My 9 year old daughter likes them. She wears a 3 or sometimes 4 in street shoes. I ordered a 7 and they fit with just a little room in toe area, but it isn't too much. They do have the pull and tie strings.

My daughter is almost 9 and normally wears a child's size 3 in street shoes. I got her a 5.5M and probably should have gotten the wide as she has low arches, wider feet, but they will do just fine. She has a little room in the toe to grow into them, but they're not falling off when you tie the front strings.

While we need to oder about 2 full sizes larger that street shoes, these have been my girls' go-to ballet shoes for years. They last forever and the only reason we are replacing them is because they are just so gross from all the wear. As long as they dance and these shoes are made, we will keep replenishing as needed.

I’ve been buying the same shoe for years. It appears that over the years they’ve been manufactured in different places and have some quality control issues. The latest shoe purchase has sharp edges where the elastic meets the side, and the top seam digs in to the top of my foot on one side only. I can soften it, and cut the elastic, but this never used to happen. Depends on the pair and the latest place they’re made.

I'm a street size 5.5, ordered size 6M and fits perfectly with a tiny bit of room in the front because of my square feet. I have a big toe also but it doesn't stick out and my toes don't crunch. It's a snug but not-tight fit. Also makes my feet look pointy

I ordered these shoes a half size larger than my street shoe size and my big toe was literally hitting the tip of the shoe. I will be re ordering a whole size larger than my street shoe (keep in mind they will stretch a little bit too). Otherwise, I love the style of the shoe! They make my arch look super nice and I love the criss-cross elastics.

My daughter alternates between Capezio and Bloch for flats and I'm glad we were fitted for these shoes prior to her intensive next week as she needed a size and a half larger than her normal street size. The leather is buttery soft and the shoes wear well but the sizing is definitely wonky!

These shoes are lovely, and offer a very tight slimline fit and are made of the softest kid skin leather. I wear 9.5 street size and bought these in 9.5M, knowing that they will stretch somewhat. I probably should have bought 10, but the 9.5 are definitely still danceable. There is no excess material anywhere, like most ballet slippers would have, no baggy extra pleats and material. The inside is what appears to be a moisture wick soft material, that gently cradles your foot. These are the most comfortable ballet slippers I've ever owned.

Ballet slippers have improved dramatically in the 12 years since I stopped dancing. Am now getting back into it slowly and decided to try these shoes. I'm very extremely pleased with the style. My arch has never looked so good in ballet flats, believe me!
It'll take some time to see how they mold to my feet and whether or not I like the leather material since I used to wear only canvas. So far, so good though!
Please note, these do run small. In street shoes, I'm normally between an 8.5 and a 9, depending on whether I'm barefoot. Based on other reviews, I sized up to a 10 in these, and it's a perfect fit.

This slipper is made very nice and very soft. However, I only rated it 2 stars because of the sizing. Capezio needs to reconsider their sizing recommendations. My daughter is 11 years old and wears a Ladies size 6.5 fits her exactly-street size. I order the
7.5 after reading the reviews. Her toes had to curl on the ends just to try them on. I will not reorder and even attempt to resize them. Ordering Bloch.

I ordered size 7W because I have bunions on both feet that need some extra room- fit perfectly. My street shoes size is normally a 6.5 or a 7. I've danced in these quite a bit and they seem to be holding up fairly well. The elastic is sewn at the perfect tightness.

I was told to buy this specific style and I failed to read the reviews like I normally do. I wish I had because I ordered a 9 1/2 which is what my daughter normally wears and it is fitting more like an 8. I will now have to pay shipping to return them and hope that the 10 1/2 will fit, I may even order an 11. It would be nice if it was closer to the shoe size that it is suppose to be. They appear to be very well made so I am hoping for the price and hassle of reordering that they will be durable and last.

NYDancer12/05/2015NICE - WOULD PURCHASE AGAIN
This is my daughter's 2nd pair. We've tried a few others but she finds these most comfortable. Soft, comfortable leather. no sewing required (criss-cross elastic comes attached). Soft padding inside (it did eventually fall out of her first pair, but still liked them enough to buy them again, plus she outgrows them by the time they are really worn). Sizing is funny - she wears child's street shoe size 3. She is wearing the Adult 7 in these. (maybe a bit of room to grow, but Adult 6 felt too small). She finds them a bit wide up front, but we just pull the strings for a snugger fit. We haven't found any that fit with less sag at front and same comfort. Her feet are probably on the narrow side. Overall I would recommend.

