10/02/08 by Val from New Jersey They suck.
Rating: 1 Terrible shoes - I'll never buy from Sansha again. The top of the shoes are way too small, even though I bought them in a "M" width - and my feet are in between narrow and wide. Plus I've only worn them for a few hours all together, and they already look like crap! Ultimate Ballet Shoes = comfortable, beautiful, cruelty-free!
09/30/08 by Dancer from Los Angeles Perfect!
Rating: 5 They came in the mail and they fit perfectly! I looked at the sizing chart and it worked. They also come with a tiny pointe shoe keychain!
09/20/08 by Sabby from California Rating: 5 These shoes are the requirement for the school I go to and there's a reason why...they are amazing!!! I've got them 1 year ago and they are just starting to visibly wear now. And what's great is that you can wash them.
09/12/08 by DancerDebz from California Rating: 2 I bought this for a performance and it rubbed a hole in the big toe after one day of rehearsal and performance. The other girls in my company who bought the same shoe also had the same problem.
08/30/08 by Laur WOW!
Rating: 5 There's only one word for this shoe: AMAZING! I give it 10 stars.
08/30/08 by Lauren Love them!!!
Rating: 5 This is the best shoe!!!! It supports my arch and makes feet look amazing! Only try this shoe if you want your feet to stand out above everyone else's!
08/16/08 by Rachel from California OK ish
Rating: 5 I like these shoes but I did not get a size up so they were pretty tight, (I have wide feet). It made it hard to balance. I personally LOVE the Grishko canvas with elastic, better. I had gone to a 4-week intensive and on week 3, I had forgotten my ballet shoes! I had to get something for my classes and there was a discount dance supply store by there so I got these. They made it through, but I like the other ones better. I have a high arch like what
07/26/08 by Crystallize from Rancho Palos Verdes CA
said, but it didn't help. Because I am so much over my toes, the narrow shoe doesn't help me balance. Don't get me wrong, but you need flat, narrow feet for this shoe.
08/15/08 by Natalie from Chicago, IL Love these
Rating: 5 They are such a great ballet shoe. Mine are super dirty but have lasted for 1 1/2 years, and still going strong. Plus, they make your feet look good. I'm a 7 1/2 by the way, and an 8 fits me just perfect.
08/12/08 by Emily from Florida My favorite!
Rating: 5 I used these shoes all year last year, and I love them! I have very flexible feet, and I felt like I was pointing farther in these than in my leather one sole shoes. They only have small holes on the outside after being used from August to May! They fit perfect, and I would never wear anything else!
08/07/08 by Lady of the Dance Best ballet slipper ever!!!
Rating: 5 I absolutely adore these shoes :) They are very comfortable and durable. I also love them because they flatter my arches quite nicely. I have been dancing for nine years and I have tried countless kinds of ballet slippers. I can safely say that these are the best I have ever worn :)
07/31/08 by Emily from Arizona Don't like these...at all.
Rating: 1 I went to a drama camp where I would dance for about 3 hours a day 5 days a week. My friend gave me a pair of Bloch leather split-sole jazz shoes in the beginning because they were too small for her. I got these shoes for performance only, so I wore the jazz shoes for two weeks. During tech week we were required to wear our performance shoes, and I did not like these at all. They ran a bit small once I tied them, the inside pad bunched up underneath my toes with one day's use so it hurt to jump and land, and the cloth had holes on the outside after two days. I ended up switching back to my practice intended jazz shoes. I DO NOT recommend these. Buy some leather dance shoes!
07/29/08 by Bella from Central Coast My Favorite Shoes
Rating: 5 I used to wear the Juliet Capezio Ballet shoes, and they would wear out so fast. All my friends would have the Sansha ballet slipper, so I decided to give it a try. I had tried my friends on, so I ordered her size, a 5M and it fit perfectly. I ordered them in January, and I wear them for lyrical, jazz, and ballet,12 classes a week, and they still are in very good condition. I do agree that if your studio has black marley flooring, they can get very dirty pretty fast. But I throw them in the wash every once in a while, and they look as good as new. Like I said, I love these shoes, but now since my feet are growing I am going up a size. I'm going to order the black, flesh, and white colors too because these are my favorite ballet shoe of all time. My arch is so-so. It's not that bad, but it isn't very good either. My old juliets made my foot look so bad, and the Sanshas show my true arch, and it looks so pretty. I would recommend these shoes to anyone. I love them!!!
07/29/08 by Julianne from Florida Rating: 5 I've been wearing these for 2 years and they are the best! They last long for me as far as getting the job done. If you don't wear canvas shoes much and expect it to stay spotless as long as a leather, than you shouldn't get it, but as far as that goes, it's no worse than any other canvas shoe. I've tried Bloch, which I usually like, but they didn't look as good on my foot. I don't think you have to have long toes for this shoe. My toes are stubby but the shoe complements that and makes my foot look beautiful. It has great arch support, which I need because I'm a pronator and start hurting if a shoe doesn't. RECOMMENDED(:
07/26/08 by Crystallize from Rancho Palos Verdes CA Did not fit my flat feet
Rating: 3 I ordered 1.5 sizes larger as some previous reviews suggested, but I say just go 1 size up from street size. I wear size 8-1/2 or 9 street and bought size 10. The length fit good, but the ball was too baggy with fabric. I normally have medium width flat feet and the M was too baggy. This shoe would work better for someone with a higher arch.
