These shoes are okay. They fit me nicely, although they do run a bit smaller than the chart specifies. For me, these shoes were very easy to break in and became soft very quickly. They articulated my arch nicely. I did not use the extra shank. The satin on the shoes is very thin and low quality. It is marred easily. I was not able to use my gel toe pads with these shoes (they caused the box to not fit quite right), but I did use toe tips and that was just fine. If I were to buy these again, I would probably only use them for one rehearsal, and not for regular class.

    AWESOME SHOES!

these were my first pointes and I love them! the whisper toe really does work and the are quite confortable. however. the sizes run really small. I was supposed to order a 9, me being a 7, and I ordered a 10 and they fit perfectly I love them! also, the breaking in is quite hard so it takes awhile, but these r really great compaired to the $ of other brands! will be ordering again!

    WORST POINTES I'VE EVER HAD!

I have arched feet and average, tapered toes. At first at the fitting, they were the last ones left I could try, (my dance store is not that big, it has 2 pointe shoe brands) and I was tired and wanted to get out of there. They fit fine really, not too comfortable but ok. When I came home I tried them on again and I noticed that they werent supporting my foot that well, My feet kind of have a wave in them, like they are very 'wingey' and the shank was not straight on my heel, and I thought like probably when I sew the ribbons and elastics on, they will fit, so I did'nt really think about it but even with ribbon and elastic it still did that a little. Then I went on vacation and after dancing about 20 minutes in them the box where your toes stands on it, was completely soft, also sometimes I would stand en pointe and the shank didn't go with my arch, it would stand straight. After about 3 times dancing in them they were dead. (I had the hard shank, it didn't come with the elastic or extra shank like on this website unfortunately) A week ago I went to Amsterdam to this big balletstore and I got fitted to Bloch Serenades, I love them and I would definitaly recommend them, they feel like they will last a long time, and if so I will purchase them again!

    OVERALL VERY GOOD

I really like this pointe shoe for the low price. Not the best I've ever had, but certainly not the worst. Good stuff: Very durable. Seriously, these last forever. I've had them for months and still haven't needed the shank reinforcers, which are nice to have and make them last even longer. Not-so-good stuff: Very hard to break in, which goes hand in hand with how durable they are. Even after breaking them by hand, it took more than a week for them to get it done fully. The elastic is awful, just like most "invisible" elastic in my experience. Frayed and snapped after two or three uses. I also think it's sewn too far back, but whatever, no big deal to put your own in. I also don't like that there are no half sizes, which is more of a problem for others than myself, but still. I'm a 7.5 down to the millimeter and a 10 was good, although a teensy bit tight at first. I do think they run very slightly narrow, though, since I don't have wide feet and my metatarsals feel a little squeezed in these. Contrary to how they're advertised, I think these are best for slightly tapered toes, not either extreme. I have very tapered toes and these had the problems you'd expect with that mismatch, but I'm making them work.

VERY GOOD SHOE, ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE

My first pointe shoes were Grishko 2007s - they were great for the first stages, but as my metatarsals strengthened my forefoot became wider, and I realized that the shank was just a smidge too long to allow me to rise to my full demi without pain near my instept. I have a pretty high arch and instep, a small heel, very long, slightly tapered toes, and an overall narrow foot. My current Grishko model is the Triumph, which I love, but they get expensive. I am a size 7 street shoe and I first ordered a size 8M in these, but I had to go with a 9N due to the length. These might be the FIRST model I've tried that gives me everything I need - a shank that supports me in the right places, solid platform balance, a vamp that is exactly the right length, and no bagginess at the heel (for me, the Triumphs do all of these except the last). If I could I might have taken off half a star for durability, as they certainly break in faster than Grishkos or Russian Pointes, and for the flimsy elastic that comes attached, which always seems to require reenforcement. Otherwise, it's a great shoe for me.

WOW FINALLY I HAVE POINTE SHOES THAT FIT

I have a very tapered and extremely long toes with large knuckles on my big and baby toes, these shoes fit like a dream!!! before I was wearing Bloch sonatas in 5B wich were very painful on the sides of my feet..I now wear these in 10W, best fitting I've ever had, plus the price is amazing and my fitter said they would last longer! They also have an elastic drawstring which I love. I also especially love the aesthetic of the low profile, long vamp and small platform, WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN!!! I can't get over them! I wear size 7 1/2-8 women's shoes and size 8N in sansha pro ballet slipper.

SIZING CHART IS OFF A LITTLE.

