How do order your correct shoe?

I already own a pair of "2007" Ballet Pointe Shoe, and the size on the bottom of the shoe is: 6 X SS. There are no options for SS, and I was wondering what "X" means.

The SS is for the super soft shank, the X indicates the width of the shoe.
    - DDS Customer Service (04/04/2014)

Hello, SS just means the hardness of your shank. They come in Super Soft, (hense SS), medium(M) and hard (H). And then the "X" means how wide the box is. One "X" is the narrowest box and 5 "X" being the widest box. I hope that helped! - Kiahjane (05/02/2014)

The x is the width. The SS stands for super soft and it is the shank strength. - Balletgirly (03/15/2016)

Is fitting similar to the Grishko Nova's?

I'm currently wearing Nova's but would like to try the 2007's they are said to be very similar, if I am a size 5 1/2 XXXX Medium shank in my Nova's will the same size in 2007's work?

The sizing on the 2007 pointe shoe is a bit different. With the Nova, you order 2.5 to 3.0 sizes smaller than your street shoe, whereas with the 2007, it is suggested that you order 2.0 to 2.5 sizes smaller.
    - DDS Customer Service (01/24/2014)

Yes I believe so. Grishko's sizing is across the board. My friend used to wear Grishko Nova's, but much prefers their 2007's. I would definitely try them out! - Littleballetdancer (10/22/2015)

How does this shoe compare to the Capezio Tiffany?

My previous pair of shoes were Capezio Tiffanys, but they didn't work out for me. Is this shoe similar to them, and how is it different?

The Tiffany has a wide box, whereas the 2007 is tapered. Their vamp lengths are both short/average. The 2007 has a lower crown than the medium crown on the Tiffany. The 2007 has a 3/4 shank that allows an easier roll through and the box molds easier to the foot, unlike the moderate strength Tiffany.
    - DDS Customer Service (08/05/2013)

Hello, :) My previous pair were also Capezio Tiffanys, but I needed to find a different shoe because it wasn't tapered enough for me, and the narrowest size was still too wide. I have wore them several times now and I LOVE them. The platform may take some time to get used to, but they roll through very nicely and hold me up well. I am really loving it, and I strongly recommend that if you have problems with the Tiffany, that you try the 2007's. I hope this helps :) - Dancer421198 (12/14/2013)

If my feet is street size 6, what size should i buy for these shoes?

The manufacturer recommends sizing down 2 to 2.5 sizes from street shoe. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee sizing and ultimately recommend being fitted (in a store) for any pointe shoes you are considering purchasing. Without a professional fit you run the risk of buying a shoe that is not appropriate for your specific foot and risking injury.
    - DDS Customer Service (05/17/2013)

Probably a 3, 3 1/2, or 4. You probably want to go get a fitting to make sure though. - Angelinaballerinaofbham (08/28/2013)

    I am a true size 6 street shoe in women's and I ordered a size 4. Fits perfectly! - Pnwicedancer (10/18/2013)

    I got a 4 because street size I'm a 6 1/2. Maybe a 4 or 3 1/2? - Dancerballetlovehi (12/31/2013)

    You would most likely be a 3 1/2 or 4. hope this helped :p - Dancerballetlovehi (12/31/2013)

does anyone know what is the shank??? and are they come with the strap on the leg?

The ribbons and elastic are both sold separately from the shoes. The shank refers to the strength of the insert that runs along the inside, bottom of the shoe. The strength of the shank determines the ease in which the shoe is able to be broken in.
    - DDS Customer Service (04/25/2013)

You can choose between super soft, medium, or hard shanks. My daughter breadks in shoes fast so she uses hard shanks for classes and rehearsals and medium shanks for performances. You need to sew elastic and ribbons on yourself and purchase them separately, but it doesn't cost that much extra. - 28green (10/13/2013)

The shank is the part of the shoe that supports your arch, it is reinforced with cardboard, leather, and other materials, and will break down eventually. If by "strap on the leg" you mean ribbons or elastics, then no. they do not come with them. You must buy those on your own, and sew them on on your own (as with any other pointe shoe). - Dancer421198 (12/14/2013)

Does anyone know if the width sizing for the ELITES are the same for the 2007's?

No, the Elites have a wider square box as to where the 2007 are more tapered so the width will vary - Gloriaxxx (04/05/2013)

  • Mia     11/28/2012

    x5?

Does x5 mean XXXXX or x.5? Thanks!

X5 means XXXXX for the width
    - DDS Customer Service (12/04/2012)

first of all Mia this shoe is great! if you don't already have it I think you should buy it!!I!! and the X5 means X.5 hope this helps. And buy the way I am a XX and have a narrow foot. - Dance4jesus (12/19/2012)

XXXXX is how Grishko measures their width. The more Xs, the wider the width. If you have a XXXXX width, tat means your feet would be very wide. - Nycballerina (12/26/2012)

Ya I noticed the x5 too! It comes after X and it comes before XX. I think that DDS made a mistake by putting x5 there. XXXXX can't be a width. Thats way too wide!lol widths only go up to XXXX. - Kittycat (02/05/2013)

Grishko 2007: what does the X in sizing means?

The X in the sizing has to do with the width of the shoe/box X -narrow, XX- Narrow Medium, XXX- Medium, XXXX- Wide, XXXXX- Extra Wide.
    - DDS Customer Service (10/22/2012)

It means the width. X is the most narrow one they have. - Sdabballerina (11/23/2012)

size x is for narrow feet. - Mushruuum (12/05/2012)

The X is how wide or narrow the width is. If you have a size X, you have a narrow width. If you have multiple Xs, you have a wide width. - Nycballerina (12/26/2012)
