10/21/2024I highly recommend this shoe for college students. Good price and very long lasting. It's a bit bulky, not going to lie, but the elastics and drawstring help to fit it best to your foot and it will mold to your feet over time. I can have a pair last me about six months, which can include three hours of ballet and 4+ hours of social dancing per week.

I am a size ten in shoes for reference, though I would recommend going up half a size for other people that are size ten!

12/05/2020Save yourself the time and money. These are hands down the worst ballet flats I have ever used in my 15 years of dancing. I purchased these because Capezio Hanamis were sold out in my size and my pair began to fall apart. I wish I would've fixed them up and waited rather than wasting my money on these. Stitching in the leather sole came apart 15 minutes into my ballet class. I can not return them since the USPS lost that one pair in the mail and it said it was delivered. Gonna throw them out. Hoping someone takes this review into consideration and not waste their time.

Helena,ALI bought these for the new dance year. I really don't know what to think of them. Within the first month, they felt fine. After a month, they went berserk on me. They immediately felt too small, my toes touched the ends and were about to rip through. This had never happened before with these shoes. Also, every time I stand on releve, thy parts of the soles on the inside always pinch the bottoms of my feet. I have to stand on releve a lot in my ballet class,so these won't do. I'm not sure what to think of them.

03/10/2020Sansha Pro canvas ballet slippers are my "go-to" footwear for all my dance classes. They fit me comfortably, the canvas is very breathable, the split soles allow for maximum foot movement and an excellent arch, and the slippers are quite durable considering the punishment I routinely put them through. No ballet slippers last forever, but these Sanshas hold up pretty well, I think. They're also great for gym wear because unlike athletic shoes, my Sansha slippers enable me to fully flex and exercise my feet during workouts while still providing some protection and padding for them. So, I highly recommended Sansha Pro canvas ballet slippers for beginning and advanced ballet students as well as for athletes who wish to thoroughly exercise their feet during workout sessions.

New York,NYI used to wear Sansha's though a different style than this, that lasted for years. This pair however started falling apart within 30 days with 2x a week dancing. The leather split apart from the canvas and then the insole starting scrunching up. Really disappointing! As I otherwise love how this shoe fits and looks on my foot.

03/17/2019These shoes are amazing! I have very flexible feet and high arches and i find it hard to find shoes that make my feet look good. These shoes not only make my feet look good but they make my feet work harder and strengthen them because of the stiffer sole. There is not any extra fabric at the end of the shoe which I usually find. They also last longer than the capezio flats i was wearing before.

10/28/2018I have high arches, and I need a shoe that makes them look good. But these do not. The soles are way to stiff, no matter how much I bend them, they will not loosen up, and because of the that they don't really shape to my foot when point. The canvas itself looks baggy when I point too. Overall I do not recommend this to anyone.

St.cloud,MNThese slippers are really comfortable and work for those who have the Greek foot type. Why I only gave it a four star because every time I have ordered a pair the stitching underneath the arch comes loose . They last me about 3 months and that is with me dancing full time. So if you are looking for a comfortable flattering soft slipper I would recommend this.

06/18/2017I have been wearing these slippers for almost 15 years and have always loved them. The split sole and inside seaming makes them very flexible and responsive to my feet. The design also flatters your foot since the leather seams on the sole are inside the slipper. I usually buy a size smaller from the Sansha sizing chart to get these to fit snugly and not slide around.
My only complaint is that after so many years, they seem to be lacking in quality and durability. Every pair I've bought in the last couple of years has started coming apart at the sole within a week or two. I can still dance on them, but I like to know my shoes aren't going to fall apart one day in class. The elastics also seem to be lower quality, and wear out faster than the shoes. I still continue to buy them because they are the best ballet slipper I've worn, but if you're dancing every day you may have trouble with the durability. For a retired dancer who takes class once or twice a week, they're working out.

Sunnyvale,CAI really liked these shoes, at first. They are canvas, breathable, and could be washed.
The type of glue used, seems to be different, and they do not smell as bad (but could be washed also), so I thought I found my perfect shoes.
However, the seam at the part of the foot just bellow the toes, is thick. I mean really thick and hard. It started to hurt my foot at releves. Then my foot started to hurt even without the shoes! I developed a callus right there at the same spot where the seam hits me on releve.
So I do not think these are great shoes anymore.

Tallahassee,FLI've been wearing Sansha Pro Canvas ballet shoes for the better part of 15 years and I can't say enough about them. They are comfortable once they are worn in, will fit your foot perfectly, are the perfect shade of ballet pink without being TOO pink, blend in well with any "ballet pink" tights, are great for turning, support the arch of your foot and are so durable. Best part is if you get them dirty, you can toss them in the wash and boom - ready to go. I can't tell you how many pairs of these shoes I have gone through in the last decade. They are the best! I recommend them to all of my dancers.

Fresno,CAI wear a size 9.5-10 in street shoes, so I bought the size 11. They were too small for me BUT were a pretty good fit for my daughter who wears an 8.5-9 (although she says they're a little too big she doesn't mind wearing them). I like the shoe aesthetically, though, so I am ordering a larger size for myself in tan and black. Another girl from our class tried on my original pair and said that they're really comfortable, so she is ordering a pair as well.

Milwaukee,WII wore these for several months at least once a week, before I bought a different brand that was more comfortable.
I returned the shoes once to get the right size - a 12. I wear 9.5-10 in street shoes. I know I had the right size because they were long enough, but the ball of foot area was baggy. I have long, narrow feet. The leather pad under the ball of foot was in a weird position, not under my ball of foot, but closer toward the arch and heel than I wanted. It created kind of a bump under my ball of foot where the fabric was bunched up. That made it hard to balance in releve comfortably.
So, if they fit your foot, they're great, comfortable shoes, but I think my foot is just the wrong shape for these! I ended up with Capezio stretch canvas shoes also in size 12.

03/21/2016These are my first canvas shoes. Previously I wore leather. These are flexible, breathable, and softer than leather.
I am a women's size 9-10 in street shoes, slightly narrow feet. I chose a 12M here. They are long enough, and roomy but not baggy in the toe box (allows toes to spread out.)
However! They have a weird lump where the fabric connects to the leather sole under the ball of the foot. It is annoying on releve. It is not so annoying that I won't wear the shoes, but I really hope it flattens with use! I have worn them for two 75-minute ballet classes.

