My daughter to classes at the Oregon Ballet Theater over the summer (and will continue), and this leotard in the light blue is required for her class level (all pre-ballet, and first steps). I was concerned about the fit since other reviews said this leotard runs small. Since my daughter is tall for her height (she's 42" and 4 years old, usually wears a 6 in clothing for the height, though her waist is definitely a 4), I just plain wasn't sure. I took her to a local dance shop, and her size is the intermediate, 6x-7. This is reasonable compared to her street clothing size. As usual though, it's slightly baggy around her waist, like everything else that fits height-wise.
I suggest going one size up because the 6X-7 fits her size-6-for-height body just about perfectly, indicating that this leo is just a bit on the small side.
Purchased this leotard for both my daughters because was attracted to the sleekness of the princess seams, which is very elegant. But as others have said, these run extremely small. The straps cut into their shoulders leaving welts after their 1-hour class. Solution for us this time, cut and lengthen the straps. Next time, we'll try a different brand.
This is a very pretty leotard and the princess seams are very flattering. I bought this leotard for my daughter for class and we chose it because she has a similarly styled one by Capezio. We were very disappointed to find that the leotards run VERY small. According to the sizing charts, my daughter should be able to wear a large with room to spare. Instead, the leotard just fits. We've worn Mirella before, but this is the first leotard we have from them that doesn't match the sizing. Very disappointed that the fit is so poor.
