The arch support in this shoe is excellent but the sizing is odd. I usually wear 6 or 6.5 in Block but had to size up to a 7. For reference my street shoe size is an 8-8.5

Usually our go to

Comfort:
Durability:
Fit: Runs large
This is our go to shoe. It holds up to 25 plus hours of class a week, usually. However, the last pair blew out in the sole, near the toe gathering, only after a few days. I had to sew it and glue it. Hopefully, this was a fluke because this is her favorite shoe. It bends beautifully with her arch. Order several sizes smaller. Be sure to check the size chart for accurate size conversions. My daughter usually wear a 9.5 street shoe. She wears a 7.5 in these shoes.

Nice shoe, but sizing guides are off
by: Deb - 01/09/2019 - Dayton,TN
Comfort:
Fit: Runs small
My daughter wears a size 7 street shoe, I previously had tried a size 5.5 B in the prolites, which was pretty big on her and we had to send back. Decided to try the proflelx in the same size since the size guides did not have you sizing down quite as much. We went one and half sizes down, I think this site recommended sizing down 2 to 2 and a half for this shoe. But, the Bloch site only recommended sizing down 1 to 1 and a half down, so I went by that recommendation. They are a better fit than the too big prolites, but they are too tight, her big toes do not lay flat in them so will need to order the 6 B. I am really hoping that the size 6 will be perfect that is 1 size smaller than the normal street shoe. Other than that, they seem like a well made shoe, nice soft leather, good color and I think once we get right fit will be very comfortable.

Love the shoe. I read all of the reviews first, and wasn't sure how to size them. I should have just gone off of the suggested sizing. I wear a street shoe of 8.5. I ordered a 7, but they were too big. The sides are really baggy, but the length and width feels fine. If I pull the front of the shoe forward, the bagging leaves and there is extra length in the toes. I think the mesh on the shoes pulls the shoe tight so that it feels like the length is right, when it is really too long, about half inch. I will be sending them back and getting a different size. I am going to try a 6 c. I'm not sure if that will be right, and don't really want to send them back again. I do like my shoes to fit like a glove, a little tight. I think if I had gone off the suggested sizing listed, they would have been the right size.

Great shoe - not very long lasting
by: Kaytee88 - 02/25/2016
Comfort:
Durability:
These shoes are so soft and flattering on almost any foot. I love the breathable mesh arch that hugs the foot so well, and I like the overall structure and pre-sewn cross straps. Unfortunately, it seems the extra soft leather is also a bit thin. After about 5 months of 6-8 hours a week they have several holes in the toe of the leather. The Sansha slippers I used to wear never had this issue and the leather was a lot stronger. Really, though, that being my only complaint, I think it's worth the extra money to replace these more often. I like them THAT much.

lousy design
by: manhattandancer - 07/01/2015
Comfort:
Durability:
This is not a shoe for professional ballet. Strange that Bloch made them. I've never been disappointed with Bloch before. These shoes do not meet the needs of a professional dancer. I had to return them (was also irritated and legitimately baffled that I had to pay the return shipping. No other major company does that anymore. Very 1990s. Wasted money.) The design of the shoe is essentially 'gimmicky', with the stretch mesh and what not. Not functional for professional technique, and also not flattering on the foot, doesn't "hug" a high arch. Not built for intensity or endurance.

Ran closer to street shoes size
by: vmsc - 06/17/2015
Comfort:
I don't understand the sizing of these Bloch shoes and the sizing guide is incorrect. What a pain to order multiple pairs just to try on the sizes and return all but one. I wear a 7.5 street shoes and normally a 4.5 Blochs. I ended up buying a 7C for these ballet slippers. They still don't fit perfectly but it's close enough and will stretch out with time. I don't remember having such trouble with fitting with my old Blochs.