07/25/08 by Anonymous from New York Not good on my feet
Rating: 2 The nice thing about these, are that you get a pointe shoe keyring and a little Sansha mesh bag to keep the slippers in. Now for the not so great: the canvas is really not durable and looks not that great. These are for people with long toes, probably high arch with narrow foot and not tapered toes. Basically, everything my feet are not. While they fit OK width wise there was so much baggy fabric on my toes because they are tapered (my feet). Plus, I didn't like how minuscule the sole on the ball and heel were. Not enough for my wide feet. Looked awful. If you have wide metatarsal area I like Grishko much better.
07/24/08 by Nikky from Texas Small Sizing
Rating: 3 Shoes look and feel lovely; however, the sizing chart suggested that I get the same shoes size according to my street size and were about a 1/2 size too small.
07/09/08 by Gigi from Fairhope, AL Ahh!
Rating: 5 While these shoes have their pros and cons, I would have to say the pros outweigh the cons more than any other shoe I've tried. I love how the sole is "flush" making these shoes sinfully comfortable and the design is flattering on every foot (most of my ballet friends have worn these too). While I will admit that they wear down quickly, I don't mind since they are inexpensive and have allowed me to feel the floor more than I have ever seen. As far as the dirty appearance, just wash them in the laundry. I do it all the time and they look good as new. And they are better than all the bloch shoes I have tried, which fit like I should have the foot of an elephant and make a lump of my arch.
07/07/08 by Emmie from Racine Rating: 5 I love them! They are my favorite. I have had 4 pair already and keep ordering the same ones because they are so comfortable. Allow me to easily flex and feel the floor. Highly recommend.
07/02/08 by Amanda Lynne from Virginia Beach,VA Ahh-mazz-ing
Rating: 5 I LOVE these shoes!!! They are comfortable, affordable and very easy to dance. They look great on anybody's foot. I love them and I know you will too!
06/27/08 by K.D. from willimantic, CT Beautiful shoe but wears out fast.
Rating: 3 Probably the most comfortable ballet shoe I've ever had. They make even the most awkward feet look beautiful and the canvas lets your foot breathe much better than leather. However, I go through two/three pairs a year because they wear out (holes on toes and interior sole weakens)and get dirty so easily, which I find bizarre since I only use them five or so hours a week. Which is nothing compared to other dancers I know.
06/26/08 by Melissa from Arizona A little lumpy
Rating: 3 Well, I tried these on at the store and they felt great except for the lumps under my toes. Way too uncomfortable to live with...so I didn't get them, but if they fix the lumps I'd love them!
06/22/08 by Tsarina from Massachusetts My fave shoe
Rating: 5 This is an AMAZING shoe!!! I would recommend it to everyone, no matter what kind of foot they have (banana foot or flat, looks GREAT). I have a somewhat low arch and they make my feet look fantastic on demi pointe. Also, teachers love it for some reason; makes you look 'more professional' (?) The back is not too high (I HATE high backs) and I have had these for 2 1/2 years and they keep getting better -- also, very good price. I went to somewhere else and they sold it for 29 bucks -- buy them NOW.
If you have really narrow feet, buy Russian pointe instead and sew them criss cross. One problem is you have to put water on the soles before class, otherwise they're really slippery, or maybe it's my turnout :-P I would recommend this to everybody!!!
06/22/08 by Jessica from New Mexico ok-ish
Rating: 3 I wore these shoes for ever! They fit me great and everything but they are just so constricting to your foot, that it makes it hard to move your foot. Also, when you point, the sole over your toes creates an annoying bubble. They don't mold all too well to your foot and they don't last too long either.
06/15/08 by Bridget from Oklahoma OK
Rating: 3 I have been wearing these shoes for a while and think they are OK. I have a higher arch and whenever I go up, the elastic inside the shoe digs in. I don't know if this is just me, but it HURTS! They also get dirty pretty fast and look ugly. I like the way it makes my arch looks, but beauty does also come with pain!
06/04/08 by Dancin q. Rating: 1 I actually don't own these shoes, but I do know a lot of girls that have them and they don't seem to be a great shoe. They're not very well-made and only flatter very high arches. I go with Grishko's canvas all the way. They're the best, high quality because of their Russian influence. Hope that helped, and keep up the dancing =)
05/22/08 by Laura from Manchester, CT Rating: 5 The whole time that I have had canvas ballet slippers, I had these! They are so comfortable! They really look good on my feet! These are by far the best canvas ballet slippers!
05/13/08 by Cathy from North Carolina Rating: 5 I love these shoes! I have them in black, but I ordered them too small. But they are so comfortable. They are kinda hard to dance on carpet and wood floors.
05/06/08 by MoMo Depends on the flooring
Rating: 5 These are my favorite ballet shoe, by far!
Dancing on Marley flooring is perfect for these shoes. If you are on wood floors, you will be slipping and sliding.
05/03/08 by Gaby from California Ehh
Rating: 2 I don't know if its just me, but when I wore the shoes in class I would slide around WAY too much. The soles are (to me) too small. Aside from that, the shoes are OK doing Barre work and what not.
04/15/08 by Em Rating: 1 When I first tried out this shoe, I felt like I was dancing on a bunch of fabric. This shoe is very cheap and that explains the quality.
04/15/08 by Anonymous Rating: 5 I love this type of shoe because it shows your true arch.
04/12/08 by Andrea from Sacramento, CA Best ones I've had!
Rating: 5 I used to have leather ballet slippers. I switched to canvas and these are my first. They are the best so far! My feet can breathe. When I used leather, my feet were so constricted, not enough airflow to the inside of the shoes. These breathe perfectly! I have one in black, I'm getting another one in pink.
