Loved at first, then not so much
Rating: 3
I loved these shoes at first. The flush sole never catches on the floor, so that's a nice feeling. My issue is with the heel sole. The heel sole is really far forward on me heel and it feels really awkward and uncomfortable. I have only used them for 2 days so far, so maybe it's just something I will have to get used to. At first I thought I was imagining it, but the display picture has a funny sole too. Besides the sole issue, they seem to be great shoes. I am having issues with the elastic hurting the top of my foot, but my last pair of shoes were the Bloch pro-elastic.

I love this shoe! It fits everyone's foot just the way they need it to and it is easy to wash without shrinking. Great!

Comfortable
Rating: 5
Nice and very comfortable. Got them for dance at my school and they are nice but it is probably just the way I dance. They hold up well I guess cause I wore them almost 5 days every week in about 4 months. They have holes in them but over all good shoe.

Way too small, back to Capezio's
Rating: 2
I am usually a 9 or 9.5 in street shoe, and this chart said to order a 9 or a 10. I figured I'd go with the size up and order a 10 just in case. I got them and they are EXTREMELY too small. I would need like an 11 or 12 for these to fit correctly. And, they are much bulkier and heavier than the Capezio's I'm used to. I just ordered them because they were cheaper than the others, but I'm returning and getting a different brand. I'm not sure how they are to dance in, but order AT LEAST 1 or 2 sizes up!!!

Not proper fitting guide
Rating: 2
It said to order a 9-10 if you have a size 9 street shoe. I ordered the ten and they were completely too small and now I have to return them which is a really big pain. And I don't really love the material it's not as canvasy as my old shoes, it's more of a poly-thing and they don't really look professional.

I LOVEEE THESE!!!
Rating: 5
I loved these shoes. They were my first pair of canvas after dancing for 4 years in leathers! Though these shoes get ripped up pretty fast if you are on carpet! But still I love my Sanshas! I have owned 7 pairs of them! AH-MAZE-ING!!!

Holes, Rips and Dirt!
Rating: 4
I have had these shoes before and love them. From my view, canvas slippers or split sole ballet shoes make my feet look more pointed. The only down side about these shoes are that they get dirty, rip, and hole very easily. And for some reason I turn better in canvas than leather. I hate leather slippers!

These shoes run pretty small and don't fit well even when you order up. I was disappointed. The shoe is soft and comfortable though. But I definitely won't be purchasing these again.

I have purchased three pairs so far. I love them. The comfort is amazing, and they are wide enough for my wide feet. Be sure to order large enough. I wear a 7 1/2 street shoe, but in this ballet shoe I wear a 9 or a 10.

These are my first canvas shoes (after dancing in leather shoes for several years). I don't know why I waited so long! Great fit (followed the fitting chart and ordered a half size up) ....perfect! Love the variety of color. The flush sole allows for great lines and a better feel on the floor. I love the matching mesh bag and cute key ring that came with the shoes! Definitely won me over!

I purchased these for my school's ballet dance team. The slipper is comfortable, though you DO actually have to order up. No matter what. They look pretty, not so much as pointe shoes, but still nice. They seem to be durable too.

I am on my second pair Sansha #1 pros and love them. When I jump I feel as light as a feather. The only thing I hate about them is the canvas rips easily and you have to buy a new pair because they will have a BIG hole in the front. I love them, I can't be any happier.

Great shoes
Rating: 5
These shoes are comfortable and fit my feet perfectly. They allow me to point my toes much better than leather single-sole shoes. I have "flesh" color, which should be called "caucasian with a suntan." They match well with Capezio's "light toast" convertible tights.

These shoes run small. Buy one size bigger than what the chart says. Also, they run wide. Even the narrow width shoe still has a lot of excess fabric bunching up around my toes.

I love these shoes! They fit true to size, the color is perfect, and they're soooo comfortable. They may be one of the most inexpensive pair out there, but they're one of the best.

Love these! They are soooooo comfy, lightweight and sooo easy to sew! I hate leather shoes cause I have wide feet and they don't let my feet breathe at all. I'm a 9 street shoe and have wide feet and I fit perfectly in a 10M and there's even a little extra room. LOVE THEM! and these are the best shoes ever!!!! They last forever too!