03/16/2016These shoes were the first canvas ballet shoes I've worn, and I'd say they're pretty good. There is extra fabric that bunches up under the toes when you point your foot, and they're a little stiff wearing the fist time, but what shoes aren't? I like how the elastics come already sewn on because it saves time having to sew them, but if that bothers you it's an easy fix. My street shoe size is a 6/6.5 and I ordered a 6.5M, and they fit good with just a little extra heel, which I don't mind. For the price I think it's a really good shoe.

02/11/2016I am extremely picky when it comes to my ballet shoes. They must be canvas, nude, ready to wear, and comfortable. These slippers had it all! I liked that the soles of the shoes blended well with the canvas so that, especially in relevé, the shoes feel natural.

01/15/2016I bought these last minute because I went back to school and forgot my old pair at home. They came quickly and are your typical ballet shoes: they fit well, and could be sewn or tied to fit your feet. I prefer bloch though. I am not a fan of draw strings, they hug my feet better, and are only $4 more. I also prefer the wear moi. However, both of these I had fitted before I bought them. 01/10/2016I have had two pairs of these shoes so far, and I can say that they are comfortable but not very flattering. I have moderate arches and when you point your feet they bunch up and its hard to see a nice line. They also get dirty very easily. Overall, if you are looking for a very flattering shoe, try something else. Also the elastics do not come presewn all the way (just in the back).

12/28/2015In the description of these shoes, it says, bolded and underlined, that the criss cross straps come sewn for you. This was not the case. My shoes came with the straps sewn in the back and hanging. The other ends of the straps were not sewn and were free hanging. I'm going to have to sew the shoe myself, which is a downer because it won't look as nice as if it came like it said it would. Other than that, the shoe fits a little tight, but not unbearable. I'm a street size 8 and ordered an 8.

09/18/2015I bought my first pair of Sansha canvas Pro shoes recently, and just purchased two more pairs. I love these shoes. My feet are wide, muscular, high-arched and toes are well proportioned. Sometimes I find shoes to be too narrow in the box area and too wide in the heel. These shoes fit every part of my foot! And the best thing is, they are actually incredibly supportive for a canvas ballet shoe. Comfort!! I like the way they work with my feet through all we do in class, from barre work to complicated turn combinations and jumps, in that sometimes shoes are so ill-fitting that you are constantly aware of them. Not these! I will highly recommend this shoe, and I am so excited to have finally found one upon which I can depend.

06/21/2015My uniform shoe and long-time friend. This shoe does run a bit small; I wear a 7.5 in street shoes and the 8 is getting to be to short on me, but overall it doesn't bother me during class. I recommend going a half-size up from waht you think you need in order to allow your toes to spread out on the floor. The pink is also a little more white than ballet pink, but it isn't a problem because they match most ballet tights very well. I usually remove the elastic and sew it once across the arch instead of criss cross. As far as wear and tear goes, these will hold their own for a very long time, but get very ugly. I can still dance in the first pair I got about a year a go (I have 3) but I have a multitude of holes in the toe area, and the sole is completely blackened. If you have a week of rehearsals before a show in these, I recommend waiting to break them in until the last day, because they get dark very quickly. I also recommend scuffing up the sole every once in a while to keep it soft and grippy. They are very comfortable, soft and there is a little foam in the heel that absorbs shock from jumps well. Totally a must have!

04/03/2015These are the first pair of canvas shoes that I bought. I like them a lot. I think they make my feet look nice, and the pink color matches most of my tights very well. The only con is that I only wear them for one class a week (the rest of my classes are pointe) for an hour and a half, and I got these in September. It's now April, and the seams at the bottom are starting to break apart and the soles are starting to come off. This concerns me a little, because my other pair of soft shoes have lasted 5 years and are just now starting to break. However, these shoes are so inexpensive that it's okay that they're breaking. I recommend them to anyone who likes canvas shoes.

03/05/2015I love these canvas shoes and have been wearing them my whole professional career. I recommend ordering a size smaller than what is suggested in the fitting guide. My street shoe size is a women's 9, and I wear a size 9N in the Sanshas. I can also comfortably wear a size 8M or 8W. I tried their recommended size (10) once, and they were incredibly baggy and ill-fitting.

12/13/2014I tried these slippers and they are really just okay. The sizing is EXTREMELY off. I wear a size 9 street shoe and had to get a size 11 of these. After that, they fit me length-wise, but the rest of the shoe was extremely baggy (And I have a normal width foot). The color is also just okay, but I prefer a darker pink that doesn't get dirty as easily. They also didn't last me very long before I started getting holes in the toes. But the thing that bugged me the most was that it made my feet look terrible! :( it made it look like I was barely pointing my feet! But, the shoes were comfortable and easy to dance in. However, in my opinion, Copezio and Grishko have better slippers.

11/08/2014Overall, this shoe is okay. Having it for only three months, I already have large holes beneath my big toe in both shoes. These shoe are very wide and tend to dig in my heels after wearing them for only half an hour. The canvas is very rough, thin, and gets dirty much too easily for my liking. They are mostly comfortable but hard to balance in because of the narrow sole. Although the color is gorgeous, there were too many wrong things with them. I am quite dissapointed. : (

10/17/2014We have 3 children who are ballet dancers....every time one of our children want to explore a different ballet slipper than Sansha #1 Pro they will try the new brand for a while, then complain about how poorly the shoe is constructed and does not last, and eventually they do not like the fit. We have tried several styles of Bloch...these shoes just fell apart, Fuzi...terrible... cheaply made and the quality control is awful. Wear Moi, the grey color is well made but we have had quality control problems and sizing issues along with construction problems with both the black and white shoes. Go figure. We just bought several pairs of Sansha again in 3 different sizes, they last, are consistent in quality control and construction. We love Sansha! Finally all 3 are on the same page regarding ballet slippers!!