03/28/08 by Anonymous Rating: 5 These are my favorite slippers! I got them in N because my feet are a little narrow, and they fit great. I've gotten compliments on them and they make my feet look good.
03/24/08 by Anonymous Pretty good
Rating: 5 These are the best canvas shoes I've tried in a long time. I have larger feet (size 9 in street shoes) and very wide feet and I had to order a couple times to find my size. Now I wear a 10W and might feel small at first but after you break them in they really become a second skin. They last for a long time compared to most canvas. My last pair lasted for about 8 months and I used them for about 8 hrs a week. Make sure to wash them and take care of them if you want them to last that long. Besides, they're so cheap that you can buy replacement pairs without too much fuss.
03/22/08 by DancerGirl from Washington Not worth the cost...
Rating: 3 I had to wear these shoes for a production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and they wore out in a week! They're comfortable to wear, but had to be replaced half way through the run. Spend a little bit more and get a better pair of shoes.
03/22/08 by Stephanie Small
Rating: 4 I bought one size larger than my street shoe and they are still are pretty tight. I wear an 8 shoe and bought the 9 slipper. The shoe is nice in construction.
03/13/08 by Larissa Not too bad
Rating: 3 I would not say that these are really that bad but they don't seem to suit me very well. They are of decent quality for such a low price but the fitting is difficult; not for small narrow feet with tapered toes like mine. The canvas is comfortable and the arch is wonderful but even the narrow width is not really narrow and is too wide for me, particularly at the heel and around the toes, so it bunches and is not flattering for my feet.
I got these because I needed black slippers and I trust Sansha but I would not wear them for performance again - but I wear them for some simple practices at home and they're fine for that.
03/09/08 by Kristen from California Good shoes
Rating: 4 I've had 3 pairs of these shoes and they're really good shoes! They form to the foot well and are great for turning IN THE BEGINNING. The only major set back is the heel is thick and a bit painful at times because it pokes at your heel, and after they're worn they're extremely hard to turn on. I was falling all over the place on my pirouettes 'cause they stuck to the floor. Now I'm trying the Capezio cobras and I'm hoping to get a better result. But other than that, they last long and are flattering to the foot.
03/01/08 by Stacey Half Sizes Please!
Rating: 3 I love the color of these shoes and they are very flattering on all types of feet, but I gave them 3 stars because they don't come in half sizes :\
02/19/08 by Dorothy from Columbus, OH Rating: 4 I love these shoes. My feet look great and they are so easy to pointe in. I love being able to adjust the elastic. One thing I would say is: sew the elastic, take a class, and adjust from there. They fit so much better that way.
02/16/08 by Alexa from Southern California Great shoes!
Rating: 5 I really liked this shoe! They're super easy to pointe in and they weren't that expensive! I would definitely recommend it to my friend. The thing I like about canvas is that they're washable and very stretchy. Overall, a great product!!!
02/11/08 by Jess from New York An instant favorite
Rating: 5 OK, is anyone here familiar with that painting of a dancer's feet in 5th position, and her shoes are falling apart and duct taped together? Yeah, my old shoes looked just like that. I used to wear full sole leather shoes, and the sole was constantly coming apart from the shoe. I tend to wear my shoes until they're dead, and then keep wearing them awhile longer. So I was holding my shoes together with tape for awhile. I've never had that problem with these. They last a long time for a canvas shoe. They're flexible and comfortable, are pretty flattering, and the fact that they come in wide width is a huge plus for me. Yeah, they get dirty pretty fast, but hey, at this price you can always get a pair for class/rehearsal and a pair for performances. I will definitely be buying these again and again.
02/11/08 by Amy Rating: 5 These shoes worked great for me. I loved these shoes but they wore out really fast. While I was using them regularly, they worked great but they soon got holes in the toes. They were extremely easy to break-in and made your feet look pretty while dancing.
01/27/08 by Pinkelephant414 from Kentucky Rating: 2 If Sansha made these in half sizes then these would totally be my favorite ballet shoes. I wear a 7 1/2 street shoe and the 7 in Sanshas is too small, while the 8 is too big :\
01/23/08 by Cordelia from New York City Okay
Rating: 2 I had to get two pairs of these for a performance, and I was really glad I only had to wear them a few times. They bunch a lot when you point your feet. On the upside, they're extremely easy to break-in.
01/17/08 by Anonymous 4 stars....but close 5! Great shoes
Rating: 4 These shoes are required for my dance company, and after dancing in single sole leather slippers for years, I was relieved when we HAD to get these. They do, however, run small and take a few weeks to get used to because they don't stretch very easily, but this could just be my giant awkward feet! They seemed to work fine for the other dancers.
12/29/07 by Kels from Merritt Island, FL These are great
Rating: 5 These are the best. They don't fit very long though but you can do everything with them and especially for the price--it's a great deal. I say get themm you won't regret it.
12/15/07 by Molly Wonderful
Rating: 5 I've been wearing these shoes for years. I get the same general size and it hugs my foot perfectly. They make your arch look great and they're very comfortable. Overall, a GREAT slipper (especially for the price).
12/06/07 by Hannah from California Nice
Rating: 4 I purchased these shoes because I wanted some in black canvas. They fit well enough, except that I should not have ordered a medium width. They are too wide and all around just baggy. Different parts of the shoe hurt my foot, which I never had a problem with in other shoes by Bloch. They seem to be bunched up quite a bit.
11/29/07 by Laura My favorite shoes ever...
Rating: 4 I love these shoes! They are comfortable, and they fit my feet really well - even though I do not have a high arch, they make my pointe look so pretty! Obviously, because they are canvas, they show wear more quickly than leather, but have worn them several years on tour and one pair gets me through a week's tour - even with warming up and sometimes performing on carpet.