Perfect Slipper Found
Rating: 5
I bought these canvas slippers over a year ago at the Sansha Store at NYC after all I heard about them from other dancers in class. I had just finished a pair of Capezio leather slippers that had worn holes at the toe. I have had Blochs too and countless others. I have never experienced any canvas slipper that felt so good and fit so right in class until I bought the Pro Canvas. They have passed the washing machine test. They are the most comfortable soft slipper--leather or canvas. I have a white pair but I will be buying these in pink soon too. I won't be buying any other brands of soft shoes from now on.

Rating: 5
Great shoe but the shoe sizing chart is way off. My street size is a 9.5 and they said I should order an 11 or 12. I first ordered the 11 and it was way huge so I went back and ordered a 10 and once I broke them in they turned out fine.

08/08/09 by Andrea P. from Ft. Collins, CO
Perfect!
Rating: 5
These slippers are the best I have ever had, and I have tried Bloch, Grishko, and other styles of Sansha. They take FOREVER to wear out, wash easily and look great. I bought them before at a local store so I could try the sizes, and paid way more for them at the store than here. I wear a solid size 8 street shoe, with medium wide feet, and the 9 Narrow slipper fits perfect! The embedder toe leather is wonderful since there are no edges to catch on the floor, and the toe is nice and roomy, but not bunchy. Great all-around slippers for any type of dance. (Besides, my ballet teacher wears the same ones, so they must be good!)

I was also very impressed with the customer service. This site has the cheapest shipping rates I found, by charging about half what other sites would have charged. They shipped my order in less than 12 hours after I placed the order, and it arrived three days later! Now I call that prompt! They just won a permanent customer!

Good shoes
Rating: 5
I've always had leather shoes for my classes but I wanted to try canvas. The first day I hated them, they were a little bit baggy and difficult to dance with but after a few days I started to like them. Turns out the baggy part is just because I should have gotten them a size smaller. Now I don't actually feel as if I'm dancing with different shoes. I love them:)

Nice shoe--just too small. I wear a 7.5 street shoe. I ordered an 8 in this shoe, and it was too small. I'm afraid to order a 9, so I guess I'll find a shoe that has half sizes.

Amazing shoe. Very nice and easy to dance in! I wish they had half sizes tho! I'm usually a 6 1/2 or 7 in street shoes and the 8N was a little bit baggy. But maybe my feet will grow or I'll shrink it in the washing machine haha.
GREAT buy for that price!

I absolutely LOVE these shoes!
They are amazingly comfortable and on the inside the material doesn't peel up like usual ballet shoes do. I wear a 6.5 in Nike tennis shoes and got a 6 in these. They fit perfect and I could wear them for a whole year because they basically form to my foot! I recommend these for any dancer!

Great
Rating: 5
The first couple of classes I wore these, they were slightly stiff and uncomfortable, and baggy. Under my toes, there is a lump and is kind of uncomfortable. They loosened up though and it turns out that all I had to do was tighten the drawstring...doi. Since it fits better now, the lump isn't as noticeable but I would still get maybe one half size down next time.

Love these!
Rating: 5
A teacher at the professional company I dance at suggested I get these for class, and I was hesitant. Canvas shoes don't usually last very long on me, because my toes tear holes in the front. But these were inexpensive so I tried them. They were comfortable, flattering, and lasted quite a long time. Just be careful with sizing, because for me I had to use the fitting chart differently. I subtracted half a size from my normal street shoe size and followed the fitting instructions for that. Fabulous shoe! Buy and enjoy!

Best canvas slipper on Earth!
Rating: 5
I had never worn such good ballet slippers. These are like the russian slipper! The sole had a foamy layer used to take off the pressure when you jump. The pink color is really pretty too!

I just got these shoes in the mail! They are gorgeous and very comfy. I generally prefer canvas, but had never ordered shoes online or from Sansha before. I have bunions so I ordered a 9W and they fit perfectly. I can't wait to start wearing them to class!!
Thank you Discount Dance!

So comfy!
Rating: 5
These shoes are awesome. Very comfortable. In fact, much more comfortable than the Grishko "Performance" canvas slippers, which are more expensive. I have both the light pink and flesh colors. They are very pretty colors and the flesh color matches my suntanned Asian skin very well. Highly recommended. By the way, I'm a street size 6.5 wide and the 6W fits me perfectly.

