I LOVE THESE POINTE SHOES!!!! My friend recommended them to me and I think they are amazing! Perfect for those who are like me and have the WORST feet for pointe (feet with a HUGE big toe). I actually like the padding in the box and unlike others, I do not have a problem feeling the floor. The box runs a little small (I have very skinny feet and I had to get the D width) so keep that in mind while ordering. The only down-side is that this shoe only comes in one shank I.e. SUPER EXTREMELY HARD! But other than that, THESE ARE PERFECT.

Tanya10/11/2013DECENT SHOE, LOOK NICE ON FEET
These seem to be the only shoe I can wear. This is my fourth year on point, and except for the Serenade, which doesn't last AT ALL, these are the only shoes that my feet tolerate. Hardly any blisters. Comfortable. look good on my feet. Durable. Good choice if you care about not having too much pain.

danceislife9912/31/2012GREAT SHOE:)
a lot of reveiws are saying "they cant feel the floor" or "shank is to hard" the first time i got these they were alittle hard but the second time they were perfect! i have only been on pointe for a couple months but ive tried alot of shoes and these were the only ones that worked for me! My feet are pretty normal i wear a size 7 1/2 and i got a 4! they fit great! the only problem i have with them is they dont last long! They stay very beautiful and look great on stage! but they only last about 3 weeks, my second ones have lasted but its only been about 4 weeks and i need new ones. i love these shoes and im continuing to use them!

Fabrizio10/19/2012PREFER ORIGINAL SERENADE
I agree with some of the reviewers here. MKII is very different from the original Serenade. Profile is too high for my low volume-toes. Vamp is too bulky and hard to feel the floor. Are they more comfortable than the original? Maybe. But, for me, the original Serenade feels lighter and more flexible when I dance.
I decided to use my first (and last?) pair of MKII for the Barre only. I would switch into Serenade original (I use Hard Shank) before the Centre.

KelseyB10/03/2012VASTLY DIFFERENT FROM THE ORIGINAL "SERENADE"
I felt it important to write a review on this shoe for anyone confused by the differences between the Bloch original Serenade and this Serenade MKII.
I've been doing pointe work for around 10 years and consider the original Serenade to be my go-to shoe. I went to the store where I usually buy my shoes and picked up the Serenade MKII, not realizing how different it would be from my beloved Serenades (the only real difference I could see at the time of purchase was an overall sort of upgrade in sleekness. As if all parts of the shoe were made from a slightly more expensive material or the stitching was more even. Things that would be generally imperceptible to anyone unfamiliar with the details of the original Serenade). Overall the MKII's are a gorgeous shoe, even prettier than the Serenades. The problems started happening once I began dancing in them.
Issue #1 The shank seems much harder than the original Serenades. I have tried breaking them in by hand and dancing in them repeatedly but the shank remains stubbornly straight and almost fights against my arches. My arches are very high, but fairly weak, and this did nothing for the aesthetics or ease of my releve.
Issue #2 This is a very minor issue that can easily be remedied, but was something worth mentioning nonetheless. I've never done anything to fix the slipperiness of the satin of a new pair of pointe shoes because a layer will usually tear off after a class or two. But this satin REFUSED to tear on its own. So make sure you have access to rosin or at least a good pair of scissors before attempting to dance in these on a slippery floor.
Issue #3 MY MAIN ISSUE WITH THIS SHOE. After spending years finding my optimum toe pad combination, I was confused when I put on these shoes and couldn't feel the floor AT ALL. After some inspection, it turns out the MKII's have a weird little spongey poofy pad built in at the very tip of the inside of the shoe. Not enough padding to go without other pads entirely, but too padded for your usual padding combo to not be completely thrown off. They are super comfortable because of this extra layer of padding, but dangerous for dancers like me who prefer to feel a little toe contact with the floor to gauge correct placement.
Also I tried to remedy this by scraping out the foam padding with my fingernail, but it turned out the padding itself was thick enough for the length of the box to be modified to accommodate it. So now the box feels too long and I'm sliding down in the shoe. And ironically, STILL can't feel the floor! I have made the decision to retire my pair today, though they are far from broken, just because I find them unwearable.
Overall I'd say these shoes will probably work wonderfully for some dancers, as they are beautiful, strong, comfortable and well built. But if you're like me and would prefer slightly less comfort in order to gain more control, these are NOT the shoe for you. And more importantly, VERY different from the Serenades! So don't buy the Serenade MKII's in place of the Serenades without first feeling them in person!

enpointe08/31/2012VERY HARD SHANK
These were my first pointe shoes. I have pretty low arches so the hard shank of these shoes made it extremely difficult to get over my toes during the few months that I had them. They also look a bit bulky on my feet and don't really flatter them at all. I wouldn't recommend unless you have long feet and high arches.

I had these as my first pointe shoes, and they took an hour and a half to fit me for them. Needless to say, we figured out that these were perfect for my feet. They have the best line, and when i went to get fitted for my second pair, i got the exact same size and width for the shoes (which proved they were fitted perfectly in the first place). Even though it took about 3 months for the first pair to die and about 1 month for the second pair to die, they were remarkably long-lasting( it might have just been my arches, though) Over-all, I recommend these shoes to beginners.

I love these shoes! I've tried many different kinds of shoes and have always gone back to wearing the Bloch Serenades. They are so much easier to move and balance in than other shoes that I have tried.

After trying every brand of shoe imaginable, these have finally worked. They break in to perfectly fit your foot, I have never gotten a blister, and they last a while (especially compared to Freeds, which I was wearing before) Great shoe.

This shoe lasts long, but is not very similar to the original Serenade (which is my primary shoe). The gel at the tip makes these extremely comfortable on pointe, but the toe box is really long.