09/19/2014I got these wanting to try a new brand. Other teachers at my studio wear these and love them, but I am still on the fence.
I ordered them 2 sizes larger than my street shoe size, and they are still a little small. Ordered an 11, needed a 12 or even 13.
They are also made of two layers of very thick fabric. I couldn't feel the floor at all. There is a liner on the inside which probably makes them more durable, but I cut it out along with a lot of excess, unneeded fabric, and they felt SO much better, but still too tight.
I also tie my elastics and wrap them around my foot; The elastic is attached at the heel, but is so short that I could feel circulation being cut off in my foot. They left visible marks on my foot that I could still see the next morning.
Overall, I think these are good shoes, not great. I think I'll be going back to Capezios just because I have always used them and never had problems. I had the same pair for 10 years and danced in them till my toes busted through.
If you are going to get these, get them very big and get extra elastic if you tie them around your foot.

09/06/2014I have a tiny narrow foot, so I have trouble finding technique shoes that work well. I am also hard on canvas shoes, so I need something durable. I wear a ladies 5 in street shoes, and I wear a 4M in these Sansha pro's. For regular women's sizes, order 1 size up from street size for a tight professional fit (2sizes up for a loose fit). For men, order 3-4 sizes up. If you wear a ladies 5 or 6, order one size down. ( This is because in most US shoes, ladies 5 and 6 are the same as kids 3 and 4, respectively. In Sansha, there is no size overlap.) I work at a dance store and this is the fitting formula we use for this shoe. Also, this shoe is incredibly durable and unbeatable in the price department.

08/02/2014I bought these shoes at my local dance store, where I didn't have my usual Bloch pro-arch and elastosplit slippers to compare them to. They felt great in the store and I thought the bagginess would go away once the elastic were sewn, but when I tried them on right after wearing my Blochs, I noticed I couldn't "feel" my feet or the floor as well and they were still baggy no matter what, as I have a narrow foot. Also, the sole has a point that sticks into your arch when pointing your foot.

07/16/2014If you are paying upwards of 20$ for canvas shoes you need to switch to these. If you dance 48 hours a week like me you need a durable slipper! These are not only inexpensive, they are super durable. Also shows off my arch beautifully. Seriously a perfect slipper <3

07/03/2014I buy these for the girls in my dance group I teach at my church. The girls never like shoes being tight on their feet so I always error on the side of too big when ordering. The girls love the shoes and how comfortable and pretty they are. Plus these shoes hold up well for our purposes and are very affordable.

07/01/2014Just recently threw away my high school ballet shoes. I hadn't used them in college so they lasted so long! As I began teaching ballet and creative movement, the holes in the toes got bigger. I needed new canvas split soles. Unfortunately I threw my out before writing down the brand! These looked so similar and now that I have them on my feet - they feel AMAZING!
Sansha Adult Unisex #1 Pro Canvas Split-Sole Ballet Slipper ----- good choice!

06/17/2014I tried on these shoes at a local dance store and the color (nude/flesh) was simply awful! They were incredibly orange, and way too dark. I'm not super fair, but not very tan, and they looked ridiculous. The Bloch shoes (below) are a MUCH better color.

06/16/2014This shoe was kind of average for me. I wore these shoes until Ballet II and switched to Bloch Zeniths. The Sansha Pros are good for beginners or for people who prefer canvas. I wore my first pair for over a year, partially because I didn't know they were too small. When I was a beginner, I didn't go more than once a week or twice a week, so they lasted pretty long. The shoes didn't really flatter my feet and were kind of baggy looking. Plus, they had to be sewed, and I don't sew yet. Overall, I wouldn't go back to them. I would recommend this to beginners or for people who like canvas shoes better.

05/30/2014These shoes are really light in the ballet pink so unfortunately they get dirty very easily. If you are looking for shoes that are the same color as leather ballet shoes than these are not for you. The color doesn't bother me at all but some people are picky. They are very comfortable except for the fact that the heel feels awkward and hard. Other than that they do what they need to!

05/05/2014I wear a street size 7 or 7.5 and have a slightly wide, yet compressable metatarsal and tapered toes. I ordered these shoes in an 8N and 9N, and while the 9 was more comfortable, they were baggy and wrinkled in the toe area and did not conform to my foot well. I ordered black and grey and the grey is very light- practically white...I was hoping for a darker grey that might not show dirt as soon. Both are going back unfortunately.

04/12/2014I ordered a pair for my son, but they were too big, no point in sending back when it cost $8 to ship back then I have to pay $5 to ship the correct size I just saves them for when they do fit him.

04/03/2014I bought these because I thought they looked like they should fit like Capezio's Pro ballet slippers, but they are not the same at all. I found these shoes to be rather uncomfortable. The length is right but they feel baggy on my feet, even though my toes are pretty broad, and yet they pinch my heels. I bought the tan thinking I could use them as a back-up plan. Normally I dance barefoot in my company but I bought these in case my foot injury didn't heal and I needed shoes. The tan is nothing like skin color. I would actually call it "pumpkin". I washed them hoping some of the color would come out, but no luck. So I have orange ballet shoes.

03/20/2014The last time I ordered these I really liked them so since I am starting ballet again I decided to order a new pair (the others are no good anymore). I wear a size 6-6 1/2 so I ordered one up and got a size 7. It fits perfectly! My only complaint is that the first time I ordered these, I was provided with a cute carrying sash for my ballet slippers, this time I did not receive one and I was disappointed about that. But that is no big deal and does not affect the overall quality of the shoe. Enjoy! :)

03/07/2014I got my first pair of these in December 2013, after using various brands (I've always loved the canvas Bloch Elastosplits, a picture of which is enclosed below). I used these shoes pretty intensely as I was preparing for YAGP in early February... Probably upwards of 10 hours a week. However, I was pretty upset that they only lasted 8 weeks. I had to get a new pair right before YAGP because they were dirty and had considerably-sized holes in both toes! I bought a new pair anyway, because I knew my size. I didn't have time to fool around with trying more kinds of flats right before something so important. So I got the new pair around the first week of February, and they're still going strong. Hopefully this pair will last longer.
So that's durability, which wasn't good.. However, other aspects of the shoe are good. The color and price are good, as is the convenience of the elastic being partially sewed on (you have to do some by yourself though). They are comfy and economical, and helped me do my first clean quads in turn combos.
And then, I have some more criticism. They don't hug your arches extremely well (for reference, my feet aren't biscuits or bananas, they are in the middle, but I am very close to a floorpointe), which is an important factor to me. They actually make my releve look a bit lower, which is not good because my releve isn't the highest (it's not bad, but no svetlana zarakhova) and I need every millimeter I can get. But maybe it's just me.
In conclusion, these shoes deserve the 4/5 I gave them; a good solid B in my gradebook. They are cheap, pretty, comfy, convenient, and good for turning, but their durability and design lack. I will be going back to Elastosplits, and if those don't work out I'll come to these again. If I have one piece of advice, its this:
> DONT BUY THESE IF YOURE LOOKING FOR A DURABLE SHOE THAT ACCENTUATES MEDIUM ARCHES, GO FOR SOMETHING LIKE ELASTOSPLITS. HOWEVER IF YOUR ARCHES ARE HIGH AND YOU DONT CARE ABOUT DURABILITY THAT MUCH, BUY THEM!!! <

