This 1.5" heel character shoe has a genuine imitation leather upper and a leather sole. Features include attached taps with sound boards, a non-skid rubber patch for safety, and a cushioned sock lining. Ankle strap is secured with an adjustable pin buckle for easy on/off.
I'm pleased with this tap shoe. I like the new profile - stylish and perhaps more comfortable. The upper is soft and like real leather. I love that the teletone taps come attached and also the rubber skid on bottom. I expected the shoe to run small but it does not - actually true to size.
I followed the general rule of ordering one size up from my street shoe size and when I slipped on a shoe, I could fit three fingers between my heel and the inside back of the shoe, need to return! sigh
I ordered these for tap classes I began taking for a show I was in. Because the show is only a few months, I was ok with a cheap shoe. However, after one class the screw fell out. I went home thinking I could fix it myself and then I realized just how poorly these were made. The holes do not line up with the screws and these were not made to last. I would not recommend wasting your money on this horrible shoe.
Very comfortable, runs slightly larger than street size. The latch on the straps is a 'slide-catch' that doesn't work well at all. The point of the strap that has to feed into the latch separates and I had to use tweezers to pull it through. I have the strap at maximum length and hope that I can slip the shoe on and off without using the latch. I even super-glued the point of the strap to try to keep it together. Time will tell. Another dancer in class is having the same problem so it is a definite manufacturing defect.
I have never had trouble ordering dance shoes from here for my daughter. Always came in a timely manner and fit well. However, we received these and noticed that the straps were very flimsy and looked like they would break. My daughter tried them on and thought that they were ok, but said the one shoe felt tighter than the other. She took them off and compared the shoes. They were both marked the correct size, but they obviously were not. The one shoe was about a 1/2 inch smaller than the other shoe. We are sending them back and now I have to look elsewhere.
I bought these tap shoes for my 12 yr old daughter. she really liked them and only wore them once to dance class and twice to practice at home and the strap on the side of the shoe just broke. She noticed it hanging by a string. Other than that she really enjoyed them but unfortunately I think they are poor quality.
I've worn these for two classes now, and I'm really hoping they break in, consider ordering a half size larger than street, I have some pressure on my toes because there is very little room. The quality is better than I expected and there is a nice amount of cushioning in the liner, right now though they are very painful after about half a class definately need some working in.
I notice these shoes are sold in medium width ? do you think a wide foot would be able to fit it oka

If you normally need a wide width, I would not suggest ordering this brand. I would suggest purchasing item 561. This is a capezio 1.5 tap character shoe that is offered in a wide width. - DDS Customer Service (03/08/2013)
