I bought these tap shoes for my 3 year old. This is her first year at dance class so I didn't want to spend too much money on shoes. They seem like a well made, good quality shoe. My daughter takes a 7 1/2 or 8 in a Stride Rite shoe so I first ordered these in an 8 1/2 wide since I read they run very small. They were too small and really narrow. I returned them for a 9 1/2 wide and they fit a little big but should last all year.

SIZING IS LIKE THROWING NUMBERS AT A DARTBOARD
I bought several pairs of this shoe for our studio. They are, so far, very shiny and make lovely loud sounds, so the kids think they're great. The problem we're having is that none of the sizes make any sense. I had followed the other reviewers' advice in trying to size up to make up for the fact that they, supposedly, run small. But it seems to be true only half the time. Some kids are wearing an even smaller size than what they're wearing in ballet, which is supposed to be street size exactly. And for some kids the larger size is just right. So either all my kids are aliens, or the sizing is inconsistent. It makes it difficult for online ordering.
But again, we do like the shoes. I've no idea how they'll hold up over time -- it's only been one night of classes, so we shall see. The elastic band and the price were quite right, even if we are forced to buy Made in China for these type of things.

NT WIDE...
I agree with prior posts, about these running slender. I bought these for both my girls. My Youngest has a normal width foot but I still got the wide width and they fit perfectly. My oldest has a wide foot, and even with the wide width shoe, it looks like the top of her foot is spilling out over the front. I'm going to try the adult, 2 sizes bigger, and hopefully that will do the trick.
Other than the width, these shoes look great. They are stiff like a tap shoe should be, but I really like to extra padding on the back of the heel.

TOO TIGHT TAP SHOES
I ordered my 2 year old daughter her first tap shoes for an upcoming class. I was excited to find some in wide width for her chubby feet. If these are truly a wider width tap shoe, I would hate to see what the regular width looks like. We put them on and she says too tight, too tight. This is in a size that is probably 1/2 to a whole size bigger than her foot. I would have returned them but for the cost of shipping to me and then return to the company, it didn't seem worth it for a pair of $15 shoes. Disappointed that toddler tap shoes are not made for chubby toddler feet.

WAY TOO SMALL TAP SHOES
The website says to use street size and my daughters "street size" is 9. I bought her 9.5 in the tap shoes and they were still way too small. Now we have to pay to return them and pay again for shipping new ones. They need to come up with free returns or exchanges some how. Or rewrite their shoe sizing to read: order 2 sizes bigger than street size.

COMFORT
The first thing my daughter said to me was how comfy they were when she tried them on. I looked at her old shoes that I had bought at a shoe store and they didn't have a pad in them. Haven't used them yet but had a softer bed than her older shoes!

GOOD SHOE BUT.......
Really like the features of this shoe, and they appear to be of good quality for the new tapper. Looks like they will hold up well for a new dancer taking class once a week. However, be cautious of sizing! Site recommends to order street size. My daughter wore an 8M for her entire season last year, in a different brand. Her street size is now a 9, so I ordered the 9M. It is SO small. I am exchanging for a 10.5W, thats how small they are, and I have never had to buy a wide shoe in any brand or style for my daughter. I know thats the risk you take when you buy from a website, but really frustrating to follow what the site says, then have to pay a fee to have the correct size shipped.

What size tap shoe should I order?
The length of my daughters foot is 6.25 inches.
A foot measuring 6.25 inches should fit into a US size 9.5 in children?s sizes. The sizing suggestion for this specific shoe is to order the same as street shoe size, but we have received feedback that these shoes do tend to run a bit small. Please note, sizing cannot be guaranteed. Please call customer service at 1-800-328-7107 for more detailed sizing information. - DDS Customer Service (09/04/2014)
What is the length from toe to heel in the children's size 12?
From heel to toe a 12.0 M is 7 3/4 inch, please note that this may not reflect the exact length of the FOOT that is able to fit in side the shoe. - DDS Customer Service (05/20/2013)
