This essential kit contains 2.5 yards of 7/8" wide stretch ribbon, 20 inches of 3/4" elastic, 2 needles, a spool of matching extra strong thread, safety pins, and a stitch ripper.
I bought this because it seemed like a good value. To buy the contents individually would cost about $13 (unless you already had some of this stuff). I figured I'd use the contents then I could reuse the case (which does appear a bit deeper than an altoid's tin). The ribbons are great. A perfect matte pink that matches my tights beautifully. They're also comfortable against bare skin. The elastic is also a great color and isn't too stretchy or too stiff. It is however way too short a piece and the reason I won't give this kit 5 stars. It's literally just barely big enough to go around my ankle, and I don't have particularly large ankles. If you're a child, or very young teen this might be sufficient, but any bigger and it probably won't be enough. The seam ripper is decent quality and I've owned dozens over the years. The bobbin of thread holds enough for several shoes and is really a smart thread storage option for a travel kit. Now that I have this kit I probably wouldn't re-buy. And if I were looking to give a gift to a new pointe student I'd probably pass on this and get the Russian Pointe kit instead. But this is decent overall and not worth sending back.
I wanted to get this instead of the stitch kit because it is bigger, more durable, and has more things. The only thing I didn't like about this product is the ribbon. It doesn't have a shiny finish like pointe shoes do so it kind of doesn't blend in, but other than that, It's great :)
