    HELPS FOR FITTING

You can find these exact things for a good price at most drug stores for two pairs, often in suede too. I found these very helpful for keeping my somewhat narrow heels inside my pointe shoes or more ill-fitting slippers. So important since I'm usually between sizes and don't want to add too much padding in my toes. Sometimes they don't stick well, but they can be glued and even reused this way.

I bought them because my pointes shoes were a bit too big. I sew them in the shoe so that they wouldn't move in case they loose their stickiness and they work wonderfully. Now the shoe fits perfectly.

    DO NOT GET THESE!

I got these for my GMs they did not stick or even grip my heels. The whole class I was trying to make them stay in place until I had to take them out of my shoes. They ended up tearing apart. I bought some generic ones at my local dollar store and they worked better than these.

The Minden Heel Grippers are perfect for any dancer who is "between" shoe sizes. These take up the slack in the heel nicely, help prevent heel blisters, and don't show. Like most stick on products, the stickum won't really keep the heel gripper in place when your feet get warmed up, so here's the trick, especially when you're prepping a pair of new pointe shoes. Attach your ribbons and elastic as usual and then while you still have your sewing kit out, fit the grippers into each shoe (right over the inside elastic ends is fine). Now tack stitch the grippers in place as follows: Knot your thread then do a running stitch starting from the inside right of the shoe at the top edge of the gripper closest to the toe end. Stitch through the gripper to the outside of the shoe right under the base of the drawstring tape and then back through the satin and gripper to the inside of the shoe. Place the stitch on the outside of the shoe so it is "hidden" along the bottom edge of the drawstring tape. The visible stitch on the outside should only be about a 1/16th inch long and parallel to the drawstring. Sew about 4 stitches like this going towards the back heel seam. Continue down one side of the heel seam tape and back up the other (about 4 stitches per side) using the same "invisible stitch" method. Finish with 4 or 5 stitches going back towards the toe on the left side and end with a knot. Voila, the heel gripper will stay put perfectly and last for the life of the shoe (even Mindens). You can even take them out when your shoes die and reuse them in a new pair.

I definitely suggest that people use these. I tend to get blisters on the back of my heels, and these prevented them. They keep your shoes on well, and are squishy so they don't hurt. I love them.

    GOOD, BUT NOT SO STICKY

I would say that these worked really well, but I was mad that the stickiness was gone in a short amount of time. But while they were sticky, they worked well.

    GREAT!!!

These are awesome for keeping shoes from slipping off the heels. Or if you are in between sizes they help make a perfect fit. You sort of have to work with keeping them in at first but after several classes they are good to go.

BAD FOR BALLET, GREAT FOR STREET SHOES

These were horrible for my pointe shoes because they took up too much space. Though, I put them in my street shoes and they work great there. If you are looking for something to put in your pointe shoes try the Bunheads sticky strips.

These didn't really work to hold my pointe shoe on, but work great with, say, street shoes...I've found that rubbing rosin on the heel of my tights works far better to hold the heel of my pointe shoe on.