11/27/07 by Anonymous Rating: 5 It's really a comfortable shoe, the first one I've found to actually flatter the foot and not skimp on practicality.
11/22/07 by Anonymous Good
Rating: 4 These shoes make me feel unbalanced. But they're comfy like socks.
11/13/07 by Anna from Virginia Not so good
Rating: 2 The leather sole on the ball of shoe is too thick. It makes it pretty hard to balance on 3/4 releve.
11/12/07 by Megan Nice.
Rating: 5 I love these shoes! They make your arch look great and are really comfortable.
10/29/07 by Gabby from New Orleans, LA Cool
Rating: 5 These shoes are absolutely FABULOUS! I've been wearing them since like 5th grade and I love them. They make my arch look so good and they're extremely comfortable! I recommend these for anyone with a high arch!
10/21/07 by K.K. Rating: 5 These shoes are fabulous! They fit so well! I don't know what you mean, they fall a part. I have had mine for about 5 months now and they are in perfect condition. They get dirty but hello, have any of you seen a cloth shoe that doesn't get dirty? I mean for the first week or so they are pretty clean but other than that, they always get dirty. They fit great. It is a great price for a ballet shoe. PERFECT ballet shoe.
09/27/07 by Anonymous Rating: 2 I wasn't very happy with these shoes. There was so much material under the toes and ball of the foot, it looks all bunched up and not very pretty. Overall, I didn't really like the fit, but I thought they lasted a decent amount of time.
08/15/07 by Brittany from California Highly recommended
Rating: 5 I absolutely love these shoes!!! They are very comfortable (I even wear them around the house sometimes). They make my point look amazing! They do tend to cling to my tights though. They also bunch up in the arch. (I did order them a little small though, so that could be part of the problem.) Other than that, I love them!!!
08/14/07 by Kendra from Nebraska Tapered Feet
Rating: 3 I really do like these shoes but I wouldn't suggest buying them if you have tapered feet or a low instep. They bunch up so badly, they can even interfere with turn out. They almost feel like foot diapers. If you have perfect feet, go for it. If not, I would advise you to pick something different.
08/12/07 by Kdixon from Pensacola, FL Great Shoe
Rating: 5 As a dance major in college, I had these the entire time. They fit so comfortably, and they are canvas, so get over the dirty issue. They wash to look brand new. And this is after at least six hours of ballet a week. Great shoes, never stick, especially on marley floors.
08/05/07 by Chloe They're Awesome
Rating: 5 I love these ballet slippers. They don't give me any problems. They just get dirty really fast but what canvas ballet slipper doesn't?
07/14/07 by Anonymous from Houston, TX Rating: 5 Very comfortable; good shape to the foot while dancing.
07/11/07 by Disgruntled dancer Good for cheap shoes, but not best
Rating: 3 For $13, they are a decent deal. Not good for tapered feet at all - leaves way too much material to bunch up. Certainly not the most flattering and I have a very high arch, so it usually doesn't take much to show it off. Drawstrings tend to come undone no matter how tight you tie them (I sew mine together now), and even the N width isn't that narrow. The pink color washes/fades to a beautiful shade that matches well with almost any brand of tights. They do get dirty easily and are tough to clean. I find that only Spray-n-Wash Dual Power can get them looking clean and pretty again. Still prefer Grishko and Russian Pointe.
07/11/07 by Heather from Minnesota Nice shoe depending on floor
Rating: 4 I'm sad they no longer have the dark pink color - it was a great match with Freed ribbon. Nice shoe, fits well, but falls apart very quickly on wooden floors.
The free tights are wonderful tights. I will probably purchase them next time I need seamless tights.
07/07/07 by JC Love them
Rating: 5 I love these because they flatter my wide feet, and they mold to my feet well. Yes, they do get dirty fast, but I have worn them for months, and they have not fallen apart. My last pair only fell apart when I had to warm up on carpet.
07/06/07 by Anonymous Rating: 5 These are pretty good. They just seemed to fit a little funny . . . the arch just didn't feel very comfortable. I wore them just four or five times for a performance, so I can't say if they wear out quickly. But when we dyed them, they all developed strange lumps in the toes. They're OK, but probably not the best.
06/25/07 by Anonymous Rating: 5 These shoes are great. I dance ballet about 8 hours a week, and these have lasted four months so far, and are perfect for competition and recital. No matter what floor you're on, the grip the shoe has on the floor seems to remain the same. They haven't worn out yet like other reviewers said. Maybe they use them more often than I do. They really mold to your feet and look flattering on any foot type. Besides, they're so cheap, it's not a big deal to buy new ones.
06/23/07 by Michelle from California Great Fit Hugs Arch
Rating: 5 These are a great fitting shoe. Very similar to the Capezio Cobra, but less leather under the tips of toes and slightly thicker canvas. Still very soft (both of these models of shoe have canvas that is maybe "too" soft), comfy, but not long-lasting).
Get these wet and wear them around with socks over them until they dry, and they will shrink-to-fit your feet PERFECTLY, no matter which of your toes is longer or what shape they are.
Nice color, matches tights well. You might want to buy your own elastic; if you like wide, the GM pale peach matches Sansha Lt Pink.
Still prefer Freed's Top Spin to ANY canvas shoe, because the canvas is smooth, not soft, BUT Sanshas are half the price and available Everywhere, so they are always in the dance bag. And when they throw in a pair of tights, that makes these shoes practically free! What's not to love?
