PROTECTS FLOORS AND INCREASES PRACTICE TIME

The Timestep T mat is great for protecting our hardwood floors and giving my son a space at home to be able to move around while tapping. My home made 2.5'X4' elevated plywood tap board made his tapping SO loud that his teacher said he tapped too softly in the studio. Now he can tap with the same intensity at home as in the studio. We leave it in place because it takes time for the vinyl to relax and lay flat at the edges. It was a good investment.

Would this be suitable for a concrete floor with thin carpeting?

I'm looking for something that can be used in church. There is carpeting but it's not the fluffy type.

This item must be used on a hard, flat surface. It may break if used on carpet or any uneven surface.

Can you please explain exactly what this material is like?

You say that tapping can put nicks in it, does that mean that it is a soft material on top like linoleum or is it hard like tile?

This product is made out of PVC. Therefore, it is like a harder type of plastic.

Is this floor good for use with a turing board?

We would not recommend using a turn board on this floor surface as it is quite smooth and may also damage the floor.

Does this mat have the foam shock layer like the other mats? If so, is it as thick?

This mat does not need any extra mats between itself and the floor. It is also not made with any layers. The material used to make this mat allows it not need anything extra.

can it be used for tap?

can this be used for tap? or would tap ruin it bcuz i mainly want to use it for pointe?

You can use it simultaneously for tap and pointe; though with any floor with tap shoes you do run the risk of putting nicks in the surface (making it uneven).

Looking for a floor to use in home

I am looking for flooring I can use to convert a section of my basement to practice pointe. Would this floor or the wood be to better choice?

I would say probably this floor, because it looks like marley. That's what we have in our studios. I've always been told not to use your pointe shoes on wooden floors because it could damage the shoes. Just my thoughts! - Brookie (04/15/2013)
