    HUMONGOUS!

In reading the reviews I saw that these run large but found it hard to believe! I am a women's size 8 street shoe and have a wide foot, I ordered these in a size 6c. They are ridiculously big. Maybe a size 4.5 will fit like a glove as ballet slippers are meant to but I'm not willing to chance it. The manufacturer of this shoe is way way off on sizing. Return!

Thank you for choosing Discount Dance for dance supply needs. We are currently reaching out to the vendor to see if we can get an updated size chart.

    SIZING IS LIKE ENGLISH SIZING.

All leather. True real suede sole. Available in widths. Muscular adult feet or wide metatarsals probably need a C width unless person needs a narrow in street shoes. I wash my ballet slippers in the machine about once every two months and air dry. I prefer the adjustable drawstring over other models that are simply an elasticized top edge. Tie the elastic strings in a double knot. Pull the strings to the end of the toe, but do not stretch. Clip the strings at the toe. Tuck in. For children, the knots can be untied later and the shoe stretched a bit after growth. Most children wear same as American street shoe or maybe a half size larger to allow for growth. Adults go down 1.5 sizes from American street. Many teen girls wear the C width unless foot is narrow. Wide widths like D would be for adult feet that are visibly wide, extremely muscular, or even flat-footed. As a teacher, I have only ordered one or two D widths for girls... ever in 40 years!

    SIZE CHANGED

My daughter loves these shoes but the last 2 years we have ordered the size is an issue. My daughters shoe size has not changed she just wore out her shoes! When I reordered the same shoe in the same size it was way to big. We started with a 4.5 and went all the way down to a 2.5.

It's been years since I danced ballet. Since I was interested in getting back into it, I was a bit hesitant on which shoe I should invest in. I'm glad I picked this style! I normally wear 8.5 in street size, so I took the advice from previous reviews and ordered 6C. They felt a bit big at first, but they were easy to break into and are fairly comfortable to dance in. I'm so happy to start dancing again!

    BASIC BALLET SHOE---AS EXPECTED!

I teach in a multipurpose room. They try, but the floor is not pristine. sigh... So I bought black ballet shoes for the first time since I was 5! And I knew I'd need leather for durability. But I didn't want anything cheap that would just frustrate me. These are perfect! All the features I needed for dealing with that sub-par floor without cutting corners for my feet!

    EXCELLENT BALLET SLIPPERS

Bloch Dansofts are among my favorite ballet slippers. Besides wearing my Dansofts in the studio, I also wear them to the gym and around the house, so I've given them a pretty thorough testing over a span of years. I've found them to be very comfortable and durable as well as exceptionally good-looking, and the quality of workmanship and materials that goes into them is excellent. The value for the money is great, too. These slippers do run a bit large, though, so when ordering, choose a half to full size smaller than your street shoe size. You won't regret ordering a pair (or more!) of these awesome slippers.

I wear a 7.5 in street shoes and so I sized down to a 5.5c but they were just too tight in the toe. I was going to exchange but I have a friend who they fit so happy birthday to her! I may buy another pair in a 6 in the future

    RUNS LARGE!

I couldn't tell if my old pair were a 3.5d or a 5.5d because the bottoms were so worn so i ordered how the instructions suggested: by ordering steer size. It turned out I needed a 3.5d rather than the 5.5d, which i didnt figure out until I got the 5.5d home and they were way too big! Returning them was fairly easy as well as the exchange process.

    BASIC, DURABLE, GOOD BALLET SHOE

I'v worn these shoes for a long time and I know I can always count on them. I wear a size 8 in street shoe and and the 6 in these is perfect. Because they are leather, these ballet shoes stay cleaner and generally look better than any canvas shoe. However, these are not great at articulating the arch of the foot, the material tends to bunch up. If you are looking for a class shoe to practice your arch with, I would go for the Elastosplit X from Bloch. But if you need a shoe for performance, stick with these!

    LOVE THIS SLIPPER

I bought this pair because we have the same in a child size and they are very durable and a great product for the price. My only complaint is that it is a bit hard to figure out the fit for a child. I bought a size 3.5 adult for my daughter who wears a size 2 kids after reading the sizing guidelines and other reviews. It was still about half a size too big. So I will order again to get a better fit. I think it may be just better to order the half size above what the street shoes are. I will order a 2.5 this time and try it.

    TROUBLE SIZING FOR KIDS SIZING

I could not figure out the sizing for my 8-year old girl that wears a street size 2 and has a narrow foot. I read reviews, sizing charts (both on the website and off), and contacted customer service. I went up 1.5 sizes to convert to ladies, and down 2 sizes for dance shoes. I thought the 2B would give a little to grow. It was way too small and wide. I am ordering a 4A. I wish there was a place to try on shoes first or at least a length measurement for online purchases.

    PERFECT!

