It is very small. Did not wrap around my waist. I needed like 50 percent more fabric. I wear size 12-14 shorts and pants. It was also too short to wear at my natural waistline. If you have real hips, this is not a good fit. Not stretchy at all.

It took me forever to find a wrap skirt I like. I’m 5’4 and I have bigger legs and hips, so every wrap skirt I tried wouldn’t quite reach the bottom of my butt. This one does it though! It’s extremely flattering and fits exactly how I want it to.

Lilly04/13/2020 Marysville,WAVERY SHORT, VERY ITCHY
I got this skirt for a summer intensive as they had a short black chiffon wrap skirt on their list of supplies, and my wrap skirt is Jersey knit. It seemed pretty good looking at the model as far as length goes. However, I have fairly long hips, so this skirt is ludicrously short on me. It sits at my waist, which is good, but it is SO short that it barely comes down to my hip flexors, which leaves 1/3 of my bum hanging out the back. There is also not quite enough material to truly look flattering. I'm far from fat, nor do i have "thunder thighs" or "a large tush" but this skirt is so small it makes me look like I'm a plus sized woman squirming into a size 4 pant! It is very unflattering, and is also incredibly itchy. The material is like nails on a chalkboard against even my softest Leos. It also has an incredibly low quality ribbon which doesn't tie very well in the slightest. However, it will work for the summer intensive, although I'm likely to never wear it again. If you are looking for a ludicrously short wrap skirt that is incredibly itchy, then this is the one for you! It may work better for those of you that don't have a long hipped body shape, but they would need to be incredibly short to make this skirt worth buying! It's functional, but not flattering nor comfy. Would not recommend!

I was extremely pleased with the pink skirt that I bought, so I placed another order for the exactly same skirt in black. To my disappointment, the black skirt is about half inch shorter then the pink one. I am 5.7 and while the the pink skirt is a perfect fit, the black one is short from imperfect. It is ok, but definitely not my favorite.

This skirt is good enough but would have been better to have more fabric. I am 5'5" and 130lb and the skirt doesn't fully wrap around the waist. But the quality of the fabric is very nice and it flutters really pretty.
all in all I would recommend it although it is a bit short of fabric.

I got this skirt after my Theatricals skirt was stolen. It's definitely not as good as Theatricals'. I like my skirts to be short so it doesn't cut off my leg length, and this one is too long. This would be a good backup skirt, but not one to wear all the time.

BalletMomUT07/09/2015NT REALLY 'ADULT' SIZED
Product looks good, but the only issue is that it's very small. I wear size 5-7 in pants and this skirt barely wraps around enough. It almost looks exactly like what I am - a mom of two who now wants to go back to ballet after 15 years and is trying to cram herself into her old clothes. If it were even just 2-3 inches bigger in the waist, it'd be perfect. I plan to keep it and wear it though because I'm too impatient to return it!

I love these skirts! I now have three of them (baby blue, black, and white). The black and white I did not order from Discount Dance Supply, however, the blue one I did, and the sizing chart worked great for me! (because I didn't remember my size, and I cut the tags off my skirts). They fit nicely, last for a long time, and look great!

ZipperProblems06/03/2014PERFECT BALLET SKIRT
I love this skirt! I have it in garnet, burgundy, seafoam, and black and I always wear one of them for class. It's a really thin material and it flows really nice. I'm 5'6 and it hangs to the top of my thighs. It looks professional and it's very comfortable and cute! And they're never wrinkly when I pull them out of my bag (and trust me, I'm not careful). The only reason I gave it four stars for durability is that my red one (which I've had for a year and a half) has a small rip where the skirt has separated from the waist ribbon, but I could fix it really easily if I wanted to. I haven't yet and the skirt still works fine though! This is my favorite skirt ever though and I totally recommend getting one!

AdultBeginner03/21/2014LOVE THIS SKIRT!
I own this skirt in black and burgundy (and am thinking about getting red). I wear it every class and have no trouble with it staying in place. The colors match the Mirella leos and I get many compliments on the matching leo and skirt, which makes for a longer line. Length is just right to cover the back and still show off leg length. I am 5"5", 120-125lbs, and have some curves. It is feminine and practical. Washes up nicely and always looks great right from my dance bag. Get it!

Alexis9503/20/2014VERY BIG
I like this skirt but I wish it was offered in different sizes instead of one size. I have a 25 inch waist and no butt and it overlaps PAST my hip, making it look awkward. Since it overlaps so far, it looks very long on me, making my torso appear longer and my legs seem shorter, the exact opposite of what it is supposed to do. It would look better on someone with more of a bottom. I like the quality of the material because it is durable and not very sheer. I've had this for a couple of years and it still looks brand new.