My 10 year old dancer loves these shoes. I love the fact that the elastics are pre-sewn. However this is the second pair that were defective due to being sewn through the adjusting elastic. I returned the first pair but decided to keep these and remove and re-sew the trouble spots. I would give them one more chance when these need to be replaced, but then will be looking for a new shoe.

ReginaUmbras08/23/2015TOO NARROW
I have wide, boxy feet and I bought this shoe hoping to find something a little more flattering than the Blochs I had been wearing. I've been wearing leather split-sole shoes almost exclusively for the last eight years. Based on information from the sizing charts, I ordered the same as my street shoe size (7.5). I also ordered the wide width because I was pretty sure that would be correct. In pointe shoes I wear a 5X width. Well, I took them out of the package and right away I could tell they weren't going to be wide enough. I put them on just to see and the length and heel cup were perfect, but the toe width was just way too narrow. I'm going to return them and try Sanshas. If you have narrow feet these might work well for you, but stay away if your feet are wide like mine!

JazzDancerMom10/09/2014COMFORTABLE SHOES - LOVE THAT THEY ARE...
To be honest, my daughter was fitted at a dance store for her first pair of Juliet split sole shoes. My daughter has a more slender foot and the Capezio, Juliet shoe fits her foot very nicely.
I am grateful that they now come with the straps pre-sewn, making them ready to wear right out of the box!
The shoes do run a size or so small compared to street shoes, but we have noticed that with other brands as well.
The only down side I see witht hte ballet shooes is that the leather is so soft and supple that they tend to wear quickly (especially in the big toe which gets the most and strongest abuse.)

I absolutely love these! I was due for new ballet shoes and tried Bloch's proflex but I was not impressed so I decided to re-order (I have ordered them in the past) the Capezio Juliet ballet slipper. They feel like second skin, great to show beautiful arches, wonderful for pirouettes, ultra comfortable. I used to be partial to Bloch but I am slowly converting to Capezio in all styles of dance shoes.

KaylanaH08/09/2014LOVELY TO WEAR BUT POOR QUALITY
My feet look and feel great in these shoes, which is why I've purchased them several times. The leather is thin (this is both a pro and a con) and they fit smoothly, like a glove. My street shoe size is 7 to 7.5, medium to slightly wide width, and the 7.5W fits perfectly. They would be my favorite shoes if they didn't wear out so quickly. Unfortunately, the elastics are very thin, poorly attached and often rip, and one of my last pair (I've owned 3) fell apart at the seam along the suede patch under the ball of my foot the second time I wore them. I could try to resew the sole and change the elastics on each pair I buy, but I shouldn't have to--the construction should be better to start with.

Anonymous93748606/19/2014SUPER COMFORTABLE AND DURABLE, AND...
I've been using the same pair of these shoes for about two years and I love them. They fit very comfortably. The lining and pads are soft, which I prefer. I absolutely bought these for aesthetic reasons originally because they do not bunch and make my arch look fabulous, and the leather looks just as soft as it feels. However I very quickly fell in love with everything else about them. This shoe is also extremely durable, as in two years of constant and frequent use, they have held up remarkably well, which is why I'm having a hard time justifying buying a new pair - aside from the bottoms being dirty, these still look and feel fairly new. The only thing that has happened to them is that a few months ago, one of the heel pads came off, but that didn't bother me much.
I did order a bunch of sizes originally and found that one full size up from my street shoe size fits the best.
Overall, I highly recommend this shoe - it looks amazing, feels soft and comfortable, and is extremely durable.

