I have higher arches and a fairly strong foot, and purchasing these shoes was a mistake. These shoes, like most other Capezio pointe models in my opinion, is much too soft, due to the poor construction of Capezio pointe shoes, where the outer sole is simply tacked to the bottom of the shoe using a single screw and little glue. There is not much reinforcement inside the shank and sole, thus making these shoes very very bendy. The extremely wide platform gave my feet the illusion of being boxy and wide. However, Capezio's new updates on this model ensures good comfort sur la pointe. If you have lower arches and shorter, more squared off toes, and if you prefer soft shoes, then these may be the shoes you were looking for all along.

glisse was my first pair of pointe shoes that lasted me 6 months(i was in beginning pointe so they lasted me quite a while. 0) than i switched to russian pointe rubin that i also liked but the box was all mushy after 4 months. Than i when back to glisse that lasted me only three months because i spilled jet glue all over the box, Than i got triumph that i have right now for two months and can't wait until they die because i don't like then at all. when they die ill go back to glisse and stay with them as long as i do pointe

balletandcoffee05/28/2013NICE AT FIRST
I got these as a 'step up' from being on bloch european balance for about a year and a half, and at first they worked okay, but they completely died in under three weeks. (although I was taking about 4 full classes a week en pointe, but still) I could completely feel the floor through the box when they were dead and the upper part of the shank towards the metatarsal seemed to break in the most (though I must say, it made my arches look nice!!!) My feet are wider at the metatarsal which this shoe accommodated nicely, as well as not digging into my bunions on my big toe knuckle. The spaciousness of the box gave me a tendency to roll back onto my pinky toes, and I had to work really hard just to stay over. Overall, I've definitely worn better quality shoes and I suppose if you are looking for something comfortable and don't do a lot of intense pointe work these would work, but I know I won't be going back to them.

Ballerinaree12/26/2012THICK SHANK
I wear a size 8 street shoe, average foot width I ordered a size 8.5 M. I wear DANZTECH 'Skinny Dips' toe pads and would have been better off purchasing these in a size 9 instead.
The shank was a bit thick and dug into my heel while I was standing flat. I don't have high arches, and these shoes died rather faster than I'm used to. I wasn't in love with these shoes, but when they were new they did 'push' me up onto pointe which was nice.

I have used this exact brand/size for several years! It fits my feet perfectly and the only problem would be... That they die easily! Mine are so dead that i just had to buy a new pair and it's only been a couple months. But i still love this brand and it's the only kind I'll ever use <3

i absolutely LOVED these shoes! However though, they did NOT last me long at all!!! I bought them the first week in June, and my right shoe broke the first week of August! This is my third year en pointe and I have extremely strong feet and high arches! I am going to get the extra hard shank this time and see how they work! Hopefully, they will last a lot longer than 3 months..... They molded to my feet so nicely and are SO comfortable! Yes, I do get a new blister ever week from them, but that is part of being a ballerina! HAHA!

these were my first pointe shoes, i heard they were good for beginners. idek what happened but they just... no. i got huuge blisters and my toes bled allll the time i had to stop in class and put tissues in my tights so they wouldnt get blood stains. and i wwas wearing thick gel toepads!! and also i think theyre just ugly. maybe some people like the square U box but it is just not tapered at all and like a gross lump not flattering. and the color is a BRIGHT peach. and they died very fast, the box was mushy after 5 classes or so, and they shank is semi-floppy.i like my grishkos and freeds.

ballerina12304/26/2012REALLY GOOD
I love my Capezio Glisse Pointe Shoes! This is my first year in Pointe. I have really high arches, but really wide feet, which I always thought would be a problem in Pointe shoes, but with these shoes, its not a problem! What I loved about these shoes (and why I chose them over the others when I tried them on) was that they are in fact comfortable, but they are also pretty supportive. They are a bit baggy in the heel, and they are pretty durable for me. I got through almost seven months with mine although I was only wearing them for about three or so hours a week. I would recommend these shoes to people, especially beginners! :)

Well I got these shoes this year for pointe, as I needed new ones. Though they were not fitted for my feet and required me to wear a lot more padding than I needed to. Also, after about 10 half hour pointe classes these shoes have basically started to de-shank themselves. The inside of the shoe has basically separated itself from the other part of the shank. all the way down. They also look like they are 2 sizes too big when they are about a half size too small. It's very baggy in the heel.
I have been wearing these shoes for several years and they fit my feet very well. They are meant for a wider foot with very mild tapering of the toes. I have been frusterated with them recently though because I order around 10 pairs a season and about 2 or more out of the ten have been of poor make. The bottom of the the platform on one shoe will be longer or there are lumps and bubbles in the platform as well. Since I have been wearing these for years without this issue I will continue to wear them but the recent workmanship (in the last year) has been disappointing.

