This shoe looks great and fits true to size. The heel is a great size for tall actors who need heels, and feels stable while walking. The strap and shaping allow for a nice range of movement. Nice choices for neutral colors that go with everything. Great choice for a first character shoe.

Sarah A.12/03/2019 Homestead,PAVERY COMFORTABLE AND DURABLE!
These shoes are truly fabulous! They look like quality leather, have lasted me over a year of constant use, and were very easy to break in. The only downside is that they made my feet look big. Probably that could be remedied with getting the t-strap version, the only difference between the two being that the t-strap heel is 2", not 1.5".
ALL of my street shoes are size 9, and I purchased a size 9 wide. Many reviewers say the shoes run small. Really, I think they might run thin. I tried a regular 9 at the store and it sort of fit. The 9 wide was a little more roomy and didn't pinch.
(I got these shoes at a dance store, but my online review should still be accurate since I have used this same product.)

My daughters say the shoes are comfortable and don’t pinch. Some other reviewers say the shoe runs small so i got each a size 9.5; which is a half-size large to find the shoes were too big. I returned and ordered their true size (9m) and the shoes fit perfectly.
We purchased these shoes to go with my daughter's formal chorus outfit. The girls are required to wear character shoes with 1.5" heels with their dresses that are provided by the chorus. I was glad that I read the previous reviews prior to purchase because they are accurate. The shoes run small, so purchased 2 sizes bigger to get the right fit (not too small, not too big). My daughter is 11 years old and wears a 4.5 in other shoes. I purchased a size 7 in these shoes and they are just a little big. But that's what I wanted so that they will last through this school year. I simply purchased an item that goes into the shoes right under the heel to prevent sliding or slipping. Works like a charm!

These shoes are wonderful and have used them for about two years! They have survived through dance heavy shows such All Shook Up and West Side Story! They are also very easy to break in! They do run a bit small so I would suggest ordering a half size up.

1DancingSr11/02/2015RUNS SUPER SMALL
Most of the dance foot wear I have ever worn in my life has been Capezio brand. This particular shoe runs so small I had to return the shoes and order the next size up. Could barely squeeze my foot into the shoe, and it wasn't the "newness", it was actually just made that way. If you get the right fit, it's a nice shoe for dancing.

PrincessClovertoes06/19/2015GREAT FOR 30MINUTES
I previously owned this exact pair of shoes for three years until I ripped the side of my right shoe in half towards the bunion area. Since the first pair had lasted so long I decided to order another pair. Originally when getting the shoes, I was professionally fitted and ended up going a half a size up from my street shoe to allow room to point with high arches, and for possible swelling. I ordered the same size, wore the new pair once to perform a piece from A Chorus Line and the split the same as my first pair had. Needless to say I was super disappointed and will not be ordering them again, too costly for a one use shoe.

mrp91407/07/2014GOOD DANCE SHOES
I like these a lot, but I do recommend that you buy them at least a month before needed as they are very hard to break in. (break them in quicker by scuffing them on gravel or spraying rubbing alcohol on the bottoms). They do add discomfort on my big toenails, I'm not sure if that is because of the sizing or the shoe itself. Heel height is easy to dance in. I feel like the sizing is true to street shoe size, but I would suggest ordering a half size up.

DancerCO1406/18/2014GREAT CHARECTER SHOES FOR DANCE AND THEATER
I had to buy black character shoes for a spanish classical dance class. These were comfortable, a nice height and fit true to size. They also held up through 2 years of fairly regular use. Then, this fall, I had to get a pair of nude character shoes for my school musical. I had liked these in the past, so I ordered them in nude. They were again one of the cheapest shoes, and were comfortable and a good height. Also, I was a 7 when I got them and the 7 fit perfect. Now I'm a 7.5 and they feel a tiny bit snug, but not unbearably so. If you are between a size and a 1/2 size, I'd order up for growing, but they seem to be true to size. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase, and will buy this style again if I need another pair.