DancerCO1406/17/2014WEAR THROUGH QUICKLY
I had to wear leather ballet shoes for a show, instead of my regular canvas. These slippers are very comfortable and contour the foot nicely. The liner is very fuzzy, which took a bit to get used to, but wasn't bad. However, I wore through the outermost layer, the finish that makes them pink, in less than a month, wearing them only once or twice a week. Also, the marley flooring was starting to become untapped in one of the studios, and the edge grabbed the corner of the leather pad under the ball of my foot. It ripped the stitching out. I resewed it, and continued to wear the shoes. These slippers are not worth it as they ripped and wore through really quickly, despite being so comfortable.

MissGrenko04/13/2014COMFORTABLE, BUT THEY STRETCH TOO MUCH!
I had been using the canvas version of these shoes for a long time, and decided to try the leather version. I ordered the same size as the canvas, and they fit very nicely at first. They were sooooo soft and comfortable.
But fast-forward about a month, and they are so stretched out that they barely stay on my feet! They have stretched out almost an entire half size, which is very significant because you want your slippers to be very snug. I am constantly pulling them back on my feet after every combination in class! Also, the dye rubs off quickly and the shoes turn an ugly gray in the places that get the most wear. In short, I will not buy these again and go back to the canvas version.

My daughter is a 9 1/2. I ordered a 10 (since there is no 10 1/2 and 11 seemed TOO big).

GloryGraceDance05/27/2013SO MUCH LIKE CANVAS!
I have the weirdest foot on earth and this shoe fits it! I wear a 7.5 - 8.0 in ladies street shoe and the 7.0 fit like a glove with no bagging at the sides on releve and no bunching at the heel in a fully stretched tendu. The leather is smooth without wrinkle or bunching in sight. The shoe does include enough elastic to cinch five pair of shoes, but, hey, that's what scissors are for :) The color is great and matches Natalie pink tights perfectly.

shesalwaysdancing24704/15/2013LASTED FOREVER!!
I love this shoe so much. As a person who doesn't have great feet and has had problems with arch pain, I love these shoes. They make my feet look so much better than a normal pair of ballet flats and they provide great support. These have lasted me four years with about 15 to 20 hours of dancing a week, which is twice as long as any other shoe. Also the leather molds to my foot well. Recently they got holes in the toes and I was upset because my local dance store doesn't sell them anymore. I'm so glad discount dance does. I suggest the Juliets to any and everyone.

ThePhantomIzzy01/18/2013JUST LIKE JULIET AND HER ROMEO.
I bought these in Summer 2012 for my last year of Intermediate ballet, and I'll be going to Senior status next year. I had looked at these shoes online and was very happy to find a shoe called Juliet because I love Romeo and Juliet, and my favorite drum corps played a show called Juliet. I told my fitter about this shoe after we didn't find any other brands or shoes I looked good in, so we tried this one on and I immediately fell in love. I tried the canvas version, but that looked awful. The shoe had nice foam padding, but that quickly wore away. I wear these tightless. This was my first pair that you had to sew the elastics in, which was annoying, but I worked it out. The size 7M fits me well, and I usually wear 6.5ish. The shoe is very comfortable, and I am definitely getting these again! Mine are beginning to wear out, after one semester of 1hr 15min of ballet a week. Hope you have a great experience like I did!

Nutcrazy01/06/2013PERFECT PERFORMANCE SHOES
I love these shoes! This year I played Clara in my dance studios Nutcracker and I wore these shoes. In our show every dancer must wear leather shoes for protection. For the past 5 years I have only worn canvas shoes so I was extremely concerned about how my feet would look in leather shoes, but these are amazing! They look and feel amazing. Now I even wear these shoes for certain ballet classes, but like everything great these shoes also have their problems. The straps are sewn in horribly! In fact I was rehursing a turning section in my costume five minutes before the show when my strap dettached from my shoes. I figured it was just my bad sewing job but it was one of the preattached straps that fell off. Luckily I had a needle and thread, but I'm never trusting the preattached straps again. That night I went home and sewed over all my straps again. Also I know it was not just my own shoes because my it happened to my really good friend while she was dancing on stage, and she was also wearing the juliets! Overall these are amazing shoes that just need a little help.
These shoes fit me really nicely! After I sewed on the elastics and saw how nice my feet looked, I was eager to wear them to class. Once I wore them to class though, they scuffed right away with the first tendue. I was really disappointed. They look awful now, and probably won't last longer. I take 3 classes a week and I just finished Nutcracker, and all of the pink on the toes is gone. These shoes are comfortable and look nice, but don't last long.

