This lambs wool it so soft! I like it a lot. I use it for extra padding, and it works perfectly. It lasts forever!

Amazing!

I just switched from toe pads to lambs wool and I love it. Your toes just have to bleed and blister a few times then you'll form calluses and it won't be as painful. The feel of the floor is so much better with lambs wool as long as you don't put too much.

I just started pointe and our teacher said that we have to get lambs wool for comfort and we were not allowed to buy any other gel pads or stuff like that. Lambs wool does not do much and I don't recommend it. Next year I'm switching to gel pads.

I hated these.

I HATE lambs wool products. They offer no comfort or padding. You can definitely FEEL the floor... in a bad way!!! You get lots of blisters, too. Overall don't get them!

It's the BEST!!!

I used to use gel toe pads and I couldn't feel the floor at all because the pads were so big and thick. When I moved to a different teacher she told me to use lambs wool and I really like it a lot! It takes a little longer to get it right in your shoe but after that, it works so much better than anything else!

For new pointe dancers...
Rating: 5
I have just started pointe and at my studio, our first year we are not allowed to use any padding to toughen up our toes. In my opinion, if you are new to pointe, you should use thin toe pads or lambs wool because it will toughen up your toes and ultimately, make you a better dancer.

I am in my second pair of pointe shoes and I have the Ouch Pouch Jr. The only problem with this otherwise great toe pad is that after awhile, it kinda thins and when I'm on pointe for longer than an hour or so, my big toe starts to hurt terribly. Well OK not that badly but still enough for me to feel uncomfortable. Usually I just deal with the pain but when I'm on pointe for two hours or more, it starts to bug me. One of the girls in my sister's pointe class came up with the perfect solution! Before your class, take a pinch of lambs wool and tape it to your big toe! The effect is incredible! It doesn't take up any more room. You can hardly feel it and it provides the ultimate comfort and pain relief while still allowing you to feel the floor.

I think lambs wool is great, but the only problem is, it sometimes moves around in my shoes so I get blisters. I suggest putting a little lamb's wool inside an Ouch-Pouch because there is then extra padding and there is something shielding my toes from the inside of the toe shoes. I can also still feel the floor with this combo.

It's Great!

At my studio, we aren't allowed to use toe pads, so I think lambs wool is very nice. You would think it doesn't do much, but as long as you use tape to prevent blisters, it doesn't hurt your feet! ( Don't use too much though or your toes will be squished and THAT hurts).

I think lambs wool really works! Because when I got my first pair of pointe shoes, my toe pads got thin. So my dance teacher, Stephanie, told me to get some lambs wool to put in my toe pads. So I did and it worked.

I like the wool but, it gave me a lot of blisters so I put a little at the box and use my toepads, and I can still feel the floor. Lambs wool is just an extra padding for me =]

Finally, I can feel the floor! I did use gel pads at one point, however they were far too bulky and the sensation of feeling the floor was lost. When I went to my local dance store for my next pointe shoe fitting, I decided to go with free lambs wool. Because really, the only protection you really need is on the front of your toes, the sides, and the tip of the pointe shoe. And it was just enough to give me protection while still being able to really feel the floor. I will never use a gel pad in my pointe career again.

Lamb's wool is all I have used for years. The appropriate method for using this is to put a very small amount into the end of your pointe shoe. It will take some adjusting to get it just right. Once it's in there and it feels good to you, just leave it in there. All of my pointe shoes have lamb's wool in them; all I have to do is stick my feet in and tie them up. It's correct that this is the preferred padding to use because it allows you to feel the floor. The amount sold here (1 oz) is way more than you should be using for one pair of shoes. I use barely a pinch. This may take some getting used to if you're used to a bulky pad, but ultimately this will improve your dancing.

Just Right

Lambs wool is basically the best padding out there for dancers. It offers a little cushioning but lets you actually feel the floor. I just buy a little bit and then reuse the same stuff over again. After a couple classes, it will form to your foot and create a "pad." It is somewhat like the lambs wool pad, but it is molded exactly to your foot. Lambs wool is also good for covering up blisters.

Probably the Best

My teacher won't let us use anything other than lambs wool. I really like it. You can decide how much you want. Also, you can really feel the floor. The only problem is it takes a while to get just right. It normally takes me about 5 minutes to put my pointe shoes on because it takes a while for me to arrange the wool just right. But I really love lambs wool. You can't get anything better.

I really like lamb's wool, but it's hard to get right. I end up using too much, too little, or arranging it wrong. Once I get it right, though, it feels great. I do need to tape my toes with lambs wool or I will get blisters. My teacher, however, buys a huge thing of pillow stuffing and keeps it in the studio for when people forget padding. It's like $2 for a huge package, and apparently works just as well.

This really helps you feel the floor, because you don't need to put much of it in your shoe. Also, it can be arranged to cover problems areas. Someone already said this, but if you're really cheap, you can buy lambs wool in bulk from a craft store :D

Perfect.

I've found my "perfect" shoes and I just use a bit of tape, and lambs wool. It doesn't take up too much room, especially with the width of the shoes. This stuff has saved my feet on numerous occasions, just be sure not to use too much, or the pressure on your feet might not feel too great! And 1 oz. is actually quite a lot, but you might be able to find it cheaper at drug stores!

I own lambs wool and I think it's great! I can feel the floor and don't get blisters. I recommend you use toe tape with lambs wool and not put too much in the box of the shoe.

This stuff is annoying. When you first put it in your shoes, it's nice and soft, but the floor is still right there. After about two, 2 hour classes, it gets all . . . I can't think of a good word for it, but it gets bunched up and uncomfortable. I think that's why you get so much of it because it needs to be replaced a lot. I prefer to use the kind of lambs wool that's shaped like a normal toe pad.

Cheaper than toe pads!

This works great and keeps the toes comfy! I would recommend this to all dancers.

Odd that people say that you can't feel the floor with the lambswool...just because my very strict Russian teacher won't let us use anything but lambswool--she says otherwise you can't feel the floor. She once caught one of the other girls using pads and suspended her from classes for two weeks!
Personally, I don't care for the stuff, but that's what she wants....

It sounds nice and soft and such but... if I cant feel the floor in them, then that's not good! I want to get tough calluses on my toes so that when I start doing longer, and more advanced point work, I'll have strong tough toes. I don't think beginners should get it if you cant feel the floor.

Worth it!

Okay, when I ordered this stuff, I thought it would just be enough for maybe a little in each pointe shoe, but when I got it and opened it, it's in a big long strip that's like 6 inches around and like 3 feet long! It says it weighs only 1 oz. but I guess it's pretty light... You really should buy it, as it lasts a while.

I don't actually have this, but I do have a much better solution than paying $4.10. If you live in the country, ask around for people who own sheep/lambs because when they sheer it (cut it's hair) they will most likely offer you a little. I myself own a market lamb and my sister has a breeding sheep, so I can just go outside with a pair of scissors and snip little tufts off. But, be sure to wash it thoroughly with Woolite and bleach it, too, to get rid of mites and fleas!

Great padding, it's one of the best too.

I own lambs wool. I like that it actually pads my feet, but what I don't like is that it gets wormy and you have to replace it once in a while. So it's great for your feet if you're a beginner and your toes are hurting.

It's really good padding for your feet!

When I'm on my Toe shoes (and I'm using lambs wool) I can't feel the floor, and that's a good thing because my toes are sensitive. But it's a good product for people who just got their pointe shoes and/or don't like the feeling of your toes compressed against the ground!
