My daughter has used this shoe for the last two years they are a great shoe, they do show some wear and tear after a year but they are still a great pair of tap shoes. the only reason I had to buy a new pair was to size up!

Melanie02/13/2024 Del Rio,TXEXTREMELY SMALL
It took three separate orders for me to get the right size for my daughter. She wears a 4 in street shoe, and she ended up fitting a size 7 in this shoe. If she hadn't been very particular about the type of shoe she wanted, I would've ordered something else after one or two mis-fittings.

Rumor has it the straps break off after a few wears so we keep them buckled and use shoe horns...sigh couldn't they triple stitch the straps for extra durability???????

Please try them!! I have had other shoes, but none as great as these! They do run small.. I'm a 7 street shoe and I got an 8 1.2! They fit well!

I tried different styles in the Discount Dance store. I have flat feet and narrow heels and had trouble with my heel slipping out of the lace up styles. This was the only pair that didn't have trouble with slipping. My street size is a 7 and I bought an 8 in this style. These were bought to wear while practicing with my daughter (who does not like to practice), so they are not getting heavy duty use. For me they are great and priced fairly. I also like that they are leather. My only issue is that sometimes when I tighten them, the buckle does put some pressure on the top of my foot, but if I wore heavier socks or put a band-aid on the area, it could help. I have had these for 3 years.
My daughter also has Bloch tap shoes and we both have had no issues with screws coming loose as happened when she used a slip on in a cheaper brand.

Threelittles09/16/2015PERFECT!
I ordered these shoes for my 7 year old daughter. She typically wears between a 1.5 and a 2. I ordered these in the women's size 4 and they fit perfectly. A little room to grow, but not too much. I love the flexible, comfortable fit they provide. With all the different options to choose from I am very glad that I chose these and I will purchase these again when she grows out of them.

kmc301/21/2014EXACTLY AS STATED
My daughter is new to tap. Wears a 7.5 in ladies. Ordered her an 8.5 (one size larger, as recommended on the product page on this website.) Shoes fit perfectly! She is very picky about shoes pinching her feet, rubbing on her feet, etc. She said, after wearing them for about two hours (some practicing in garage, some just wearing them around the house to break them in) that they still felt great. Plus, the small heel makes her feel like she has "big girl" tap shoes, but is still managable for someone not used to heels. (She's 9 years old.)

PilotGal01/14/2014WARNING: RUNS VERY SMALL
My daughter wears a woman's size 6 shoe so I ordered a 6 1/2 since I read that the shoes run small. The shoes, in fact, run VERY small. I compared the size 6 1/2 shoe I received to my daughter's size 6 street shoe. The tap shoes were at least 1 inch smaller. I'm returning these for a 7 1/2 instead. When ordering, I would order 1 1/2 sizes larger than the size worn for street shoes. Once we get the larger size, I'll be able to post a review on the shoe's comfort and durability.

BNichols09/11/2013SIZING GUIDE ABOUT HALF SIZE OFF
I followed the sizing guide exactly and these are about a half to 3/4 size too big. Not enough to exchange them, but these seem to run a bit larger than the ballet & jazz shoes that I ordered. They seem very well made.

Peace08/28/2013RETURNED TWICE
I wouldn't have ordered these if this teacher at my new studio didn't insist... though I do not know why unless you're a beginner and have never worn a decent tap shoe. Maybe it's a power thing...
It's important to order an entire size bigger than you expect; the width is really wide and I have a totally normal width foot. Most importantly - and this is really important - the "pitch" is horrible. It's nearly impossible to get your weight out of your heels. If you're used to wearing a theatrical-type tap shoe, this will be utter misery for you. The sound is very hollow and tinny.
Upside? They're inexpensive. Needless to say, I didn't have to wear them to a single class to know they had to go back. If you're looking for this style, try the lace-up Capezio version.

Idontdancedontaskme06/04/2013NICE SHOES BUT THEY RUN SMALL.
My daughter has used these this year and they are very durable. The only problem is that they tend to run small and she grew out of them very quickly when she had a growth spurt

DeAna09/02/2009 California,
I just ordered these shoes on Sunday and received them today, Wednesday. Amazing service.
I ordered as recommended a 1/2 size larger for my daughter and they fit beautifully. She has had trouble with the straps on other shoes hurting but these fit comfortably. I am very pleased because not only do they fit but the low heel is perfect. She is a tween and just moved from children's shoes to ladies and we had a terrible time finding dance shoes that didn't have a high heel but weren't baby-ish. This was the perfect pair.

wheresmytiara05/30/2009 San Diego,
These were my first ever tap shoes in black. Loved them. I then went to the lace up screw-on tap shoes by Capezio, which are still my favorite lace ups and I use them in competitions. I have tried the Bloch lace ups; however, I did not like them, I could not stand on up on my toes. I just now got the tan pair and absolutely love them. I have a costume that is a skirt and needed tan taps and these shoes are perfect and cute. These shoes have wonderful sounds, hold up wonderfully during toe work, and look adorable. Great for beginners to advanced. I will be using these for competition and they are perfect. I would suggest these shoes to everyone.

Trinalouise11/03/2008GREAT TAP SHOE!
I usually have issues with blisters with new shoes, but these tap shoes were comfy right out of the box. No breaking in period, no blisters, just ready to tap. Nice sounding taps, and they have a flattering look to them. For a non-professional, these shoes are really good quality real, soft leather. I went with the "suggested fitting" and ordered 1 size larger than I wear in a street shoe, and I got the perfect fit. I usually wear an 8 (sometimes 8.5 street shoe), and I ordered a 9 in these and couldn't be happier.

"I love these shoes". They are very awesome and work fantastic! They sound great & are very comfortable. I would recommend these shoes to everyone, but buy one size up to grow in if you're a preteen like me. All my friends in my dance company loved them and wanted to buy them for themselves!

I love these tap shoes! I've had them for 3 years now (using them once or twice a week) They're great! The tan color matches most tights. The taps sounds really good. Toe stands are a breeze in them.
I would recommend these shoes to anyone!!!

Rosalie07/19/2007 Simi Valley, Ca,
I bought a size 8 for my daughter who has a size 7 street size shoe. It is a little bigger but wearing socks made it better. She loves wearing it, although it's rubbing against the ball on the side of her foot. Overall, it's great for beginners. I'll probably opt for the softer split sole later. The most I was happy about is how quick their shipment was! INCREDIBLE!

Anonymous07/11/2007 New York,TOE STANDS ARE EASY AGAIN!!!
These are the BEST buckle tap shoes I have ever worn! (I've worn Capezio U-Shell, Capezio Mary Jane, Illinois Theatrical brand and many others). I had to use these for competition and I was freaking out about toe stands. They have never been easier! It's like they're steel-toed or something. The taps sound good and I really like the color. I have a wide foot but these are fine. I like my tap shoes tight so I ordered my street shoe size (they're leather they stretch) and they work well, but I'd say go with a half size bigger if you like a little space.

Since I'm a beginner, when it comes to tap, I haven't tried a lot of shoes. BUT these were the first shoes I used and I really like them. They're comfortable and look pretty sharp. I've had them for almost a year now and they still look great.

How high is the heel
This shoe has a 3/4 inch heel. - DDS Customer Service (10/01/2014)
This is a different brand than the tap flex(capezio). The leather quality is different and this shoe would not be as flexible as the tap flex only because it is a different shoe. - DDS Customer Service (01/21/2013)
Hi, Bobbie. No, they're not. They are a harder shoe but look durable. - Pilotgal (01/15/2014)