I tried on a lot of soft shoes, even ones in narrow sizing with the drawstrings at maximum and this was the only model that didn't bag around my foot during releve. The split sole Juliet also accentuates my arch really well. The Light Pink color matches the Capezio Ballet Pink tights perfectly.

Laura04/14/2009 New York,COLOR IS HORRENDOUS
I absolutely love these shoes. They are the most comfortable ballet slippers I have ever tried, and believe me, I have tried 'em all! I'm tempted to keep looking for something else because I am so bothered by the color, but I cannot part with these, as they make my feet look phenomenal and they feel so great. I highly recommend these shoes (unless you really want a pink ballet slipper). I tried the canvas. It was okay. The leather is where it's at (since it really stretches with you and molds to your foot). These shoes also were pretty durable and lived a full life (I dance a lot, so I wasn't surprised that I only got 5 months out of them; I actually consider that good). If you're not dancing a lot, I suppose this would last you a full year. My only complaint is that they really should make a lighter color, at least just as an extra option. I know some people don't like the really pink ballet shoes, but I personally can't stand wearing tan shoes with my beautifully pink ballet tights.

I got these a year or two first...and I hated them! They slipped around and I couldn't feel the floor. But I got them recently and they are great! I got a size smaller and they fit like a glove, I hardly need to wear the elastics! They have a big elastic and a skinnier one so you can choose to your preference. They fit very well and look great on my foot, but the color is icky, it's not pink at all, it's more tan. Also, it came with one thick strap and one thin one. I don't know what to do with them!

Vicki, F01/22/2008 Kansas,
I LOVE this shoe. I got it the same day I needed to go to dance class. I didn't know if one elastic band is thinner than the other, or one is fatter.

I liked these very much. After about 3 months consisting of 4 classes a week, the inside lining wrinkled up causing the foam cushioning to tatter. I ripped the lining out and wore them until I could get another pair but they were no longer comfortable.

Kaen12/06/2007 Illinois,HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
An Excellent shoe that is extremely soft inside and out, incredibly light-weight, and blends in well with flesh-tones, due to its color. After years with the same brand of canvas shoe, I was pleasantly surprised and pleased to feel no "lumpage" under the balls and toes, when on releve. Street shoe size was ordered, and with some adjustments to the drawstring elastic, they fit like a second skin.

S.08/22/2007THESE SHOES ARE AMAZING!
I've had these shoes for years, and they are absolutely amazing. Super soft leather, and they don't hide my feet like seamed shoes do. They do fit to street size, and come with a choice of thin or wide elastic. The pink is more a brownish quartz colour, but looks amazing in bare feet. They really work with your body when dancing. I absolutely love them and wouldn't wear anything else. And I'm very picky about my dance shoes.

Older than average dancer07/12/2007 Rocky Mountains,
I like these shoes. I wear them without any elastic straps, and they stay on my feet pretty well. They are comfy, cause no pain and have no odor. I bought my street-size, and after a month of use, they still fit properly. I also like the "pink rose quartz" color, because it looks like a flesh-tone. (I'm not fond of real "pink".) Now if I could only find a pair of footless or capri tights to match.

I got these shoes a couple years ago, then switched to Sansha canvas, which were good for a while. But now I just ordered these again. They have the comfort of the canvas, with the look of leather. They stretch to conform to your foot, and move with it. Pretty much, they're great. And they look nice on stage.

Cyndie09/01/2006 California,I LOVE THESE SHOES!!!
These are the most comfortable things I've ever put on my feet. The shoes (same size as my street shoes) conform to my feet without squishing my toes. I've taken to wearing them with footless tights just because the brushed cotton lining is so soft. Also, my feet sweat a lot, and the lining really helps pull the moisture away from my feet. The split-sole makes toe-point easy. My Juliets look great, and they're super comfortable to dance in. Did I mention that I love these shoes? As others have mentioned, "pink rose quartz" is deceptive. They're more of a pinkish beige color. The color's not bad, but it's definitely not pink.