02/25/2014Wonderful shoe. They fit the foot nicely, are very flexible and look very pretty. You should know that the shoes run at least 2 sizes small. For example, my shoe size is -depending on the brand- 9 or 9.5. In Skechers I wear a 9, and I ordered sizes 11 and 12. They actually both fit, but 11 is really very snug around the foot, so I prefer the 12 which has a tiny bit more room. You can adjust the fit a little with the elastic that runs through the rim of the shoe, so I easily can wear the 11 with the inside elastic band tied a little loser, and the 12 with the inside elastic band a little tighter. By the way: I found it helpful to actually tie the little elastic band into a real knot, since a bowknot very quickly comes loose.
The bigger elastic bands that cross over the top of your foot are very comfortable, too, since the shoes come with only the back of these big elastic bands sewn on: you sew the two front-ends onto the shoe yourself and therefore adjust the perfect fit there. These are the nicest dance shoes I have had in a long time. And the price is of course very good. (My experience with dancing: I returned to ballet after many years of not dancing.)

02/02/2014I would love the shoes SO much more if it wasn't for the elastic strings inside the shoe. They will come undone and go inside the shoes, and it's impossible to get them back out. I was tying the elastics on a BRAND NEW pair when they slipped out of my fingers went inside the shoe. So I had to order another pair because I couldn't fix it. And it happened again a couple days ago during ballet class when I was dancing, they were only like . Complete waste of my money. It's SOO frustrating! I just wish I could get all the money back that has been wasted on these shoes ):

01/15/2014My foot is a little hard to fit. I have a wide forefoot and a narrow heel. Tapered toes with a slightly longer big toe compared to my second toe.
I have these shoes in ballet pink. 7M Sansha size, street size 6 1/2. I love them, but can't wear them at my new studio because of a required uniform of leather shoes. However, these are my go to master class shoes. I would prefer a cotton drawstring. When I wear these, they show my arch beautifully and really work my foot. Unfortunately, the drawstring had broken since about 6 months of wear and tear, and I now have a new pair for auditions, master classes, etc.
I highly recommend getting fitted in person, but if not, follow the size chart and order a few sizes, try each pair on and keep the one that fits you best, then send back the others. :)

01/14/2014This shoe is very comfortable. The sizing chart that was online was very helpful and you should order using their sizing guidelines. They are also somewhat adjustable because you can tie the string tighter and make the elastic bands however they fit you best.

12/11/2013I bought these for my daughter and she loves them. I bought a size to a size and a half up and M width, but they are too big and too wide. She wears a street size 5.5-6 and has somewhat wide feet, but doesn't need a size wide in shoes. She wears a 6N in these ballet slippers.

12/11/2013They definitely don't run true to size but they warn for that. I wear women's 12 and I needed a women's 14. Shipped fast and were easy to use and prepare for practice! I'd definitely recommend.

11/30/2013I get so many comments on the gray color. DDS didn't carry that color for a long time so I'd have to order them elsewhere. So glad they started carrying them! It's such a great look with black dance wear while having a color that doesn't look dirty but still lets you see the foot. A+

10/18/2013Although I am currently searching for a slipper that will fit my foot better, I have not found another canvas slipper that I like better than these. I have been wearing these for almost 20 years, and have never had any durability or quality issues. I've probably had almost 50 pairs and they are very reliably the same each time. They are also inexpensive, which I love since I go through so much dancewear. They are a thicker canvas slipper, which I like. No bells or whistles, just a good shoe. My only complaint is about the fit - I have long, tapered toes, and these shoes are very round at the toes, which have aggravated my bunions from time to time because they put pressure on my joint because of the fit. That is why I am searching for a better shoe.

10/12/2013I have had these ballet shoes for about 3 years now and I just noticed a hole in each toe a few weeks ago. Now keep in mind that I co-teach 3 ballet classes and have some of my own. I also have thrown these shoes in the wash multiple times because they would get super dirty and stinky. They were put through the dryer as well. I like my shoes to fit super snug so you can see my arch and my toes pointed, I wear a size 6-7 in street shoes and I believe I ordered a 6 in these ballet shoes but I don't remember-being it was 3 years ago that I bought them and there isn't a number marked on them about what size they are. Follow the instructions on how to fit them and you should be fine with sizing. I love how they can be thrown in the wash since they are canvas and you don't have to worry about them being too stuff when you first get them like you would with leather. I am ordering the Bloch pro-elastic ballet shoes now for more advanced classes but these shoes are perfect for any ballet class-even teaching! :) Most of the girls at my studio have these and they love them! I would reccomend these to anyone! And with such a low price, you can't go wrong!

10/08/2013I wore these shoes for about two years because I didn't know any other types of canvas shoe. I thought they were pretty good shoes until I got a pair of the Grishko Performance Series shoes. Comparatively to the Grishkos, the bottom of the Sansha shoes are bulky and make turns difficult. After wearing them for about a month, the fabric gets very dirty and the toes blow out. These are "okay" shoes, but I find the Grishkos to be much higher quality.

09/14/2013I love this shoe! This was not my first shoe but I think it would be good for that too. It is very convertible and durable. It does not stretch very much but for $13 you can't go wrong. I overall love this she and I will be repurchasing it. :)

09/13/2013These were my first ballet shoes, and I was very unsure of why they were comfortable and uncomfortable. I wear a 11 in mens' and got a size 15 which should have been more than enough. After a while I thought I should just break into them, but then I tried doing other things like pointing and it was just bulky and uncomfortable. It's tight on my toe when I stand, but loose when it's in the air. Isn't that weird? I could not pull my toe up all the way, nor let it flatten out. It felt like the soles were offset too. I think that this shoe would have been better off as mens' and womens' instead of unisex, it just seems like the sizes is that terrible. They feel strong, but get in the way like you'd trip over yourself.

