This tank leotard by So Danca features a gorgeous sweetheart neckline and pinch front; a classic style that remains popular for its flattering silhouette. Leotard has a shelf lining and a ballet cut leg line.
I bought this leotard for myself and absolutely love it! I am always worried when ordering leotards online since it is hard to judge size, fit etc. Before purchasing this I did some leotard searching in some local dance shops and came to a conclusion that I was an XL (I am 5'7" and relatively thin). With that, it made me pretty confident that I'd fit into an XL - so I ordered it. I ordered the red color and it is absolutely stunning and fits perfectly! I was pleasantly surprised and like it a lot more than the pictures!!
I started ballet again at 31 years old after having a child, and being slightly overweight. This is the 2nd leotard I have owned as an adult and it made my 1st one obsolete! The neckline is very flattering, but can be adjusted for modesty. I don't feel like my 34DD's are going anywhere, and the straps and armholes are modest enough you could wear a bra easily.
I do have to say when I took it out of the package I thought I accidentally received a child's large, but it stretched and fit perfectly. It makes me feel all sucked and tucked in, and I love how I look in it. I think I want it in red next. I also feel comfortable wearing this over tights with no skirt which is a plus. It doesn't ride up, but it doesn't have a "granny panty" leg hole either.
I own this in Navy & Burgundy.
What I like:
COLOR: their navy and burgundy color are both flattering shades,(this brand's navy is not too dark, but not royal blue either; and their burgundy is a flattering shade, not the dull, dried blood that some companies make)
FIT: amazing! as others have noted, the sweetheart neckline is flattering, the straps don't cut into your shoulders or your armpits; it has bra shelf-lining, but not sure if it is supportive enough for those that are more well-endowed.
SIZING: I am nornally a SMALL (5'3 tall & 107 lbs) but I tried this on in a store in both S & M, ended up buying the M. Then ordered another color online and also got M. Difference between the 2 sizes for me? Small was just a tad too snug, so opted to go up 1 size. Not a huge difference except around the hip / leg-hole, next size up more comfortable and did not cut up as high.
FABRIC: nylon is super lightweight and comfy!
Over the years, I have had Capezio, Danskin, Sansha as my go-to for basic, tank or skinny strap leotards, and I have found all 3 to be somewhat tight around the armpits and have a tendency to squeeze your arms or shoulders - thus revealing fat you did not think you had! So I am so glad I discovered So Danca's tank, sweetheart neckline leotard. It's like finally finding that perfect jeans that is your everyday pair.
I just bought this for my first ballet class (I'm in my early 30's) and I love it! I got the black and the small fits perfectly (I'm usually around a size 4 or size 6), so I was taking a chance on the size. I also like how you can adjust the gathering in the front to be as low or as high as you want. The shelf bra is a plus too. Very happy and would gladly purchase this in multiple colors.
This leotard is by far my favorite- I have ordered several brands here at DDS, and have had to send most of them back. The material is soft but durable, and this leotard has a very flattering fit. I have returned to ballet after 25 years, and am 20 lbs. heavier than when I hung up my point shoes all those years ago. This leotard makes me look thinner than I am, making me happy! Also to note is that the pinch pleat is adjustable with a tie, so the front can be made lower or higher- I don't have it as pinched as much in the photo and like that for modesty. The shelf bra lining has a comfortably thin fabric covered elastic, which makes me really happy- I hate those leos with thick, hard elastic shelf lining which usually cut into my skin. I am able to wear this one without a bra too, which is a big plus. The sizing chart is right on. I can't recommend this one enough!
I'm well past the age where I'm comfortable with braless and backless. I really enjoyed wearing this leotard to summer classes, where it was cool and made me feel less out of step with the younger gals. I wish the fabric were just slightly more substantial, but all in all this gets a thumbs-up.
I am 4' 9" tall, and have a 34 inch bust size (34A). Because of my height, I am not sure what size would fit me best, the Petite or the Small. Which one would you recommend?
Based on your bust size, you fit into the Small. However, your height alone is not the factor, it would be the measurement of your girth. If you feel you have a short torso, then perhaps the Petite would be appropriate. Otherwise the small should be fine. - DDS Customer Service (09/03/2015)