06/20/07 by Anonymous Rating: 5 These run a little small, but as far as quality goes, these are amazing. They look great on and compliment any style of foot. They're easy to turn in but still provide friction and they really mold to your feet and end up feeling like a second skin. They get dirty easily but it's not that visible on stage, and I dance in them about eight hours a week and they don't wear out if you take care of them.
06/17/07 by Anonymous Okay
Rating: 3 I've had two pairs of these shoes and they got dirty easily, and the heel felt like it was digging into my heel the first few times I wore them. But I would still recommend them, they look good on and fit well.
06/09/07 by Anonymous Disposable shoes?
Rating: 3 These are a very comfy and pretty shoe. Only problem is, they fell apart after 5 wearings. If you want a nice clean shoe for a performance, go for it, but don't expect these to last very long. All the posts about washing them are irrelevant, because they won't last long enough to wash. I'll probably try these in the leather, because the fit is very good.
05/29/07 by Anonymous Rating: 5 These are very comfortable. I got them just before the recital and they helped my turns. Love them!
05/29/07 by Raven from California Inaccurate sizing
Rating: 2 I'm usually a 7 1/2, so I bought a size 8 narrow, like the other users suggested, but it was still too short for my feet, and too wide. Their sizing is not very accurate. So if you've never had these shoes before, don't buy them unless you've tried them on.
05/28/07 by Returning dancer from Ohio Great value for the price
Rating: 5 I just switched to these after Grishko and Russian Pointe both raised the prices on their flats. They fit comfortably, show off the feet decently well (RP is still best) and the color is pretty while it lasts. I got the light/ballet pink and it matches well with tights. They do get dirty very very quickly, but I'm told they wash up well. I was about to get the deal with the two pointe shoe key rings and a free pair of tights - all for $12! You can't beat that value. And the free tights were comfortable and pretty too. I'd definitely buy these again, although admittedly I'd still be sticking with the Russian Pointe Andantes if they were cheaper and easier to come by.
05/15/07 by Anonymous Rating: 4 I like these shoes. They are very comfortable. But I don't think they show off anyone's feet very nicely; they tend to bulge under the toe/ball of the foot.
05/15/07 by Sara from Seattle, WA Long time favorite!!!
Rating: 5 I have worn these shoes for years and years. They fit well, look nice and you can just throw them in the wash when you need. They do shrink a tiny bit when I do, but I just buy a half size up. I love them!!!
05/14/07 by Olivia from California Rating: 5 I used these shoes for years and loved them. I no longer use them but they are a great shoe and I would recommend them to anyone.
05/13/07 by Katie from Virginia Not so great
Rating: 2 My friend has a pair of these. They do stretch easier than leather ballet slippers. However, the elastics don't stay on, the drawstring comes out, they don't give her much support, and the white ones especially get very dirty.
04/29/07 by Em Okay
Rating: 3 They are okay. They don't look particularly nice on my feet and aren't the most comfortable, but they are a good buy and stay relatively clean.
03/27/07 by Mariah Stefens from New York AWWESOME
Rating: 5 These are the best-erest, most comfy shoes ever. I have a hard time finding shoes wide enough for my feet and so I got an 8W and they fit and show my pointed toe the way it's supposed to look!!!
03/09/07 by Anonymous OK....
Rating: 4 These ended up being a little small, so I gave them to a friend. I didn't think they were the best quality either, but for the price, I'd say go for it.
03/01/07 by California dancer Ah-mazing
Rating: 5 I love these shoes, I have them in pink canvas. I used to have Bloch canvas shoes, however, I did not like them. Then I had Capezio canvas shoes. I loved them, however, felt they were a little thin after I tried on my friend's Sanshas. The S1C canvas, flat, ballet shoes, fit very well and look amazing on your feet. XOXO!
02/24/07 by Rachel from Miami, FL Bought them in white
Rating: 5 Buying these canvas slippers in white may not have been the best idea, but I don't regret it at all! They're unique and look very pretty on. If you are a size 7.5 street size like me, then definitely get an 8 - these slippers shrink in the washer. However, they are very comfortable and being my first pair of canvas slippers, (I've always stuck to leather) I was very pleased. I was skeptical about the arch, but it seems everyone else was right and they make your arch look beautiful. I recommend them, especially at this price.
02/17/07 by Amanda from West Virginia Fantastic!
Rating: 4 I own a pair of these wonderful shoes in black. I really love them. They are super comfortable and help keep my feet from the floors. They are really good for turning and such. Plus, they don't really cause problems.
02/03/07 by Laura from New Brunswick, Canada Rating: 4 I've been wearing my size 8N Sanshas for about 6 months now and I can honestly say I really like them. They fit nicely and I was quite happy about that since I have a difficult time finding shoes that fit right. I use them about 5 times a week and they've held up well! Minor wearing but no holes at all. I've had a bit of trouble with the extra elastic but it hasn't been a big deal at all. Great price for this great shoe!
01/28/07 by Cara Rating: 5 I love these shoes. We are required to have shoes like these and I really like them. The only thing I don't like is the elastic string comes out very easily.
01/20/07 by Wendy from Newton, MA Great shoes, but be a fair consumer...