Marta11/04/2011 Chicago,I LOVE THIS SHOE!
I love this shoe! I have a pretty wide foot so I had to settle for Bloch. They were great, but they weren't perfect so I got some Glisse's. The first time I put them on it was magic! My feet looked a normal width and they made my strong high arch look great! Normally, when I first get a pointe shoe, I will try to point my foot and it will just look like a bad foot and for the shoe to form to my foot they would have to be broken. These shoes formed to my foot immediately and they were still strong! But I will say that they got pretty soft, but once I applied Jet Glue to the inside of the box and the shank, they were good as new. This shoe is not for everyone but I would recommend it for sure!

El12/02/2009ALMOST MY FAVORITE
I have been wearing the glisse for 2 years. They are definitely my most reliable shoe. They are pretty hard to break in at first, but after that they stay at that perfect in between stage for a while (typically 2-3 weeks). I'd say one of the major drawbacks is that they have a high cut on the heel, so I have to dart them so I don't sickle. Also they start to "banana" if not broken in properly, but that might just be my feet. Yes, they are noisy, but the wide platform is great for turning and they mold to the foot well. Overall, I don't think this will be "my" shoe forever, but this is the best I've found yet.

For me it's a love hate relationship with these pointe shoes. At first, they are extremely hard to break in and very uncomfortable. However, once they are broken in and formed to your foot they are extremely comfortable and you will absolutely fall in love with them. I have always had a hard time finding a pointe shoe that is supportive enough while being flexible enough to roll through the box and arch. I alway get a normal strength shank and it does it's job very well. The only problem I have with these pointe shoes is that after a short period of time (it varies depending on the amount and intensity of pointe work I'm doing at the time) the edge of the box sinks in and breaks beyond usage. I usually figure this happens because I have a good arch and generally I'm just going over the shoes capability. However, all the other dancers who wear this type of pointe shoe have never had this problem. So like I said, it's a love hate relationship for me. Once they're broken in, they make my feet look great, I dance wonderful in them, they are very supportive, and I absolutely love them. They just have a short life span but I would definitely recommend these pointe shoes. :D

Anonymous03/17/2009GREAT!
I started off on Gaynor Mindens and at first loved them, but as I danced more they started to hurt my feet and when en pointe, I had a hard time getting over the box and it didn't actually look like I was up. My friend had a broken in pair of Glisses and she let me try them during one of our pointe classes. Immediately I could get up over the box and roll through the shoe, something I could not do with the Gaynors. My dance teachers immediately noticed the difference and were amazed at how big of an improvement these shoes made. Love em!!! :)

I love these shoes! My feet are slightly wide, and the box of these pointe shoes fit perfectly. The only problem that I experience with these shoes is that my arch is super-strong and I break them really quickly. Also my boxes are ruined within 3-4 weeks. They show-off your arch really nice. I highly recommend them to anyone with wider feet.

They are great for everyone I have ever spoken to and my daughter loves them and they do not hurt her feet at all! These were my first shoes. They are one of the best shoes out there, the heel is baggy, but there are many ways to help that. I also have really wide feet and had to get the double wide and they worked great... They have a hard shank at first, but I broke them in, in about a week! I recommend these shoes to beginners and everyone also who is en pointe!!!

I got these shoes for my first pointe class. I have a few complaints:
-they lose their color fast
-if you are a beginner, like me, they are hard to get up onto the box
-the shank weakens easily
-baggy in the heel
-slides off your heel unless it's tied PERFECTLY
Other than that, it's a great shoe. But, I recommend the Glisse Pro--addresses most of these problems.

I bought these for my first year of pointe (1 one-hour class per week). They did not last long at all. The box was much too soft so it molded more to my toes and did not flatten (so it was much harder to balance).