I have been looking for a few years for a full-sole ballet shoe that fits my foot comfortably and without sliding on my foot. This shoe is perfect! It comes up to the top of my heel and doesn't slide at all. I am a women's 9.5. My foot isn't wide, but in shoes that have narrow toes I have to go up to a 10. I ordered the 7.0C and am very happy with it. I've only had them a week, so I can't speak to durability, but they feel like they're good quality.

    COMFORTABLE SHOES DEFINITELY KEEPING

I bought a pair of these ballet slippers and a pair of the Adult Leather Split-Sole Ballet Slippers (SD10), because I ordered them online and wasn't sure which pair would fit better. I ended up returning the SD10's and kept the Dansoft pair. The Dansoft pair was really comfortable, true to size and fit (I wear a street shoe 9M and ordered the Dansoft shoe in 6.5C#, and had a nice full heel cup #which I prefer, as I don't care for a shorter heel cup#. The fully sewn elastic strap was nice, not too tight or too loose, and timesaving of course. My last pair of Bloch shoes #not sure if they were Dansoft or not, as I bought them in 2007 and they are well worn) was a split-sole, but I wanted to work on my arch a bit more so I bought the Dansoft full-sole for that. I would recommend these shoes.

Im not a fan of leather shoes, but these seem like they will last a long time. Im a 6.5-7 Narrow but ordered a 4.5B, which fit perfectly but I shouldve gotten A. Note that the pink color is not the color in the box, more of a brown color, not matching satin ribbons.

    EXCELLENT QUALITY GREAT PRICE!

My six year old uses these every year and by the end they are still like new. We are able to pass them down to someone else to use again. Very comfortable. My daughter has a wide thick foot so we ordered a "D" width which fits great and we followed the sizing chart which was accurate for us. She wears a 2 in the junior (child 1-13.5)( junior 1-?) So we had to convert to adult according to the chart, anyway we followed the directions then ordered a .5 size bigger than recommended and its great she has enough room to grow through the year so we won't have to purchase another pair halfway through. Love them!!

    BASIC AND DURABLE

I got one pair of these years ago to work on my arch a bit more during classes. I've been looking for black street-shoes ballet flats at the mall, dsw, everywhere, but couldn't find any that were comfy! so I said, why not go for the real thing? so i recently ordered a pair in black...I put some insoles in, and they feel almost like normal street-shoes, but you can feel the ground more, which isn't a bad thing! =) For reference, I wear a 7M in most "dressier shoes" (like ballet flats or heels), and I get a 5.5 C in these.

    GREAT FIT

I got these for my 9 year old for her level 3 ballet class. She prefers the full sole to split sole and we are required to have leather ballet shoes. We ordered a size adult 2c. She normally wears a size 3 street shoe and these are a little big on her. Not so big that she can't dance in them, and they will probably fit her well by the end of the dance year (we just put a thin sock on and they fit fine). We usually buy secondhand, but these were such a good price I couldn't resist. She seems to like the Bloch brand the best.

    LOVE THESE!

I've done ballet and other forms of dance off and on growing up. I bought these for a beginning ballet for non-majors college class, and they've served me well. They lasted through a whole semester of three classes per week, and they look like they'll be good for another while. They're very comfortable and easy to move in, and if you go by the sizing recommendation listed, you should find that they're true to size. I wear a 6.5 wide in street shoes and ordered a 3.5C (very meticulously measuring both my feet beforehand to make doubly sure, as I wanted to avoid the hassle of exchanging for a different size later on), and they fit perfectly! I hadn't owned another pair of ballet shoes since I was about 9, so I can't compare these to any others because I honestly don't remember, but as a beginning-level dancer with only a meager amount of experience, I think these shoes are wonderful.

    FANTASTIC

I am a 4-5yr old assistant instructor and I just started Adult Ballet classes. I love the quality and the color of these slippers. I agree with the recommendation to order 2 1/2 sizes smaller than your street size shoe. Originally I ordered a size 6C (my street size is 8 and my foot is a little wide). They were a little too long. I exchanged them for a 5.5C and the fit is perfect! Slipper is beautiful and well made. I will purchase these again for sure. Very comfortable.

    AVERAGE BALLET SLIPPER

These are nice ballet slippers. They are average, but nice. As they are full sole, they won't look as nice on a low arch. If you have a really low arch like me, try a split sole shoe. I chose these because they were on sale at my local ballet shop. I also love that they only have one thin elastic, instead of two. If you are looking for Bloch pointe shoes, try Serenades. I bought them and these ballet slippers at the same time.

    WONDERFUL SHOE

This is my second pair of ballet slippers. I am a 6 1/2 street size and ordered a size 4 in these and they fit very tight at first, but after wearing them to a class they stretched a little and conformed to my foot. I don't have a very high arch and these shoes showed nicely what little I have.

    DURABLE!