Rating: 5 My son, who's a dancer, swears by these shoes - they're great. However, I'm disturbed by a few of the comments made here about getting fitted at a shop and then ordering online. I'm not a shop owner of any kind and love to buy stuff online, but the dance shops I've visited all seem to be independent, often small, businesses. They are well aware that the merchandise can be obtained less expensively online, and work hard to provide the element that you can't get on the Internet - a professional fitting. If we rely on these shops for fittings but don't compensate them for their service by buying the shoes, we are hurting them and, eventually, will drive them out of business. And we need them, right? So at least support this needed small business by buying the pair that fits from the shop that helped you find them. If you want to buy additional pairs online to save money, fine (I know I've done that), but think about what you're doing. Hardly anyone ever got rich being either a dancer OR a dance shop owner, so why shouldn't these two groups, who both need each other, support each other?
01/18/07 by Ashley My favorite shoe
Rating: 5 These are really some wonderful shoes. I've been dancing for 11 years, and have always been a fan of canvas over leather... But these are by far the best canvas ballet shoes I have ever had. They are quite durable, lasting weeks longer than other brands. They also truly enhance the foot, and do not bunch up under the toes. Thank you Sansha!
01/17/07 by Katalac64 from Florida GOOD SHOE
Rating: 4 These canvas shoes are very comfy. I wear them for class and they feel very light on your feet.
01/14/07 by Rebecca from Tucson, AZ Nice Surprise
Rating: 4 These were the first (and only) canvas ballet slipper I had ever tried, and I loved them! They hug your feet and are very comfortable. It's also nice to be able to wash them to keep them looking new. The only downfall is that they don't last as long as leather slippers...mine have holes in the tips. However, that is true of all canvas vs. leather shoes. If canvas isn't for you, try the leather version of this shoe...they fit just as great!
01/08/07 by Amelia Brown from Ohio One of the best
Rating: 5 I've been dancing for 25 years, so I've tried just about every ballet flat on the market. These are simply some of the best. They're so comfortable, remarkably durable, and come in a much wider range of colors than any other flat. I either wear these or Grishkos. They fit 100x better than anything by Bloch or Capezio.
01/06/07 by Alexandra Castro from Houston, TX Rating: 5 I love these shoes! The color is just right, and my arch is enhanced when I wear them. Very comfortable. I recommend them to everyone out there, plus the price can't be beat.
01/05/07 by May May Nice after a good break in
Rating: 4 I have had these shoes for a while and they get better with time. They stretch width wise after a while, which is good for me. They really do become like a glove. BEWARE: they shrink a little after washing so let them DRY ON YOUR FEET!
12/18/06 by Superdancer1992 from Littleton CO Rating: 4 I love these shoes! They look really nice on my feet and give them a great line! They last quite a while and don't look bulky or bulgy. My favorite shoes!
11/26/06 by Anonymous Rating: 5 Amazing canvas, I am extremely impressed. There is even extra pleating around the big toe! It hugs my foot perfectly and that is what I look for with any canvas, that hug.
11/21/06 by Renee from Brooklyn, NY Rating: 5 LOVE these shoes!!! They really make your feet look pretty when you pointe :) The only thing I recommend is that if you are a true half size, then get the next size up(true 5.5 buy a 6).
11/12/06 by MTshoegirl from Montana Great
Rating: 5 I love these shoes! I own three pairs of them and go through them like crazy. They're cheap and comfy. Overall, these shoes were great!
11/05/06 by dancer_101 Great shoes
Rating: 5 When I first got these shoes, I thought they wouldn't work well with my feet, but they turned out GREAT. I luv them.
10/16/06 by Ms. Kim L. from Salt Lake City, UT Wooohoo!
Rating: 5 I have been wearing Sansha for 11 years now, and I am a forever fan. I will tell you that if you have very wide feet, to go get fitted at your nearest dance supply first and then order via mail. My feet have had injuries and I had to wear the Sansha Pro 1 leather. Your feet can change from year to year and so, you should get fitted on occasion. What I do is get fitted (I don't buy them at the shop) and then I order 2 pairs at a time to save money. 10/14/06 by Anonymous Best with small modification
Rating: 5 I love these shoes, they hug my high arches beautifully, breathe well, the seamless bottoms are fantastic and last long for being canvas. However, I always cut away the gathered fabric on the inside under the ball of the foot, which is otherwise painful.
10/06/06 by Anonymous from California Rating: 4 I'm very disappointed at the previous comments made about this shoe, and all dance shoes in general. It is truly apparent that all dancers' feet are built differently. I suggest trying on the shoes in a store, then ordering them online once you've found the pair that's right for you.
10/03/06 by Robyn from Washington, DC Best shoes ever
Rating: 5 I wear these in a 7M and the ballet pink color is pretty, not too dark. All the girls in my studio wear these and they make my arch look real pretty when I pointe. I think these slippers are awesome!!
10/03/06 by Renee from New York NY Great Shoes
Rating: 5 I LOVE these shoes. They are comfortable and they fit great. I am just returning to dance and I bought these shoes as a starter pair. Sansha has their own sizes so make sure you order right.
09/27/06 by Eliza Super Shoes
Rating: 5 These shoes are the best. They are ultra comfortable and really mold to your foot for a perfect, almost customized fit. After wearing these, I'm never going back to another type of shoe.
09/26/06 by Kat from Akron,OH Best Shoes!
Rating: 5 These shoes are great! I've been using them for years. I have used Capezio and Julietes, but I definitely like these ones better. They look great on my feet and are very comfortable.
09/19/06 by Inalein from Minnesota Rating: 5 I love my Sanshas. I've been wearing them for something like 8 years and, even though they're canvas, I don't go through nearly as many pairs as I did when I used leather. I really like the way they fit and that I can throw them in the washer when they get super dirty. You should seriously give them a try!
09/17/06 by sticksnstones from Yreka CA Awesome shoes, BUT!!!
