European Pink Pointe Shoe Elastic - ELAST
$1.29
3.5 Stars
Grishko's 2007 ProFlex is created on the 2007 last, with added features for silence and outstanding pliability. The unique shank design provides support behind the toes but extreme flexibility in the arch, and special glue gives the box extra elasticity. ProFlex is ideal for dancers who wish to build strength through use of a flexible shoe, find it challenging to reach full pointe, or require a quick break-in for performance. 2007 models fit a remarkable variety of feet, with an anatomical form designed to relieve pressure on the big toe joint, based on targeted studies of foot shape and pointework dynamics. 2007 ProFlex is lightweight and comfortable, with a somewhat tapered box and medium platform, supportive yet non-constrictive medium-height U-shaped vamp, and 3/4-length pliable shank. Shank: Flexible. Suede sole; cotton drawstring; ribbons not included.

    WEIRD SIZING???

Ordered these in the same size as we always order in Grishko 2007, size 5.0 XX medium shank. I carefully read all the reviews, which said to order a size up. I chose not to do so because my feet are pretty slender and narrow. The first time DD sent the pointe shoes, I received a size 4.5 XXX and a size 5.0 XX (mismatched pair - weird). When the second pair came, they were correctly paired, both size 5.0 XX. However, when I tried them on, the shoes were too big! I am SO surprised because this is the exact opposite experience of the other reviewers. Usually in the classic 2007s, they fit really tight at the start and break in nicely. I HAVE to return these 2007 ProFlex shoes because they are already too big to start! Extra fabric behind heels and sides. The box was also too wide and the vamp looks a little longer than the classic 2007s. I am reordering the tried and true, classic Grishko 2007s.

    PRACTICALLY NO BREAK IN REQUIRED

I love these! I was wearing Grishko 2007 and modifying them to remove the back quarter of the shank. With the pliable Pro Flex sole I no longer have to do that and can very well bend it to where I want the break in the arch. I like the longer vamp too. Beautifully lines. They make your foot look especially long and slender with a lovely arch to boot!

    LOVE THESE!

I love the original 2007s, but these are even better. The ProFlex shoes are great for my long, narrow, mostly-tapered feet (my second toes are almost as long as my big toes. I wear a narrow 9.5US street shoe and I'm a 7.5X in the ProFlex 2007 shoes. They are comfortable, supportive, and don't require much break-in. The material on the platform also makes them very quiet. Also, I wanted to add that I LOVE how Discount Dance has added a list of the Features in the descriptions of all the pointe shoes. This list is very helpful when ordering, especially in regards to the last item listed, which is a recommendation on which foot shape fits best in the shoe. Sometimes it can be difficult to judge based on just the description and picture. Getting fitted for pointe shoes is always best, but sometimes it does works out to make an educated guess based on past experience with several different brands and models of pointe shoes.

    GREAT FOR MY FEET!

I have a very high arch, and these shoes show my arch without dying too quickly. It takes a while to get fully on the box when they are newer though. I know they are dying when they start knuckling (breaking down at the knuckle of the big toe. My toes are medium length. When they are new, the box kinda cuts into the top of my foot when I go through demi, but that breaks down and accommodates. I've been using them for 4 years now, but I'd like to branch out and get something so I can have something to compare to. They last me pretty well, but I don't dance on pointe very much right now. I can get about 6 months out of them without even using glue or shellac to harden them up.

