The "Solo" by Suffolk has a medium profile, aligns the foot and assists the dancer to go en pointe. The strong, stable box has a lower vamp in the perfect U-shape. The elegant line of the shoe and slight taper of the box allows the shoe to mold to the dancer's foot. This shoe shank is available in light, standard, or hard. The standard shank is a 2mm board and the hard is a 2.5mm board. Please specify when ordering. Ribbons not included.
Item availability is intended as a rough guide only. If an item is listed as 'Out of Stock' and we are accepting orders for it the order will be placed on backorder and your credit card will NOT be charged until the item has shipped. You may cancel the order at any time before the item ships.
In most cases if an item is listed as 'In Stock' your purchase will be shipped in a timely manner. However, due to the constant flow of orders into our system we cannot guarantee the immediate availability of any product.

Cinderella05/08/2024 North Mankato,MNUSUALLY A GREAT SHOE
In general this has been a great shoe for my daughter, but I wonder if we got a defective pair this time because she killed the shank in just a couple of weeks! Usually her box dies first, and they last for 8 weeks or more.

Isabella M05/18/2018THESE SHOES ARE GREAT. WOULD RECOMMEND.
They are comfortable after breaking in (as far as pointe shoes can be). I have very strong feet and with a strong shank, they lasted 5 months being worn 3 hours a week. I am a 9 in street shoes and an 8 in these shoes.
Fit: Runs large Comfort: Durability:

amelie03/29/2018 Salt Lake Cty,UTA GOOD SHOE, BUT NOT OVERLY CONSISTENT
These shoes look great for performance and work fairly well for class, but I've had a lot of issues with consistency. Every pair breaks in differently, and sometimes I have a problem with the end of the insole breaking away from the box so there's a squishy gap on the back of the platform.

I danced pointe for two hours a week and after two weeks the shanks of the shoes snapped in half. The box held up okay, but even with their hard shank, the shanks broke very fast.

The box is very hard and it dies very quickly. The glue that the box is made out of is very cheap which makes the box fall apart in the wrong places. The shank does not break in nicely and the heel of the shoe is very large. They last a decent amount of time but overall are not the best kind of shoe.

Absolutely amazing shoe! I've been wearing these for nearly 2 years now and I can say there is no shoe that can compare. I always had trouble with my boxes dying super fast, but these have very hard boxes, so even after my shanks were absolutely shot, I still could wear them for an additional week or two. I only had to get one pair for show weekend and they lasted through the last one! They are SO worth the money!

My daughter has fairly small, narrow feet. This is her second pair of pointe shoes and her teachers think they are better for her compared to the Capezios we tried initially. So far they seem more durable and fit her feet better. She has an extremely narrow heel and egyptian toes and decently arched feet. We get the XN width for now and they're perfect. We did soften the wings with alcohol. Suffolks are all but impossible to find where we live, however, so we are very grateful that DDS stocks them.

Lyssa01/06/2014GREAT AT THE BEGINNING BUT...
I love these shoes! They break in easily(I get hard shank) and look nice on my feet. My only complaint is that parts of the shoe break that shouldn't. The satin on one of my shoes tore(this only happened once or twice and you can still dance in them) and the wings have broken on a couple pairs making it hard to continue using them after that happens but with a little jet glue this is easily fixed.

daynaaaaa11/10/2013DECENT SHOES
I recently switched into the Solos after being in Spotlights for almost a year, and it is definitely a step in the right direction. The box is wide and nicely shaped, and getting up and over the shoe is fairly easy. I order the hard shank and the shoe lasts about a month for me (dancing en pointe 7+ hours a week). However, when the shoes die, it becomes extremely painful.

Bubby03/19/2013AMAZING!
I've been on pointe for maybe six months, and I have made more progress in six months than most people at my studio do. These are my first and only pointe shoes I've ever had. When I got fitted for the first time I tried on only a few, such as a few Freeds, and Russians, and then the fitter came up with Suffolks. They fit on my foot like Cinderella and her shoe, these are most definitely made for very strong feet and good arches. The fitter said these are equivalent to Freeds because of the strong foot needed to be in the shoe. SOOOO I love these shoes so much! I hope that I can keep them into the years when I go to a professional dance school!

EmilyP01/19/2013AMAZING SHOES- BUT THEY DIE HARD
I have used these shoes for about a year now, and have gone through a few different pairs. They fit my feet really well, and feel great. They're supper supportive and have a very hard box, which is good for me but not for everyone. They only thing that really bugs me about these shoes is they die rather suddenly, and can get very painful when they die. But all in all- a great shoe!