Rating: 3 These shoes were so comfortable. I go through ballet shoes so quickly. These shoes lasted me about 2 weeks. I was wearing a Capezio leather split sole and they got toO small so I ordered them so I would have a ballet shoe for my ballet recital. I practiced in them for about 2 weeks and then the recital came and the inside fell all apart and they started ripping and I was doomed. Luckily I made it through. I love my current shoes but you would have to ask your studio because they only sell to studios. They are the brand Revolution, but don't get the stretch ballet.
09/17/06 by Julia a.k.a theatre geek from New York Rating: 5 When I first bought these slippers, it was a hard fit, but I love them. They also last a while. During dance class, they are really comfortable and I would recommend them to anyone.
09/01/06 by Marzipan Weird
Rating: 1 There's just something about these shoes that I can't work in. They fit a little weird. They're slippery, and somehow that keeps me from turning. I've worn them for class maybe twice. Otherwise I keep them for when I'm not dancing but need a clean shoe. Painful. Yuck.
09/01/06 by BO Rating: 5 I love these ballet shoes so much. It's all I buy.
08/31/06 by Sherlet from Marshfeild MA Rating: 5 These shoes were my first kind of ballet shoe and I loved them. It's the only kind of ballet shoe that I wear -most of the time. I had to wear Bloch leather for one year. I missed Sanshas.
08/30/06 by Trina from Boston, MA Not A Fan
Rating: 2 They're very bunchy on the bottom, didn't find them to be comfortable at all. I wouldn't recommend them, sorry.
08/30/06 by Liz from Massachusetts Rating: 5 These shoes rock! I have had them for almost 2 years now, and they fit and perform really well. They have lasted through 3 classes a week for a year, Nutcracker performances and rehearsals, and Coppelia performances and rehearsals. I ordered a pair from here last Fall and then ordered another pair to be dyed for mouse shoes. Even after dyeing, they were still as comfortable as my non-dyed ones and the pink ones are just starting to wear out now.
08/28/06 by LadyBugg Hooray!
Rating: 5 These are the best shoes!!! They fit nicely, and are comfy, and I just love them! I have never gotten blisters, or any other problem in them. The only problem is that they stain quickly with dirt.
08/27/06 by Lauren from Philadelphia Great!!!
Rating: 5 I had been using leather for 9 years, then I got these because i had seen some other people with canvas and they looked so comfortable. When I got them I was amazed how they were so comfortable!! Plus, they make your point look A LOT better! Out of all the canvas shoes I think these are the best. I highly recommend them!!
08/24/06 by Laura from Oregon Rating: 4 I like these shoes a lot!
At first I didn't know about the narrow though, so they were too baggy, and the fabric would bunch at the ball of my foot, so I didn't like them. I also tried Cobras and Juliets, but I came back to these shoes when I found out about the narrow. I really like them now, and I think that they make my feet look nice, no bunches.
08/20/06 by Anonymous Rating: 1 I hate these shoes! The pleat part of it was so bumpy they gave me metatarsal bursitis, and I was off for a LONG time. Don't get these if you don't want to be injured.
08/20/06 by Ballet mom Good cushioning
Rating: 4 I got these for my daughter when she was working through an injury (bone bruise on ball of foot). The extra cushioning in these was a godsend. She did complain a little while becoming accustomed to the padding. The narrow sizes are also a big plus.
08/19/06 by CGirl from Chicago Rating: 3 I have worn Sanshas for about four years, and was somewhat happy with them. I definitely liked them more than leather, because your feet could breath and feel the floor easier. My main complaint about these is that the material gets very bunchy at the ball of the foot, which makes it not as easy to use the floor and articulate your feet/toes, due to so much extra material placed in that area. Because of that reason, I switched to Capezio Cobra canvas ballet shoes. So far, I have been much happier with those. Also with Sanshas, they tend to swallow your feet a little, which does not show off your arch, and can make your feet look a lot worse than they actually are. They also get holes in them quite quick, but overall I think they are a fairly good shoe (but I think it just depends on your likings).
08/16/06 by MotoDancer from California Awesome product
Rating: 5 I LOVE these shoes. I have had canvas shoes in the past that were SO uncomfortable, but these are AWESOME!!! They wear really well and look really nice. At such a good price too! Definitely invest in these!!!
08/12/06 by Jolee from North Carolina Rating: 5 I have really wide feet and these shoes fit so perfectly. I love love love them and would never wear any others!
08/12/06 by Eden SUPER
Rating: 5 These are the best ballet shoes that I have ever owned. They fit snugly, but they're not too tight, and I LOVE the way they look.
08/10/06 by Hannah from RL Okay...
Rating: 3 I really do like these shoes, but I'd rather have a tighter fit. For me, they tend to be slightly baggy, even though I bought the narrow size. They also get holey very fast. If I'm on stage for a few dances, they get all torn up. My last pair had holes all the way through. However, they are very comfortable and easy to dance in =)
07/20/06 by Sam Crosby-Bouwhuis from Brockville, Ontario Sah-weet!
Rating: 5 We have been using these shoes at various studios over the past 10 years, and most students love them. Parents love the price! I appreciate their softness, breathability and cushioning. I would recommend these shoes to ANY and ALL dancers, whether beginner or advanced!
07/15/06 by Kellye from Birmingham, AL Rating: 5 This is an excellent quality ballet class shoe. Since it is canvas, it washes nicely in the washing machine. I then pull it back into shape and dry flat on top of the dryer. We have been using this shoe for my daughters for several years now, ordering the next progressive size each fall as their foot grows.