Loooove them!
Rating: 5
These are one of my favorite pair of canvas shoes. My absolute favorite pair are Bloch Proform but they sadly, don't sell them online. But back to Sansha, these are really nice shoes and they don't wear out easily. I go trough about two a year. The only reason why I go through two a year is because the stage where we perform our shows eats them up.

I really like these shoes. The sizing chart fit me very accurately and the shoes are snug in a good way. Even though I sewed my elastics a little too far down, they still fit great! My only complaint would be that they collect a TON of lint, but that might be my studio's problem.

Awesome economical shoe
Rating: 5
I have been using these shoes for years now on both myself and my students and out of all the shoes we have tried, these are by far the best. They look great. They wear great. You can wash them in the washer (but don't dry them!). They last and are very affordable. They also look GREAT on stage and blend right in with the tights. They enhance the look and arch of ANY foot. I cannot recommend another shoe!

I love these shoes!!! They are pretty stiff when you first get them but that's to be expected! They show of my arch and feel great! Make sure you do the sizing right. Mine were a little small when I got them and now that my feet have grown they are unbearably tight. I've had them for about a year and they are just now getting holes. Love these shoes! I'm ordering another pair!!!

My Shoes
Rating: 5
I have had one pair that is my favorite that I have worn for three years and are just now getting holes, and a few other nice ones I save for shows. I love how they get softer as you wear them and if they get dirty (and of course it's not long till they smell) you can machine wash them! Also, it's great that they come in so many colors, great for costumes. Only downside is that I think there is too much of a difference between sizes, a 5 is too small and a 6 can be a bit bunchy until shrunk in the dryer.

04/04/09 by Bella from L.A. California

Rating: 5
I love these shoes, they are wonderful! They are very comfy and look really nice on your feet. And they last a long time, I've been wearing mine since September and they still look great. I went one size up and they were a little bit big at the time, but they mold to your foot rather nicely after a few weeks so it's not a problem.

The good ol' basic long-lasting shoe.
Rating: 5
I buy no flat shoes but these. They are well made (they last me a full school year, dancing four days a week) and comfortable. They mold to your feet quickly as well. They are just fantabulous. I ordered same as street and it was perfect.

This shoe is amazing! It is much more comfortable than a leather shoe, although those do last longer. These last pretty long though, because I have worn them every week 3 times a week, for 2 years. I have also worn them for 2 recitals as well. These do run small though, just a warning!

We love these ballet shoes they are great. Yes, they rip on the bottom of toe area but that's from wearing the same one for 8 months... Here at our studio of 250, we love wearing them. Easy to wash, and help us out in time of need (rehearsal time; 8 hrs a day.

My favorite
Rating: 5
I've used leather ballet shoes all of my life, and they were always super uncomfortable. I then tried these, and they're amazing. They make my point look great, and they don't make your feet all sweaty. The only downside is they get dirty, but you can just throw them in the washer and they come out perfectly. However, DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE DRYER! They'll shrink. Just let them air dry, and they're good as new.

I've always had a really hard time with ballet shoes pointing out on the sides when on demi and these don't do that. I was afraid they were too tight at first, and I have a rather wide foot, but they've conformed to my feet now and are the perfect fit. Highly recommended!

Over the past 4 or so years, I have bought several pairs of these shoes in the pink and the black. So they hold up well even though I was dancing on marley floor half the time which tore up the old shoes I used to use. They fit me beautifully. (I wear the 5 N even though my feet are normally 5 M.) They really complete the line of my leg. Highly recommended.

This product was great for class! However, after a while, because they are canvas, they start to wear out at the big toe. Overall though, I would recommend this product over any other ballet shoe!

Ok............
Rating: 2
I bought these shoes a couple of months ago, because I wanted to try canvas instead of leather ballet shoes. Since I have very narrow feet, I decided to get narrow, because it is usually hard to find a shoe that fits my feet. Even because of this, they are still way too wide and make my pointe look hideous. They also are not very comfortable. The only thing that I like about these are that even having ballet for an hour and 30 min. four times a week, they haven't gotten a rip or tear in them yet. I would only suggest getting these shoes if you have wide feet.