AlexandriaBailerina12/03/2013GOOD, NOT GREAT
This skirt is comfortable and I don't have to adjust it every five seconds like some other skirts require, I actually never have to adjust it which I appreciate. It is not super flattering, I have long legs and this skirt makes them look shorter. Also all of the colors are beautiful, I have it in black (my studio doesn't allow any other color) and red (for open classes) and they are both pretty. This skirt wrinkles really easily, so if you buy it, don't shove it in your dance bag after class!

LADancer111/18/2013GREAT FABRIC AND FIT
Fabric terrific - durable, yet sheer. length is perfect - falls just under the derriere in the back. a little bit shorter in front. the full waist measurement of the skirt is about 36" unwrapped. it overlaps 3-4" (8" total) on a person with a 29" waist. It would be great if it wraped a little more, but I love the skirt and will order in additional colors. Black is awesome. I am 5' 7" tall, 134 pounds and 29" waist.

SadBallerina10/04/2013LIKE A CHILDS SIZE
I was so excited to get this skirt yesterday! It is a beautiful color and the fabric is quality. I tried it on and it doesn't even wrap around my waist enough to close! The skirt is so small it won't even overlap itself to tie. I am not a big girl (5'5" and 36-29-39) curvey but in shape. All other ballet skirts I have ordered fit nicely, but this one is absolutely tiny. I had to double check to see if I accidentally ordered a childs skirt. Will be returning ASAP. So dissapointed.

DebC09/06/2013GREAT! BUT BURGUNDY'S A BIT TOO DARK AND...
I have this in black and garnet. I saw the burgundy, but it didn't match any other burgundy things I had. It's too dark. The garnet is a nice strong red. Beautiful!
But it's a GREAT wrap skirt, super flattering. sometimes I need to adjust the ties a bit, but it's not annoying at all in class.
Just like everyone said, it's a GREAT skirt!
I don't think it's too short, it covers the butt and maybe 2-3 inches below the butt? I think it's the perfect length for me, and I'm 5'5" and generally fit a medium hip/waist wise in leotards. I can see that it might be too small for large dancers, as it's not a very "wide" skirt...It only overlaps by a few inches for me.

Katt306/16/2013GORGEOUS SKIRT BUT...
Ok, honestly, I used to hate this skirt. I washed it (because I usually wash everything before I wear it) and it shrank. So ever since, I used to dread having to wear skirts because even before I washed it, it seemed small. It didn't quite go all the way around my hips nicely and it was too short, even though it's one size fit all. I felt horrible in it! But I just bought it again in black and one in white, and I love the way they look! (Didn't wash them first this time) So just don't wash them I guess and you're good.

I have this skirt in black and I just bought it in garnet. It's the most comfortable and beautiful skirt I have ever purchased! The garnet is such a pretty color, it looks almost just like the picture just a little more of a richer red color. It fits perfectly and I love that it's two inches longer in the back. For reference, I'm 5'1" and 98lbs but I think that it'll also fit people who are taller because many tall people at my studio have this skirt. Overall, I strongly recommend this skirt for anyone doing ballet.

LawDancer2302/13/2013SHORTER SKIRT!
I have had two black Mirella skirts for several years and was looking to branch out as far as colors go. However, the 'new' skirt I received is considerably shorter than the older ones, though the fabric is much softer and flows much better. I'm able to tie the 'old' skirts at my waist with enough coverage for my curvier figure, however the 'new' skirts need to be tied at the hips or not much gets covered. Overall, a good skirt, but beware of the shorter length!

Of all the skirts I have owned, this is by far the best! It is comfortable and pretty, and it's also really flowy and elegant. I own it in black, so I wear it to my ballet class, but the only problem I have is that it doesn't come in ballet pink! Ok so seriously, this is the most beautiful skirt i have ever had. I have the powder blue color, and it is gorgeous. It is the perfect length (about 3 inches below my bottom) and goes straight down from my hips- no poking out or anything. Also, the waistband is very thin so it doesn't stick out of my stomach or sag (a frequent problem with others, as i am pretty skinny). The fabric is so flowy and attractive- a must have for all dancers! You won't regret buying this one!!

I have just started ballet so this is the first ballet skirt I've ever had, and I LOVE it. It is really pretty and soft. It is sometimes diificult to tie it tight enough so that the tie doesn't move around, but overall I'm loving it. It lays soooo nice. It seems to be really well made as well. It's nice that the back is longer, too, because my bottom is a little big compared to my thin legs but it doesn't look shorter in the back, thankfully. I am about 5' 6 1/2" and it is the perfect lenghth. For me, it is absolutely perfect. :) I LOVE it!