Rebekah03/09/2009NOT SO SURE...
These shoes are quite nice.
I performed great turns in them. The problem with them is that they do not form to the foot right. I will not be going with this kind again, however it was not a regret.

I think this shoe is GREAT. Once broken in, they last months (I am in Pointe II). The occasional class I would forget to put on tape, I may get a blister on my pinkie toe and big toe, but I think that is more part of my foot's configuration. These shoes are for feet more prone to wideness, and work wonderfully with ouch pouches.
The only bad thing is, the sole, close to the heel, becomes un-nailed once they are broken in for a while.
However, out of all the people in my dance class, I have definitely been one of the few that hasn't complained about their shoe. :)

I really like these shoes (I actually own the original Serenades). These are my first pointe shoes, and as a boy en pointe, I was initially concerned about finding a shoe that would actually fit my feet. The fitting guide is extremely accurate, (in the magazine it says to fit 3 sizes smaller-couldn't be more correct!) I would have to say that Blochs really encompass a large variety of feet, especially for us boys. They are comfortable and look great on me. Of course I colored mine black, and if you are looking for shoes to color for any reason at all (such as a specific performance), coloring these shoes is simple and clean. However, I would not reccomend using dyes, pens or sharpies work best! If you are looking for a shoe that:
flatters the arch (especially low),
maintains great balance/support,
feels great even before breaking them in,
quiet while doing bourres
et cetera. then look no further. Girls, you will look gorgeous and powerful in them. Guys...these actually work for us!

I really like these shoes. It's easier to balance and great for wide feet. The only thing I don't like is that there is too much at the heel and it looks kinda funny sometimes. But otherwise, they're super!

Kirst05/07/2008 Ohio,OH NO!
I got these shoes just because I couldn't find my old ones [Serene "V" cut vamp]. So I got my old pointe shoes cardboard box and got the same size that I got last time. They ended up being too narrow =[
So now I'm waiting on my next pair. For the most part though, they look like they'll be a very good shoe for me. I have tapered, HUGE arch, wide and very, very, very small depth in my toes.

Hannah05/02/2008DEFINITELY WORTH A TRY
When I first tried the shoes on, I absolutely loved how they look on my feet. However, they hurt a lot at first because the pad in the toe made them a bit too small. If this happens to you, I recommend that you do what I did, just rip them out. After that, they broke in really nicely and feel quite good, although not perfect. I also got some blisters, which although they don't bother me, might be a problem for some dancers.

Maria11/05/2007EXCELLENT!
I got these shoes because my local dance store was out of my regular shoe, the Suprima. Although I loved my Suprimas, these Serenades have a wider platform which makes turns (especially pirouettes) much easier. They look beautiful on my feet and I love the cushioning on the toe!

I used to wear the original Serenade all the time, and when they came out with the MKII, of course I had to try them! Now I love them! They are extremely supportive and help you balance better with the addition to the box, and I've noticed an improvement in my running. These shoes are awesome! I will definitely buy these again!

I love these shoes. They are really comfy and they break in easily. However, as my feet have gotten stronger, they break in and die way too fast. The only thing that I wish was different, is that they made a hard shank for the MKIIs. Another thing that I don't like, is that I have to put water on the sides of the box to soften it. Overall, these are really good shoes!

LOVE IT!!! It helps me balance a lot. My solo this year has a lot of that kind of balancing stuff, which is perfect! The only thing that kind of annoys me is the heel; it has a bit too much fabric. But otherwise, it's great!!!

I love these shoes except that the shank is so hard. Some of my friends have them but their shanks are too soft. Mine is like rock hard and I can't break them in unless I bend them and even that's hard! What is WRONG!!!

The World's Greatest Ballerina11/06/2006WHOO!!!
I haven't sewn these yet, but I just received them in the mail. So far, I really like them. The new color is more like a Capezio shoe, but not as bright. The wing puff extends much longer on the shoe, and I haven't experienced any bunching. There's also an elastic drawstring, which I'm extremely happy about. The only things I don't like is the seemingly extra material on the heel, and the extra padding. I'm contemplating tearing that out. Overall, I'm excited to get them broken in!

Cat10/03/2006 San Jose, Ca,
These are by far the best pointe shoes I've ever tried. I have wide, square-shaped toes and a narrow heel and these were perfect. I have overly flexible ankles so I have problems with sickling and getting up on pointe, but these have helped a lot. Plus, they make my foot look wonderful. And like other reviewers have commented, they're such a lovely shade of pink!

reese18009/27/2006TOO MUCH MATERIAL
Serenades have been great for me for many years, and I was excited to try this new 'streamlined' version, since I've always thought they make my feet look a bit blocky (no pun intended). Unfortunately, the amount of satin on the sides and heel is significantly more than the original version. The padding on the inside also shortens the shoe, making it fit a little smaller. I still love the way Serenades feel on my feet, but wish they made a version with less material at the heel!

The Serenade MKIIs are amazing! Jumping and turning is great; they don't make a sound and the satin is different, it's beautiful! These are perfect shoes if you have a narrow foot that is wider just above your tapered toes.

Andragayle 01/13/2013 Tucson, Az Age: 17 or under Which has the stronger shank, the Serenade S0131 (hard) or the Serenade S2131?
The original Serenade is offered in a hard shank, and the Serenade MKII autimatically comes in a hard shank. The only difference in the two is the wider platform found on the Serenade MKII. - DDS Customer Service (01/14/2013)
I'm pretty sure that the S2131's have a stronger shank. I have the same kind and I am in love with them. So comfortable and strong shank. - Thatwhitegirlonthatstreet (07/03/2013)