08/30/2013These are just perfect. Comfortable and look great on my feet. But warning!! Do not machine dry! Mine shrunk lol.
They may run a bit large. I'm a 6 1/2 and I purchased a 6W (I must have looked at the chart wrong or something.) They were a little tight, like I may have preferred a size up, but were perfectly use-able. I returned to purchase them again and see my recommended size is actually an 8. I would probably go with a 7 based off the fit of the 6.

07/09/2013this was my first pair of canvas shoes, so I may not be credible to talk about style, but i found these to be a little harder to break in for comfort than the leather ones. they run a little larger so order a size or two smaller. I think if you can get them as true to your size as possible, you can have an easier time with the fabric.

07/06/2013These are a classic ballet shoe. They are durable and inexpensive compared to many other shoes. I have worn these for years and I can't say they are my favorite but they get the job done. Definitely great for class but not so much for performances because, even if they are the correct size, they don't fit to your arch very well and can bunch up in awkward places. I use them for class because they are an amazing value for the price and are incredibly durable but for rehearsals and performances I suggest a shoe that conforms more to your foot (Bloch Pro Elastic work well for me.)

06/28/2013Was unsure exactly what to look for in a shoe. I went for look and comfort. I actually am wearing them for a wedding. I dislike wearing any shoes at all and figured ballet shoes would be a good compromise. They fit quite well. Adjustable strings and elastic make it quite nice. The canvas feels secure when I walk in them. The leather split souls are not bulky when I walk and seems quite comfortable. I am very happy with my purchase. Thank you Discountdance.com.

05/04/2013I love these shoes. The canvas makes them extremely comfortable! But they do run a bit big. I'm a 7.5 womens and I ordered a Sansha 9. They bunched up at the heel when I point my foot and when standing flat they go up to the middle of my achilles. However I do really like then, just order a size smaller than the chart says!!!

05/04/2013I have been in ballet for a number of years and this is my first time getting these shoes. The shoe has a very durable sole so that you can wear them longer, but it is harder to point and full stretch my foot at first. Once you get over that, its a good shoe.

03/10/2013I always get them and have had several pairs now. BUT they do not last a long time, they are canvas and the weave is larger than other canvas shoes =more comfort, less time. I wear size 7.5/8 womens and buy 8N. The only thing about getting narrow is the elastics are not very long. They just fit across my foot with barely any excess, which means you can't quick tie the ends or even sew them together... which does discourage laziness on my part; but I'm afraid its all the fashion nowadays. Sometimes they have small lumps in the soles, but hey, we wear pointe shoes and are they comfy all the time?? Also some of my friends have had problems with the bottom stitching separating from the sole... I haven't though. They are not worth the $34 you pay in the stores but for $12, heck ya!

01/19/2013Worst shoe I have ever worn. I would NEVER recommend this slipper. It fell apart after 3 classes. It was extremely baggy in the arch, wide and baggy in the heel. The pleats were so painful under the balls of my feet i could barely stand in demi-pointe. The leather sole was one piece through the shoe, and poorly sewn. When I would point my foot the point of the leather would poke into my arch. Also the cotton insole insert curled up under my toes the first time I put them on... Regardless I always rip those out anyways.. After those shoes I from now on always travel to the nearest dance store and try on my slippers before I purchase them.

01/10/2013This is a really comfortable shoe, but it runs really small. The first time I ordered this show I ordered it like it said on the chart, I'm size 8.5, it was so small I ended up having to buy the shoe in the sansha size 13 just so my toes could have a little bit of space to move. I think ordering the shoe 3 sizes up is good fitting.

01/01/2013I've had these shoes twice, and the first time I absolutely loved them. But now I'm starting to realize that they don't make my feet look very good. I'm blaming it on the sizing, that I accidentally ordered big. They bunch in the arch and the toe, and the pleating makes it hard to turn. But if you just need cheap shoes, go for it.

12/11/2012I bought 2 pair of size 6 for both of my daughters, which is what they have worn in other canvas ballet slippers of this same brand -- the shoes are so HUGE that I have to return them. When I held them up to their other size 6 Sansha slippers, they are more than an inch longer! Never had this problem before. Also, the pink canvas is much darker than the other canvas shoes we have, its like a dusty rose. Very strange. We order from DDS all the time, and are usually very happy with the products... but this one is definitely going back. :(

10/21/2012I've been wearing Sansha #1 Pro canvas split sole ballet slippers for quite a while now and I really love them! After trying several different brands and styles of ballet slippers, I landed on Sansha Pros as my perfect all-around slippers for both dance and exercise. These slippers run small -- I wear a size 10 medium men's street shoe, and after some experimentation I determined I wear a size 14 medium in Sanshas. Once I found my ideal size, I was very happy with the comfort and fit -- so much so that I removed the elastics from my slippers because I felt I just didn't need them. My Sanshas make my feet look their best, too -- the cut is very attractive and they hug my arches nicely, allowing for a very pleasing toe point / tendu. I love my Sanshas so much, in fact, that I wear them as house slippers also. I found that for canvas slippers, they're pretty durable -- I wore the same pair of black canvas Sanshas around home each evening and weekend this summer, both indoors and out, and it took all summer before one of my slippers developed a small hole in the pleats. The price is quite reasonable, too, especially considering the many performance benefits of these slippers. I highly recommend Sansha #1 Pros to anyone looking for some well-made, affordable ballet / exercise slippers or even for some lightweight, breathable and comfortable house slippers. You won't be disappointed! :-)

09/20/2012These shoes are comfortable and durable. I use my flesh colored ones in modern classes when the floor isn't right for dancing barefoot. I find the sizing guidelines off. I wear a 6 1/2 or 7 street shoe and have a wide foot. As a former professional ballet dancer, I wear ballet slippers snug. The suggested size 8 was far too big. A 7 medium ended up being the best size for me.

(which I hate) but I wear these for my other class and love them! They are reakky comfy and last pretty long

08/07/2012I have had my fair share of different soft slippers. I used these last month. (I have to buy a new pair of slippers every month due to my 15 hours of ballet a week, 13 of them on flat). I found them very uncomfortable. They bunched up right under my toes were the leather sole ends. When they were sweaty the were very itchy. They also looked horrible on me. My feet looked ugly when I pointed my foot. They leather sole was very very stiff, and was hard to get soft .

