The reviews are very helpful. I spray the sole with hand grip aerosol and that helps. The key is to wrap the laces low on the ankle and they will sit in place. I wear them on the street and always have people ask where they can be purchased. I work as an illusionist's assistant and these are invaluable.

LOVE THEM!

These are the best jazz shoes out there. I used them for about 4 years and then packed them up only to use them again 15 years later. They are worn, don't get me wrong, but these have held up to the test of time. They are easy to dance in, but you have to know what you are doing, because they will slip on you from time to time.

Dancing in shoe is religious experience

This shoe is excellent for belly dancers. Very comfortable to dance in. It feels almost as if you're bare foot, only you're saving your soles from burning during performances. LOL

I have had my Hermes for many years, bought them when I was in an African dance troupe for a parade. We took sandals in to have a non slip sole added to the suede bottom, they last longer that way, don't slip on floor and still very flexible. I always receive compliments on these shoes when I wear them out and about - they look great with a skirt! I find with the laces that if I do a square knot, they stay tied. Hope this helps, and I'm so glad I found these here so when I need another pair, I know where to go!

These are a great theatrical shoe, but are not so great for dancing in. It's really hard to grip the floor well enough for leaps, but would probably work well for something like belly dance. However, for theatre, it's a very good period-looking shoe.

Hi, I am very pleased with this sandal. I have been buying it for many years for my students. It can last up to four years. They are comfortable, feels like you are barefoot, and it protects the foot when you perform. The lace is perfect because if you put them on, leather in time, by the use, will break or crack. I recommend the people to buy them and to make sure to wear it loose on the ankle and tight on the toes. The sandal will accommodate itself on the foot. The tan color is perfect. I suggest to make them also darker tan. For lighter people, regular tan and darker people, darker tan. I also suggest to make them under size 4 for kids. Children love these sandals and want to buy them. Make them at least from sizes 1 up to 4 for kids and from sizes 5 to 11 for grown ups. My students and I are very satisfied with these sandals.

Will not stay on well
Rating: 3
The cheap fake leather laces are stiff and unravel easily while dancing. It feels too slippery at times. The sole is flexible but too thick for you to grip the floor with your toes. I think if you replace the laces with something like real leather or ribbon, it would be better. If you have a ballroom shoe wire brush, or if you can find a metal file cleaner (hardware store) then brush the sole and the smooth leather heel a little to give the shoe more grip on the floor.

Fit well
Rating: 5
I am reviewing the fit only at this time. I just received my pair in the mail. The delivery was quick- I received my shoes within 4 business days.
My heel is pretty average but flare toward the tips. I wear an 8W (8C) and following the fit guide, I purchased a 7. Since these shoes only come in Medium widths (B), I was afraid that it might be a little narrow, but it's fine. A few centimeters of my pinky hangs over the sole, but it doesn't touch the floor at all.
The color is described as tan, but the color is not natural. No one tans this color. It's is somewhat grayish. It is fine if you are medium complexioned and should blend into your leg line on stage

Comfortable and cute!
Rating: 5
As a Middle Eastern dancer, I found this shoe more comfortable than dancing barefoot, in ballet slippers, or in any other dance shoe! I wear it for class and performance, and I have been very pleased with its comfort and style. My only complaint is that the suede bottom can get slippery after a lot of use.
