    Fit: True to size

These shorts are very comfortable and fit very true to size. My only problem with these shorts is that when worn without tights underneath (or dance purposes), the bottom of the shorts tend to roll up into one long snake of fabric around the top of my leg leg. Other than that these, shorts are very soft, stay on well, and look great on all body types. I definitely recommend these shorts to anyone who is thinking about purchasing them!

  • Nice style, thin, run small

    by: Evelynn - 01/27/2016

    Comfort:

    Durability:

Not a bad style of shorts but they do run small. I'm a ladies size 6 and the large was still too snug. I'd say I have a pretty average athletic build with thighs on the larger side and the shorts dug into my legs. Not a bad style if you plan to wear them as underwear, I suppose, but the material is so thin and sheer that anything else would show right through.

  • Great product, if you're worried, have a

    by: 11MK11 - 10/02/2015

    Comfort:

    Durability:

I know when I read a review I need more than, "these are awesome!" so here it is: I read so many reviews before purchasing these, some said they were too big, some too small, most of them said that they were higher than the image. In the end, I am a 5'4" 120lb female hips 36 waist 26, I decided to go with a size medium. I gave it 5 stars because they're exactly what I was looking for, but four stars for comfort and durability because of the nylon fabric used. They arrived very quickly. When I tried them on, yes, the shorts have a higher waist than in the picture, but not dramatically-- for me-- they come up a little under my belly button. It's actually very flatting because on some of my other shorts I have to pull them up over that bit of flab that occurs when one bends over. The V doesn't need to be folded down, more like 2" and that's not that long. The thighs may be a little tight for some. If you're looking for a cotton short, don't buy these. (refer to description) The length of the short around the legs isn't as long as people have described-- I have spanx from target that are longer, or the high-waist theatricals from DiscountDance that come to mid thigh-- but when I bend over my butt isn't hanging out (36" hips) All of the things I was worried about turned out fine-- I would suggest ordering at least 1 size up though. **Also note I just got these and haven't had the chance to dance in them.

  • Comfortable, Will Buy Another

    Comfort:

    Durability:

I really like the type of material used on these shorts. I think it will be durable and hold up well to rigorous dancing. The material is comfortable, doesn't give me a wedgy and covers well. I even found that after a hard dance class the material helped to get rid of sweat faster. While my leotard was soaked, my shorts were barely damp. I found that it does run a bit larger than I expected but it still fit fairly well.

I wear these to tap most times I go to class. They're great as far as style and durability, the only thing is that they ride up. It's to be expected, of course. Overall, they're awesome.

    by: PoleFun - 05/20/2015

I got 2 pair of these, one in black and one in red in XL. They're pretty comfortable and good if you have a butt because your cheeks aren't falling out. I got these for pole fitness, so I'll see how they hold up in there.

  • Glad I Ordered the Medium!

    by: edb02a - 02/25/2015

    Durability:

I really like the length of the shorts since I just turned 30 ;) I'm 5'1" 110 lbs and I got size medium. I'm glad I did because the leg openings are a little snug and would have cut in too much if I would have ordered a small. I am very pleased with them!

  • Flattering fit

    by: RobotMom - 11/13/2014

    Comfort:

    Durability:

We needed to replace a well worn favorite pair of Motionwear dance shorts that are no longer available. So many dance shorts are ill fitting and we took on a chance on these after reading the reviews. I bought size Medium for my daughter who is 5'4" , weighs 110, and wears a junior size 3. The fit is fantastic! The slightly higher waist is very flattering and the length is long enough to keep cheeks covered without looking frumpy. These shorts are not a cotton blend so they are a bit shiny and more prone to snags.

  • Nice shorts!

    by: DancingFool - 08/27/2014

    Comfort:

    Durability:

I've been procrastinating getting new shorts for a long time! I couldn't decide what I liked online and based on reviews everything was very mixed. I am really happy with these shorts! I will likely order a few more! They fit nicely, I got a large which is true to size for me (5'8", 165lbs#. They are also a little longer, not a true booty short which is nice and they don't really ride up too bad! I'm really happy with this purchase and would recommend them to others. I also don't wear a leotard all the time #especially when it's really hot in the summer# and I had no problems with these being see-through or anything, they were fine for me!

