09/25/2024This shoes are so worth it! They do run small, so size up a half or a full size than your normal shoe. I went up a full size.
The shoes have a deeper sound and are heavier. Once your feet stop growing, highly recommend the investment.

Mount Vernon,NYI love the show, but after trying so hard to stretch them I knew I couldn't return them so I ended up purchasing them from Amazon I purchased a size 9 from DiscountDance and a 9 and a half from Amazon what a difference
They are a little heavy but comfortable none the less. I love them. After I break them in I will be spray painting them silver with glitter

05/30/2024These are great. It put my Leo's to shame when it comes to the crisp sound. They are true to size. I did not need to size up or down and I'm recovering from a broken toe. Just make the purchase, you will not be disappointed.

Mandeville,LABeen dancing 45 years plus. Wish I would have had these tap shoes years ago. I'm 67 years old and my street size is a 7 and a half. The recommendation was to order one size larger than street size which is what I did, (8 and a half) and they fit perfect.

Bakersfield,CAI've only been tapping for a little over a year. I've tried 3 different styles and the JSams are by far the best. A little heavy, but very comfortable. Tapping in these shoes feels great!

Lebanon,METhese taps are excellent, especially for people who love tap dancing and want a durable pair of shoes. They are a bit small, and it may take a few wears to break them in, but overall, they are fantastic shoes, and I adore them!

03/10/2023This is a wonderful tap shoe. I love the sound, I love the integrity of the shoe. After tapping for 30 years, I can't believe I didn't try them sooner. I did have to go up 1.5 sizes from my street shoe size. One size wasn't quite enough, though 1.5 sizes is just a slight too roomy. I figure it would work better with foot swelling that way, though, so when in doubt maybe bump that half size. Highly recommend!

Long Beach,CAThey look so beautiful and the craftsmanship is exceptional. They do tend to run slimmer than other tap shoes. I had to return for a larger size even after order a half size larger. So bummed I needed to return and repurchase.

Wilmington,NCI liked the shoes they're exactly what I need. However I wear a size 8 and all the reviews and the website said to go up a half size. So I got 8.5 and they're too small. I will be buying the 9s but they don't have an exchange policy which is super inconvenient.

05/11/2022I'm usually a 8.5-9 US street shoe size, I got these in a 9.5 and they fit very well. Compared to the basic taps I wore previously these are more elevated and I felt a little unstable at first but they seem to be breaking in after a few weeks. The difference in sound is amazing and for tap shoes that's #1!

11/14/2021I have been taking tap lessons for 10 years just for enjoyment and had both standard Capezio and Bloch shoes. Capezio's toe boxes were small for my feet and that is the reason I switched to Bloch. Bloch standard shoes were very comfortable with barefoot. I am 8 1/2 in street shoes and was wearing half size up. Although my shoes were good fit, I starting to dislike the sounds I make. This time I went a whole size up with Jason Samuel so I can wear with socks. I need to get used to the weight which is twice heavier than the standard Bloch shoes, but boy what a nice large depth of the sounds they produce without slapping the floor hard I used to! I am very happy with my purchase.

08/03/2020I have had these shoes for over 4 years, and yes, they now have holes in them but the taps still sound AMAZING! They are definitely more pricey than the regular shoe, but tbh, idk if the sound, comfortability, and durability of these shoes are worth trying another shoe just to save some money... During all my years, I have only had 2 screws fall out of these shoes (they happened at the same time).

Texarkana,TXAs a dance teacher, I am very picky about my tap shoes. As I've gotten older, it is so important for me to have a shoe I can wear several hours at a time without having to soak my feet at night. These are the best! They provide outstanding support, are comfortable, and the taps sound great. Of course, I did loosen then a little to adjust the tone. I would recommend to any serious tapper out there!

Galena,OHI ordered 1 size larger for my daughter as recommended and they were STILL too small! Her other style Bloch's are a half size smaller and are actually BIGGER than these. This style is an odd fit, so try on if you can or you'll spend more shipping them back! Good quality, heavy tap shoe. Takes some time to get used to the feel as well. Produces great sounds.

10/28/2018I bought my second pair of JSams last week because I needed comfortable black tap shoe for performances (my first pair is white). I've danced almost exclusively in my white ones for over a year and I was able to dance in them right out of the box.
.
I've tried a few other types (Bloch split sole, Leo's, less expensive Bloch taps, and K360s) and nothing beats the JSams for comfort and sound.
.
I have bunions also, which is a huge concern for me with tap shoes. The front of the shoe is sometimes narrow for a snug fit (for obvious reasons) but for those of us with bunions, the pain can be unbearable. With the JSams wider style, padded ankle area, cushioned insole and lower heel, it's a perfect combo for me.
.
I also love a deep bass sound in the heel and it's absolutely fabulous. I get many compliments on the sound of this shoe due to the taps' rich sound.
.
I wear a solid size 8 street shoe. I got a 9 in my white ones as recommended by Bloch and they ended up slightly large. I added a Achilles heel pad which helped a lot. I decided to get an 8.5 in my black ones and they are comfortably snug. With this particular leather, they will stretch a bit after use. I'd recommend a half size up for women, especially if you don't have bunions and want a snug shoe.

Kokomo,INI purchased these for my daughter who is taking college tap classes. This is the shoe her tap instructor recommends. The first pair we ordered ended up being too small! We then ordered a half size up which she says is fine, a bit more snug than she expected in the toes (but she felt that another half size up would be too big). These seem to run a bit short in the toe from what I've read online. She is considering taking them in to a shoe repair place to have them stretched in length (this is what some other dancers have done). She says she LOVES the sound they produce but she's still trying to get used to the less flexible sole and how it affects her timing. She feels that the timing issue will improve as she gets used to the shoes and breaks them in.

Dover,NHMy 16 year old daughter loves these shoes. They are sturdy and comfortable and look like they will hold up well in class. The tap sounds are wonderful! She is usually a size 7.5 and her feet run wide, so after reading the reviews I ordered an 8.5 and they fit perfectly.

02/12/2016My 15 year old daughter is in her 13th year of tap lessons and dances competitively in a tap trio. She loved her old capezios, but it was time to move up to a more professional tap shoe. The Jason Samuel Smith was reasonably priced for a professional shoe and after research and consultation with her tap teacher, we decided to order them. I read all the reviews, and ordered one size larger than her capezios (she is a 6 street shoe, a six in capezio and a 7 in this shoe). She LOVES them. She immediately noticed a significant difference in the quality and comfort of this shoe over her old ones. The 7 fits her perfectly and there doesn't seem to be any problems with needing to "wear them in". They are a bit heavier than her other shoes, but not as heavy as we thought they might be after reading reviews. She will be able to wear them to her competitions almost right out of the box with few timing alterations. Fantastic buy, and we highly recommend.

10/12/2015My daughter is 9.5 and has been dancing for 4 years. This is her first pair of Jason Samuel Smith tap shoes and they make all the difference in the world in her footwork! Her dance teacher/studio owner recommends these for the older more serious dancers, as do the choreographers who travel in to teach choreography. They are much more comfortable on her feet and run true to size for the most part. No blisters at all! The only adjustment she is having to make is that they are heavier so she's working on timing to perfect the routines due to the extra weight. They sound amazing....very professional quality.