Angela08/29/2006 Georgia,COLOR BLAH!
I agree with an earlier review that "pink rose quartz" is a nasty shade. This shoe is more of a taupe. If your instructor requires pink, I recommend a different shoe. As for me, a teacher, I like the shoe. The pad on the ball is a little thick at first, but the shoe fits beautifully. My street size is 9N, but the 9M slipper fit perfectly.

The lining on these is so much softer than any ballet slippers I've owned so far. They allow you to point easily and comfortably. The color isn't as bad as some of the comments say. They definitely aren't bright pink, but they look like Capezio's other "Rose Quartz" shoes do, and definitely like the picture shows. I would have called them nude or something, but the color doesn't make you want to vomit! Great Buy! There wasn't much elastic included though, I had to buy more.

Definitely better than Capezio's other leather flats, but they are an ugly color. And, if you sweat a lot, they get ugly dark stains where they rub on the ground around the toes... I had someone ask me if I was bleeding when they saw my shoes.

Larissa07/24/2006 New England,
Definitely the most comfortable ballet flat I've ever put on--hands down. They form to your metatarsals nicely and make your foot look very good.
The reason I gave it only four stars is because these shoes are the most horrendous colour I've ever seen on a ballet flat. They call it pink rose, but it's really some kind of awful orange-tan-brown-ish thing. They look especially bad after they've been worn for a while and dirtied.
So, if you don't mind the colour, and you want something comfortable, these shoes are a good choice. Otherwise, get a nice classic pink canvas shoe.
I usually prefer canvas, but I'm sold on this shoe! It is so comfortable and just molds to your foot so well - and the inside is so soft! And talk about attractive! A great buy! Makes you wanna do class all day just to wear 'em :) The sizing chart was right too - I wear a 7 and the size 7 fit.

D S07/04/2006 Philadelphia, Pa,YOU WILL NEVER WEAR CANVAS AGAIN!
I love these slippers! I have always worn canvas and now I am sold for life! They make your feet look beautiful and you do not have to sew any elastic! They mold to your foot so you do not need it! Leather is super soft- gorgeous leather and the price is worth it! Beautiful shoe and perfect fit- same as street size is accurate.

They have a nice fit and look good, but dirt really sticks to them and they wear out really fast.

leelee 09/13/2013 Ca how good are they on turning?
do they stick to the floor or make noise when doing a pirouette? i really like shoes that slide is leather bad for that?
This shoes has a suede bottom. - DDS Customer Service (09/13/2013)
I think it depends on the floor. I dance on marley, and these shoes hardly stick at all! - Missgrenko (04/13/2014)
It depends on what floor. On some types of wood they are incredibly slick. On other woods they are very sticky. They are fairly quiet when turning on marley, and are slick enough to turn but not to fall down. - Dancerco14 (06/18/2014)
They are fantastic for pose/pique pirouettes, chaines, and pirouettes. - Love2dancelive2dance (08/29/2014)
My daughter really likes the leather Capezio, Juliet ballet shoe. She says that it slides nicely on the floor and is nice for pirouettes. - Jazzdancermom (10/09/2014)
ballet 10/18/2012 Cape May Ct, Ocean Township, Nj 08758, Usa Age: 35 to 44 Do these now come with a crisscross strap?
My daughter's last pair came with a criss cross stap attached to heel. But this states that it only comes with one strap. Confused.
?3/8" elastics pre-attached at the heel - DDS Customer Service (10/19/2012)
I thought the same thing and bought elastics, but I didn't have to use them. They come with two elastics per shoe, attached at the heel. - Balletlibrarian (11/20/2012)
Yes, the Juliets have crisscross straps. You'll have to sew the ends of the elastics to fit your daughter. - Thephantomizzy (01/18/2013)
Yes, they have the fully attached criss-cross straps. - Missgrenko (04/13/2014)
They come with two pieces of elastic per shoe, but only attached to the end near the heel. They do end up crisscrossed, but you have to sew the end that goes near the arch. Hope this helps. - Dancerco14 (06/18/2014)
All of the Capezio, Juliet shoes we have received have come with criss-cross elastic straps. - Jazzdancermom (10/09/2014)
