New York,NYLooking for an inexpensive shoe to wear instead of my teaching shoes to "match" the youngest students.
#1 the elastics are completely pre-sewn. I want to adjust my elastics and bought these because reviews said they are seen only at the heel.
#2 the fit is bad. The length is ok, but the shoe games in a number of places. The drawstring has to pulled too tight, which is the opposite of the last pair of slippers I ordered.
I wish I could go try stuff on!!

Miami Gardens,FLThe shoe fits exact like if it was measured and made for my daughter. Too bad she won't be able to use it for her recital since the pick is a very loud pink.

05/11/2021I am 5'9 and my street size is 11, so I got a size 12.0 narrow. Overall these shoes hurt, my toes rammed against the front of the shoe. I am 17 and I haven't dances in about 5 years, I don't know if my arches are too low for the shoes or if i just got the sizing wrong. i do know that after my break from dance my feet are more flatter than usual. They just hurt so much that I can't dance in them.

Oakridge,ORThese are great for class. I have to dancers and we go through a lot of ballet slippers, so we appreciate that the elastics on these are pre-sewn and ready to wear when they arrive. They run extremely small so we order way up (4 sizes up).

Colorado Spgs,COThe size chart was right on for us with this shoe. My son wears size 8 street shoe, and he orders 11M. He has these for everything! The Flesh color is his favorite, because he likes it to blend in with his foot. However, he also has black and white, because sometimes those are required for class or performance. Durability is as expected for a canvas ballet shoe. We buy several pairs per year.

06/07/2019I needed a "flesh" colored shoe for a part I was understudying. Based on the pictures of the shoe labeled "flesh" I thought that even if it wouldn't quite be my skin tone, it would be pretty close. When the shoes arrived they were a strange deep orange color. My friends all agreed that they couldn't think of anyone who had a skin tone that would match these shoes. Also when I put them on (because of the color they could not be used though) they ran pretty small. I think besides these two main issues of color and size, they could have possibly been a great durable shoe.

Mineral Point,WII like these shoes for my students because the elastics come sewn, but DDS is unable to keep common sizes in stock. I find the shoe comfortable with enough padding in the sole for cushioning on jumps. I typically wear a size 7.5 to 8 wide street shoe and wear a size 11N in these Silhouettes.

08/08/2018Great shoes! Good quality, very comfortable! Not sure how long they last, hence my 3-star durability rating, because I haven't worn them for class yet. But they fit perfectly. Highly recommend.
Please note that the buyer must sew own elastics, shoes do not come sewn. Thank you!

Sterling,VAI've HAD a couple of these in different colors, them for quite a while and I love them, the fit was perfect and because of the split soil it gives my arch freedom and molds to my movements. Also, I find them easy to clean unlike the leather shoes, just toss them in the washer with my clothes (cold water) and air dry, very simple.

Singapore,I've owned several pairs of these shoes, and like how the fit me. I wear size 8 street shoe size, and the size chart recommends 10. At first they were baggy, but after the first wash, they shrank a bit and became the perfect size. I also found that they can stretch a bit to conform to your feet, and after wearing, have a definite left and right shoe.
The elastics are only attached at the back, so you still need to sew them at the front.
In short, a good pair that needs a bit of work, at a price that can't be beat.

11/15/2017Shoe runs small. Ordered these shoes for my daughter based on the size chart and she should be right in the middle of her size, but no. They somehow manage to dig into her heel because they are too short and yet have excess fabric at the ball of the foot.Ordered a medium width.

10/02/2017I have been using these shoes for the past 3 years and I absolutely love them. I cannot foresee myself changing brands ever. They do run very small but I wear a 9.5 or 10 and have wide feet and ordered an 11 W and they fit like a glove! Their durability is good and I probably go through 1.5 pairs in a whole year including summer classes and practicing on my wood floors at home and then a pair will usually last me into the beginning for the next dance year. They are comfortable and support my feet through 2 hr ballet classes. And the elastics come pre sewn. how convenient, I love these shoes!

Marble Falls,TXI neglected to read any reviews before ordering this shoe.
I would suggest Discount Dance say in their description that the shoe runs small.
I ordered my daughter her shoe size, 8, and she couldn't get it on. I returned it and ordered next size up, 9, and it was still too small. I'm now out all the shipping charges and should have just gone to Capezio and bought some in store. My bad.
Also, neither pair and attached elastics.

02/07/2017I gave it such a low rating for a couple of reasons. One, in the description it says 'ATTACHED ELASTICS,' when I got the shoes the elastics were not attached at all. Two, the shoes were VERY wide and flimsy around the edges. Three, they felt like paper, not very soft and comfy.
I hope this helps!

12/18/2016I've read all of the previous reviews saying their shoes were too small so I followed their advice on getting larger sizes. I wear a street shoe size 8 and I have pretty wide feet. I ordered a size 11 wide *sansha size and they fit great! pretty roomy too!