My DD's dance studio recommends a different brand of shoe which were fine 3 years ago. Around 2 years ago they must have changed production in some way because the pink started peeling. I gave up on the recommended brand when I opened a brand new box of shoes to find the pink peeling off before they were even worn. We bought these instead and have been very pleased. These have minimal scarring despite her classes and rehearsals increasing by double. The other brand would scar within weeks, but hers just started showing (6 months of wear). The only reason I'm buying a new pair is because they're looking a little tight and I want the next size up on hand when she finally outgrows them. The full sole is stiff which is great for young dancers looking to build foot strength. No pre-pointe work just yet for my little one so these are perfect.

    BLOCH BALLET FLATS

These shoes do run big- I'm normally a size 8-8.5, and a size 7 is the perfect fit. Compared to the Amercian Ballet flats from Payless, these are ASTOUNDINGLY good quality for the price. Comfortable and perfect for beginners. They feel easily breakable though- avoid concrete/sidewalk because they'll rip!

    GOOD FIT

I usually wear Grishko Ultimate slippers but my teacher suggested a full sole to make me work through my pointe. I bought 2.5 sizes smaller than my street shoe size and probably could have gone down another half size or maybe to a narrower width, they gap a little when I releve.

I just got these so I can't comment on durability but the fit is perfect. I'm an 8 in a street shoe and my foot is a bit wider at the front. I remember being measured as a C width when I was kid so I took a chance and got the 5.5C. They're lovely.

    OKAY SHOES

These shoes are okay. They wear out too fast! I have had them for only four months now, and they already have holes on the toe! The leather also gets dirty very quickly. I need a split sole shoe next time, because my arch is too high for these! There is a giant white space in the middle of the arch in my shoe! I hope I can find a leather split sole shoe, because my school won't allow us to have canvas ballet shoes. Anyway, I would recommend these shoes to any dancer who dances a small amount of days a week. I only dance four days a week, yet I already need new shoes!

    GREAT!!!

I had this slipper for a year before the toe ripped. That is quite a long time, seeing as I dance 5 times a week. They're very, very comfortable. The color is nice.

I ordered two sizes of the shoe as I wasn't sure which would fit better. I'm normally a 6.5 wide or 7 medium in womens and I ordered both 4C and 4.5B. The 4C was comfortable but had a little extra room in the toes (not much, so if your feet are still growing it'd be good for you, but my feet aren't going to grow anymore) and the 4.5Bs are tighter on the width of my foot. I'm keeping the 4.5Bs as I don't want excess material on my toes. This is my first ballet slipper and I haven't started class yet so I can't speak to how it performs or compares to other shoes.

    AWESOME SHOES

This shoe is very nice. It molds to my feet perfectly and shows off my point. I very much enjoy this shoe because it makes me work for my point, instead of just handing it to me, which I enjoy! I am a student and will recommend this shoe to any dancer.

    GREAT SHOES AND VERY COMFY!

I have these shoes and I love them! They fit so perfect, and I have no blisters. They did constrict my point a little at first, but they were great after I broke them in. They're good for beginning and intermediate dancers.

How do you calculate the size for a child, exactly?

The instructions are a bit confusing. My daughter wears a 2.5 in girls. So if you add 2 sizes, that would be 4.5,then subtract 2.5-3, we would order size 2 in adult. Is this correct?

Yes, the recommended size would be a 2.0 in adult based on the manufacturer suggested sizing.

I think I ordered the wrong size. My daughter wears size 2 street shoeshas very narrow feet.

What size do I order? I got her a 4A in adult. How to I exchange?

For a size 2 street shoe you first convert to adult sizing which would be a size 4. Then follow the manufacturer suggested sizing of 2.5 sizes down. The smallest size this comes in is a size 2.

What are the A,B,C,D widths for?

I'm trying to buy these shoes for my 7 year old daughter who is a size 13 in kids.

The letters indicate the width. A is the most narrow and D is the widest, with C being an average width.

how to choose the width size

    how do I choose the width if it states A B C D E M N WW.

C is average width. If you do not typically need to wear a narrow or a wide shoe you would just choose C. If you have a narrow foot then A or B would be the best options. A wide foot would go with D or E.

My daughter wears adult 7 1/2 street shoe. What size do I get her for ballet?

Street shoe size 7.5 should order a 5.0
    - DDS Customer Service (09/05/2013)

It depends on the shoe and brand, but for these I would get a 5. If they are a little snug it's okay, they are meant to stretch to your foot. - Chase (12/31/2013)

Does she wear a true 7.5, or does she sometimes also fit a 7 or 8? I'm a 7.5 and I ordered a 5.5C but they were too tight in the toe. However, I also sometimes wear size 8's so I may be on the "large" size of a 7.5. - Faye (03/17/2015)

My girl is in child size 1.5B. She is about to grow out of this.

