I bought this for a show, knowing I would be able to also use it for future classes. The graduated hem allows my students to see what my legs are doing, while the back length keeps me covered. The XL is just right for my 34" waist, but still has enough stretch for me to pull it down to my hips.
I'm an instructor and I love this skirt for teaching. It has great movement and is very professional for a ballet instructor. Fits well and flows nicely, I will probably order it again when this one wears out.
The skirt is high quality, fits well, and is very comfortable. The front is higher than I expected (and higher than I want) while the back is too long and so I think it looks a little weird. I was very hesitant to order it for this reason, but it didn't look weird in the photos so I tried it. I'm not sure if I'll keep it or eBay it and try a different skirt for my purpose or try to use some of the extra length to make it look more like I want.
I used this for a performance and it was exactly what I was looking for -- the skirt flared out really nicely during turns. The material is silky but not too slippery, and it fit just fine.
The only issue I had was the length. It was very long, and I'm a little above average height (5'8"). I had to roll the waistband over about 5 times to get the front of the skirt to hit above my knee where I needed it to fall.
Overall, I am pleased with this skirt; (we ordered Black) classic lines, heavy fabric hangs & ripples well during turns, very stretchable fabric, easily adjusted waste band (via safety pins, etc.) to fit smaller dancers without messing up the look of the skirt.
About normal for average Natalie Dancewear sizes, but runs VERY LONG IN BACK! (at 'low' part of high/low skirt# At 5'6" the Medium fits me well; Large is quite long, but still works, coming to just above my ankles. My smaller dancers #approx. 4'8"# would have fit size Small, #Extra Small would have been even better, if available# but we were able to make Med work on them without danger of tripping.
I purchased this skirt in black. Over all I do like this skirt. It hangs beautiful and over all wears well. The only thing I dislike about this skirt is the waist band. The elastic rolls over and I have never been able to work the elastic band completely flat after only a few times of wear.
Even though this is a problem I still enjoy wearing this skirt because the lines are so pretty. I would still recommend anyone making the purchase.
I have even considered ordering another in a different color.
How long does this measure in the back? How long in the front?