My trainer wanted me to get these shoes. I wear a 5 1/2 to a 6 in street shoes, so I got the 8. It was way too big. The box fit nicely, and the shank was good for my low arch, but there was tons of room in the heel. I am exchanging them for a 7, but haven't gotten those yet. I hope they fit!

I LOVED THEM FOR ABOUT 2 DAYS

These were my first pair of pointe shoes and I loved them for about 2 days. After that the boxes broke down and I broke the shanks. I had to put in the stems, but they made the shank twist drastically. I then broke the stems two weeks later. I'm so happy these only last a month for me because I really started to hate them. I have very high arches and extremely flexible feet and these shoes were totally wrong for them. They get 2 stars for the price, but I found you get what you pay for with these shoes.

    GREAT FOR GOOD, LONG FOOT

I love these shoes. They are so inexpensive and they fit me perfectly. I've tried on tons of shoes and most were too narrow across my feet at the joints. I wear a street size 9 1/2, and I wear the 13M's. I have nice, straight, flat toes, and crazy archy feet. These shoes break in really easily for me (don't go at them too hard, once I literally over-broke them in and I couldn't wear them for more than one class they were so dead, just bending them back and forth a bit, and rolling up to pointe a few times works for me, they also take jet glue pretty well if you need to strengthen them. They come with a nice ankle elastic that you adjust and attach yourself... girls are always interested in where they can find them. Give these shoes a shot, they may be for you.

These shoes are very unflattering, my feet look horrible and it is very hard to get up on pointe. I have low arches and these shoes make my feet look REALLY bad. I do not suggest them for anybody.

This pointe shoe is incredible. My daughter has a pair and she loves them. She says "they don't make my toes bloody or even hurt at all. This is an amazing pointe shoe. She told me to get a pair but sadly my days in ballet are over but I was glad she was having so much fun in ballet without any regrets!!!

    NOT SO GOOD

These pointe shoes are nice because they are cheap and come with elastic and a mesh bag. However, as these are my first pair, the shank was too hard for a beginner. Also when I broke them in the shank bent. It isn't broken but is very bent. Also the elastic has already started to break and I've only had them for about a month.

    PRETTY GOOD

I've had Sansha's for about 3 years now. I have a very strong arch and I have to jet glue the shoe BEFORE I start to wear them or I can't even dance with them. The box on the other hand does not break in at all but the tip of the shoe dies in about 2 weeks. (6 classes a week). The box doesn't form to your feet either but they look great on me so I still wear them. Looking for a better shoe.

I DON'T LIKE THESE SHOES AT ALL

These pointe shoes were my very first ones. I hated them. I still do. They are impossible to break-in, and they are ugly. I only wore them because I had wide feet, but otherwise they are not great. I am now wearing Grishko 2007's which are more expensive but feel really good.

    I REALLY HATE THESE SHOES.

The box dies quickly but the shank doesn't. They are too short for my feet in the size I have, but too long in the next size up. They are square and wide and force all of my weight onto my big toe, and the "narrow" size really isn't that narrow. The pre-attached performance elastic is really wide and falls apart, and is itchy if you try and remove it because little pieces of it stay sewn on. Also, I have never had problems with blisters or bunions before, but every time I dance in these shoes I get blisters, and I am getting a bunionette on my left foot. Thankfully, their boxes are pretty much dead now so I can justify buying a new (different) pair. Don't buy these shoes if your feet are narrow, tapered, or if you have high arches. I don't think my arch even touched the inside of the shoe most of the time. What a waste. I'll stick to my Nicolinis.

    EHH..

These were my second pair of pointe shoes, and I was left just shy of satisfied. I will admit that they are fairly flattering on my wide, low-arched [but strong] feet, and the box fit just like a glove. My only issue was that there was plenty of bagging at the heel. These shoes were also dead in about a week, causing me to fall out of the box during class, and very hard to turn on.

    THEY WORK FOR ME

These shoes are not for everyone. As you can tell by other reviews, you either love them or hate them. Personally, I like them. The key is that you have to really break them in to the point that they seem like they are broken or else they do not look good. For me, they make my feet look very attractive. My Suggestion: Get someone you know who loves them to break them in for you the first time. That's what I did and it made all the difference.

NICE IN THE BEGINNING BAD IN THE END

I thought these shoes were good for the price. But after a few months, I developed bruised toe nails on both of my big toes. I was wearing Ouch Pouch Jr. It also was very hard to demi pointe. The shoes felt cheap.