07/29/2012I love these shoes, they always last me for quite some time. I get them every time and its so easy to dance in them because of the split-soul. I totally recommend them(:

07/20/2012These shoes not only run large but they also make it very difficult to point half of your foot. The leather on the ball of the foot is not pliable enough. I just switched to these from Merlets and I am definitely switching back. These shoes are very frustrating in class and look very unflattering on nearly everyone I have seen wearing them.

07/07/2012Ive gotten my 4th pair today! They were two sizes too small based on my street shoe size, but once I was fitted at a dance store they fit my foot perfectly. My dance teacher noticed right away how nice my pointe looked in the shoes the first time I wore them, and she had no idea that the shoes were the cause of my improvement! Great price! Worth a try!

06/11/2012I bought these as my first pair of ballet slippers (I usually dance barefoot). After reading the previous reviews, I ordered a size up from my street shoe size (street shoes:6 slippers:7) and ordered a medium M instead of my usual wide W. The shoes fit perfectly! If you are new to ballet slippers, these are definitely the way to go: comfortable and affordable.

06/04/2012I'm pretty rough on shoes and always break through at the big toe pretty quickly. My poor dear mother is buying me my 4th (and more) pairs now so I can go to SI. These are the most comfortable I have tried, and they fit great on big man feet! Also very easy to dye for shows. Also, these cost a few dollars less here than at the local shop, where they always have to special order them, so we don't really get them any faster.

04/09/2012I have very flat, wide feet, and these shoes make my feet look great! They look beautiful when pointed and narrow when im standing normally. I wear a size 8.5 to 9 in street shoes and I ordered a 10M and they fit great :) Just tight enough to stretch and form to my feet, but not baggy at all. My only problem is that the elastics are only attached to the heel, and too far back for my feet, but I suppose thats just a problem with my feet. Overall I am very pleased!

04/08/2012These shoes are very durable, I have had them for almost the whole school year and I know they will last me at least the summer. When I first got them, they definitely were not comfortable, but when you break them in they're fine. The insoles, though, are my only real complaint. They seem to be hastily glued in. Every time I wore them with bare feet, the tips of the insole scrunched in my toes every time I pointed my foot. You can't tear the insole out, either, like you can with other ballet slippers, because there's nothing under it. I started wearing full footed tights so that I could point my foot without that problem. Overall though, pretty good.

04/03/2012So ive been dancing for 12 years and ordered my first pair of shoes online blindly! We got an email stating we need white ballet shoes by the following week to be dyed for costumes. so i went on here was scared about this!!! so i went a half size bigger and did a medium because i have a wide toe narrow heel. they came to today and let me just say im not ordering 20 dollar shoes any longer. they fit right with just a pinch of fabric at the toe and no gaping at the sides!

03/04/2012I really like this style and brand, but the sizing guide is WAY off. I ordered what the guide recommended, and they literally fell off my foot and had about 1/3 of an inch excess material in the back. I wear wide in point shoes, and ordered medium in these. They were too wide also. Ballet shoes should be snug like socks if you are training rigorously. Our feet deserve good support! Also the flesh color is pretty dark, but I will be exchanging for the same color only a size or two smaller.

01/26/2012I have feet with very sensetive toes that makes it very hard for me to find a good fit in ballet shoes. For years I kept buying and attempting to use pair after pair, brand after brand of shoes to wear to class with no sucess. Until recently, I was stuck wearing my near ancient Capezios that were no longer being made, because I couldn't find a decent pair of slippers to fit me!
I originally passed up on these shoes when I was fitted for them because they felt bad and went with a pair of Leo's instead. Two months later I was back in my Capezios with my feet in agony from the Leos. I went to get fitted again, and tried these shoes once more.
They were perfect! I found out then that I had been fitted with a too small pair the first time. My feet are a size 9, but I ended up getting a 10w. Fit my foot perfectly and for the first time in a long time, my toes weren't in a ton of pain! I've worn these shoes for several months now and they're still holding up well and are extremely comfortable. They turn well, are soft, and the pink color matches my tights well. I suggest dancers purchase a size up on these shoes as they run a bit small. However if you don't know what width to choose, i'd try to get them fitted in person.

01/23/2012These shoes are very comfy. The only bad thing is that the drawstring comes out of these shoes very easily. Also they tend to fade from pink to white after a few uses. Overall, though, these make my feet look great and I love them! Just go by the sizing guide and it will be fine. I get a lot of complements about these shoes. They are definately worth buying.

Los Angeles, Ca,These are great! I wore leather slippers forever and now I know what I've been missing. The flush sole is great and they wash easily with woolite on the gentle cycle, just make sure you stuff them with newspaper or dish towel or something, or they'll shrink. I'd refer to the size chart for sure.

11/13/2010Sansha Pro are the best brand of ballet shoes I have ever bought/worn. They are extremely comfortable, and they complement my arches. California,I love these, they are the best ballet shoes ever. I've been using them for five years, since I was eight and I've loved them ever since. I have flat feet and they make my "arches" look really good. they also look good when pointed in. They lasted me a whole year of dancing 4 hours a week, but now I've upped my dance time to 7 1/2 hours and I'll see how well they hold up. They last much longer than the Grishkos.

Ny,I just received my Sansha "Pro" #1 and I love them already. I read many of the reviews and took into account the complaints about the sizing issue. I decided to order only one size up from my street size and they fit perfectly. They are snug and that's what I wanted because I know they will stretch. I wear 9B street size and ordered a 10N. They fit great! I ordered white and they are very white which is fine, although, I know they'll probably get dirty fast but I can wash them. I love the way they make my feet look when I point which is a big deal because I have fallen arches and I haven't found a shoe yet that really helps that area until now. The reviews I read how great these shoes are live up to all they said as far as fit and look. We'll see how they wear which I think they'll be great also.

05/14/2010My street size is 7-8, so I got an 8. They where VERY tight on me. Getting a size bigger might be advisable. :)
Also, they didn't feel very protective regardless of size. When I was doing jumpy moves on my toes it felt like I was barefoot(not a good feeling!).

California,These are really cute and make my feet look beautiful. But I can't dance in them correctly as they are lumpy where the canvas meets leather on the sole. Right on the balance point. It is so painful to go up on releve!!!

