We carefully read reviews and they were helpful. I bought two different sizes, certain I would be returning one, XS & S. Happy to report the XS fits and were keeping the small for down the road. Because other reviews were helpful, I hope this helps if you are uncertain about sizing. My daughter will be 12 in about a month and she is petite for her age. She is about 65lbs, waist 23 and hips 27. The XS fits perfectly now but I’m guessing in about 6-8 months she will move up to the small. After working the tulle a bit, the tutu now sits nicely, but out of the bag it curls way up. I might tack it to keep it more stable, but otherwise it’s pretty nice for the cost and for something that will only be used for rehearsals.
I ordered this tutu for my daughter to wear for in class practice and rehearsal. It is a quality practice tutu. However, it runs very small. Normally, she wears a small or extra small in bottoms, and if we went by the size chart, we would have ordered a small. However, after reading the other reviews stating this tutu runs very small, I ordered a medium. It was still snug, but not so snug as to need to be returned. Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase. And my daughter loves it.
This is our second order for this tutu. My dtr is 5ft7 and weights 113lbs and the small looks like it would fit a 5 year old. The second order, medium is not much bigger. This item needs to be resized, it seems like a child size tutu. We used the measurements but not even close.
I ordered this tutu as a base for a costume. I tacked the layers together and did add a wire, though this tutu doesn't actually need one. I just wanted the extra durability since, when I'm spending three Bennies on tutu, silks, Swarovski crystal, etc. and 50 hours hand-constructing an elaborate Sugarplum fairy costume for my daughter, I want it to last through her playing in it. When my daughter was 5, she fit the small. She's 8 now, and I just bought a medium for her. So this tutu does run extremely small. Go by child sizing. In the photo, she's wearing a small.
I needed this tutu for my summer camp, and overall I would say the tutu itself was ok. The tulle is really nice, but it is short for a practice tutu. The waist band held lots of stains and ended up not being very good. The size itself was a disaster. I generally wear 00 or 0 jeans. Because of this I ordered the small, given that everybody said it ran small. I got it over my hips fine, but the ends of the tutu were in my armpit. I exchanged it for a medium, and all was well, but go up 1 or 2 sizes no matter what!
This is a great practice tutu, especially for the price. I would recommend it, however if you are going to buy it I would order it 1 size larger than you would (if you are an XS order S) I was disappointed when I received mine too small but customer support is very helpful and nice:)
I purchased XS and S because I read the review before I ordered them and wanted to be safe.
Im very petit and slim(size 0), but I couldn't even put my thigh in XS.
Also S wasn't tight enough for me. But it seems like size S which is 2-4 though.
Conclusion, XS is like XXXS (or kids XS) and S is S.... The tutu is very pretty but XS is ridiculously small!
I ordered this for a pointe class and I had several dancers who couldn't get their regular size past their thighs. Once we found sizes folks could squeeze into we found that it laid very nicely, it was comfortable, and the waistline didn't pinch. The tutu has a full yet professional look and was very beautiful on. It was work getting them on though and in some cases it was impossible! Order UP!
I needed a traditional black pancake tutu to round out my look, and despite the inordinately long wait for this one to arrive (just a few days over two months), I am pleased as punch. It fits well, stands out just like it's supposed to, and the construction of the garment appears to be solid (I based my durability score on that factor, we'll see how it stands up to parade season). All in all, exactly what the clown ordered! Can't wait to add all the polka-dots and other frippery!
I read the comment before and she says that it was to tight? It fits me fine. Heres a tip if you know what size jeans you are not shorts JEANS
0-2 = XS
3-4 maybe 5 = S|
5-6 maybe 7 = M|
and so on but you know if you want TO BE SAFE LOOK AT THE SIZING CHART.This tutu is durable i've had it for six months now and nothing has changed. I am now getting a second tutu in white.
I ordered this in a size small for two very thin dancers, and it would not even make over the hips of one, and was excruciatingly tight on the other. The material the basque is made of is very tight and has little give (think spanx) which seems sturdy and lays well, but you will definitely need to go up at least one size. I waited forever for it too, so I am hoping the medium will arrive in time.

Will there be any more pictures or, perhaps, a video uploaded? You cannot very well see the quality of the tutu from the current picture.
Unfortunately we do not have a video or alternate pictures. However, if you move your cursor over the picture it will show a zoomed in view. It is made of 100% Polyester; Brief: 82% Nylon/18% Spandex. - DDS Customer Service (08/20/2014)
