Perfect for a novice or professional dancer, Bloch's large nylon dance bag features multiple compartments, a tonal high density Bloch logo, three shoe pockets, wet pocket, bottle holder, and a shoulder strap.
I had the older version of this bag (it's exactly the same) and used it daily for more than 5 years. I was living in Boston and carried all of my dance stuff, change of clothes, and study materials for grad school, as well as half a day's worth of snacks and meals. It kept my stuff safe on public transportation and was comfortable enough for lots of walking around with it. This bag holds EVERYTHING. I have easily used it as a suitcase, where I packed for over a week with a big train case of makeup. I nicknamed it the SUV of dance bags, because it's that big.
This can easily get heavy if overloaded, but if you need to pack lots of warm-ups, costumes, personal stuff, etc. for lots of classes or performances, than this bag is pretty awesome.
I've had this for about 4 months now, and the shoulder pad on the handle already has completely torn at the seam. It's still perfectly functional, but yeah.
I like how roomy it is. I usually have to fight to get everything back in my bag at the end of the class! I have to fight a bit to get everything back in the shoe compartment, since it gets crushed by everything else in the bag once you take your shoes out of it. But in an emergency, I can just put everything into the main compartment.
So, you're probably thinking, emergency? What kind of emergency would you run into that would require that anyway?? Well just a few days ago, a dumpster caught on fire right outside my class! I heard someone banging on a door from outside and went to check it out, and we all had to evacuate. Had I still been using my old DDS bag, I would never have been able to get it all in there that quickly, lol!
The other thing I don't like is how floppy it is. I think in the future I will look into a bag with more stability. When I'm assisting in the other classes, we keep our stuff sitting on a stair case in the room, and this bag is too big and floppy so it tends to just fall down.
This bag has sooo many pockets that I find it quite easy to organize it. It is a little heavy and the strap cuts into my shoulder but I think that is just because of the many things that I put in it that increase the weight. Very nice bag, I will definitely use it for a while.
This dance bag I have had for over a year and it is perfect for me!! Because I dance so much I fill this bag all up and I love it because it has soooooo much room and lots of pockets!!! If you only dance once a week I wouldn't buy it but if you dance alot like me GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!!! Its very sterdy!!!
My only complaint would be the fact that there is only one strap. Other than that, this bag is really great. It has multiple compartments, and a nice area for pointe shoes so they can dry and not stink everything up. I like the sections because it keeps my things organised (most of my dance friends own a black hole) and I have never been unable to fit everything I need. It's not too big to be comfortable walking around with (the size is actually perfect!) and not to small either. Would recommend!
I have had this bag for a little over a year now, and overall, I like it a lot. It holds all of my dance items, while keeping them fairly organized. I do still have to clean my bag out every other week, but it still gets the job done. One thing I would say, however, is that the bag is very floppy, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I just wish it were slightly more reinforced.
The bad has three small inside pockets, a large inside zipper pocket, the main compartment area, a mesh outside pocket (for snacks and a water bottle etc), and my personal favorite: a shoe compartment. The shoe compartment is accessed by a zipper on the outside, which then leads to a bag on the inside. I like this because it keeps smelly shoes AWAY from my other clothes and leotards. It also keeps pointe shoes away from pens, etc... yes, it's happened before. Blue spotted pointes are not fun.
The pockets help a lot from one big open bag, but if you dance every day or you're looking for a lot of organization, this bag probably isn't for you.
I was really disappointed in this bag after reading all of the reviews. I dance 5 days a week and I like to keep all of my stuff in one bag at all times to reduce time spent looking for various shoes or supplies. At any given time, I've got black jazz shoes, tan jazz shoes, tap shoes, ballet shoes, pointe shoes, first aid kit, brush, hair ties, bag with clips and bobby pins, snack bars, water, and a binder with all of my notes for class. So I obviously need a large bag.
This bag, while large and spacious, doesn't keep anything organized. I know most people wont care about something as simple as keeping your bag organized, but its very important to me. The shoe pocket on the bottom of the bag really doesn't make much sense; when you've got stuff in the main part, its hard to get something in/out of it. I hate that all of my stuff just gets thrown in and I have to dig around looking for different shoes and supplies in the one main part of the bag.
For the over-prepared dancer, like myself, that doesn't mind having to practically dive into their bag to fetch a different pair of shoes, this bag would be great. For a dancer that thrives on everything being organized and easy to find, this is not the bag for you.
This bag is AMAZING! It's spacious, perfectly suited to the task of carrying around everything I decide to drag to the studio. ;) Seriously. I love it. The shoe pocket is awesome, so are the many little compartments inside. Plus the strap is easily adjustable so you can wear it at whatever length is most comfortable for you.
Would recommend for the over-prepared dancer, a.k.a the dancer who must have everything. Or really anyone who has lots of things or bulky warmups-- this bag will store it all! :)
it was very large. its like you have to lug it around. i love the shoe pocket!! i take this bag with me when i go to the shoe room, holds a lot of new pointe shoes!! the shoe pocket is nice because i only do a bag sorting about every week and a half so i can stuff all my dead pointe shoes in the pocket and that way i know which ones survived!! pointe shoes are one thing im glad i dont have to pay for!! well its a overall great bag if you need a lot of space
I am a former dancer who now makes my living working with dancers as a Pilates instructor and body conditioning coach for two competitive high school dance teams and a professional aerial dance company.
Wed, Thurs, Fri are my long days. I teach from 7am-9pm. I used to carry three or four bags to hold all the changes of clothes, make-up/toiletries, props, music, snacks, notebooks, etc that I needed to get through the day.
This one bag holds what I used to need three or four bags to carry and has made my life so much easier.
If you’re a “bag lady” like me, you’ve spent tons of money on bags, thinking that the next bag would be the one to meet your needs and this one actually does.
I carry a LOT of stuff everyday and even after having it for a few months, I haven’t had any problems with this bag tearing or coming apart. It still looks brand new and I love it just as much as I did when I first got it.