02/24/2010I loved these shoes at first. The flush sole never catches on the floor, so that's a nice feeling. My issue is with the heel sole. The heel sole is really far forward on me heel and it feels really awkward and uncomfortable. I have only used them for 2 days so far, so maybe it's just something I will have to get used to. At first I thought I was imagining it, but the display picture has a funny sole too. Besides the sole issue, they seem to be great shoes. I am having issues with the elastic hurting the top of my foot, but my last pair of shoes were the Bloch pro-elastic.

New York,I have had these shoes before and love them. From my view, canvas slippers or split sole ballet shoes make my feet look more pointed. The only down side about these shoes are that they get dirty, rip, and hole very easily. And for some reason I turn better in canvas than leather. I hate leather slippers!

07/24/2009Amazing shoe. Very nice and easy to dance in! I wish they had half sizes tho! I'm usually a 6 1/2 or 7 in street shoes and the 8N was a little bit baggy. But maybe my feet will grow or I'll shrink it in the washing machine haha.

Massachusetts,The first couple of classes I wore these, they were slightly stiff and uncomfortable, and baggy. Under my toes, there is a lump and is kind of uncomfortable. They loosened up though and it turns out that all I had to do was tighten the drawstring...doi. Since it fits better now, the lump isn't as noticeable but I would still get maybe one half size down next time.

06/10/2009A teacher at the professional company I dance at suggested I get these for class, and I was hesitant. Canvas shoes don't usually last very long on me, because my toes tear holes in the front. But these were inexpensive so I tried them. They were comfortable, flattering, and lasted quite a long time. Just be careful with sizing, because for me I had to use the fitting chart differently. I subtracted half a size from my normal street shoe size and followed the fitting instructions for that. Fabulous shoe! Buy and enjoy!

But back to Sansha, these are really nice shoes and they don't wear out easily. I go trough about two a year. The only reason why I go through two a year is because the stage where we perform our shows eats them up.

Michigan,I've used leather ballet shoes all of my life, and they were always super uncomfortable. I then tried these, and they're amazing. They make my point look great, and they don't make your feet all sweaty. The only downside is they get dirty, but you can just throw them in the washer and they come out perfectly. However, DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE DRYER! They'll shrink. Just let them air dry, and they're good as new.

I have one small complaint and it's that there is the slightest amount of excess fabric but that is probably just my feet. Arizona,I went to a drama camp where I would dance for about 3 hours a day 5 days a week. My friend gave me a pair of Bloch leather split-sole jazz shoes in the beginning because they were too small for her. I got these shoes for performance only, so I wore the jazz shoes for two weeks. During tech week we were required to wear our performance shoes, and I did not like these at all. They ran a bit small once I tied them, the inside pad bunched up underneath my toes with one day's use so it hurt to jump and land, and the cloth had holes on the outside after two days. I ended up switching back to my practice intended jazz shoes. I DO NOT recommend these.

New Jersey,Terrible shoes - I'll never buy from Sansha again. The top of the shoes are way too small, even though I bought them in a "M" width - and my feet are in between narrow and wide. New York,The nice thing about these, are that you get a pointe shoe keyring and a little Sansha mesh bag to keep the slippers in. Now for the not so great: the canvas is really not durable and looks not that great. These are for people with long toes, probably high arch with narrow foot and not tapered toes. Basically, everything my feet are not. While they fit OK width wise there was so much baggy fabric on my toes because they are tapered (my feet). Plus, I didn't like how minuscule the sole on the ball and heel were. Not enough for my wide feet. Looked awful. If you have wide metatarsal area I like Grishko much better.

Fairhope, Al,While these shoes have their pros and cons, I would have to say the pros outweigh the cons more than any other shoe I've tried. I love how the sole is "flush" making these shoes sinfully comfortable and the design is flattering on every foot (most of my ballet friends have worn these too). While I will admit that they wear down quickly, I don't mind since they are inexpensive and have allowed me to feel the floor more than I have ever seen. As far as the dirty appearance, just wash them in the laundry. I do it all the time and they look good as new. And they are better than all the bloch shoes I have tried, which fit like I should have the foot of an elephant and make a lump of my arch.

Willimantic, Ct,Probably the most comfortable ballet shoe I've ever had. They make even the most awkward feet look beautiful and the canvas lets your foot breathe much better than leather. However, I go through two/three pairs a year because they wear out (holes on toes and interior sole weakens)and get dirty so easily, which I find bizarre since I only use them five or so hours a week. Which is nothing compared to other dancers I know.

Oklahoma,I have been wearing these shoes for a while and think they are OK. I have a higher arch and whenever I go up, the elastic inside the shoe digs in. New York,OK, is anyone here familiar with that painting of a dancer's feet in 5th position, and her shoes are falling apart and duct taped together? Yeah, my old shoes looked just like that. I used to wear full sole leather shoes, and the sole was constantly coming apart from the shoe. I tend to wear my shoes until they're dead, and then keep wearing them awhile longer. So I was holding my shoes together with tape for awhile. I've never had that problem with these. They last a long time for a canvas shoe. They're flexible and comfortable, are pretty flattering, and the fact that they come in wide width is a huge plus for me. Yeah, they get dirty pretty fast, but hey, at this price you can always get a pair for class/rehearsal and a pair for performances. I will definitely be buying these again and again.

01/17/2008These shoes are required for my dance company, and after dancing in single sole leather slippers for years, I was relieved when we HAD to get these. They do, however, run small and take a few weeks to get used to because they don't stretch very easily, but this could just be my giant awkward feet! They seemed to work fine for the other dancers.

Nebraska,I really do like these shoes but I wouldn't suggest buying them if you have tapered feet or a low instep. They bunch up so badly, they can even interfere with turn out. They almost feel like foot diapers. If you have perfect feet, go for it. If not, I would advise you to pick something different.

06/25/2007These shoes are great. I dance ballet about 8 hours a week, and these have lasted four months so far, and are perfect for competition and recital. No matter what floor you're on, the grip the shoe has on the floor seems to remain the same. They haven't worn out yet like other reviewers said. Maybe they use them more often than I do. They really mold to your feet and look flattering on any foot type. Besides, they're so cheap, it's not a big deal to buy new ones.