I have very weird feet that are HORRIBLE to fit in pointe shoes. I was about ready to give up on finding a good pair when I was fitted with these. A lot of the girls in my class use these too. They work on a wide variety of feet. They have a very square box, but I have extremely tapered toes. And yet have no problems with big toe pain. I just wear a toe spacer and stuff lambs wool in the bottom and my toes are happy even after a full class! As someone with a lower arch, I LOVE the soft skived shank. It doesn't show off my arch like my 2007s no, but it DOES form to my arch and support me through everything I do. I never wobble in this shoe because of the wide platform. I feel INCREDIBLY secure in this shoe. Most shoes refuse to stay straight on my foot (out of about 50 other pairs I've tried) stays straight so my platform is centered correctly. I love love LOVE this shoe. I will continue to wear it until I need a stronger shoe. This isn't a soft shoe, but it's not rock hard like Grishkos or Blochs or anything.

Sarah05/17/2008 Fairfax, Virginia,USE JET GLUE
As a girl with a high arch and wide feet, I liked these shoes. Since I tend to wear out pointe shoes pretty quickly (a month would be pushing it), I chose to get the Extra Strength version, which has an extra hard shank. Though the box does wear out very quickly (I'd suggest using Jet Glue if you are like me), what I like about these is that the shank extends all the way to the tip of the box, adding extra support-especially when you are forced to dance on a dead box.

There are 3 reasons I give these shoes just 3 stars:
-Baggy in the heels
-The box breaks down quickly/flattens out too quick
-And the color fades within the first couple weeks
But overall, these are great shoes. I started with these, then bought the pros, then came back to these. On my 3rd pair of these and they're working great!

Anonymous02/22/2008GET THE PROS!
These shoes break-in very easily, and even with time for them to dry, they seem to warp... or at least mine did. They also lose color within the first couple weeks. There is WAY too much fabric on the heel, so I recommend getting the Glisse pros. Overall these shoes are a good starter. I wear a street size 7.5-8 and I got an 8.5W in these.

I am getting my third pair of these in less than two years of pointe. I have wide toes and wear a size 8 in street, and get size 8.5 WW for these. The shanks get soft really fast which I like, but I hate how quickly the platform and box get soft! They should make them available harder.

This is the best ever! I started wearing these my 2nd year of taking pointe when they were new, and 6 years later, I am still wearing them! You just bend the shank (I take the nails out), and they are already broken in the first time you wear them! I have to say, they get "dead" VERY VERY fast, but they look beautiful, are comfy, and support while doing turns very nicely. Have fun with them!

Sandra04/26/2007 Los Angeles, Ca,GREAT BEGINNER SHOE BUT NOT SO PRETTY
These were my very first pair of pointes.
The platform was extremely easy to balance on and I was amazed at how much easier pointe turned out to be.
I have strong feet with medium arches and it took a while to break in to this shoe, in order for me to get up completely onto the box. At first I could very easily (almost effortlessly) roll up to about 90% up to pointe, but the last 10% to get totally on the box, was impossible until it was broken in more.
I did not find that they died (too) quickly for me. The shank usually dies first from back to front.
I also didn't need elastics. The heel stayed on very comfortable for me so I only used ribbons.
The box does seem like it is designed for square toes. Mine are tapered with my 2nd toe being really long. I used mini gel toe pads under my big toe, put inside my Ouch Pouches, and it fixed that problem. Though I think this might not be the best shoe for tapered toes, I strongly recommend using some kind of padding with this shoe. Overall, I think these are a great shoe for beginners because they are very forgiving and supportive. The only part that I did not like, was that the shank did not bend well at any part of arch that flattered my feet (it's not a very pretty shoe).

Eh. The Glisses were all right, but probably not for me. My arch looks FANTASTIC in them, but the box seemed too thin or something of the sort, and they started to hurt even after I broke them in (which didn't take too long, even with my crummy arches). If you can stand pain, I'd highly suggest these. Otherwise, hey ... good luck.

When I got them, I was in love with the Glisse. Now I hate them. I was experiencing extreme toe pain when up en pointe and it was never as comfortable as it could be. I had these shoes for a while and thought that they were the best ever. Then I started getting bunions, and they started to hurt. I then started to notice that they looked really bulky on stage. And on top of everything, during long rehearsals, since the shank was really short, it gave me huge calluses on my heels. I would not recommend this shoe.

The only 2 pointe shoes I've worn have been this Glisse pointe shoe and the Glisse Pro. I prefer the Pro more because this shoe has more baggage at the heel and covers more of your arch. The Glisse Pro has a lower cut to show off more of your arch or to enhance the look of your arch if you don't have one. This shoe held up pretty well but I think the Pro is a better buy!

I liked these and hated them at the same time. I liked how they were not bulky and how they had a high vamp for my long toes, but I thought they broke way too quickly and really hurt the nail on my big toe.