  • Full coverage, no ride-up, flattering mo

    by: NCDanceMom - 08/17/2014

    Comfort:

    Durability:

After years of square "booty shorts" that fit very few bodies well (y'all know what I mean... a room full of cheeks hanging out the backs or tummies over the tops) there are now TONS of options, for nearly any size and shape. We've tried several - and these are absolutely the bomb. My daughter is 5'7" and weighs around 120lbs. She dances lyrical, jazz, modern, ballet, hip hop, contemporary - around 15 hours a week total. Tall and lean, she is a teeny bit high-waisted and traditional shorts have never fit her well. I bought these just to try last year. On reading the reviews, we got 2 pair of black shorts in size large. She abandoned an entire drawer full of other shorts and wore those two day in/day out the entire year!! they are absolutely wonderful. The fit is very contemporary. Think "high-waisted lite". Coming above the hip bone but still below the belly button. They are very flattering. Legs are not long enough to be awkward but long enough that all parts stay covered. I'd say the legs fit more like the Nike compression shorts (made for runners) which a lot of girls also wear for dance. Overall they give a beautiful dance line. The fabric is also excellent. These are NICE shorts! As I said, we washed them over and over and over again. There has been no fading, no loss of elasticity/stretch, no picks or other signs of wear. **I will say that I've just ordered two more pair - but this time got a medium. In fall, when we combine ballet, competition team technnique classes, choreography, AND school dance team - she tends to slim down even more. The large shorts still fit ok - but at about 117lbs the medium will work better. My only complaint: they only come in two colors. I'd love to see these offered in chocolate, navy, or other colors!!!

  • Best dance pants ever!!!

    by: chey - 04/09/2014

    Comfort:

    Durability:

The material that these pants are made of make them very flattering on. The higher waist is very attractive as well. They do not ride up and bind like most dance shorts. They are just a hair longer than the short ones as well, which makes them more versitile for after class wear.

I bought these shorts a little bit ago, and I was surprised when I got them because the top goes up much higher than I thought. I have to fold them to make them fit how I want. They are also pretty comfortable. They weren't a waste of my money but I wish I would have known how they fit before I purchased them.

I hate these shorts. I got these 2 years ago and never wore them 'cause they were so uncomfortable. They come up super high and run super small. At the stores I always wear a small but to be safe, I ordered a medium but they are extremely small. Now my dance coach at my school wants the team to order the pants and shoes by this brand. I don't trust it but I will buy them to make her happy. I still have no clue what size to order because of this and because of other reviews but I will figure it out.

  • They are worth the price

    by: Kim - 07/15/2008

I am usually a size small. I ordered medium because of the other reviews and they were a little loose in my waist. But it is true that you have to roll them and they are very comfortable.

I love these. The only problem is that the waist line is high. Order 2 sizes bigger.

  • OK

    by: Lola - 04/19/2007 - Seattle,

The shorts in the picture look very different from the shorts I received in the mail. My shorts have a "V" front and sit on my waist. They function, and the size was true to my own (I'm a small, small fit me fine). I didn't feel a dire need to return them, but next time, I'll order different shorts.

  • Definitely runs small

    by: ShoppingMom - 08/09/2006 - California,

I bought these for my daughter, who wears a child size large, or can wear a jr size 0 (XS) but it tends to be baggy. Based on other reviews I purchased the Adult Large and that fits her.

    by: Amelia - 07/21/2006 - Washington,

Yes I would also agree to order like 2 sizes bigger than usual. I'm so glad I took the advice of the others and ordered an XL instead of my usual Med. I know that's a big difference. But I just got them and they fit wonderful. They fit perfect. The Polyester/Spandex is a nice combination.

These shorts are made really small. I bought a small and I am in the process of exchanging them for a large ( I wear a 2). Yes, that big of a difference. I couldn't even get them up my thighs. But the quality is nice. It goes perfectly with the $10 Dance Department leotard.

I absolutely love these shorts! I have at least 2 pairs, that's how much I love them. They are extra comfy, and the fabric is really soft.