I wear these shoes, haven't had a problem since I found the right size. I'm a guy and I had to size up about 3.5 sizes from street, from 12.5 to 16 for the Sanshas. They fit well, stay on and look good. They don't last as long as I might like but they are so cheap I don't really care. Definitely recommend them!

I like these shoes. They're nice and for the price, they are amazing! I have one small complaint and it's that there is the slightest amount of excess fabric but that is probably just my feet. Only after 3 1/2 months did they start receiving holes but I love these shoes so I have covered the holes with athletic tape. A very good shoe to start the dance year in.

These are my first pair of canvas shoes and they're going to take a little getting used to. They don't grip like leather and are very slippery so I'll have to re-adjust my balance. However, they fit perfectly and look very neat. I originally bought one size up like the chart says but I returned them for a size smaller. I wear a 7 - 7 1/2 street shoe and the 7N fits me perfectly. I haven't owned them long enough to see if they last but they seem sturdy enough and overall I'm very happy with them.

I went to a drama camp where I would dance for about 3 hours a day 5 days a week. My friend gave me a pair of Bloch leather split-sole jazz shoes in the beginning because they were too small for her. I got these shoes for performance only, so I wore the jazz shoes for two weeks. During tech week we were required to wear our performance shoes, and I did not like these at all. They ran a bit small once I tied them, the inside pad bunched up underneath my toes with one day's use so it hurt to jump and land, and the cloth had holes on the outside after two days. I ended up switching back to my practice intended jazz shoes. I DO NOT recommend these.

I've been wearing these shoes for about 3 or 4 years, and I never buy a different kind of flat shoe. They really flatter the foot and they're a nice color, not a brownish pink like some others. They last forever, in dancing terms. I don't get holes in them until about 5 months use of them. Very cheap, too. Definitely buy these shoes!

These are pretty good. I bought them in 11N, because that is what the chart said. They didn't quite fit, and so I tried them in 10M and they look much better. Now my high arches are shown at their best, and they don't feel as funny. The only thing I don't like is the way they bag under the ball of the foot.

10/02/08 by Val from New Jersey
They suck.

Terrible shoes - I'll never buy from Sansha again. The top of the shoes are way too small, even though I bought them in a "M" width - and my feet are in between narrow and wide. Plus I've only worn them for a few hours all together, and they already look like crap! Ultimate Ballet Shoes = comfortable, beautiful, cruelty-free!

I like these shoes but I did not get a size up so they were pretty tight, (I have wide feet). It made it hard to balance. I personally LOVE the Grishko canvas with elastic, better. I had gone to a 4-week intensive and on week 3, I had forgotten my ballet shoes! I had to get something for my classes and there was a discount dance supply store by there so I got these. They made it through, but I like the other ones better. I have a high arch like what

said, but it didn't help. Because I am so much over my toes, the narrow shoe doesn't help me balance. Don't get me wrong, but you need flat, narrow feet for this shoe.

They are such a great ballet shoe. Mine are super dirty but have lasted for 1 1/2 years, and still going strong. Plus, they make your feet look good. I'm a 7 1/2 by the way, and an 8 fits me just perfect.

I used these shoes all year last year, and I love them! I have very flexible feet, and I felt like I was pointing farther in these than in my leather one sole shoes. They only have small holes on the outside after being used from August to May! They fit perfect, and I would never wear anything else!

Buy some leather dance shoes!

I used to wear the Juliet Capezio Ballet shoes, and they would wear out so fast. All my friends would have the Sansha ballet slipper, so I decided to give it a try. I had tried my friends on, so I ordered her size, a 5M and it fit perfectly. I ordered them in January, and I wear them for lyrical, jazz, and ballet,12 classes a week, and they still are in very good condition. I do agree that if your studio has black marley flooring, they can get very dirty pretty fast. But I throw them in the wash every once in a while, and they look as good as new. Like I said, I love these shoes, but now since my feet are growing I am going up a size. I'm going to order the black, flesh, and white colors too because these are my favorite ballet shoe of all time. My arch is so-so. It's not that bad, but it isn't very good either. My old juliets made my foot look so bad, and the Sanshas show my true arch, and it looks so pretty. I would recommend these shoes to anyone. I love them!!!