Child 1.5 is the largest child size offered. would the next size up be adult size 2 (the smallest adult size offered) ? that would seem to be too large based on your formula for conversion and various reviews. Please advise what is the next size up after child size 1.5. Thanks!

The adult size 2 would be the next size up. However, that adult 2 is equivalent to about a child's size 2.5. Unfortunately this shoe does not accommodate for the middle size 2.0.
    - DDS Customer Service (08/29/2013)

My daughter wears a street size 2 so we had to convert and it works out to a 1.5 or a 2 so we went with the adult 2 and they fit great just a thumb size at the end for her to grow through the year. - Chele21 (09/07/2013)

You wouldnt want to get these shoes for your child since they're sizes are about 3 sizes larger actually. Try another pair of shoes that is true to their size, and get a 2. - Chase (12/31/2013)

My daughter has the same problem, and 3.5 size was too big. I am ordering a 3.0 as I want a bit of room for her to grow. - Militarymommy (11/21/2014)

    Width/Sizing?

How can I determine what width I am (e.g. A,B,C) and what would be a size for womens 9 1/2 street shoe?

A= narrow B= Narrow Medium C= Medium, if you tend to just buy medium width shoes stay with the medium width, however fitting is a suggestion not a guarantee
    - DDS Customer Service (01/03/2013)

Personally I am a "wide width" in shoes so I ordered a "C' and they feel fine. In Tap shoes they did not have an option, only a B width and for me they feel a little snug on the sides. If you are a 9 1/2 street shoe then go with a size 7. The recommendation for 2 1/2 sizes smaller is right on. The full sole helps me point better and the leather looks and wears beautifully. My instructor has split sole canvas purchased some where else. She was told they would wash well and stay clean. That has not been the case for her. Hope this helps! - Sddancer (07/31/2013)

A= narrow feet B= normal C/D= wide For these you order about 3 sizes smaller. so try 6.5 - Chase (12/31/2013)

My street shoe size is a 9M and the Dansoft shoe I ordered in 6.5C fit nicely. Based on the size chart for this shoe, you might try a 7C, unless you have a wider or more narrow foot. - Erinm (02/04/2014)

What color are the elastic on the black Block "Dansolf" shoes?

The elastic is also black on the black slippers.
    - DDS Customer Service (10/09/2012)

They are a close match to the shoe. The leather is a little darker, but really it looks the same. The color of these slippers is a true ballet pink. A soft blend of tan/pink. They are very beautiful slippers. Fantastic quality, soft leather and look very expensive. I will purchase again. Make sure you go down the recommended 2 1/2 sizes from street size for a perfect fit. - Sddancer (07/25/2013)

I'm confused. You said 2.2 to 3 sizes smaller than street shoe size, but when the lady said her daug

Sorry for the confusion on the sizing. First you have to convert the child's shoe to adult size by increasing the shoe size by two and then follow the sizing suggestion of the shoe, since this is sized 2.5 to 3.0 sizes smaller than the street shoe. An adult size 5.0 should be either a 2.0 to 2.5 in this shoe. The sizing suggestions are not guarenteed. If you need further assistance please call customer service at 1-800-470-1664.

This may be because these ballet slippers are very flexible and comform to the foot, so buying a smaller size in ballet slipper can make it look better on the foot. - Lillypointeshoereview (02/18/2013)

My first purchase was 2 sizes smaller. I had to send them back for 2 1/2 sizes smaller than my street size shoe. The recommendation is 2 1/2 sizes smaller for Adults. If you go with the sizing recommendations you will get a perfect fit, in my opinion. Hope this helps! - Sddancer (07/25/2013)

    shoe sizing?

Looking at the Dansoft ballet slipper, my daughter is a size 3 in street shoes...what size should I order in ballet, jazz and tap shoes??? this gets very confusing!! thank you, Lana

All shoes will differ in sizing guidelines, however if your daughter is a street shoe size 3.0, please increase her shoe size by 2, this will be an Adult size 5.0 , then follow the sizing suggestion for each individual shoe. As for the Dansoft Style S0205L suggested fitting is 2 1/2 to 3 sizes smaller than street shoe. Suggestion would be either a 2.0 or 2.5 in this shoe, however sizing is not a guarentee.
    - DDS Customer Service (09/24/2012)

I agree! I ordered my exact street size tennis shoe, size 8 in Dance now Jazz shoes. they are a little snug on the sides ( I have a wide foot) but they do stretch and are very flexible. They hug your arch beautifully and look very expensive. I ordered Theatricals tap shoes with the slide, very pretty. I went up a half size because I felt a little pressure on the corner of my big toe nail. A size 8 1/2 fits perfectly. In ballet shoes I went for 6C which is the recommended 2 1/2 sizes smaller and C for a wide foot. They fit perfectly, look very expensive and feel great! Hop this helps! - Sddancer (07/25/2013)