Rinoa08/06/2011 Canada,MAKE MY ARCHES LOOK GREAT
Since I have narrow tapered feet, the narrowest size fits me only if I use insoles and some padding. The pale peach pink color is also lovely, it matches Bloch elastorib and compliments Capezio ballet pink transition tights. The platform is slightly larger than I'm used to, but I adjusted just fine. I wish they weren't so expensive.

Jenna06/22/2011 Vancouver, Bc,GOOD FIRST PAIR!
This is my first pair of pointe shoes, and so far I'm pretty impressed. I booked a fitting and tried several models by Bloch before trying these, and they were definitely the best fit. I have wide feet, street size 8, and the 4.5XXX fits very well. The box is very supportive and one of the more comfortable ones I tried on. I tried them on with Ouch Pouch pads, which I also bought, and they work well. I also bought "Pointe Comfort" gel toe pads, which I prefer to the ouch pouches, but they add a tad too much length to my foot, making it hard to get the heels on. My only real complaint so far would be that the sole is a little too short in the heel. If it were abut a quarter inch shorter or longer it would be fine, but it ends exactly where I put my weight on me heels, so flat work is not as comfortable as I'd like.

Gigi06/10/2011 Kansas,THEY'RE GREAT! THEY FIT ME REALLY WELL!
I love my Suffolk Solo shoes. They really fit my foot well. I have tried another pair before this pair, and these are better. I like the way they look on stage, they work in class, and the way they fit my arches.

Alicia11/01/2010 Ct,LOVE THESE SHOES.
I've been wearing these shoes for over a year now and love them! I've tried all kinds of other shoes and have finally found "my" shoe. They last fairly long too and give a nice arch. They have a nice flat platform for balancing but don't have a bulky look.

Bailey08/16/2010 California,AMAZING
These were my 4th pair of pointe shoes and they were by far my favorite! They are very easy to get all the way up on the box and you just glide on the floor. I usually have a problem with my feet hurting really bad after pointe, but with these I never had that. I absolutely love them!

Anonymous08/15/2010LONG TIME USER!
I've used Suffolk pointe Solos for 4 years now. They're the best shoes I've ever had! They last me around 4 months, and I dance around 6 hours per week on pointe. The suggested fitting is spot on, so order 2.5 sizes smaller. I'm very glad that Discount Dance is finally offering them so I can purchase them through here!

If I am a size 6 street shoe then would I purchase a 3 and a half or 4 and a half Suffolk pointe sho
Please follow the suggested fitting guidelines for this item located on the product page. The suggestion is to order 2 1/2 sizes smaller than street shoe size. Please fit accordingly. Please not this is just a suggestion, and fitting is not guaranteed. - DDS Customer Service (07/27/2015)
NewOrleansLady 12/29/2014 New Orleans Age: 45 to 54 "Solo" Heel
Does the Suffolk "Solo" have one of those slim heels designed for the "diamond" shaped foot? Or is the heel standard for rectangular shaped feet? Thanks.
They have a standard heel. - DDS Customer Service (01/26/2015)
What is the difference between this shoe (Solo) and the Solo Prequel?
both by Suffolk
The Solo Prequel is the shoe for dancers that want to be a little further over en pointe without compromising life or correct foot placement. The Solo Prequel also helps to deter "sitting" in the shoe. This strong shoe fully supports the dancer while holding her en pointe and has a slightly broader platform for extra stability. Same comfort and specifications as the original Solo. The shoe has a medium-low profile and alignes the foot to assist the dancer to achieve full pointe with proper placement. The wing is comfortable and supportive, while the stable box has a lower vamp in a perfect "U" shape to show off the dancer's beautiful foot. The elegant line of the shoe and slight taper in the box allows the shoe to mold perfectly to the foot. These English pointe shoes have a box made to be consistent and dependable. - DDS Customer Service (01/15/2014)
Unfortunately, no. The only Suffolk pointe shoes we carry are the Solo and we have some clearance left of the Ensemble. - DDS Customer Service (11/14/2013)
the closest match would be the Capezio ribbon and the Gaynor Minden Elastic (GME) - DDS Customer Service (11/27/2012)
It depends on what color pointe shoe you have. I have this particular shoe in European pink, so European pink elastic and ribbons should match. :) - Shortsoprano (02/18/2013)
I use either Grishko or Russian Pointe elastic, both are a pretty close match. - Daynaaaaa (11/11/2013)
dewdrop 11/15/2012 Scranton, Pa, Usa Age: 25 to 34 In regards to the sizing info, what does N mean? eg.(XN,XXN,XXXN)
The "N" after the X is the in between width.. EX: X - XN -XX - DDS Customer Service (11/15/2012)
Just as a note, the drop box for the width sizes is a bit misleading: the widths from narrowest to widest are like this: N, XN, X, XXN, XX, XXXN, XXX, etc. - Kocicka (03/22/2013)