I've been wearing these for 2 years and they are the best! They last long for me as far as getting the job done. If you don't wear canvas shoes much and expect it to stay spotless as long as a leather, than you shouldn't get it, but as far as that goes, it's no worse than any other canvas shoe. I've tried Bloch, which I usually like, but they didn't look as good on my foot. I don't think you have to have long toes for this shoe. My toes are stubby but the shoe complements that and makes my foot look beautiful. It has great arch support, which I need because I'm a pronator and start hurting if a shoe doesn't. RECOMMENDED(:

Did not fit my flat feet
Rating: 3
I ordered 1.5 sizes larger as some previous reviews suggested, but I say just go 1 size up from street size. I wear size 8-1/2 or 9 street and bought size 10. The length fit good, but the ball was too baggy with fabric. I normally have medium width flat feet and the M was too baggy. This shoe would work better for someone with a higher arch.

Not good on my feet
Rating: 2
The nice thing about these, are that you get a pointe shoe keyring and a little Sansha mesh bag to keep the slippers in. Now for the not so great: the canvas is really not durable and looks not that great. These are for people with long toes, probably high arch with narrow foot and not tapered toes. Basically, everything my feet are not. While they fit OK width wise there was so much baggy fabric on my toes because they are tapered (my feet). Plus, I didn't like how minuscule the sole on the ball and heel were. Not enough for my wide feet. Looked awful. If you have wide metatarsal area I like Grishko much better.

While these shoes have their pros and cons, I would have to say the pros outweigh the cons more than any other shoe I've tried. I love how the sole is "flush" making these shoes sinfully comfortable and the design is flattering on every foot (most of my ballet friends have worn these too). While I will admit that they wear down quickly, I don't mind since they are inexpensive and have allowed me to feel the floor more than I have ever seen. As far as the dirty appearance, just wash them in the laundry. I do it all the time and they look good as new. And they are better than all the bloch shoes I have tried, which fit like I should have the foot of an elephant and make a lump of my arch.

Beautiful shoe but wears out fast.
Rating: 3
Probably the most comfortable ballet shoe I've ever had. They make even the most awkward feet look beautiful and the canvas lets your foot breathe much better than leather. However, I go through two/three pairs a year because they wear out (holes on toes and interior sole weakens)and get dirty so easily, which I find bizarre since I only use them five or so hours a week. Which is nothing compared to other dancers I know.

My fave shoe
Rating: 5
This is an AMAZING shoe!!! I would recommend it to everyone, no matter what kind of foot they have (banana foot or flat, looks GREAT). I have a somewhat low arch and they make my feet look fantastic on demi pointe. Also, teachers love it for some reason; makes you look 'more professional' (?) The back is not too high (I HATE high backs) and I have had these for 2 1/2 years and they keep getting better -- also, very good price. I went to somewhere else and they sold it for 29 bucks -- buy them NOW.
If you have really narrow feet, buy Russian pointe instead and sew them criss cross. One problem is you have to put water on the soles before class, otherwise they're really slippery, or maybe it's my turnout :-P I would recommend this to everybody!!!

I wore these shoes for ever! They fit me great and everything but they are just so constricting to your foot, that it makes it hard to move your foot. Also, when you point, the sole over your toes creates an annoying bubble. They don't mold all too well to your foot and they don't last too long either.

I have been wearing these shoes for a while and think they are OK. I have a higher arch and whenever I go up, the elastic inside the shoe digs in. I don't know if this is just me, but it HURTS! These are the best canvas shoes I've tried in a long time. I have larger feet (size 9 in street shoes) and very wide feet and I had to order a couple times to find my size. Now I wear a 10W and might feel small at first but after you break them in they really become a second skin. They last for a long time compared to most canvas. My last pair lasted for about 8 months and I used them for about 8 hrs a week. Make sure to wash them and take care of them if you want them to last that long. Besides, they're so cheap that you can buy replacement pairs without too much fuss.

Not too bad
Rating: 3
I would not say that these are really that bad but they don't seem to suit me very well. They are of decent quality for such a low price but the fitting is difficult; not for small narrow feet with tapered toes like mine. The canvas is comfortable and the arch is wonderful but even the narrow width is not really narrow and is too wide for me, particularly at the heel and around the toes, so it bunches and is not flattering for my feet.
I got these because I needed black slippers and I trust Sansha but I would not wear them for performance again - but I wear them for some simple practices at home and they're fine for that.

