I had been struggling with a cuboid injury. I am an older dancer and recovery was slow. I started wearing these on both feet, and I noticed that they considerably reduced foot and ankle fatigue. What is more, I felt that during the period I wore them most regularly I was less prone to new injuries and aches and pains. Another way I've seen these used, which makes some sense, is OVER a fresh pair of pointe shoes as a student is breaking them in -- it helps with heel slippage and also pulls the shank up to the arch during the break in period. Haven't tried that myself, but I think it's quite sensible.
