08/19/09 by Liz from Maryland Rating: 4 A lot of other reviewers are right; this book can seem heavy and complicated. But since I've started using it, I have changed my diet and how I exercise, and am seeing results. You do have to read a lot, and even sometimes get out the calculator, but it makes a big difference. If you want to do all of the activities in the book, a body fat caliper and tape measure are must-haves, and I'd recommend getting a journal to keep track of changes and daily diet. A heart rate monitor is good to have to ensure you can lose fat by tracking your optimal heart rate, but they can be expensive. Overall, I think this book has practical applications, and would also agree it is out of date, and I would love a new edition! It's great to add to any dancer's library!
06/25/09 by Jackie Confusing, useless, and outdated
Rating: 1 This book got me SO confused! Trying to maintain a dancer's body is not the easiest thing in the world to do, and this book didn't make it any easier. Instead of telling me what to eat and etc. it gave me all this stuff that I couldn't follow. And it's outdated!
03/20/09 by Claire from Missouri Disappointing.
Rating: 1 Confusing and not worth the money. I'm disappointed.
07/03/07 by Aria from Sunnyvale, California Rating: 3 I had no problem buying a book based on science rather than telling you how to lose weight, but the book hasn't been updated in over a decade. If the authors would only release an updated version, this book would be worth five stars. But, unfortunately, it is out of date.
06/19/07 by Taylor from San Francisco, CA Rating: 1 This book is outdated and no longer scientifically sound. It really just provides information any (old) diet book would have, plus a lot of useless filler.
I am a registered dietitian and I think this book is a good way to toss $15.25. What we know about nutritional sciences is constantly changing and growing. Buying a 12 year old book on the subject is pointless.
02/19/07 by Cathy from New Jersey Rating: 5 This is a great book for anyone trying to maintain a dancer's body! It is scientifically based and nutritionally sound. I definitely recommend it!
11/26/06 by TayTay from California Did not help
Rating: 2 Not a good book to buy if you're just looking to find out what to eat or what exercises you should do to lose some weight. It has scientific stuff that I don't understand and did not help me at all. It was even hard to read because it was so boring. Do NOT buy this item its not worth it!
10/15/06 by Carrie from Utah Rating: 4 This book is filled with the science behind dancing and nutrition. While it is not what I expected and although it is quite a heavy read, it is very interesting and perfect for the extremely serious dancer.
09/04/06 by Dee from New Jersey Rating: 5 I think it is a great book for dancers.
06/05/06 by Faith NOT IMPRESSED!!!!
Rating: 1 First off, it is not a book for teens. I was very disappointed when it arrived. It was not worth the $14.55. I could have learned the information anywhere. I do NOT recommend this book.
