VERY PRETTY BUT WAY TOO SMALL

My daughter loved the overall appearance of the shoe but knew before she even put it on that it would be too small. This particular shoe seems to be more for a narrow foot. I used a size conversion chart and figured out her size from that. I am learning how to get her shoes without having to schedule a fitting each time. I ordered two pair of the Russian Pointe shoes and the muse actually fit her instead.

    SIZING IS ODD

I have been wearing Gaynors for so long but I find the quality has diminished with their European production that I have set my sights on the Russian Pointes as my next go-to shoe. My feet are wide but compressible and my toes are rather tapered so my big toe gets all the pressure on pointe. With these, I feel no pressure at all. I wear the Almaz in the hard, vamp 2 and width 3. It's a rather narrow shoe and it fits my wide yet compressible feet pretty well. I have no trouble dancing in them even though they're hard as rocks. About the sizing it is rather odd. I wear a us 7 but I wear a 38 in these. I suggest sizing up and hopefully get properly fitted at your dance store. This was my experience with the sizing but it might be different for you. What I can say is the chart is kind of off and they seem to offer you a really small and tight shoe.

    WRONG SHAPE, BUT COMFORTABLE.

These were my second pair of pointe shoe. I have narrow feet, street size 10-11, bunions and tiny bunionette, with REALLY heels(1.5inch)! The sole has A LOT af fabric, and that made my shank move around a lot. The heel was too baggy. Once the box got broken, THE WHOLE SHOE moved around!! The platforms, once they died, they died. The shank was too hard, I have really high arches, and it pushed me over. But, oh, how do I say this. It was VERY COMFORTABLE, and no causing my toes to go numb, unlike Grishko 2007s. Overall, I think these are good and comfy shoe, just not right for me.

    GREAT SHOE

I've been dancing pointe for a little over a year. I was originally fitted into Russian pointe shoes (Rubin) and had great success with them. I went back to my local store to be refitted after going through a few pairs and getting stronger, and they switched me from the Rubin to the Almaz. They both fit really well, but I think that the Almaz is slightly more comfortable b/c it has a lower vamp than the Rubin. The Almaz is a really great shoe--very sturdy (I can dance about a month in them before they are dead), and very comfortable. Russian Pointes are the only shoe that I've worn that haven't really bothered my feet--I'm able to get through a 2 hour lesson without major discomfort. Of course, everyone's feet are different, so these may not be right for you, but I would say in terms of craftsmanship, these are worth the money.

    BEST POINTE SHOE

I was fitted for these at the Russian Pointe store in Chicago and fell in love with them. RP shoes have so many options that it's like getting a custom-made pointe shoe. I don't have flexible feet, so I'm not able to get over boxes easily. Almaz was the first shoe that helped me do that, and it's also the most comfortable shoe I've worn. My only problem with the shoes is something that can be fixed with a different shank (I wore flexible soft). Because my feet are inflexible, these shoes became dead in the demi-pointe area of the shank before the arch area of the shank. The softness in the demi-pointe area started to pull me off of my box. Russian Pointe's "flexible" shanks allow for easier roll through in demi-pointe, but if you don't have good arches I would recommend getting the regular, not flexible, shank to make the shoes last longer.

    LONG LASTING AND GREAT FIT

I started using the RP Almaz after breaking in all my other shoes in 2 weeks or less. I love the fit on these and they actually last. I take 4-5 pointe classes a week and I have yet to really break them in. I love how supported my arches feel in these shoes and I love how they look on my feet. I currently wear the hard in these shoes and they are fabulous. Like other users have said RP's are known for being extremely hard so unless you have crazy strong feet than I would start with the Medium or Flex Medium.

    BEST EVER; WORDS FROM PROFESSIONAL/INSTRUCTOR

Thanks DDS for now carrying Russian Pointe, Pointe shoes! I have had problems with shanks breaking immediately with other shoes. the technology in the RP shoes in the shank has made my wallet much happier, I feel more supported in each way possible; the crowns that differ have helped me (& my students) find the perfect fit to hold the foot with out sinking down and just poor fitting shoes from other brands. The "Pre-Arched" system helped me after an injury while rebuilding the strength in my left foot to get all the way up en pointe/over and again, the several levels of shanks made recovery easier, faster, and less painful. from a flexible soft , and pre arched shoe(which I had to special order from RP because DDS was not carrying this brand at the time cost me a bit more $ than the DDS prices, However, Russian pointe is worth every penny, period#. Healed, and into my Perfect Fit Almaz, at 31 with the early arthritis and being an instructor, I feel like I dance better now than a few years ago and it is all to the shoes! I went from Eurotard heavy pads to feeling so lifted and supported in ALMAZ to NONE, that is right, I no longer use any padding, or protection in my Pointe shoes, except spacers! This is the only brand I suggest to all my students. They have a shoes for every foot type, strength, level and etc. Not to mention they are the most beautiful pointe shoes I have seen. the Satin is an inspiring color of light pink with almost an iridescent white sheen to them. Cant say enough great things about RP! Go for it, and it will be worth your money and your shoes most likely will out live your last #non-RP# Pointe shoes! *Personally prefer the drawstring free shoes. the "V" cut on the foot elongates it and helps to create an optical illusion of a beautiful silhouette. It works the same way "V" cut waistline on Jazz pants helps to create the look of a tinier waist for some definition of curves. You know you want them... Do it! I swear by these shoes! * after I got my first pair of RP shoes my students loved them so much that some couldn't wait until their pointe NOW! A few waited because of cost and now between all the styles, shanks, crown heights, pre-arched versions, widths, and shanks the combinations seem endless, but cover everything that our/my studio is Strictly Russian Pointe #of course there may be one exception. Studio Rule, it works, parents are happy b/c they last longer, students dance better and love the look and on stage you can tell they are all the same color, thus brand. PERFECT!!!!!!!

    LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!

I love how long they last! I would usually break a shoe within a week, these can last for months when broken in properly. If you darn the box, or you can try my little trick if your studio has slick wood floors. I buy the stick on rubber soles from the drug store and cut it to fit the box, as you can see in the picture. The fit is phenomenal! I can wear these for hours without any pain or blisters. They look lovely! I have short, medium width feet, and always looked stubby in point shoes, until I found these! The picture attached is a side by side of a 3 month old pair and a new pair. They hold their shape very well! I love these shoes! I've been wearing them for a few years now, and would highly recommend them to all levels!

    BEAUTIFUL AND STIFF

These were my first pair of pointe shoes and later on I bought the same pair after having gone through several other brands. These shoes are amazing if they are fitted correctly and on the right person. As a beginner of course I had bought a soft shank, and I do have a super strong crazy arch so of course I got a medium for my next pair. Your probably thinking why I didn't get a hard but here is the reason. In Russian pointe's a soft shank is like a medium shank in any other brand. They are extremely hard so the medium threw me off. It took so long to break in and the rest of the shoe was dying. So I definitely recommend a soft shank. Believe me your much better off with the soft ones, my friend did the same mistake as I did. I kill shoes within sometimes a week and these shoes killed me. The box is tapered, with a medium platform, its sort of oblong shaped. As you can see the shoe is white and they are the most gorgeous shoes you will ever wear!! I currently wear bloch European balance (strong shank) and they are hideous. Too blocky, no pun intended. So overall choose wisely on the shank strength, this shoe is meant for any level type and you will absolutely love them!

    What does "medium" vamp mean?

That is, what vamp number does it correspond to? I wear a vamp 2. Is that the same thing as "medium"?

Vamp 2 is a Medium vamp. This particular style is only available in a Medium vamp, so it should work for you.