Rating: 4
I've had 3 pairs of these shoes and they're really good shoes! They form to the foot well and are great for turning IN THE BEGINNING. The only major set back is the heel is thick and a bit painful at times because it pokes at your heel, and after they're worn they're extremely hard to turn on. I was falling all over the place on my pirouettes 'cause they stuck to the floor. Now I'm trying the Capezio cobras and I'm hoping to get a better result. But other than that, they last long and are flattering to the foot.

OK, is anyone here familiar with that painting of a dancer's feet in 5th position, and her shoes are falling apart and duct taped together? Yeah, my old shoes looked just like that. I used to wear full sole leather shoes, and the sole was constantly coming apart from the shoe. I tend to wear my shoes until they're dead, and then keep wearing them awhile longer. So I was holding my shoes together with tape for awhile. I've never had that problem with these. They last a long time for a canvas shoe. They're flexible and comfortable, are pretty flattering, and the fact that they come in wide width is a huge plus for me. Yeah, they get dirty pretty fast, but hey, at this price you can always get a pair for class/rehearsal and a pair for performances. I will definitely be buying these again and again.

These shoes are required for my dance company, and after dancing in single sole leather slippers for years, I was relieved when we HAD to get these. I purchased these shoes because I wanted some in black canvas. They fit well enough, except that I should not have ordered a medium width. They are too wide and all around just baggy. I really do like these shoes but I wouldn't suggest buying them if you have tapered feet or a low instep. They bunch up so badly, they can even interfere with turn out. They almost feel like foot diapers. If you have perfect feet, go for it. If not, I would advise you to pick something different.

Good for cheap shoes, but not best
Rating: 3
For $13, they are a decent deal. Not good for tapered feet at all - leaves way too much material to bunch up. Certainly not the most flattering and I have a very high arch, so it usually doesn't take much to show it off. Drawstrings tend to come undone no matter how tight you tie them (I sew mine together now), and even the N width isn't that narrow. The pink color washes/fades to a beautiful shade that matches well with almost any brand of tights. They do get dirty easily and are tough to clean. I find that only Spray-n-Wash Dual Power can get them looking clean and pretty again. Still prefer Grishko and Russian Pointe.

No matter what floor you're on, the grip the shoe has on the floor seems to remain the same. They haven't worn out yet like other reviewers said. Maybe they use them more often than I do. They really mold to your feet and look flattering on any foot type. Besides, they're so cheap, it's not a big deal to buy new ones.

Great Fit Hugs Arch
Rating: 5
These are a great fitting shoe. Very similar to the Capezio Cobra, but less leather under the tips of toes and slightly thicker canvas. Still very soft (both of these models of shoe have canvas that is maybe "too" soft), comfy, but not long-lasting).
Get these wet and wear them around with socks over them until they dry, and they will shrink-to-fit your feet PERFECTLY, no matter which of your toes is longer or what shape they are.
Nice color, matches tights well. You might want to buy your own elastic; if you like wide, the GM pale peach matches Sansha Lt Pink.
Still prefer Freed's Top Spin to ANY canvas shoe, because the canvas is smooth, not soft, BUT Sanshas are half the price and available Everywhere, so they are always in the dance bag. And when they throw in a pair of tights, that makes these shoes practically free! What's not to love?

These run a little small, but as far as quality goes, these are amazing. They look great on and compliment any style of foot. I just switched to these after Grishko and Russian Pointe both raised the prices on their flats. They fit comfortably, show off the feet decently well (RP is still best) and the color is pretty while it lasts. I got the light/ballet pink and it matches well with tights. They do get dirty very very quickly, but I'm told they wash up well. I was about to get the deal with the two pointe shoe key rings and a free pair of tights - all for $12! You can't beat that value. And the free tights were comfortable and pretty too. I'd definitely buy these again, although admittedly I'd still be sticking with the Russian Pointe Andantes if they were cheaper and easier to come by.

I love these shoes. We are required to have shoes like these and I really like them. The only thing I don't like is the elastic string comes out very easily.

