Chacott's professional platter tutu features six layers of permanently pleated netting to create its iconic shape. The polyester waistband has hook and eye closures, and the attached panty features delicate lace ruffles on the seat. This tutu is of exceptional quality and can be worn for practice or performance.Tutu runs small, we recommend ordering one size up.
I needed a tutu for a SI so I bought this one in hopes it would be good. The medium fits perfectly on me! I am very petite being 5’2 and weighing 95 lbs.
Pros - Very profesional looking, has perfect shape, sturdy.
Cons - See through briefs, itchy tulle, slightly hard to put on by yourself.
I would recommend if you are okay taking an extra couple of minutes to put on (if you are by yourself), and need a good quality tutu.
This tutu arrived today for my daughter, beautifully packaged and stiff. The tulle is quite sturdy, and my 4 star rating for comfort is because the stiff tulle is scratchy but will likely hold up for a while, so that's ok. The waist portion is well made, of non-stretch fabric, but the briefs do stretch. My daughter has a 22 inch waist and 32 inch hip, bottom measurement, and the Small fits perfectly. There is about a 1.5 inch allowance at the waist if it needs to be adjusted slightly by adding bars.
We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of this tutu. It is not hooped, but I believe once we tack the layers together it will stay pretty flat. The tulle is also a decent length, the dancer I ordered it for is tall (5'11") and it didn't look short at all.
Our only negative is that the satin does not have any stretch to it, and there was only one set of hooks sewn about an inch and a half in. Dancer typically wears a medium leotard, so we ordered the large tutu. However she could barely get it on. Luckily there's room to add extra hooks to make it a little wider in the hips.

Fit: True to size
So let's be thorough. Size wise, I went with the one that matched my waist and hip measurements on the chart. The tutu has four metal hooks in the back, designed to go through cloth loops on the other side. For the measurements to be accurate and hook, I purchased metal eyes (2$ a pack of 4) and sewed them on in the edge instead of several inches in where the cloth loops were (this is probably why most are claiming it does not fit/runs small) but in my preference, I would have done this despite the placement because cloth loops do not stand up for the test of time, and it took maybe 5 minutes to do.
The item was shipped in a fairly large box, turned "inside out" and in a neat plastic bag. It was not folded or crinkled at all, and the "inside out" was the same way I flip my other tutus to hang them.
On its own it looks a bit droopy, but once it is on and hooked properly it stands out every bit as well as the photo without any steaming or coercing necessary. The tulle is nice and stiff, and the waist fabric is comfortable enough. The ruffle layer underneath IS sheer, so you will either need a leotard or briefs for modesty sake.
I'm very pleased with the overall quality of this tutu and will be using it as a base to decorate for a professional costume.
This tutu is absolutely stunning. I have it in the ivory color and it is gorgeous! The Tutu itself is very full and big and I love how the waistband is high waisted. Despite the waistband looking like satin in the photos, it is a beautiful mate fabric with just a little shine to it. The only problem with this tutu is that like most tutus, it runs very very small. I personally fit a size Adult XS or an Adult Small, and i have this tutu in an adult large and it fits perfectly. I also have a friend who when she first ordered this tutu in a size small and couldn't get it past her knees. Other than the sizing this tutu is very gorgeous and I recommend it to anyone who is interested!
I received it as Christmas present and it fits perfectly and is gorgeous. Beautifully made and holds well in rehearsal. Make sure to read the sizing because these are very discriminating in size! I normally wear P/XS and I got M.
My daughter wears a small platter tutu at her dance studio, however; we had to order her a large tutu and still had to make adjustment for the tutu to fit her. It is a beautiful tutu and looks wonderful on stage, just needs to be made more to a true size of the dancers.
This is a beautiful platter tutu. The problem is, the size is to too tiny. The medium will not fit my normal sized daughter who has a 27 inch waist. Had I seen the one review it has before ordering it, I would have known this, but I failed to see it in time. I will have to make alterations to use it anyway because we ordered and paid extra $20 shipping fee in order to get it for a photo shoot.
Just thought you might want to know.
When you first unbox this tutu from the shipping box you might be a little worried - unlike the platters from competitors, this tutu folds up and fits into a small package. The reason that this can fold is because there are no gimmicky tubes to keep the shape of the platter. When you hold the tutu up it's pretty limp and lifeless and you might worry that it's not going to stick out like it should, but once you place it on a body all of those fears go away.
Do be aware that you must wear a leotard or something else under this because the attached tutu panty is sheer - I assume they do this so the costume you're wearing it with can show through and it gives the illusion of matching.
It is beautifully made and I'm really hoping it stands up to all of the partnering we plan to do in it.
My only complaint is that the size is TINY. The dancer this was intended to fit is a solid Small Adult size across the board, but the small tutu could barely fasten in the back. The medium fastens, but the top hook is still rather tight.
I have high hopes for this tutu.
