I would also normally buy a M but the L is still a tiny bit tight (which is probably good) so be sure and order a size up. I think they make the thong strap going up the back wider than it has to be, but it doesn't cause me discomfort. I just ordered some more.
Not much too it, I could have gotten a larger size but I got a small with a 29" waist but It keeps everything in place, none the less. However, lining in the front digs into my skin and an elastic piece on the inside comes out at the top. Over time it begins to hurt. I typically wear it for 2-3 hours at a time and after about 2.5 hours, the lining starts to itch and feel uncomfortable but this is probably because I got a size too small. I would recommend it if you can deal with the itchiness after wearing it for a prolonged period of time. Always soft and comfortable when putting on and I can't feel it most of the time. For first time guys, it doesn't take long to get used to.
I am a male ballet dancer and have used these since my first dance belt. The sizing of a dance belt is like a ballet shoe, it's supposed to be tight everyone. I have about a 29 inch waist and I ordered the medium size and fits great. The back thong gets a little uncomfortable but hey, it is a dance belt after all. Very good quality, durable and last very long. I used my first for about a year and a half and I still have it and it is in great condition. I highly recommend this to any male dancer beginner or intermediate.
Let's face it, there's not much to a DB. As for comfort, this thing is very soft and comfortable, for a DB. The other review says it's a little tight. All DBs feel 'binding' to those not used to them. Minimal lines. Definitely follow washing instructions to prolong the softness.
