New and improved!

A flattened crown compliments the natural shape of the foot while the satin binding creates a seamless transition from shoe to tight that enhances the leg line and the shorter sole is less visible en pointe. New pleating has "quiet toe" construction and the feathered toe box allows the dancer to releve with ease. A graduated shank and sole and a pre-molded shank offer greater comfort. Other features include a broad toe box, medium vamp, low sides and heel, wide platform, So Sueded lining, satin binding with elastic drawstring and a #3 leather board shank half skived to zero. For ribbons we suggest Capezio 7/8" wide ribbon.

Capezio Arias used to be the perfect shoe for me. I wore them for many years. However, this "new and improved" version is unwearable for me. There is a lot of extra material on the sides which I could have worked with by sewing them. However, I cannot even put them on my feet without wincing at the extreme bunion pain. I am very disappointed and don't understand why they would make such major changes. This is a completely different shoe than it used to be.

I am fairly new to pointe dancing in pointe shoes for about a year and a half. I have been doing ballet since I was 3. other dancers would always warn me "IT HURTS!" and "IT SUCKS!" but I have found that pointe does not hurt with this shoe. I went to the sock basket for my first pair and tried on about 6, the arias were the only shoe that did not twist or hurt! so I bought it. Problem was that I have a big wide but tapered foot. street size 11 (not complaining). Mostly everything as the stores shank twisted on my foot and ended up having to switch my left point shoe to my right foot and my right to my left. after that it worked fine! my first pair was excellent and I got a good 5 months out of them with regular shank. now since I am more advanced and taking more classes my shoes last about 3 months. (not complaining! my fellow dancer goes through hers in 1 month!) I don?t know about the other reviews saying the style has changed but I got a new pair recently (last week) and they are perfect. not really any changes except the lining inside the shoe which makes them even more comfortable! I am very pleased with this shoes, and like I said I wear a street size 11 and it?s very hard to find pointe shoes in my size(pointe shoe size for aria- 12ww).

NO COMPARISON WITH THE "ORIGINAL" ARIA!

My daughter was out with an injury for 6 months, so we hadn't ordered pointe shoes for awhile. Arias had been her go to shoe for a couple of years. She could put them on the first time and dance comfortably with little to no need for breaking in. It was the only shoe that she had found that fit around her bunion comfortably. When she was back on her feet and at an intensive, I had 3 pair of Arias shipped out to her. Bad time to discover that they changed the construction. The new version was very uncomfortable, especially where the box compressed her bunion, and required a great deal of breaking in to make them tolerable. Not sure why Capezio would change an existing style rather than just calling the new version something else. Definitely not happy.

    STYLE CHANGED

I LOVED Arias, and would buy them as my go-to pointe shoe. Recently, I ordered two new pairs for my a Nutcracker show I am in and they fit very different than they used to. The box is larger than it used to and I am now having issues breaking them in properly. Even the shank is hard although I got the "normal" shank. I wear a size 8 1/2 tennis shoe but I wear a 9 1/2 W in the pointe shoe. I am very disappointed they changed my favorite shoe...onto searching for a new favorite! :/

    CHANGED STYLE

I wore Arias for a while and loved them. A little over a year ago Capezio redesigned all their models, since then this shoes hasn't fit well at all. The vamp is at least 1/2" longer than it use to be. Arias use to be a great fit, not any more. I'm very frustrated w/the redesign and will have to change shoes.

    PERFECT, DURABLE, AND GORGEOUS!

I have used these shoes for now over 2 years without even considering changing brands or styles. The shank lasts for a more than average amount of time and when it dies, it dies well before the box even begins to soften! The shoes are beautiful and quiet! They have a really sleek and smooth look to them, even inside, which is more than Russian Pointes and Blochs can say! They are very well balanced and have the shank in the right place on the foot, so you aren't having to struggle so much to keep your shoe from rolling onto it's side or instep (not comfortable). I can dance for hours in them and only get minor blisters and pain! They fit me right, and I have never liked another pair as much!

DECENT SHOE, BUT WRONG FOR ME...