Great shoes, but be a fair consumer...
Rating: 5
My son, who's a dancer, swears by these shoes - they're great. However, I'm disturbed by a few of the comments made here about getting fitted at a shop and then ordering online. I'm not a shop owner of any kind and love to buy stuff online, but the dance shops I've visited all seem to be independent, often small, businesses. They are well aware that the merchandise can be obtained less expensively online, and work hard to provide the element that you can't get on the Internet - a professional fitting. If we rely on these shops for fittings but don't compensate them for their service by buying the shoes, we are hurting them and, eventually, will drive them out of business. And we need them, right? So at least support this needed small business by buying the pair that fits from the shop that helped you find them. If you want to buy additional pairs online to save money, fine (I know I've done that), but think about what you're doing. Hardly anyone ever got rich being either a dancer OR a dance shop owner, so why shouldn't these two groups, who both need each other, support each other?

My favorite shoe
Rating: 5
These are really some wonderful shoes. I've been dancing for 11 years, and have always been a fan of canvas over leather... But these are by far the best canvas ballet shoes I have ever had. They are quite durable, lasting weeks longer than other brands. They also truly enhance the foot, and do not bunch up under the toes. Thank you Sansha!

Nice Surprise

These were the first (and only) canvas ballet slipper I had ever tried, and I loved them! They hug your feet and are very comfortable. It's also nice to be able to wash them to keep them looking new. The only downfall is that they don't last as long as leather slippers...mine have holes in the tips. However, that is true of all canvas vs. leather shoes. If canvas isn't for you, try the leather version of this shoe...they fit just as great!

One of the best

I've been dancing for 25 years, so I've tried just about every ballet flat on the market. These are simply some of the best. They're so comfortable, remarkably durable, and come in a much wider range of colors than any other flat. I either wear these or Grishkos. They fit 100x better than anything by Bloch or Capezio.

I have had these shoes for a while and they get better with time. They stretch width wise after a while, which is good for me. They really do become like a glove. BEWARE: they shrink a little after washing so let them DRY ON YOUR FEET!

I have been wearing Sansha for 11 years now, and I am a forever fan. I will tell you that if you have very wide feet, to go get fitted at your nearest dance supply first and then order via mail. My feet have had injuries and I had to wear the Sansha Pro 1 leather. Your feet can change from year to year and so, you should get fitted on occasion. What I do is get fitted (I don't buy them at the shop) and then I order 2 pairs at a time to save money. Ballet_Teacher

I love these shoes, they hug my high arches beautifully, breathe well, the seamless bottoms are fantastic and last long for being canvas. However, I always cut away the gathered fabric on the inside under the ball of the foot, which is otherwise painful.

I'm very disappointed at the previous comments made about this shoe, and all dance shoes in general. It is truly apparent that all dancers' feet are built differently. I suggest trying on the shoes in a store, then ordering them online once you've found the pair that's right for you.

I love my Sanshas. I've been wearing them for something like 8 years and, even though they're canvas, I don't go through nearly as many pairs as I did when I used leather. I really like the way they fit and that I can throw them in the washer when they get super dirty. You should seriously give them a try!

Awesome shoes, BUT!!!
Rating: 3
These shoes were so comfortable. I go through ballet shoes so quickly. These shoes lasted me about 2 weeks. I was wearing a Capezio leather split sole and they got toO small so I ordered them so I would have a ballet shoe for my ballet recital. I practiced in them for about 2 weeks and then the recital came and the inside fell all apart and they started ripping and I was doomed. Luckily I made it through. I love my current shoes but you would have to ask your studio because they only sell to studios. They are the brand Revolution, but don't get the stretch ballet.

There's just something about these shoes that I can't work in. They fit a little weird. They're slippery, and somehow that keeps me from turning. I've worn them for class maybe twice. Otherwise I keep them for when I'm not dancing but need a clean shoe. Painful. Yuck.

These shoes rock! I have had them for almost 2 years now, and they fit and perform really well. They have lasted through 3 classes a week for a year, Nutcracker performances and rehearsals, and Coppelia performances and rehearsals. I ordered a pair from here last Fall and then ordered another pair to be dyed for mouse shoes. Even after dyeing, they were still as comfortable as my non-dyed ones and the pink ones are just starting to wear out now.