I'm 5'3", about 130 pounds and carry all my weight in my hips and thighs. I love this skirt. It is comfortable, slimming and doesn't slip down or up. It overlaps plenty on me which I was pleasently surprised about. It covers my butt and the tops of my thighs, but isn't long. Charlotte11/08/2011THIS SKIRT IS AWESOME!
This skirt is awesome! I wear it in my company-level ballet and contemporary classes, and it's perfect for mostly everything. I say mostly because in allegro/petit allegro, it does flutter up a bit, but if you wear it with shorts and a leotard it's fine. It also covers well(I'm 5'2") and it fits my 5'9" friend as well as it does me. I strongly recommend this skirt!

I am 5"2 with 38 in hips and the skirt is very short!! The burgundy is such a nice deep red and it hits in the back perfect, covering the butt. However, it does not wrap all the way around and is quite close-fitting in front. It flares nicely in the back. I would still recommend this skirt as long as you are aware of the fact it doesn't cover much in front.

Heather C.11/20/2009 Coronado, Ca,WHAT A GREAT SKIRT!
I bought this in seafoam for my Ballet dance in the winter recital and absolutely love it! At size 8, this skirt fits me just fine-not too small or too large. When worn at my natural waist (the narrowest part), it still covers my bottom with a couple of inches to spare. The color is a beautiful pale green that looks great with both my black and white leotards. It adds a splash of color to my otherwise monochromatic attire and makes the outfit a little more feminine. Both my teachers and all of the girls love it. I would suggest this skirt to anyone interested.

L04/19/2009 New York,
I have had many skirts before and this skirt has just the "right configuration" in terms of thinness/lightness of material, length, shape and color. I like how it lays flat in the front and side without any "bulges" so it doesn't distract the line. The length is just right, not too long, not too short for me (I'm 5'3" and 105 lbs). I got the seafoam color and it is so pretty! I plan to get more in different colors so I can mix and match with my leotards.

Color is lovely (I have periwinkle) and the skirt moves nicely. The only problem is it's REALLY short. You can't tie it at your waist because it won't even reach your legs. But once you figure out where to tie it, it flows nicely and dresses up a black leo.