07/12/06 by Jessica from New York, NY Rating: 4 These shoes held up for about 6 or 7 months before the holes started to become a problem. I love these shoes and the price. They are so cheap compared to leather and pointe shoes.
07/05/06 by Carly Rating: 5 The only kind I will use. Hold up well, accentuate the beauty of any shape of foot...nothing to complain of!
06/30/06 by Anonymous LOVE THEM!!
Rating: 5 Hate leather! Always did! So when I went to order a new pair of shoes, I went with these. Hasn't changed for over 6 years! Some people with very high arches might not like them and prefer leather, but I love them. I have fairy nice feet, and these show them to my advantage, by forming to them. They also last FOREVER, even when I'm working them like you wouldn't believe!
06/27/06 by Awiddy from Portland, OR Works for me
Rating: 5 I've tried four other brands of canvas shoes and these are by far my favorite. They form to my feet nicely, show off my arch and last a long time because the canvas is thicker than some other brands. I have small, narrow feet (4N) so if anyone else out there has small feet...try this shoe.
06/11/06 by Anonymous from California The best!
Rating: 5 I love these shoes!! ALL the girls wear these at the studio I go to. Very comfortable and I think they make my own and everyone else's feet look great. For me, they fit very well in the arch( I have a high arch) and I have no lumps anywhere. I am a size 7 1/2 med width. Not sure if I will ever try anything else! The pink is a perfect pink (not too bright).
06/08/06 by Emma from Kamuela, HI Comfortable but UGLY on my feet!!
Rating: 3 These are much better than any leather ballet slippers I have ever had. They are affordable and very comfortable, but very ugly and wide on my feet. I get lumps when I point, so it looks like I am not fully pointing my foot. It might be better for people with wider feet though.
06/06/06 by Anonymous Very Comfortable and Light
Rating: 4 These shoes are very comfortable and easy to wash. The arch isn't completely form-fitting, but I have worn this shoe for a while and will continue to recommend it.
06/04/06 by Ca from California Rating: 5 I started wearing Sanshas eight years ago, and I've never bought any other kind of ballet shoe after them. Everyone at my studio wears them, because they are comfortable and look a whole lot better than leather shoes. Definitely recommend these to anyone.
05/27/06 by Kristina from Seattle, WA I LOVE CANVAS SHOES!!!
Rating: 5 I used to buy leather shoes & granted, they last longer, they were not as comfortable and did not look as good. I haven't gone back since. I am sticking with these shoes. The leather styles I had to stretch out and then, I still didn't like the fit. I like the cross elastics, as well. The pink color is nice, too. I am pleased with these! I like mine worn in a bit. I haven't had problems with them getting weird or bunching and I am particular.
05/23/06 by Melody from Las Vegas, NV Rating: 4 These have lasted a pretty long time for me. I also support cutting out the insoles, but the bunching inside the shoes didn't become a problem until I was taking two classes a day in them. At the beginning of the shoes' life, I had no problems.
05/18/06 by Amy Best.
Rating: 5 I don't know why anyone would say anything bad about these. Ok, maybe they wear out KIND of quickly, but all canvas ones do, and canvas looks better than leather, and they're TWELVE BUCKS so you can't complain. They're the only slippers I wear because they're the only ones that don't give me a weird lump under my foot. In conclusion: I know very few advanced or professional dancers who don't wear these shoes, and if they wear something else, it's because they get a discount.
05/16/06 by Kay Yay
Rating: 5 I love these shoes! These are the brand I always buy. Out of all the canvas slippers I've used, I definitely like these the best.
05/14/06 by Giselle Rating: 1 I was really disappointed with these shoes. I tried them out for the first time and they had awful lumps on the ball of the foot. Nothing I did helped at all.
I do not recommend these slippers.
05/13/06 by Ashwa Awesome
Rating: 5 This shoe is awesome. I have had the same pair for about 5 months now and they are still completely comfortable. I love the way they feel and how they don't squish and squeeze your toes like leather does. Canvas is also great to air out your feet when it's really hot. And it is so much easier to pointe your feet! I love these shoes!
05/02/06 by Kels from Pennsylvania Not bad, for a canvas shoe
Rating: 3 These are nice shoes but they wear out quickly.
04/27/06 by Ebba Rating: 4 I love my Sansha Pro's! They don't wear out that quickly for me, but I have noticed that lumpiness when you pointe. I just cut the extra bits past the seam on the insoles. Besides that, I highly recommend these shoes!
04/23/06 by Anonymous Rating: 5 looooove this shoe!
04/20/06 by Peter from California Rating: 4 These shoes are much better than leather. They form to fit comfortably and are great for balancing and turning. The insole tends to curl under the toes causing >discomfort< unless you cut the insole out. These shoes also wear out quickly depending on how much you use them but are still great soft shoes.
04/15/06 by Garrett from Orlando, FL Mediocre
Rating: 2 I used to use this shoe, but the problem is that you can wear through this shoe very quickly, and the fabric often produces lumps of fabric below the pad of your foot, when you point.
04/13/06 by Anonymous from Texas Bad Shoes
Rating: 1 These shoes wear out way too quickly. Also, they have lumps right on the balance point, which is really uncomfortable. I know these shoes are inexpensive, but for a few dollars more, you can get better, longer lasting shoes.
04/04/06 by Piper Love
Rating: 4 I love these shoes. They are very comfortable, easy to break in, and affordable. I love these!
03/31/06 by Anonymous Amazing shoes, I'm in love!
Rating: 5 All the young dancers at the studio are required to wear leather but I can finally wear these!
03/26/06 by Anonymous from New York Original Canvas Ballet Slipper
