Brilliantly versatile, the Lumina pointe shoe by Russian Pointe features a wide and very stable toe platform for superb balance and a low crown for a streamlined profile. Lumina is perfect for dancers with even-length toes and shallow to slightly full feet. For the 'rectangular' foot (less tapered from the metatarsal area to the heel), Lumina has slightly more room in the heel. Pre-arched construction throughout the shoe mimics the shape of the foot en pointe, decreases pressure on the front of the foot for high arches, makes reaching full pointe easier for low arches, and minimizes break-in. Next-generation shanks provide flexibility and durability. Handcrafted in Russia in the grand tradition of pointe shoemaking.
I was so disappointed when RP discontinued the Dolce shoe. I finally found these (after trying on at least 15 other shoes). The #2 vamp is ever so slightly lower than the same vamp on the Dolce was. I wish more shank options were available from RP. I used to use the MedHardFlex in Dolce. I now have to use the HardFlex. At least it is comparable to my beloved and now discontinued Dolce.
I've been using these pointe shoes for almost 1 year now & I love them. They curve nicely with my arch and provide support for my feet. They also look clean (not too many wrinkles in the satin) when on releve, which is something that usually bothers me about different brands. I have tried other pointe shoes and just haven't found any that feel as comfortable on my feet as these do. The only complaint that i have is that once the shoe is broken in the box get soft quickly, but the shank will stay moderately hard for about 4 weeks:) i recently switched from a flexible-medium to a medium shank and they're perfect!
I danced on and off from when I was 3 until I was 20 and this was my fourth pair of pointe shoes. I got my first pair at 15 while in high school because I danced for ten hours per week outside of classes and was very dedicated to dance. I never really could dance though as I have weak ankles and no strength only flexibility and grace plus I never understood muscle isolation etc.. My first two pairs were Bloch Balance Europeans and my third pair I cannot remember. My fourth pair were this particular brand and this is the first time I've ever looked good in pointe shoes despite my low arches and weak ankles. After my arches collapsed at 18 I stopped dancing for a bit and when I tried again at 19/20 I realized dancing days for me were over so instead of saying 'I quitted' I say 'I retired'. Would definitely recommend these though. I now have a ballet slippers tattoo on my ankle to remember my old days but I don't miss them honestly but I do cherish the good days I had dancing.
I did not get these pointe shoes from discount dance, but I sure will next time! I love the color, it matches pink tights soo much better than regular pink pointe shoes. I usually get a hard shank but I got flexible medium in these and it's great! I started doing triples en pointe because it makes my balance so great! I love these and I recommend these if you need a hard shank.
I bought these shoes last month and the few weeks they lasted they were wonderful! The box is slightly wider so it's very easy to balance on. I loved how they looked on my feet and the box didn't wear out as my other shoes (Chacotts Veronese II, Bloch Suprima) did. My only complaint is that the shank is softer than most other RP shoes. These shoes lasted me about 3 weeks before the shank snapped. I had a Flexible Hard shank. I would really recommend these shoes to someone who have moderate arches so the shoes won't break in as quickly.
