We are about to order our 2nd pair of these shoes. My daughter wore them fir the last year and is ready to size up. She asked if we could get the same shoes.
I purchased these shoes after years of purchasing the more expensive Bloch slip on taps. These shoes actually fit her narrow foot better and are true to size for an amazing price. Will definitely be purchasing again.
I read all reviews that were posted at the time of purchase. Some said right on with street size, some said ran a little small. Taking this into account and knowing I wanted something a little bigger for some growth. I ordered one size bigger than my child's street size.
Please be advised that I am very accurate in my description and not exaggerating at all. I am leaving very detailed info, so that one can order more accordingly when ordering this product.
The street size my child wears is 12 and it was bought at Payless. We previously purchased tap shoes from Capezio at the dance school, which runs a little spendy, hence purchasing here.
Anyway, so the size of the Capezio was a 11.5 which was running small, which makes sense because my child is wearing a 12 now so I would say the Capezio runs pretty close to street size. I ordered a 13 in the theatrical tap shoe, thinking again it was a size bigger and room to grow and also accounting for the reviews that said it ran a tad small. I received the shoe and had my child try on, it was too small! I held it up to the Capezio and they were the same size!!! So the Capezio 11.5 is the same size as this Theatrical size 13.
As far as quality of the shoe, seems to be great quality, love that it slips on and is easier for a child to put on. My child changes from jazz to tap in class so it is important that it doesn't take too long to transition. I will recommend that my local dance studio invests in the product, but with the size difference I don't recommend purchasing online. Or perhaps purchasing from someone that will exchange at least one time without paying additional shipping.
I hope this helps others if you decide to purchase.
I loved the look of these tap shoes for my son (it's hard to find boys ballet and tap shoes!). He wears a 10.5/11, so I ordered an 11 and they were small and tight. I was surprised because the reviews said they were consistent with street sizes. We still love them, so we're going to order a 12 and see how that works.
My 9 year old daughter loves them very much! I chose her street shoe size and they fit just right. Shipping is super fast. Overall great shopping experience here and I will definitely come back.
I ordered these shoes for my daughter for tap class. I was pleased with the look of the shoe when they arrived. She wore them to class and was happy with the way they fit. Shoe size seems to be pretty consistent with the street shoe size, maybe just a tad bigger.
My 3.5 year old is currently in a toddler 10 but will be moving up to toddler 11 very soon, likely around when his fall classes start, so I was wondering if the 11 would match a toddler boy 11
Yes, this would fit boy's toddler size 11. - DDS Customer Service (07/23/2021)
Are there any options left for young boys sizes 8-10?
by: miss mia (09/01/2014 - Storrs, Mansfield, Ct, Usa) Age: 25 to 34
I have always ordered these shoes for all of the boys at our studio in the past. Now they do not come in small enough sizes.
These shoes are only offered in children's sizes 11.0-2.5. Please call customer service for assistance with sizing. - DDS Customer Service (09/02/2014)
The dancer normally wears a 12W, but since they don't come in wide, do I need to order a 1/2 size or whole size larger?
The shoe runs true to size, however since they are not available in a wide width, I would recommend order just a half size larger to give a bit more width to the shoe. If you order a full size larger, the shoe may be too long. - DDS Customer Service (01/24/2014)
If my daughter's street size is a 1-child's what size tap shoe should I order?
by: ccpodlesnik (08/22/2013)
Though all of our shoes are sized individually, it is recommended to order same as street shoe for this slip on Theatricals tap shoe. - DDS Customer Service (08/22/2013)
This style is not a split sole. We do offer a Theatricals brand split sole tap shoe, however. The style number is T9555. - DDS Customer Service (08/19/2013)
What is the length from toe to heel in the children's size 12?
by: mago (05/18/2013)
From heel to toe a 12.0 M is approximately 7 5/8 inch, please note that this may not reflect the exact length of the FOOT that is able to fit inside the shoe - DDS Customer Service (05/20/2013)
