I got this unitard about three years ago, and the lace back is beginning to show signs of wearing out, but only just beginning. I've worm in several times a week in dance classes and also on stage. I love it. I wear it as a leo more than I do as a uni, just because the "shorts" part...well, they're very short. I love it though. The medium was a perfect fit for me and I'm 5'9" and about 135lbs
When I got this unitard in the mail, I was nervous it would have very little shape, but I was pleasantly surprised that you could still see my waist! The lace is absolutely gorgeous, and the zipper looks amazing when it's just a tiny bit unzipped. The fabric is really nice and the shelf lining is great- a panel of nude fabric with elastic across the bottom. The only downsides to this unitard are that the shorts ride up a little bit because they are kind of short, and you can just barely see where the shelf lining ends. Overall, this is a gorgeous unitard!
I wore this Leo for a contemporary piece at YAGP. Not only is this Leo soft, beautiful, and complimentary to your figure, it is very functional - good for floor work (the fabric doesn't create friction as you do rolls and sit-spins) and not restricting to your movement at all! I wouldn't recommend this Leo to someone with a long torso, as this Leo is supposed to lengthen the torso, and may shorten your leg line if your legs aren't very long... but then again, though I am petite, my legs aren't very long and this Leo looked quite good on me :) I also wouldn't recommend this as a purely ballet Leo, because of its unconventional style. But if you need it for contemporary/modern, or contemporary ballet, or whatever (even ballet if you're gonna be brave)... BUY IT, IT'S AWESOME!!!!
PS: the zipper isn't fake. Someone could, well, unzip it and see your bosom. (I know that sounds funny, but the young girl I was giving a correction to while I was assisting almost did!)
ive been wearing this to ballet class once or twice a week for almost 2 months now. i was afraid before that the lace might not last. but surprised on how durable it is. lace is still ok, no rips or snags.
i just make sure my nails are trimmed and filed so i wont accidentally snag the lace when i wear it.
over all im happy with my purchase!
how does the size for unitards run with this company?
i usually wear a size 4 in pants
most of the dance clothes i order are smalls
im just not sure what size i should get?
Natalie runs small and petite. Typical sizing is Petite 2-3, Small 4-6, Medium 8-10, and Large 10-12. However, if you are typically a small, I might consider movie up to a medium. Of course unfortunately we cannot guarantee sizing. - DDS Customer Service (05/02/2013)
