  • Easy to Break In & Long Lasting

    by: JocelinaBallerina - 02/27/2016

    Comfort:

    Durability:

These shoes are wonderful and have used them for about two years! They have survived through dance heavy shows such All Shook Up and West Side Story! They are also very easy to break in! They do run a bit small so I would suggest ordering a half size up.

Love these shoes. They were so comfortable and fit well right out of the box. Got them on a Thursday, wore to a dance Saturday. Would definitely order again - and the price was right.

  • Runs super small

    by: 1DancingSr - 11/02/2015

    Comfort:

    Durability:

Most of the dance foot wear I have ever worn in my life has been Capezio brand. This particular shoe runs so small I had to return the shoes and order the next size up. Could barely squeeze my foot into the shoe, and it wasn't the "newness", it was actually just made that way. If you get the right fit, it's a nice shoe for dancing.

I've only worn them for one class so far, but they were comfortable and easy to dance in. I noticed that it was slightly difficult to point my toes while wearing shoes; that will take some getting used to.

  • Cheap

    by: swingdancer - 07/04/2015

These shoes are very cheaply made...poor quality with a very thin foam/fabric like insole that moves around when wearing shoe. I sent them back and would not recommend them to anyone!

  • Great for 30minutes

    by: PrincessClovertoes - 06/19/2015

    Comfort:

    Durability:

I previously owned this exact pair of shoes for three years until I ripped the side of my right shoe in half towards the bunion area. Since the first pair had lasted so long I decided to order another pair. Originally when getting the shoes, I was professionally fitted and ended up going a half a size up from my street shoe to allow room to point with high arches, and for possible swelling. I ordered the same size, wore the new pair once to perform a piece from A Chorus Line and the split the same as my first pair had. Needless to say I was super disappointed and will not be ordering them again, too costly for a one use shoe.

My daughter has hard to fit feet and this shoe was perfect for her. The shoe had a quick break in period. She said the shoe was supportive for long rehearsals and felt good when she was dancing. Will be ordering her a pair of black ones next now that we know her size.

  • Good Dance Shoes

    by: mrp914 - 07/07/2014

    Comfort:

    Durability:

I like these a lot, but I do recommend that you buy them at least a month before needed as they are very hard to break in. (break them in quicker by scuffing them on gravel or spraying rubbing alcohol on the bottoms). They do add discomfort on my big toenails, I'm not sure if that is because of the sizing or the shoe itself. Heel height is easy to dance in. I feel like the sizing is true to street shoe size, but I would suggest ordering a half size up.

The shoe was a very good shoe but they run small. I had ordered a half size larger but it was too tight so I have returned it for a larger size. I needed the shoes as I am a line dancer.

  • Great charecter shoes for dance and thea

    by: DancerCO14 - 06/18/2014

    Comfort:

    Durability:

I had to buy black character shoes for a spanish classical dance class. These were comfortable, a nice height and fit true to size. They also held up through 2 years of fairly regular use. Then, this fall, I had to get a pair of nude character shoes for my school musical. I had liked these in the past, so I ordered them in nude. They were again one of the cheapest shoes, and were comfortable and a good height. Also, I was a 7 when I got them and the 7 fit perfect. Now I'm a 7.5 and they feel a tiny bit snug, but not unbearably so. If you are between a size and a 1/2 size, I'd order up for growing, but they seem to be true to size. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase, and will buy this style again if I need another pair.

  • Order one size up from street shoe size!

    by: Libbey - 03/17/2014

    Comfort:

    Durability:

I would definitely order one size up! I did, and they are working great so far for my theater production. A friend pointed out that the sole is such that they would not be good for wearing outside, if that is important to you.

  • Character shoes run small

    by: squirtsmom - 03/12/2014

    Comfort:

The character shoes I ordered run small. I ordered a size 7 but when my daughter tried them on, her toes were right up against the top of the shoe. Fortunately, the exchange policy is excellent and I was able to get a larger size without any issues.

  • Runs small but super comfortable!

    by: Lianna - 02/15/2014

    Comfort:

    Durability:

I needed shoes for my school musical and the choreographer suggested character shoes from discount dance supply. I had no idea which ones to get, but based on the ratings i thought that these would be my best choice. Shoes arrived within two days in perfect condition. They're super comfortable and are way cuter than they looked online. I have this shoe four stars because they do run small. My shoe size is about an 8 - 8 1/2 and I ordered a size 9. If there was no strap on this shoe, I would be stepping out and tripping and getting blisters. Overall, I really like this shoe and would totally recommend it to someone looking for a strapped shoe for a play or musical.

