could purchase the Ballet is Fun Turnboard. We do not have a suitable area in our home to really practice turns but we have a small enough place of hardwood to use the Turnboard. We have seen in 2 short weeks of daily use the confidence and balance of her turns have improved %100! I highly recommend this item for your dancer.

03/18/2014My friend brought this to class for a few days and it was really fun. It does take some time to get used to but i never thought it was "scary." Anyways, I was messing around on focusing on my arms and spots (the main things i need to work on.) Im generally a good turner and do triples on flat and can most the time do triples en pointe. The day I was using my friends turn board was the day i did 5 quadruple pirouettes en pointe and a quintuple pirouette en pointe!!!!! I was so excited. Now Im gonna get one because my friend stopped bringing it to the studio): but yay!

02/10/2014I love my turnboard soo much! It's amazing and it really works. It's pretty hard to get used to at first and I fell quite a few times, so be careful. But once you get used to it it's great! I used it on marley at my dance studio, but it works on pretty much any floor, except carpet.
I used to struggle doing double pirouettes on flat now after practicing on my turnboard I can consistently do triples to the right and occasionally to the left! On the turnboard I can do 12 turns to the right. It's so fun and I love it! My teachers have noticed my turns have improved a lot too. I totally recommend this product!!

01/14/2014This turn board is an excellent choice for dancers. I was half dying the second I saw mine in the mail! I can do 2 turns without it and 5-10 with it! At first you might fall, but when you're used to it it's great! I would recommend using it on a wood floor and some types of carpet.

12/27/2013I bought this because I am terrible at spotting. It helps me to learn to pot better and it also "tells" you if you are leaning too far forward/back. You can apply these corrections to when you are actually doing turns en releve, but you will not be able to do turns en releve on the board. Overall this is an incredibly simple project that can help you a lot. Don't get frustrated if you can't do lot of turns on it immediately, it takes a little while to get used to. It's also not as scary as other people say it is, but it would probably be a good idea to not go full speed the first time you get it.

12/05/2013I love this board! My studio has 3 and I practiced on it until I decided to purchase my own. I used to be nervous doing 2 pirouettes on this board, but now I'm doing 8-9. The key is balance, center weight, and arms. Turning with my arms down and staying centered will help you stay balanced, as it keeps the weight 'down' in a way. Also, the board is designed so that if your weight is on your heel or leaning too forward, you will lose balance--try to stay centered on the board. Here's what I did to test the difference with arms out in front of you and down; Do 4 turns on the board, 2 with arms in front of you and then bring your arms down as you're turning and you will feel the difference. Also, you can practice with your arms above your head. I could write a really long review about this, but all in all, I love this and practice on it almost everyday! Studio or wood floors are good to practice on too. Good luck!

10/05/2013I just got this yesterday in the mail and well I think that I'm going to like it. So far last night I could do about an average of three turns. What I like about it is that it helps you keep your weight centered so If your weight is mostly on your heel you know that you're not on your center. Can't wait to get used to this and practice on it everyday. I find it very practical and I do not recommend that you share this with your friends... Just because the board is soft on top so you don't really want other people stepping on it too. Just use it for yourself.

08/31/2013I do not recommend this product what so ever. Before I got this product i had constant triple pirouettes and after using it, I had a single and a fall every time. On the turning board I can do 10 pirouettes but that does not reflect how many I can in my ballet shoes. When you are using the turning board, you are turning on a flat foot. Therefore it does not distribute your weight properly for actual turns. Also, it teaches you to use WAY to much force. This completely ruined my turns. Yes, it is fun but unless you want to throw your turns away, do not buy this!

04/22/2013It's hard at first, and you have to go really, really slow. You feel like you're going to fall the entire time. It really does help you spot and fix your posture, though. It scratched my hardwood flooring, though.

03/04/2013I need to learn how to do multiple A La Seconde turns by the end of this month, lol. I bought this Tuesday night & got it Friday (I live in NY). Heard this was helpful in seeing what you're doing wrong as far as balance and posture/alignment. Have someone record you so you can see what worked and what didn't. I actually used this on carpet even though it suggests wood floors. I practiced my spotting & doing Pirouettes (even though you can't go on releve...you're turning on a flat foot), and I managed to get 3 down. Start very slowly in a safe environment because it does help you whip around and you don't want to chance falling all over the place especially if no one is around to help prevent any possible injuries. Nothing much to this product-- you just step on it with your supporting leg and try turning. No real manual or anything, just a piece of paper that directs you to "Ballet Is Fun" website. I wish since you bought the product, it gave you free access to the 300+ ballet moves video.

01/22/2013The turning board is really scary at first, but within a few minutes of getting used to it it helped me with my turns. The board helps figure out why you are falling over, for me it was my arms. I could barely do a double before and now I can do a clean triple after only one use!

01/12/2013Most people don't get how to use it and what its for so thats why they don't like it! It helps you feel the force when you bring your arms in! once you feel the force your turns will get better.

01/06/2013If you dance in competitions this is a great buy for you! You will love it! Now if you are a serious ballet dancer, like myself, NEVER GET THIS! Yes you will be able to complete more turns, but your turns will become worse. Your heel will be so much closer to the ground during the turns and that's a horrible thing. I'm a turner so I can just naturally do a good quadrupole turn, but for most it takes practice. One thing I will tell you is to work of your ballance and strengthen your spoting. It helps in so many ways and in no time you will be able to do amazing turns!

02/27/2009You will not get it the first few tries. It turns very fast...be patient. It takes time to get the hang of it. It will improve your balance, turns and center.Don't try to go for a zillion turns first time on it or you may get hurt! It's fast but you do not have to push off so hard until you get the feel of it - then it is so much fun!

09/14/2008This turn board thing is horrible!!! My Bf got it for her birthday and she brought it to our studio. All of us fell after every time we turned. So we read the directions and it said to try it on hard wood floors... we still fell. Either way, you would just spin, you weren't trying.

03/18/2007I've had this for a few weeks and noticed my turns have improved. This tool helps you focus on body position, alignment, and turnout. I would recommend this only to dancers who have a few years of dance training. Supervision is strongly suggested.
Personally, I have always thrown my shoulders back during turns. This turnboard lets you instantly feel what is wrong with your turns and make corrections.
This will not help your releve.
This would be very helpful to those who are afraid of a "slippery" (their words) floor and are wetting shoes and using too much rosin.

California,So I just got this item today. I am not a turner. I can jump, I can dance. Never could I turn. I decided to try this product out. I have tile floors all throughout my house. Well, I tried to go for a triple and I slipped and fell on my hip. But I just read the other reviews and it looks like I should try this on wood floors. I'm a bit scared though, now, to go on it!!!

California,I have had this turnboard for six months now. I love it! It's good to use at the studio, not on the tile at home (ouch!). When I bring it, everyone wants use it. It works a lot better on wood floors than rosco or any other kind of floor. After you can do about five or six ballet pirouettes, you'll notice that you get a lot better at your turns, even when you're not using it. It's great!