Lianna02/15/2014RUNS SMALL BUT SUPER COMFORTABLE!
I needed shoes for my school musical and the choreographer suggested character shoes from discount dance supply. I had no idea which ones to get, but based on the ratings i thought that these would be my best choice. Shoes arrived within two days in perfect condition. They're super comfortable and are way cuter than they looked online. I have this shoe four stars because they do run small. My shoe size is about an 8 - 8 1/2 and I ordered a size 9. If there was no strap on this shoe, I would be stepping out and tripping and getting blisters. Overall, I really like this shoe and would totally recommend it to someone looking for a strapped shoe for a play or musical.

Dancegoddess01/17/2014THESE FIT 1/2 SIZE TOO SMALL!
These schools are supportive and durable but run about 1/2 size small so order up. I'm a solid 9 in all my shoes and this 9 was very tight, my toes were touching the tip of the shoe and very squeezed. I gave comfort a 1 because they were too small to properly access. I returned them. I decided on a different Capezio shoe and ordered 1/2 size larger. I will write a review when I receive them.

Most reviews said these run small, so I ordered a size larger for my daughter who is 15. Well, they were way too big! So, she borrowed a pair from a friend for a choir event, and they were right on her normal size. So, I have ordered her another pair in the regular size for her in the wide width. Maybe that's the difference, the come in a wide width. ??? She says they are comfortable, they look beautiful, really classy! The original pair is going back today and her correct size pair should be here the beginning of the week. I love the fast turn around and prompt reply from customer service!

Niecy11/20/2012THESE ARE GREAT SHOES BUT THEY RUN VERY
These are great shoes but they run VERY small!! I purchased them for my "tween" daughter who wears a size 3. The site suggests to by 1 -11/2 sizes larger so I initially bought a size 5. She couldn't even get her foot in them, so I had to exchange them (and pay the extra fee) for a size 6. The size 6 fits perfectly, but there is no room for future growth...should have exchanged for a 6 1/2 so she could wear them a bit longer. Great shoe, very comfy, just be aware of the size issue.

Rhiannon12/19/2009NOT SO GREAT
I bought these shoes in 2001 for swing dancing, and while they are certainly sturdy and stable, I'm always aware that I have them on. If you can't try these on before buying them or aren't willing to send them back if they don't fit, I don't recommend them. Since they have synthetic uppers there is NO stretch whatsoever. I wear a 6 or 6.5 street shoe, purchased these in a 7.5, and they are still just a little too tight.

I bought these to use as tap shoes after trying on several other pairs. These were by far the most comfortable.

Leigh02/24/2008 Texas,
I bought a pair when my old ones wore out. The achilles notch is OK in theory but it makes the shoes look short and stumpy. It also leaves a gap on the heel. The new shoe definitely has a different size ratio. The 7 was way too small and the 7 1/2 was bordering on too big. The new folded edge looks unfinished like that of a cheap shoe. As a lover of the old style shoe and the Capezio brand, this model leaves me looking for a different character shoe.

Anonymous08/22/2007WONDERFUL!
I highly recommend these character shoes! They are extremely comfortable due to the inside padding and the Achilles notch. The heels on these are not as high as the other Capezio two inch character shoes, so they don't create as long of a line. However, I've heard that these shoes are more comfortable, and they look very pretty on. I LOVE these shoes!

I absolutely love these shoes! They are my first pair of character shoes. As soon as I put them on, I fell in love with them. I never wanted to take them off. I would wear them with everything if I could. Just be careful when you start wearing them, they are a little slippery. I found this out because at rehearsal, I slipped going down the stairs of the stage. But other than that, they are extremely comfortable. I suggest these for everyone.

Lori 01/23/2013 St. Louis, Mo, Usa Age: 55 to 64 what is the difference between these and the Baby Louies?
Both these and the Baby Louie's are 1.5 inch heels and both have the ankle strap only..no t-strap. How do the two styles differ? Does this one have more padding for comfort or what?
They are almost identical, just different brands. - DDS Customer Service (01/30/2013)
The lining in the Baby Louie's is non-existant whereas these have a sort of foam padding covvered in fabric. Also, these have a normal strap where you have the metal stick and the different holes on the leather, whereas the Louie's have a different fasten. - Dancerco14 (06/19/2014)