06/20/2007These run a little small, but as far as quality goes, these are amazing. They look great on and compliment any style of foot. They're easy to turn in but still provide friction and they really mold to your feet and end up feeling like a second skin. They get dirty easily but it's not that visible on stage, and I dance in them about eight hours a week and they don't wear out if you take care of them.

06/09/2007These are a very comfy and pretty shoe. Only problem is, they fell apart after 5 wearings. If you want a nice clean shoe for a performance, go for it, but don't expect these to last very long. All the posts about washing them are irrelevant, because they won't last long enough to wash. I'll probably try these in the leather, because the fit is very good.

05/29/2007These are very comfortable. I got them just before the recital and they helped my turns. Love them!

Ohio,I just switched to these after Grishko and Russian Pointe both raised the prices on their flats. They fit comfortably, show off the feet decently well (RP is still best) and the color is pretty while it lasts. I got the light/ballet pink and it matches well with tights. They do get dirty very very quickly, but I'm told they wash up well. I was about to get the deal with the two pointe shoe key rings and a free pair of tights - all for $12! You can't beat that value. And the free tights were comfortable and pretty too. I'd definitely buy these again, although admittedly I'd still be sticking with the Russian Pointe Andantes if they were cheaper and easier to come by.

Seattle, Wa,I have worn these shoes for years and years. They fit well, look nice and you can just throw them in the wash when you need. They do shrink a tiny bit when I do, but I just buy a half size up. I love them!!!

04/29/2007They are okay. They don't look particularly nice on my feet and aren't the most comfortable, but they are a good buy and stay relatively clean.

Miami, Fl,Buying these canvas slippers in white may not have been the best idea, but I don't regret it at all! They're unique and look very pretty on. If you are a size 7.5 street size like me, then definitely get an 8 - these slippers shrink in the washer. However, they are very comfortable and being my first pair of canvas slippers, (I've always stuck to leather) I was very pleased. I was skeptical about the arch, but it seems everyone else was right and they make your arch look beautiful. I recommend them, especially at this price.

Newton, Ma,My son, who's a dancer, swears by these shoes - they're great. However, I'm disturbed by a few of the comments made here about getting fitted at a shop and then ordering online. I'm not a shop owner of any kind and love to buy stuff online, but the dance shops I've visited all seem to be independent, often small, businesses. They are well aware that the merchandise can be obtained less expensively online, and work hard to provide the element that you can't get on the Internet - a professional fitting. If we rely on these shops for fittings but don't compensate them for their service by buying the shoes, we are hurting them and, eventually, will drive them out of business. And we need them, right? So at least support this needed small business by buying the pair that fits from the shop that helped you find them. If you want to buy additional pairs online to save money, fine (I know I've done that), but think about what you're doing. Hardly anyone ever got rich being either a dancer OR a dance shop owner, so why shouldn't these two groups, who both need each other, support each other?

Florida,These canvas shoes are very comfy. I wear them for class and they feel very light on your feet.

11/26/2006Amazing canvas, I am extremely impressed. There is even extra pleating around the big toe! It hugs my foot perfectly and that is what I look for with any canvas, that hug.

Salt Lake City, Ut,I have been wearing Sansha for 11 years now, and I am a forever fan. I will tell you that if you have very wide feet, to go get fitted at your nearest dance supply first and then order via mail. My feet have had injuries and I had to wear the Sansha Pro 1 leather. Your feet can change from year to year and so, you should get fitted on occasion. What I do is get fitted (I don't buy them at the shop) and then I order 2 pairs at a time to save money. 10/14/2006I love these shoes, they hug my high arches beautifully, breathe well, the seamless bottoms are fantastic and last long for being canvas. However, I always cut away the gathered fabric on the inside under the ball of the foot, which is otherwise painful.

09/27/2006These shoes are the best. They are ultra comfortable and really mold to your foot for a perfect, almost customized fit. After wearing these, I'm never going back to another type of shoe.

New York,When I first bought these slippers, it was a hard fit, but I love them. They also last a while. During dance class, they are really comfortable and I would recommend them to anyone.

Massachusetts,These shoes rock! I have had them for almost 2 years now, and they fit and perform really well. They have lasted through 3 classes a week for a year, Nutcracker performances and rehearsals, and Coppelia performances and rehearsals. I ordered a pair from here last Fall and then ordered another pair to be dyed for mouse shoes. Even after dyeing, they were still as comfortable as my non-dyed ones and the pink ones are just starting to wear out now.

Philadelphia,I had been using leather for 9 years, then I got these because i had seen some other people with canvas and they looked so comfortable. When I got them I was amazed how they were so comfortable!! Plus, they make your point look A LOT better! Out of all the canvas shoes I think these are the best. I highly recommend them!!

08/20/2006I hate these shoes! The pleat part of it was so bumpy they gave me metatarsal bursitis, and I was off for a LONG time. Don't get these if you don't want to be injured.

Chicago,I have worn Sanshas for about four years, and was somewhat happy with them. I definitely liked them more than leather, because your feet could breath and feel the floor easier. My main complaint about these is that the material gets very bunchy at the ball of the foot, which makes it not as easy to use the floor and articulate your feet/toes, due to so much extra material placed in that area. Because of that reason, I switched to Capezio Cobra canvas ballet shoes. So far, I have been much happier with those. Also with Sanshas, they tend to swallow your feet a little, which does not show off your arch, and can make your feet look a lot worse than they actually are. They also get holes in them quite quick, but overall I think they are a fairly good shoe (but I think it just depends on your likings).

06/30/2006Hate leather! Always did! So when I went to order a new pair of shoes, I went with these. Hasn't changed for over 6 years! Some people with very high arches might not like them and prefer leather, but I love them. I have fairy nice feet, and these show them to my advantage, by forming to them. They also last FOREVER, even when I'm working them like you wouldn't believe!

06/06/2006These shoes are very comfortable and easy to wash. The arch isn't completely form-fitting, but I have worn this shoe for a while and will continue to recommend it.

04/27/2006I love my Sansha Pro's! They don't wear out that quickly for me, but I have noticed that lumpiness when you pointe. I just cut the extra bits past the seam on the insoles. Besides that, I highly recommend these shoes!

Texas,These shoes wear out way too quickly. Also, they have lumps right on the balance point, which is really uncomfortable. I know these shoes are inexpensive, but for a few dollars more, you can get better, longer lasting shoes.