Nice, soft leather!
by: anonyme - 03/22/2015
Comfort:
Durability:
Cut and details: beautiful, soft leather, fully lined except the mesh insert. The vamp is nowhere near as low as shown in the item photo. One minor complaint: the front attachment point for the pre-sewn elastics is about ¼” down inside the shoe, but the elastics are a bit too tight over my high instep. As a result, the top ¼” of the shoe (the part containing the drawstring) gaps out right at the front attachment point, even with the drawstring pulled tight. The pink finish does wear off pretty quickly in the toes, but that doesn't bother me. Sizing: Runs small compared to the sizing guidelines. I’m a 7-7.5M or a 6.5-7W in street shoes. I followed Bloch’s instructions to go down 2-2.5 sizes from street and ordered a 4.5D (D is wide for Bloch). WAY too small. After trying on some larger sizes, I ended up with a 6D. The length is now good. For the width, it has more than I need in the heel and arch, it’s good in the ball, but I wouldn’t have minded a bit more width in the toes.

Good quality shoe, sizing a little off.
by: cheerfulstorm - 01/02/2015
Comfort:
Durability:
I really enjoy this shoe on the floor and how the canvas insert into the leather hugs the arch. I have big feet, and took the reviews that said the shoe runs small into account, ordering 1.5 shoe sizes smaller than street (manufacturer recommends 2-2.5 sizes smaller). I wish I had ordered the next half-size up. So sizing may take some trial and error.
Other than that, no complaints. Construction is solid, it does what it aught to, and it's pretty :-)

Does NOT Run Small
by: rscope - 10/08/2014

I don't know what some of the other reviewers received as far as these slippers are concerned. I sized up to my street shoe size (6) and they were way too big. I ended up with a 4.5 which is the same size I wear in this slipper in canvas. I love them, but I should have just trusted my gut.

Great Shoes, run very small
by: balletbritney - 09/09/2014
Comfort:
Durability:
Like the other reviews have stated, these shoes run very small. My street shoe size is a 6 to 6.5. My normal ballet shoe size with bloch is a 4.5C, but these are very very small. The 4.5 was the size of my foot minus my toes. (I ordered the 4.5, 5.0, and 5.5 the first time and they were all too small).
I ended up putting in a second order for the 6.0B and 6.5B. The 6.0B ended up fitting me perfectly. The B size because my foot is very narrow. I would highly suggest ordering your street shoe size. As you see, mine ran true to my street shoe size, not my ballet shoe size. The 6.0B are still a bit tight, but the 6.5 was a bit too loose. Since they are leather, I'm sure they will stretch. The shoe is great other-wise. I love how they hug my arches.

Runs small-disappointed
by: love2dancelive2dance - 08/25/2014

I normally love Bloch ballet slippers. I purchased these as my Capezio Juliet ballet slippers had been run into the ground. I decided to try these and I must say was not impressed. They run extremely small. I ordered the size I typically order in Bloch ballet slippers and my toes were bunched. I wanted to love these, so I taught in these for a couple of hours but I could not do it. I ended up ordering the Capezio Juliet ballet slippers and have put these away for my daughter.

Good shoe, but runs very small
by: KaylanaH - 08/09/2014
Comfort:
Durability:
I like the split sole and pre-sewn elastics on this shoe, and it hugs my high arch nicely. However, it runs very small and the recommendation to order 2 to 2.5 sizes down was completely wrong for me. I'd worn the Bloch Prolite II Hybrid (S0203L) for years in a size 4.5C (my street shoe size is 7 to 7.5, medium to slightly wide width), and after reading reviews here about the Proflex running small, decided to order a 5C since I like my shoes to be tight. They were extremely short and caused my feet to cramp, although the width was correct. I'm now in a 5.5C, which still hasn't stretched as much as I'd like. My next purchase will be a 6C. I obviously like the Proflex because I keep buying it, but beware of the sizing.