I like these shoes a lot!
At first I didn't know about the narrow though, so they were too baggy, and the fabric would bunch at the ball of my foot, so I didn't like them. I also tried Cobras and Juliets, but I came back to these shoes when I found out about the narrow. I really like them now, and I think that they make my feet look nice, no bunches.

I got these for my daughter when she was working through an injury (bone bruise on ball of foot). The extra cushioning in these was a godsend. She did complain a little while becoming accustomed to the padding. The narrow sizes are also a big plus.

I have worn Sanshas for about four years, and was somewhat happy with them. I definitely liked them more than leather, because your feet could breath and feel the floor easier. My main complaint about these is that the material gets very bunchy at the ball of the foot, which makes it not as easy to use the floor and articulate your feet/toes, due to so much extra material placed in that area. Because of that reason, I switched to Capezio Cobra canvas ballet shoes. So far, I have been much happier with those. Also with Sanshas, they tend to swallow your feet a little, which does not show off your arch, and can make your feet look a lot worse than they actually are. They also get holes in them quite quick, but overall I think they are a fairly good shoe (but I think it just depends on your likings).

I really do like these shoes, but I'd rather have a tighter fit. For me, they tend to be slightly baggy, even though I bought the narrow size. They also get holey very fast. If I'm on stage for a few dances, they get all torn up. My last pair had holes all the way through. However, they are very comfortable and easy to dance in =)

This is an excellent quality ballet class shoe. Since it is canvas, it washes nicely in the washing machine. I then pull it back into shape and dry flat on top of the dryer. Hate leather! Always did! So when I went to order a new pair of shoes, I went with these. Hasn't changed for over 6 years! Some people with very high arches might not like them and prefer leather, but I love them. I have fairy nice feet, and these show them to my advantage, by forming to them. They also last FOREVER, even when I'm working them like you wouldn't believe!

Works for me

I've tried four other brands of canvas shoes and these are by far my favorite. They form to my feet nicely, show off my arch and last a long time because the canvas is thicker than some other brands. I have small, narrow feet (4N) so if anyone else out there has small feet...try this shoe.

I love these shoes!! ALL the girls wear these at the studio I go to. Very comfortable and I think they make my own and everyone else's feet look great. For me, they fit very well in the arch( I have a high arch) and I have no lumps anywhere. I am a size 7 1/2 med width. Not sure if I will ever try anything else! The pink is a perfect pink (not too bright).

These are much better than any leather ballet slippers I have ever had. They are affordable and very comfortable, but very ugly and wide on my feet. I get lumps when I point, so it looks like I am not fully pointing my foot. It might be better for people with wider feet though.

I LOVE CANVAS SHOES!!!
Rating: 5
I used to buy leather shoes & granted, they last longer, they were not as comfortable and did not look as good. I haven't gone back since. I am sticking with these shoes. The leather styles I had to stretch out and then, I still didn't like the fit. I like the cross elastics, as well. The pink color is nice, too. I am pleased with these! I like mine worn in a bit. I haven't had problems with them getting weird or bunching and I am particular.

These have lasted a pretty long time for me. I also support cutting out the insoles, but the bunching inside the shoes didn't become a problem until I was taking two classes a day in them. At the beginning of the shoes' life, I had no problems.

I don't know why anyone would say anything bad about these. Ok, maybe they wear out KIND of quickly, but all canvas ones do, and canvas looks better than leather, and they're TWELVE BUCKS so you can't complain. They're the only slippers I wear because they're the only ones that don't give me a weird lump under my foot. In conclusion: I know very few advanced or professional dancers who don't wear these shoes, and if they wear something else, it's because they get a discount.

This shoe is awesome. I have had the same pair for about 5 months now and they are still completely comfortable. I love the way they feel and how they don't squish and squeeze your toes like leather does. Canvas is also great to air out your feet when it's really hot. And it is so much easier to pointe your feet! I love these shoes!

S1C - Sansha's "Pro" original canvas split-sole ballet slipper. The sole is fully hand stitched and thread does not appear on the outside of the shoe, so it will not wear out. This also means the sole is flush with the upper, so there is nothing to catch on the floor.