What is the waist length of the skirt for size M/L
Hi,
My waist is 30" and normally wears a 38" self tie wrap skirt. Can I fit into the m/L?
If it's the m/L, what is the length of the skirt ( waist down towards knee)
This skirt is one size and measures 36 inches from edge to edge of the actual shirt material. - DDS Customer Service (08/10/2015)
Which color would look best with a seafoam colored leotard?
This skirt is offered in seafoam, as well, so that would be my suggestion. if you'd prefer another color, however, I would suggest staying with a neutral shade like black or white. - DDS Customer Service (09/19/2014)
I would suggest the seafoam color, which is what I wear with my seafoam leotard. White would also be pretty. - Dancergirl101 (04/01/2015)
Anonymous 07/10/2013 Age: 17 or under Is it good for turning in.
I like to wear skirts that are really light and good for turning in. First off is the material like really really light. And If I wear the skirt does it flow easily whenever I turn. Like will it flow up if I were to spin around myself would it also spin up so I could see my leotard showing as I'm turning?
The chiffon is made of 100% polyester. It is extremely light and airy. The skirt does not weight down so if you are making fast turns it will spin up so that the leotard is exposed. - DDS Customer Service (07/11/2013)
Yes, this material is very light, but it will not turn loose or move around as you turn. However, it may flow up . - Dancerina (09/02/2013)
The material is very light, when you turn it will flow up slightly. But because of the cut of the leotard it will not go straight out like a gathered skirt of circle skirt would. - Iloveleotards (10/05/2013)
YES it looks very nice and flows a little this is an awesome skirt - Dancinganimals (11/21/2013)
The fabric is not 'really' light and the skirt is pretty straight so there is not a lot of flare to it when you spin. But it does flutter a bit. I have not noticed that my leo shows when I turn in it. - Adultbeginner (03/22/2014)
Reba 03/29/2013 Ms Gulf Coast Age: 35 to 44 Can this skirt be ironed?
My daughter cut the tag out already. Most skirts look fine if I hang them to dry or machine dry after washing on delicate cycle, but we bought this one in white and it came out of the wash with creases that look worse than before I washed it. She has a black one and a blue one like this and they are fine, so I don't know what the deal is with this white one.
Use a steam iron. Smooth the skirt in place on your ironing board. Use a cotton pillowcase for press cloth, do not worry that you have a doubled piece of cotton fabric, place the pillowcase over it, iron.. Remove the press cloth and turn and smooth another section of the skirt, place the cloth back on top. Iron. Etc.
Avoid touching the polyester gown directly with the hot iron. - DDS Customer Service (03/29/2013)
The tag says that you should cool iron and line dry. I always hand wash this skirt and line dry it. So far I've never had to iron it. Good luck :) - Tinydancer500 (04/13/2013)
I suggest not to iron the skirt or use a very light level of hot. - Dancerina (09/02/2013)
I ironed my skirt right out of the package - it can be ironed on a fairly high setting and takes the iron well. I have the black skirt. not sure if the white is exactly the same fabric. Try using a low heat first and use a damp dish towel over your skirt to protect it from scorching. I was able to use a pretty high heat and no damp towel on the black and it worked great. - Ladancer1 (11/18/2013)
If you try to iron chiffon be sure to use a 'press cloth' OVER it. A pillow case, or a sheet would work, use a low heat and test only one area for a short time until you figure out if it is working. It would scorch or melt otherwise.
Good luck! You might try washing it (without a spin cycle) and smoothing it out on a counter to get it flat. - Adultbeginner (03/22/2014)
Tags say yes, but I haven't tried it. I would hand wash and leave it pretty wet then hang to dry over the tub or shower. The weight of the water will sometimes take out the creases. I had the same problem but after it hung for a while they came out. The tag does say you can use a COOL iron. Even though I hate them I've learned to just leave those tags on. Hopes this helps. - Sinasgirl (06/28/2014)
Ballher 02/11/2013 Age: 17 or under Am I to tall for this product
I'm 5'11" and was wondering if this would cover a couple inches from the bottom of my leotard. I like to wear it on my waist so would that also be possible given my hieght?
This item is 15" in back, 11 1/2" in front. - DDS Customer Service (02/11/2013)
I think it would, but honestly it depends on whether or not you have a long torso and if you have bigger hips. I'm pretty short and skinny (5'1", 98 lbs) and the skirt fits me really well, but I've seen taller and wider girls from my studio wear this skirt and it still looks great! I'd recommend going to a dance retailer where they have other sizes of this skirt, or you can try it on to see if it fits right. Hope this helped :) - Tinydancer500 (04/13/2013)
It all depends on your body type. The length of the skirt from the waist down is approximately 14 in. - Dancerina (09/02/2013)
Not sure if this helps, but I am 5'5", a size medium leotards (hip/waist measurements), and it goes down 2-3 inches below my bottom when I wear it just above my hipbones. I think it also depends on how your bottom is shaped. I'm kinda medium in that respect. Maybe take a measuring tape and see how far it would go? I think they have the length of the front and back on the description section. - Debc (09/06/2013)
I am 5'8" and the skirt falls two inches below my bottom (which is pretty small) I'd say give it a try and return it or give it as a gift if it doesn't fit. - Iloveleotards (10/05/2013)
the skirt is approx. 12 inches long (size small). I'm very short so I measured it. About 3/4 inch longer in back. Hope this is helpful. - Sinasgirl (06/28/2014)
Victoria 02/10/2013 Age: 25 to 34 Would this be ideal for my 12 year old daughter?
She is twelve and 66.4 pounds, she really wants this, is it good for her?
She may want to purchase MS12CH. The child Large is a size 12. - DDS Customer Service (02/11/2013)
I think she would defiantly like this skirt. Just make sure you get a small size. The thing about dance clothes is that you just have to keep trying them until you find the perfect type you like. This skirt has a very cheap price for a ballet skirt, and if she likes it then it was money well spent, and if she doesn't like it then she has a better understanding of what she wants in a ballet skirt, which will help her pick out a new shirt! - Ballerinachic (04/02/2013)
The full waist of the skirt measures 36". If your daughter's waist is between 24" and 29", the skirt would be great for her to allow room for the skirt to wrap. 30" waist would be cutting it close. I don't recommend this skirt for a waistline larger than 31". These skirts are beautiful and will probably last her a long time. - Ladancer1 (11/18/2013)
It's up to the both of you. I'd buy it for my daughter as long as the size is right. The small is about 12 inches long from the tie and skirt material 3 ft. wide wrap. - Sinasgirl (06/28/2014)
I have a black leotard and was wondering if the white skirt is see through or not?
Thank you
It isn't completely see through, but if wearing a black leotard, you will probably see a small bit of the leotard's color through the skirt. Most crepe skirts work like that, but you never know so good question. Not completely, but especially in light, you can see some. - Lvilledancer (02/10/2013)
Yes, the material is somewhat see through. - Dancerina (09/02/2013)
