I have been wearing this shoe for about two years now, and aside from breaking down quickly, they have worked quite well for me. However, I just ordered a new pair in my usual size and was extremely disappointed. Not only does the new style run wider, but it is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BOX SHAPE. With a performance coming up in a few weeks, and no local suppliers, this leaves me in a really bad position. I'll have to just order them in a narrower size and make it work. Anyways, I am very displeased.

I'm a 13 year old ballerina and I just tried the Capezio contempora...overall, after using them for 3 months, I think that they are pretty average. I like some things about them, and I dislike some things about them. First of all, I have high arches, and these shoes were a pretty big problem for me because I often was "knuckling" or going too far over the box, and I was sinking into the shoe. However, when not "knuckling" these shoes look really good on my feet. The contempora is also known for getting soft in a short period of time.

These are my shoe...the ball of my foot is extra wide (a D in this shoe) but narrow in the toes.... they are easy to break in, but they do die kind of quick, but with some jet glue they work out great! =)

Personally I like these very much. They seem to fit either narrow or wide feet. My friend has very narrow feet and long toes and wears a 5B and I wear a 7D. The only downside is that these shoes are very pink!

KiKi Anne05/03/2009 South Dakota,I WISH...
These shoes are the perfect shape for my feet(short toes, slightly tapered, wide forefoot and narrow heel) I just wish they were stronger. They die really fast. My feet are strong enough that I can still dance on a dead shank, but the box also gets soft rather fast which I got a bruised toenail from :( If they came in a strong shank they'd be perfect.

Brittany06/22/2008NO THANKS
This was my first pointe shoe and it wasn't a very good experience. The shoe is way too stiff and the box isn't good for balancing. You definitely need long toes for this shoe.

This is the best type of pointe shoe on the market. If you have long toes, this is the pointe shoe for you.

I love these pointe shoes! They last long and have great quality! They are AHMAZING for taking class in and they break-in quickly but do not die quickly!

JC01/01/2008WORST SHOE I'VE TRIED
This was my first shoe. I wore a 3D in the beginning, and when I finally switched styles, I was wearing a 4.5 EE (I think). They were comfortable at first, but because my feet are somewhat blocky and wide, they were horrid at the end. Also, the shank could be bent in half once broken on certain pairs. If your foot is even a bit strong, blocky, or wide, consider Glisse Pros.

Anonymous11/12/2007USED TO WEAR THEM, STILL LIKE THEM
This used to be my "go to" shoe before a performance. I have very narrow, very tapered feet with strong high arches. They fit great, broke in easily and quickly (even if I only got them the night before a recital), and flattered my feet nicely. But after the recital, they were done. Not for daily class wear, and definitely not for rigorous rehearsal schedules. But in a pinch, they're a great buy for narrow tapered feet. If DDS sold them in the A width, they'd still be my go to shoe :)

Geralyn11/10/2007 Michigan,
As these were my first pointe shoes, I naturally love em'. They fit me very well. (I have size 8, narrow feet) and I was able to get up on pointe very easy. I dance in them 2 days a week for about an hour each time, and they have held up quite well for someone who is still learning, but they are not the shoe for advanced pointe dancers. They look very flattering on stage, and are a very good training tool for a beginner!

Karen08/31/2007 Illinois,I LOVE IT
I have been in pointe for three years and have used about five pairs so far. four of those five were Contempora. They are very easy to break-in, which was handy when I got a new pair a week before recital. I have a rather big arch, long big toe, and a narrow foot, and Contempra fit just right and supports me. I use them about 2 hours a week and used each pair about three or four months, so they last awhile. Plus they look sooo pretty on my feet. I love 'em!

Lucy03/16/2007 Washington,HORRIBLE SHOE
The Contempora is awful. After only 3 weeks, I noticed the box getting very soft and I was only using them a total of 2 hours a week. But I will admit, they were very flattering to my feet. I don't recommend these for even beginners because they are just awful.

Really comfy to dance in, and gives you good balance and support. I love them and I'll definitely get them again. Get them people.

Tiny Tice12/10/2006 Clayton N.c.,
I own this type of shoe. I myself have a very high arch, but I don't have the strongest of feet, but getting up onto pointe in this shoe has proven to be much easier than my last pair, which was a Glisse. I do recommend this shoe for girls with weak feet, just be careful because I've heard this model of shoes to break easily.

I just started pointe a month ago and these shoes were great for a while. But they died already and I am only on them twice a week for 30 minutes. I do not recommend them for any one with strong feet/ arches.

They looked beautiful on my feet, but broke up too fast... I don't recommend these for high arched feet.

Much better than my first shoe, but not for a dancer with super strong feet- I have a tendancy to roll right over the top of the box. I do love the way they fit and look on my feet though.

For me, I think this shoe is great for turning, but the arch broke too low and the shoe died very, very quickly.

???!
The ES is a stronger version of the Contempora, which a U shaped vamp and a stronger shank. It is also available in wider widths. - DDS Customer Service (06/19/2014)
