Nice alternative to the basic elastic, and matches tights and pointe shoes well. These show much less if sewn on the outside of the shoe compared to the regular elastic, which is a more clean look on stage. Just knot well when sewing, as these are somewhat like a lace elastic.
Gaynor Mindnen, if you are reading this review--this product is an epic fail. If you want to perfect the art of the mesh elastic, study Bloch's mesh elastic! Their product is far superior and yours is garbage.
What made it worse is that my daughter was at an audition and her shoe fell off due to this horrid elastic! I should have known when I sewed it on that it was awful!
All of this ribbon needs to be loaded into a canon and shot into the sun. Sure, you have a look of satin ribbons only unless you look for this elastic, but don't count on it holding. The length-wise strands are transparent and slippery. Transparent elastic isn't as grippy as opaque elastic. So they easily slide out of the crosswise threads, meaning you'll get something worse than fray.
Save yourself a couple bucks and get the Gaynor Minden 3/4" elastic. That stuff lasts ages and blends perfectly with most tights.
I don't really need to use elastics, and even forgot them sometimes on my performance shoes, but I like that these are really almost invisible once you have them on with tights. I use them on my Gaynor Minden pointe shoes (which I prefer to perform in, but not so much practice).
If you like to cross your elastics and you don't need too much additional support, this is the elastic for you. Just in case your ribbons suddenly snap off, these will keep your shoes on your feet. If you need to keep your heels on with the elastics, or want a lot of additional support, this is NOT the elastic for you. Go for the normal Gaynor Minden elastics, which are fabulous.
This elastic is a good idea, but it is not durable and not very supportive. There is enough for four shoes if you do it right. It gets rolled up when you remove your foot from your shoe.
If I could give this 0 stars I would, it is good in theory, but the elastic is very weak and gets all bunched up, not to mention it is awful to sew. It is not practical at all, I had to rip it all out and start over with a good 3/4" elastic. Yuck.
Although it's a very bright, white color, it's not obvious with the pink color tights. I liked it because it's pretty strong at first, but after a while(for me a week?), it started to wear out. The tiny, tiny, thin invisible elastics come out and hang around the shoes.
Around that time, it becomes very ugly.