So far so good
by: Mazey20 - 07/17/2014
Comfort:
Let me start by saying I am cursed with online purchasing. These shoes arrived and they were beautiful! I order an 8 which is a 1/2 size larger than suggested. OH MY! I could not even begin to straighten my toes. Since the largest size available is an 8.5 I thought it best to return them and go to a store. I bought the same shoe in a 7.0. (paid a lot more than discount dance price too) I think the pair I originally got where a mislabeled size 6. This happens to me all the time, seriously! All that aside, I love the shoes so far!

Great shoes!
by: CLRemigio - 01/21/2014
Comfort:
Durability:
I bought these at my local dance store after I somehow managed to lose a single ballet slipper, leaving me with only one shoe during class (talk about embarassing!).
Anyways, I tried out 3 or 4 different shoes, and as someone with kind of a medium arch, it's kind of hard to strike a balance that's flattering. Too baggy, too tight, you know, the spectrum. But these flatter my arch perfectly! Really, they fit nice and snug while being breathable, and look beautiful in the mirror. Furthermore, the traction is wonderful. I haven't done rosin since the first or second day with them, because I simply haven't needed to. They're perfect.

Beautiful and Durable
by: Momballet - 01/21/2014
This flat is beautifully made, the leather is extremely soft and supple. I'd suggest to disregard the recommendation of ordering 2 to 2 1/2 sizes smaller, rather order 2 to 2 1/2 sizes larger. My daugther's street size is curently a size 6 and she has since outgrown her 5 flat. She has narrow feet and long toes so I've recently replaced it with a 6 1/2. Will see how this fit, since it's a hit and miss when ordering online.

Excellent shoe for those who need arch support
by: Nestor - 01/09/2014
Comfort:
Durability:
My daughter started having trouble with her arches (they are very high) about 9 months ago. She switched to these shoes because they are supposed to offer arch support. THEY DO! She has worn them for the last 9 months and has had no further problems. I was late placing her shoe order so she's been wearing regular ballet flats for the past week. Yesterday that she told me that she had no idea what a difference the proflex ballet shoes had been making. In the regular shoes, she immediately noticed that her arches were aching again and she began to feel discomfort. She is in ballet 6 days a week and these shoes keep her feet healthy through a brutal dance schedule. ONE VERY IMPORTANT NOTE... The first time you buy these you must, must, must try them on in person. They do not have traditional sizing. She is a 6c in all other Bloch ballet flats and is a 7 in the proflex. Cheers!

Could Nt Be More Disappointed
by: koolchicken - 09/08/2013
Comfort:
Durability:
I was so excited when these arrived, but was crushed as soon as I took them out of the bag.
For starters the drawstring casing wasn't sewn properly. It sticks up! Also, I made one shoe too tight and I can't loosen the it because the improperly sewn casing makes it impossible. Then there's the size, I bought an 8.5B. I usually wear an 8B but thought a slightly larger shoe would be a bit more comfortable as my others ones feel a smidge short. These are no 8.5- they're more like a 6.5. My toes are half curled and trying to plie in them caused pain in the toe and heel when the leather bit into the skin! I'm not sure why I even tried, I guess I just wanted to love them.
As far as I'm concerned if these shoes aren't defective then they're simply the worst I've ever tried and Bloch needs to go back to the drawing board.

Well Made but Very Small
by: katwiawsf - 06/26/2013
Comfort:
Durability:
This shoe appears to be very well made. Too bad I never got to dance in it because they were WAY too small & I had to send them back. I did as the description suggested and ordered 2 sizes smaller than my street shoe size (which is a 7.5). The 5.5 was so tight I could not get the shoe completely on my foot. The pre-sewn elastics would have been a great perk too, if I could've kept them.

Love this Shoe!!
by: megdance22 - 05/30/2013
Comfort:
Durability:
This shoe was first worn by a friend of mine. They hugged her arches and looked really nice on her feet. My teacher recommended that all of us get these shoes. I wore a 3.5 C in the Bloch Adult Leather Split-Sole shoe and ordered the same for these shoes. They fit perfectly and were very comfortable. They hug your arches providing support and extreme comfort. An addition to support they make your arches look very nice even if you don't have great arches. I only have one complaint and it's that the shoe gets dirty quickly, especially if you dance on black floors. Overall this product is great!!!