Since last summer I was having trouble with my Bloch Axis causing me to blister frequently and finding it frustrating to releve when previously I had no issue. I decided to search for new shoes. I hadn't realized that during that time I was struggling because the shoe couldn't support my arch any longer and the box was too large which caused rubbing and blisters (and I had the smallest width X). I had previously avoided Grishkos because of my Mentor's huge dislike in them. She said they were super strong/hard and loud. One of the other dancers I know dances in them all the time and she clacked about like it was a fact of a life. Reluctantly I decided to try them regardless. Couldn't hurt if you're in a store trying different ones, if it doesn't work it doesn't work- you don't have to take them home. To my surprise they were amazing. I felt supported in the arch, pushed over properly, and that my metatarsals while holding me up were not squeezed uncomfortably, I wasn't sinking, and my longer 2nd toe was not smashing into the end of the box. What was even more surprising was when flat in the shoe my compressible foot was still able to lay flat and comfortable with no squeezing or tightness. The shoes are very stiff when you get them first, but after working in them for a while they break in beautifully. Walking on demi? No problem. Walking quietly on demi? No problem! These shoes compared to the Grishko 2007 are far quieter. They have special padding at the platform and pleats to make you quiet. It's true the thin leather sole is leveled so when your foot is flat for a promenade or something you have no issues wobbling. I adore cotton draw string so that was a plus, and the satin looks great when I'm en pointe not making unnecessary bunching of fabric at my arch. It wasn't until Nutcracker that I got nervous about them. I had been anxious since my Bloch Axis' shank was "gumby" to me, I was always checking my shanks in the Grishkos fearing they would snap despite them holding me so well and being a strong shoe. They lasted through several classes and weekend rehearsals and it wasn't until the second to last performance that they finally did. It's not a clean break, but I was able to continue to dance with out pain or lack of control in jet glued shanks. I know it's really the end of the shoe when the outer sole starts buckling and bubbling under my weight. Or just bending the shank to see how that's progressed. I can also begin to feel the shank not supporting my instep. What's also frustrating though is I can get a month of classes out of them, then the next month I hobble by with jet glue then throw them out. This is with shoe rotation and only dancing in them once a week, while I only take 6 hours of class a week. If I were to buy the harder shank it may be harder to work in, but because these are supposed to have easier break in ability maybe not? I haven't tried yet. I'm breaking in my newest pair regardless though. I still find them a great shoe for those who may have narrow, compressible, and greek feet they have been wonderful. I wear a 7.5 US street size. I wear a 6xx in the grishkos in the standard shank. I wear bun heads fluffs and toe spacer for my first and second toe. From what I've heard the shoe runs more narrow than the Grishko 2007.

HIGH ARCHES? LONG TOES? BUILD STRENGTH?

These were my first pair of grishkos ever. I LOVED THEM! The Proflex is a beautiful shoe. The shank molded perfectly to my high arch (very hard for other shoes to do) and they were long and narrow enough! They were very supportive right away and lasted me about 4 good months dancing on them once to twice a week for two hours each. So not that much. This is why I am waiting to try out a pair of ulanovas to see if they will last me a bit longer. However, if you need a pointe shoe to start with, to get the feel of pointe work, an easy quick break in, or if you like a bit softer molded feel to your shoes, BUY THESE! They make your feet look longer, like you have insainly high arches (imagine what it does when you already have those arches :P), and they are quite comfortable. That's saying something when wearing pointe shoes. Overall, great starter shoe! Just wish you could specify a harder shank with all its features!

NICE SHOE, BUT THE SHANK GOT TOO SOFT VERT QUICKLY

My daughter loved these shoes...for about a week, then in her Nutcracker practices, I noticed that her foot was "bending" in the arch waaaaaay too much. I thought she just was being lazy, or something, but then I realized one of the shoes was bending in a different place than the other. I had her teacher look at them, and she said that the shank was way too soft for her. (She's young, so I didn't realize that her feet had gotten very strong wearing her 2007's and were now too strong for the Proflex). Needless to say, I was a little disappointed in how quickly the shank "died." My other daughter who has not so strong feet tried them on and thought she'd like the shank, but still prefers her Bloch Heritage's for how they make her feet look...and they fit better. Anyway, Both my girls have Greek feet (2nd toe longer) and these work well for that. My daughter wears a size 8M street shoe and wore a 6XXXX 2007 Proflex. She wears a 5.5 XXX in the regular 2007's, so they will run shorter in length and narrower in the toe box. She also wears thick silicone toe pads, so if yours are thinner, make sure you take that into consideration in the width. The 2007 ProQuiet fit just like the 2007 ProFlex...which I will be getting for my daughter instead since the 2007 is a little too noisy for a "snowflake." :-) These would be a great shoe if you have weak feet or not so great arches or if you have a really hard time getting your feet to pointe due to bone structure (like my other daughter). It's nice to not have to "fight" your shoes to look good dancing. However, if your feet are remotely strong, I'd stick to a shoe that will last you a little longer than a week or two. Especially at this price.