Overland Park,KSI followed the sizing chart, but these shoes were way too tight when I got them. I sent them back and went to order the next size up, but of course those are the ones that they don't carry...since I have not worn them, I cannot comment on their durability or comfort. I would definitely recommend ordering a size larger than what the chart says!

Pierre,SDRuns small, I ordered a size 10 and in street shoes I wear size 8 and a half. A 10 and a half would have probably fit but it would have been very bulky on the side of my toes.

02/11/2016I've spent more on return postage than I have on the shoe itself! Returned three sizes after finally finding the size I need. I am size 10.5 street shoes and got a size 14…after following the sizing guidance and then having to move up two more sizes! Otherwise the show is fine and just what I need.

09/17/2015I and a 9.5, and I ordered a size 12. They are still a bit too small, but I think a whole size more would be too much. I wish they had half sizes! However, I have wide feet, so the medium width was perfect.
I got mine in black, which I prefer, but I haven't personally seen the other colors.
This is my first ballet shoe, so I don't know exactly how they should feel. The canvas seems a little tougher than the shoes of the other people in my class, but even small I can wear them all class without being uncomfortable.
I don't know how durable they are, since I only just bought them, but the canvas and seams feel very sturdy. Overall, I like them very much for a first shoe.

09/03/2015Good shoe for a beginning ballet student. Canvas ballet shoes get dirty quicker but like the breathablity of a canvas shoe. Order at least one or two sizes above street shoe.

09/01/2015I purchased one pink and one black Sansha canvas ballet shoe and the quality on them are so worth it! They are stylish, comfortable, and elegant. The shoes earned 5 stars for comfort. I'm giving advanced credit of 5 stars for durability by the look of the craftsmanship, but I haven't put them to the test yet! Class begins this week...
NOTE: the Sansha shoes fit very short in length and wide in width. My street shoe size in women's is 12 wide a.k.a (12 C). I ordered Sansha in 15 medium which was way to short in length, width was perfect. The best fit I found was the size 17 medium which fit like comfortable socks, not to tight and not to loose. The sizing chart online is either incorrect or just confusing to me?!

07/13/2015I like this product. It runs wide and it runs small in length. I got a medium 9 at first and had to exchange for a narrow 10. I should have done a narrow 11, but I didn't have time to exchange them again. They're nice to practice in.

03/18/2015I absolutely love these slippers!
A lot of people complain about the sizing. I suggest to get fitted and buy your first pair (or when changing brands) at a ballet store and then order your next pairs on-line. This will save you a lot of trial and error frustration. All brands run different in size and is no indication whether they're good shoes or not!

11/25/2014I bought these for my petit 11 year old who wears a size 2 street shoe. Got her a size 6 because the reviews for most shoes say they run small. They fit good with growing room, but are wide on her narrow feet. Next time I might order narrow. She is happy with them and glad she switched to a split-soled shoe. Don't know about durability because she has not had them long.

10/30/2014I have very wide feet and am a size 6, so I ordered a 7 W. Fits perfectly, nice and snug. If you like growing room, I would go up 2 sizes.
Shoe feels like it will be easy to dance in on first wear - no "breaking in" necessary. A very nice color pink as well; not too peachy or too bright.

08/04/2014Can't testify to the durability and comfort. This shoe was so small! Read reviews that the shoe ran small so I tried to adjust for it. I ordered 3 sizes above my normal size and my foot couldn't even go into this shoe. I didn't feel like trying to guess another size so I went with the Grishko canvas flat which was sized perfectly and is a beautiful shoe.

06/16/2014My daughter, an advanced dancer, has worn these canvas shoes for years and absolutely loves the look and fit. As for size, you may want to order several pairs and return what doesn't work--the size chart is way off. She wears a 6.5 N street shoe (about a 37 EU) and in this shoe, she wears a 5N Sansha size. (She wears her shoes snug.) According to what's here, she would wear an 8!

01/31/2014They run a little small, I would recommend getting a full size larger than you think. Otherwise comfy and durable feel.
The straps have to be sewn on though which was unexpected.

11/29/2013talk about running small! My daughter has been wearing size 2.5 size Capezio Juliette which are great and fit her very well. I was looking for another slipper for her as the Juliette does not come in size 3 for some reason so I ordered these in 3. they are small on her! her large toe is bent when she puts them on. I don't get how a 2.5 in Capezio fits her and the 3 in Sansha is small. I would at least expect a size up to fit and not be small but they are small. totally returning them.

09/10/2013Though I cannot say much about the style because they run so small. I followed the sizing chart, but when I got y slippers I found that I would need to go up 2 sizes. From what I can tell the quality is good for the price, but be careful when selecting size.