Very Flattering
by: Capezio - 03/24/2013
Comfort:
Durability:
I adore these shoes. I have been admiring them on a friend for a while, and finally purchased a pair. They really hug the arch, and show it off beautifully (if you have really high arches like me, then they look fantastic). The shortened sole on the ball of the foot is also nice, becuase it allows you to pointe without a wierd buldge. I usually wear an 7-8 womens (includes slightly different sized feet), and I have the 5.5. I expected them to strech a little bit more.....so expect tightish shoes. However, I like that cause it shows off my feet. I haven't had them long enough to comment on the durability, but they seem to be really well made. As a final plus, the elastics come sewn on, and they are in the absolute correct position (not too far down the arch). All in all, these are a must buy!

Nt
by: Kalybo01 - 03/01/2013
I rated this product at Average, because it did not fit properly. I tried three different sizes, and it just did not work for my foot. I wear a 7.5 street shoe, and am normally a 4.5-5.5 in Bloch ballet slippers. I had a 4.5 A in the split-sole Dansoft, and a 5.5 B in the canvas Zenith. I tried these shoes in a 4.5, 5, 5.5 B (which is the most narrow in this style). The 4.5 was too short in the length, the 5 was a little short and the 5.5. was a little long because of my tapered foot. Anyway, length wise, I would have needed a 5, but it was already way too wide. There was a lot of extra material when I stretched/pointed my foot (near the ball through the beginning of the arch) I REALLY wanted these shoes to work. They are beautiful, hug the arch, and feel wonderful. For a shoe that didn't work for my feet, they were still nice. The inside of the shoe is also constructed well. I hope this helps! My advice is to try it on in a store before purchasing!

Runs true to street shoe size
by: Gebloml - 10/26/2012
Comfort:
Beautiful, flexible shoe which my daughter is very happy with. However, we ordered a 7.0 since she is generally a 8 to 8 1/2 shoe or boot. MUCH too small, so we are trying an 8.0 and 8.5 in this ballet shoe. Likes the crossed elastic and flexibility of the sole. Sizing is just always an issue when switching styles.

I bought these at my local dance store and love love love them. I am a street shoe size 8, with kind of wide feet. A 7C fits perfectly! I will definitely be purchased these again, but from discount dance because they are like $15 cheaper here. My only complaint is that the elastic started to come out of the cloth that's over it and the little elastic strings are now sticking out. Sorry if that didn't make sense. But other than that, it's the comfort of a canvas shoe with the durability of a leather shoe! The leather is so soft and breathable, I love these shoes so much.

Beautiful shoe that runs a bit large
by: tightsup - 05/07/2012

These shoes are the bomb for dancers like me, whose feet are not shaped like bananas, but who have a nice enough looking point if the shoe conforms to the shape of the bare foot. Other leather split sole shoes I've had are not nearly as flattering. This one hugs the arch and makes me like my foot again. The short forefoot sole is good for those of us with short, blocky toes (the "Giselle" type foot). I got these in a 4.5 C . My Bloch pointe shoes are a size 5xxx, but since the leather is a little more pliant and it stretches, the smaller size works well. I wear a women's 7.5 medium street shoe, US sizing. The leather is thin, but I've had them a year and they've held up well (3 classes a week, but also barre at home 2-3x weekly).

I agree with other reviewers: This shoe gives your feet a spectacular arch. Instantly comfy, and nice contact with floor. Made of wonderfully soft leather that caresses your feet, tho seem a little thin so I'm not sure about the durability. Also, because so thin if you have lumpy dancer's feet, it will show if you buy the pink! These are minor complaints; overall this is an incredible buy.
I take a 6.5 C or D in other Bloch shoes. I bought a 6.5 C in this one, and my big toe is very cramped length-wise. A 7C might have been better. Because I'm in Canada I can't return.