  • These fit 1/2 size too small!

    by: Dancegoddess - 01/17/2014

    Comfort:

    Durability:

These schools are supportive and durable but run about 1/2 size small so order up. I'm a solid 9 in all my shoes and this 9 was very tight, my toes were touching the tip of the shoe and very squeezed. I gave comfort a 1 because they were too small to properly access. I returned them. I decided on a different Capezio shoe and ordered 1/2 size larger. I will write a review when I receive them.

  • Size runs true/fast shipping/Customer se

    by: campingmama - 09/27/2013

    Comfort:

    Durability:

Most reviews said these run small, so I ordered a size larger for my daughter who is 15. Well, they were way too big! So, she borrowed a pair from a friend for a choir event, and they were right on her normal size. So, I have ordered her another pair in the regular size for her in the wide width. Maybe that's the difference, the come in a wide width. ??? She says they are comfortable, they look beautiful, really classy! The original pair is going back today and her correct size pair should be here the beginning of the week. I love the fast turn around and prompt reply from customer service!

  • These are great shoes but they run VERY

    by: Niecy - 11/20/2012

    Comfort:

    Durability:

These are great shoes but they run VERY small!! I purchased them for my "tween" daughter who wears a size 3. The site suggests to by 1 -11/2 sizes larger so I initially bought a size 5. She couldn't even get her foot in them, so I had to exchange them (and pay the extra fee) for a size 6. The size 6 fits perfectly, but there is no room for future growth...should have exchanged for a 6 1/2 so she could wear them a bit longer. Great shoe, very comfy, just be aware of the size issue.

  • Not so great

    by: Rhiannon - 12/19/2009

I bought these shoes in 2001 for swing dancing, and while they are certainly sturdy and stable, I'm always aware that I have them on. If you can't try these on before buying them or aren't willing to send them back if they don't fit, I don't recommend them. Since they have synthetic uppers there is NO stretch whatsoever. I wear a 6 or 6.5 street shoe, purchased these in a 7.5, and they are still just a little too tight.

    by: Lizzie - 03/30/2009

I wore these shoes for show choir last year. I love them. I have to order new ones for dance this year and am seriously considering them. They're comfortable to stand on and dance in for over 30 mins! I could run in them even. Five stars!

  • Comfortable!

    by: Gypsy - 10/26/2008 - California,

I bought these to use as tap shoes after trying on several other pairs. These were by far the most comfortable. I try to avoid leather whenever possible, so I like that these have a PU upper. If the sole was man-made instead of leather I would have given these shoes a 5!

    by: Young Dancer - 08/02/2008

These shoes were required for my tap class and they are wonderful! I have really big feet... I am a street shoe size 11. I got a pair of 11 wides and they fit beautifully. It just pained me to spray the comfortable leather gold for our performance...

  • Good for beginners

    by: Rachel - 03/15/2008 - Louisiana,

I recently did a show where I had to skip a lot, and these shoes were very comfortable! The only problem I have with these is that they make the leg line look short and stumpy! I'm planning on getting the student footlight now.

  • by: Leigh - 02/24/2008 - Texas,

I bought a pair when my old ones wore out. The achilles notch is OK in theory but it makes the shoes look short and stumpy. It also leaves a gap on the heel. The new shoe definitely has a different size ratio. The 7 was way too small and the 7 1/2 was bordering on too big. The new folded edge looks unfinished like that of a cheap shoe. As a lover of the old style shoe and the Capezio brand, this model leaves me looking for a different character shoe.

  • Wonderful!

    by: Anonymous - 08/22/2007

I highly recommend these character shoes! They are extremely comfortable due to the inside padding and the Achilles notch. The heels on these are not as high as the other Capezio two inch character shoes, so they don't create as long of a line. However, I've heard that these shoes are more comfortable, and they look very pretty on. I LOVE these shoes!

  • Love these shoes

by: Anonymous - 06/25/2007 - San Antonio, Tx,

I absolutely love these shoes! They are my first pair of character shoes. As soon as I put them on, I fell in love with them. I never wanted to take them off. I would wear them with everything if I could. Just be careful when you start wearing them, they are a little slippery. I found this out because at rehearsal, I slipped going down the stairs of the stage. But other than that, they are extremely comfortable. I suggest these for everyone.

I love these shoes! Like it says under fitting, buy a 1/2 size up. Walk around on carpet with them to get them broken in. They're not very comfortable if they're not broken in. But other than that they're awesome.

  • The BEST!!

    by: Mary A w/ MK - 06/23/2006 - Spokane Valley, Wa,

I don't use mine for dance. I use these for the most comfy shoes I've ever owned & I'm 51 yrs old. At seminar we walk tons & many end up in stocking feet, not professional. My goal for 2nd yr was great shoes and these are IT. I never had to remove them during the 5 days of long walks (except at night). I won't wear any others for comfort.