    LOOKS GREAT ON FEET

First of all, I love the way these pointe shoes look and feel on my feet. I have had blochs and multiple pairs of gaynors in the past, and these feel by far the best. They fit my feet much better than the gaynors, enough so that I can wear very thin toepads I switched from gaynors to these, because I felt that the gaynors weren't doing much for my arches, and my feet never looked arched enough. These are super easy to get over the box on, and make your feet look crazy arched. Cons: these shoes die really quickly, and they become so soft, it's completely ridiculous. After about 4 months, I could literally fold my shoe in half! The shank was completely floppy, but the box held up well. (Warning! the satin will fray on the box) However, even though my shoes were dead, they still felt relatively comfortable on my feet. These look Beautiful and feel great (until they're dead), but are not very durable. P.S. My feet are about a size 5.5 in street shoes and very narrow; I wear a size 4 XX.

COMFORTABLE BUT SMALL IN THE TOE BOX

I love these Pointe shoes they are very comfortable but the toe box squeezes my foot in the metatarsal and put stress on my pinkie toe. I still love these Pointe shoes i'm going to use them from now on. =)

These are my second pair of pointe shoes. This is my first year on pointe and my first pair was just not working for me. But I lucked out and went to a dance store the day a fitter was there. I don't have a very good arch, and my ankles aren't very flexible, and I was having a really hard time getting on the toe. And with the shoe I was using (Bloch Sonatas) no matter how much a tried to break them in, I could not get en pointe. So I ended up buying these, and it's a breeze to get on the box. Because my feet are not as strong, I sewed on a thicker elastic, but most of you girls probably have strong feet. So I recommend these for girls who have almost no arch, and have trouble getting on pointe.

NOT AS DURABLE AS THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL...

If you have very strong feet I don't recommend them. Although they have a really nice color and they are really comfortable, they are just really really soft . They're good when you have performances and you want new shoes but you don't have time to break them in.

I really liked these shoes. I have very flexible feet and these shoes made them look even more flexible. They were also really comfortable and quiet too. However, they did break extremely fast and I had to get a new pair a couple weeks later. I would recommend these shoes if you don't have super flexible feet. Overall I really liked them.

Ugh! I've had these shoes for about a year and i hate them. It is IMPOSSIBLE- for me at least- to get all of the way on pointe with them due to the vamp of the shoe...but other than that the shoes are pretty, and they hold up fairly well.

These are simply awesome. My feet are hard to fit as they are compressible, super wide at the metatarsals with somewhat tapered toes, narrow heels and low-to-medium profile. I was very surprised that these shoes -- which many have recommended for people with narrow, tapered feet -- actually fit me better than most other pointe shoes. I got a XXXXX for my super wide right foot with a bunion, and a XXXX for my left foot which is slightly narrower. Both fit perfectly like a glove. As a beginning pointe student with a medium arch but not so strong feet, these are just wonderful shoes as they make your arch look awesome. It is so easy to get to the en pointe position and easy to roll through demi-pointe. Because they fit so nicely and provide good support with their winged box, I don't really need much padding, except a small gel tip in the platform to release the big toe of some pressure. Otherwise, really comfy shoes.

    HMMM..

I just got these today. I love how flexible they are, but the vamp prevents me from going all the way on demi pointe. I'm assuming that will get easier once the shoe breaks in. I'm used to Gaynor Mindens, so the box feels really, really hard to me (I wear a size 9, and ordered a 6 1/2 4x, and they kinda squeeze my metatarsals). Other than that, I think these shoes are awesome. I have very flat feet, and I was able to get all the way over these shoes the first day.