I did not know what I needed when I got this shoe, so I thought they worked for a while. I have small, wide feet, with lower arches and square toes. The biggest problem was the vamp was too high for my short toes and so I was having trouble getting over my box. Also, my foot arches lower down, not right under the ankle and these shoes broke in too high which made my feet less appealing and functional. I have tried Bloch European Balances and B-morphs, Gaynor Mindens, and Grishko 2007 and so far, nothing has worked right. Trying Grishko Elites and hoping to get fitted professionally soon. I suggest these if you have longer, even toes with higher arches.

    ABSOLUTLY LOVE THESE SHOES EXCEPT...

I absolutely love these shoes! The only problem I had with these shoes was that the shank started to twist as the shoe was starting to die, but besides that I find these shoes comfortable and extremely easy to wear even on the first day of breaking them in.

    BEAUTIFUL

I absolutely love these shoes! They hug my arch perfectly and they elongate the line of my leg to my foot. They are gorgeous and well made. The only thing is that the shank is pretty flexible and weak. However the hard and extra hard shank work great!

    GOOD FOR SOMEONE ELSE

I was fitted in these in a store and thought they felt really good. But after I broke them in they were incredibly painful. I have a super tapered toe, and I sunk down into the wider box. Also, the shank broke really high up after only 4 classes. I am sure they are good for some people but if you have a tapered toe don't buy these!

I got these shoes very recently, and i love them because they kind of come pre-broken in, like the box is already feathered and stuff. My one issue with them though, is that they kind of slip of my heel in three quarter pointe or even just in demi pointe, which is not very conducive for rolling through the shoe. I've tried resewing the elastics to tighten them, and that worked a little, but it's still not great. You can also stick your heel under the spout of a drinking fountain and the water will help the shoe stay on. Overall i love love love the look of the shoe, and i feel supported in them. One of the reasons i got them actually was because my old shoes (Block Sonatas) made it very hard to get over my box, even though in technique shoes i have very arched and pointed feet. I definitely don't have that problem with these shoes though, and my teacher even complimented my feet in them :)! I would highly reccomend, (unless you have particularly slippery heels, i guess?)

    DURABLE AND SEMI-COMFORTABLE POINTE SHOE

I switched to these shoes about 5 months ago, after dancing on Suffolk for 3 years, and I'm so happy I switched! These shoes are very durable! I wore them for all 8 nutcracker shows (I had 5 parts en pointe) and they still held up! I even wore them a couple times before and after the shows. Once I break them in, they are very comfortable, soft yet strong enough to hold my arch. I have a moderate to strong arch and I expected the shank to die first, but the box did. I also have a narrow heel but wide knuckles, but these shoes work just fine! I am a size 7 street shoe and wear size 8m in Capezio's Arias. The only thing i do not like about these shoes is that I tried one pair on and it did not work at all on my feet, but the next pair was perfect. So I guess it depends on the maker of the shoe. Overall, I am very happy with Capezio Aria pointe shoes!

    NT A HARD ENOUGH SHANK

I had these pointe shoes once and the shank died way too quickly. They did within a week, and I couldn't stand it. I love Capezio, but the Aria's shank was way too soft for me. Someone said that Grishkos had really hard shanks, but whether or not they did, Grishkos just did not fit my foot as perfectly as the Capezios did. The Capezio Tiffanys look great on my feet, but they also have a soft shank. I was think about getting the Tiffany Pro, which apparently is the same shape, but harder shank. I didn't really like how the Arias looked on my feet, and the comfortability wasn't very high. These shoes may be good for a first pair of pointe shoes, but I wouldn't recommend these to anyone who dances on pointe a lot.

    EXCELLENT SHOE

Love this shoe. But the type of shoe that is right for any one person depends on the right fit for your foot type. Get a professional fitting to find that shoe. that said, this shoe has good durability and really allows me to work my foot.Comfortable. too.

    UGH

These shoes were horrible! They were my first pair and I hated them. The box was an odd round that for some reason did not give enough support to balance and were horribly uncomfortable. The only good thing I can say about these shoes is that they lasted for a long time but i'm pretty sure that was only because I was a beginner with 2 classes a week -_- They even looked horrible. Never buying these ever again!!!