    PRETTY GOOD

Easy to break in, plus you can use the reinforcing stems to choose the strength of the shank. I have canvas, which Discount Dance doesn't offer. The sizing chart is a little off. I spent a month and a half writing the USA Sansha rep to find the right size. I wear a 6 1/2 to 7 street shoe normal width, and without padding, Sansha suggested an 8W which is close to Discount Dance's suggestion (though the width obviously should have also been suggested), but does not take into consideration the padding you may use. After you add the Eurotard brand (blue) gel pads, Sansha said to kick it up a whole size to a 9W. I always have pain on the top of the big toe and since wearing these, the pain is gone. The right size must matter. The vamp is quite high, which is good for support, but also tend to cause some blistering sometimes on the top of the foot. Also, I have to cinch up the drawstring all the way to make up for the width of the shoe, which digs into the back of my heel. A little moleskin or a heel gripper or tape or calluses might take care of that. The platform is awesome. It takes a little getting used to switching from a different shoe (as would any shoe), but after about 2 hours in them, I like them better than any other shoe I've tried so far.

Great price, I'll say that. At first they worked well, they were comfortable, lasted longer than my usual shoes, quiet, but quite hard to break in. Lately I have had some problems... the box got pretty squished in the first 3 classes and a month later, the shank still isn't really broken in. I don't have a good arch so these shoes are not very flattering to my feet. BUT for me these were really good shoes for long hours on pointe. They lasted about 3-5 months. Previous brands were 2-4 months.

    VERY QUIET AND COMFORTABLE!

I've tried at least four brands and 8 styles of shoes, and these are amazing. I had no idea pointe shoes could be comfortable. I have chronic tendinitis in several tendons of both feet, and these allowed me to continue dancing through long rehearsals. They broke too quickly for my taste and the plastic replacement shanks are awful, but other than that, they are amazing.

    What width should I get?

I have russian pointe shoes now, but they get to be expensive. Im looking for a cheaper alternative. I get a width 4 in my russian shoes. Im wondering if I should get a medium or wide width in these shoes.

If you are normally a width 4 in Russian Pointe, I would recommend getting this shoe is a W width.

Do these shoes come with ribbons?

Do these pointe shoes come with ribbons. If nit whst would you reccomend?

This shoe does come with attached elastics, but the ribbons are not included. We do not sell a ribbon by Sansha, but I would recommend our Grishko ribbon which is style GRIEURW.
    - DDS Customer Service (12/20/2013)

No, they do not come with ribbons, but they do come with elastic. According to a lot of reviews the elastic falls of very quickly so I recommend sewing on a new elastic as well as ribbons. For ribbons I would recommend the Bloch elastic ones, they are very soft and comfortable because of the elastic at your achilles and for elastic I would recommend the gaynor minden invisible one. - Elyn (08/06/2014)

    Will these work for me?

I have wide and flat feet. size 9 street size. I'm a beginner, and my ballet teacher wants me to buy a pair of pointe shoes. Will these work?

The Recital Pointe shoe by Sansha is a good beginner shoe, however we do recommend getting fitted in person for pointe shoes as the sizing information we have is only a suggestion. Please contact Customer Service for additional assistance.
    - DDS Customer Service (10/28/2013)

These pointe shoes have a quite hard shank, so I wouldn't recommend these ones for you. Maybe you could try Grishko 2007, a lot of people really like these pointes and they have a pretty universal fit. They also really work for not very arched feet. - Elyn (08/06/2014)

Will these shoes work for me?

I have wide feet, with normal arches, not super high or low. Im an 8 street shoe. Ive got egyptian feet and my first two toes are close in size.

With the wide tapered box it does sound like it would be a possible fit. However, the recital has a low crown meant for a slightly flatter than average foot. This might be an option for you but without a proper pointe shoe fitting it's unfortunately impossible to tell. We recommend trying these on at a local dancewear store as any (even slight) incorrect fit can risk permanent foot and ankle damage.

Are these shoes work for me?

I have Egyptian feet , the big toe visibly longer than the others. I also have normal arches not to high and not low ,so I wear a 7 in street shoes. I have using bloch aspiration in size 5 and the B box, I have a narrow feet , which box do you recommend in these . And can you tell me if these are going to work for me , Im looking for something confortable and cheap. Thank you so much and if you think these shoes are not for me ,please recommend other brands and models, and it doesn't matter that be expensive.

Unfortunately the way you described your foot seems to be in contradiction to what the Aspiration shoe you are currently wearing is made for. Since you do not know the exact box, vamp, heel or shank, it is extremely difficult to recommend a like shoe. We would love to assist you but our best recommendation is to be fit for new pointe shoes at your local dance store. That way you also won't waste any money trying shoes that are a potentially wrong fit (and that could risk foot and ankle damage).