    PERFECT!

These pointe shoes are perfect for quick break-in and flat feet. I have flat feet and normally get the Pro Quiet 2007. I tried these because I needed them broken in quickly and they are awesome! The sizing is the same for me. I ordered the same size and width. I suggest these pointe shoes to all people with low arches.

    TERRIBLE

These shoes are terrible. I have very strong arches and these gave me no support. I wore them for five shows in the nutcracker and they were dead right after that. These shoes may be good for beginners but not for me. They were also very painful. I would much rather recommend the the Grishko "Elites."

    GREAT FOR BEGINNERS TO POINTE

I have weak ankles, long skinny feet, and a good arch. Well these shoes helped me build my ankles and made my arch bigger and they fit my feet nicely. But now my feet got too strong for the shoe and now I'm on the 2007s. I recommend this shoe to beginners because it breaks in easy and builds your arch and ankles.

    THESE ARE GREAT!

I think these shoes are fantastic! I usually wear regular 2007. I went yesterday again to get Ulanovas again but they weren't in my shank, so I asked to try these. The minute I put them on I fell in love with them! They are so comfortable. They don't feel like pointe shoes. They fit my foot perfectly and are very quiet, which is really good for on stage. I would recommend these to anyone. I think they don't look as pretty when they are on wide feet but I'm sure they're still very comfortable.

    THE BEST SHOES EVER!

I have been dancing only on the Grishko 2007. After reading reviews, I decided to try the ProFlex. Well, they are awesome! They feel like they are slightly broken in, and they look so great on the feet. I would not recommend these for beginners however, because they are a bit softer. The regular 2007 medium shank is great for beginners. This Proflex is so comfortable and extremely quiet, I LOVE it!!

    THIS POINTE SHOE IS OK...

Ive always loved my 2007s and my Pro Quiet 2007s, but when I tried PF 2007s, I was surprised. When the platform started stripping (btw much faster than the original 2007s or the Pro Quiets) it went through many layers and one layer was similar to a foam bandage. It was so hard to dance on and rather odd looking (it was tan colored). Im going back to an earlier 2007 model.

    Box Life?

Does this box tend to wear quickly? I wear the Bloch European balance and I am constantly having to buy a new pair every 2.5-3 weeks because the box and the tip of the shoe gets so soft. I am dancing twice as much this year and need a shoe that will last at least a month.

I have had no issue with the box going soft. Except that I am a dancer who wears out their shank. That is the only wear issue I've seen in my Grishko's. The boxes are fairly sturdy. - Nkay (03/11/2014)

It doesn't wear very fast for me, but it fits longer toes better and the shank is only really good for high arches, so keep that in mind as well, Regarding the box, usually these will last you a good while. I danced in a nearly dead pair this week about 5 hours this week and I even performed in them and they still looked great on stage. I probably would only get a few more hours out of them, but they hold up really well even till the end. sorry the picture is sideways! - Breamckae (06/01/2014)

What color tights would go with these pointe shoes?

what color tights would go with these pointe shoes.

Typically either ballet pink, theatrical pink, or white tights are used with pointe shoes. The typical "pink" color may change between tights as labeled either "ballet", "theatrical", or "European". Grishko actually makes tights themselves. They have convertible tights in style #1010 or style #1009. Their "European pink", would probably be the closest match.

    What does X1-X5 mean? Thanks

    The width of the shoe.
    - DDS Customer Service (03/13/2013)

this is how narrow or wide you need your shoe. I have extremely narrow feet and i use 1X sizing for width. if you have a wider or as some say "fatter" foot, you will need a higher X amount. - Lizashank93 (12/03/2013)

    x1 just means 1x = X. I wear a 6XX so I would get a 6x2 when ordering from the site. - Nkay (03/11/2014)

the x's are different widths, x being the smallest and xxxxx the widest. - Breamckae (06/01/2014)
