This ballet shoe is constructed of soft and durable lightweight canvas. Features contoured suede sole patches and a moisture absorbent, brushed polyester/cotton lining. Patented seamless, sculpted arch shaped on a mens last. Bar-tacked elastic drawstring and pre-attached elastic at the heel.
Great shoe for my college dance student. Lasted him about 2 years with frequent use. Comfortable & runs true to size. Discount Dance has a good price too. Highly recommend. I will put his age and expertise level on this review.
I had purchased a different style to replace the worn out Romeos for my son. He refused to wear them. He will only wear Romeos. The fit well and are supportive. They do tend to wear out quickly though.
My son dances 40 hours a week.
The Capizio Romoe slipper fit his foot perfect and make his feet look great. But, they only last him 2 days before they start falling apart.
As you all know. Ballet dancers will sacrifice the durability of a shoe if they make their feet look amazing.. The problem is that spending way to much money on shoes that should at least last a week.
I bought these a week before my company opened for Nutcracker. I wore the for one ballet class, 2 rehearsals and 2 shows. By the time the third show came around my big toe started to shoe in the shoe. By the end of Act 2, my toe was nearly completely exposed. And shoes were becoming holy in a few other places as well. If looking for a shoe to last a rigorous schedule, I would not recommend this product. But they are very light weight and allow you to really feel the floor (after a few times wearing it quite literally).
My 10yo son just wore out a pair of Capezio Romeo (canvas split sole). He tried on a Bloch canvas split sole at the store today, but complained that the leather patch under the ball of the foot was too small, and that made it harder to point his toe well. Therefore even though the Romeo canvas isn't the world's most durable shoe, we decided to order a Romeo online -- since he knows he likes it, and we know what size he needs.
Note, our local shop doesn't carry the Romeo canvas any more because of durability problems. But when you're growing fast, I think durability is less important.
