When buying a dance costume, you expect it to be durable and comfortable. If you happen to find that dance costume at a great price then that is an added bonus. I ordered the Body Wrappers Triple Panel Liturgical Skirt for a New Year’s dance performance; our group ordered nine in total, two of those we had to order through a different website because Discount Dance doesn’t offer child sizes, or an exact replica of it. Of the seven we ordered through this website, six of them were sizes small/mediums and one was large/x-large. We ordered the skirt in black and we received it in about a week for only a flat rate shipping cost of 2.95. The skirts were very true to size, however, we found that the waistband used can stretch quite a bit and the skirt can fit many different sizes comfortably. With the size small/medium, we managed to fit a 10 year old and a 25 year old, weights ranging from about 90 pounds and 130 pounds, and heights ranging from about 4’09 to 5’2.
The skirts so far have been very durable, not a stitch has come undone on any of the skirts so far. I don’t know if this differs with the black and white skirt but with the black skirt, it is not see-through at all. However, when you spin or jump, the skirt will rise up quite a bit and especially since this is a liturgical skirt, you should probably wear tights or a leotard underneath just to be on the safe side. The skirt is very comfortable but a little on the heavy side. Because the skirt has a full circle of fabric, you get beautiful and graceful turns but a lot of weight that comes with it although; you can also cut the skirt to the desired length without needing to hem it. We happened to do this with two of the girls and it didn’t cause the skirts to start to unravel or fringe at the bottom.
I’ve purchased leotards, tap shoes, dance paws, and gels for pointe shoes and have typically never have had a problem with discount dance or the problem of finding a better price after purchasing things through the website. But before I purchased the skirts I did some research on other websites because I was purchasing so many of them. I found that on numerous websites, the skirts cost on average about five dollars more than on discount dance. Not a lot, but enough to cover the shipping charge. Overall this skirt was worth the purchase when considering the durability, comfort, pricing and beauty.