    WONDERFUL POINTE SHOES

These are my 5th and 6th pairs of pointe shoes, and my 3rd kind. I have previously had Bloch Sonata's and Grishko Elites. My Bloch's only lasted about 4 hours, and I had just started en pointe. I had 3 pairs of Grishko's. They lasted a while, but the heel was too big. These are perfect. The heel is just the right size, but it does slip off a lot. It's true that if you place the elastic just right, it won't. I've had them for about 2 months and they still have lasted. The shank and box got a little soft, so I just jet-glued them. They are very flattering, and I don't "fall out" of my shoes because the vamp and wings are just the right length. I have long, skinny toes, long, flexible feet, and very high arches. The vamp is just perfect. The shank breaks at a very nice point on my feet, and like I said, the shoes are very flattering.

    ALMOST PERFECT

I have wide, short toes and this was very good because I actually have room in the box since it isn't that tapered. However, it does put a lot of pressure on your big toe, but I just cut up a toe spacer and stuck it in the end and that worked fine. Also the heel tends to slip off but if the elastic is sewn right on the heel it fixes the problem. Definitely re-ordering.

    FLATTERING POINTE SHOES

I love these shoes because they prevent the look of buckling (on the knuckles) becuase of their long vamp. They are very flattering and supportive and are relatively comfertable. They break in quickly but unfortunatly also wearout quickly as well. Their shank is also extremley nice because it remains strong three quarters of the way up and breaks exactly where it is flattering and creates a beautiful line.

I love this pointe shoe! I have a fairly small foot and tapered toes. My heel is narrow, but despite these things, with a thin ouch pouch, after dancing in them enough, they've broken in very nicely. I have hardly any discomfort, I mean, I have a very strong foot and ankles, which helps, but this shoe should work for everyone!! Love and would definitely roccomend it! I practice about 3-4 hrs a week, and have had these for almost two months, and they're holding up great! They'll last me for months more I'm sure! Beautiful shoe, hard shank really helps if ur foot is strong in these shoes.

these shoes are wonderful. i have had three pairs now my feet are short and wide and the fit that shape. the only problem comes when i wear the box soft. every pair has suffered from a soft box before the shank is dead. the shank holds up nicely considering i have pretty strong feet. they fit nicely but i hate having a soft box. they are a beautiful shoe and the elastic in the casing is nice touch because shoes often slip from my feet when i dance :D

I'M A BEGINNER AND THEY ARE AMAZING

I just started pointe 4 weeks ago and I got these shoes from a dance store... The lining is amazing for dancers who don't like to wear tights !! They gave me a few blisters but it wasn't because of the shoe, it was because of the padding. These shoes look beautiful once you break them in, but I love them. Usually you love your first pointe shoes but I would recommend these to any dancer with wide, flat feet (mine are flat and wide=]).They don't hurt your feet at all!

    PLIE 1 GETS A MAKEOVER!

If you were like me, the plie 1 number 196 was discontinued and you were left without your favorite and perfect shoe. Not anymore! The Aria is very similar to the plie 1. The box is the same width so no need to worry about getting a wobbly shoe that is too narrow or slipping because it's too wide. The medium shank bends easily at the arch yet maintains its strength in the much needed ball of the foot area. The color is less orange and more pink, but it is a subtle difference. It will still match Capezio ribbons perfectly if not better than the older shoes. Drawstrings are still thin and elastic, but instead of thin ribbony material housing it, it is now satin just like the shoe and much nicer looking. The suede lining is soft and comfortable, just a little thicker than the traditional canvas lining of the plie. The top of the box is a little bit tougher to break in at the joint, but other than that it's the same. The slightly lower sides and back are more flattering than the older models. The shoe itself also weighs a bit more due to the heavier materials involved in it's making but it's not too noticeable and still a lot lighter than bulky heavy shoes such as Bloch or Russian Pointe. I'm very happy with my purchase and delighted to find such a perfect substitute for my beloved, discontinued plies. These are great shoes! If you liked the Plie 1, you will love these. Five stars!!

    WORTH IT.

I tried these shoes with a slight reluctance because I used to own Capezios that gave me blisters and were worn in after 3 classes when I was 11. However, these are very comfortable and is especially good for those with wide feet and tapered heels. They don't need that much breaking in, and they make the feet look very attractive while still supporting the shoe. The box is good for balancing and turns as well. Definitely try it. I also own Mirella Advanced and although I love both, I think Capezio supports the foot better when en pointe.
